Serious financial thought (Meme face) - T-Mobile LG G2x

So i have/ had a G2x since 4/20 but ive been checking ebay and craigslist and it seems the overall value of this phone is going down.. i don't know why cause i love the phone personally and wouldn't want to let it go.. but I bought off contract for 500 bucks when it first came out and after looking online im looking at loosing atleast 300 dollars.. I've also noticed T-mobiles giving away sensations now as a replacement and those are going for more money than the G2x which is blowing my mind cause i think they blow... but idk helpful feedback would be nice im thinking just switching it out and selling it right away pretty much to make most of my money back and just buy the next best thing after? hows it sound .. it just hurts lossing that much money is like 4 months over a awesome phone

hey man thats what happens when you buy a phone outright on launch. there's ALWAYS crazy deals later. like the g2x for free or $1 or whatever tmobile had. just gotta let it go bro

If you like it why dump it? Just because someone else doesnt like theirs? Heres some words of wisdom.........If it aint broke, dont fix it!

Unless dealing with a collectors item, phones, and tech devices in general, are a terrible financial investment. You have to find just the right deals and timing to make any sort of ROI.
I buy devices when I need or want them, for practical or entertainment use and with the expectation that they'll be half price in a few months.

Preach on man!!!
Well actually never pay retail is the lesson. I don't have a contract with my plan and been saving it to get a phone. But, did pick up a G2 off craigslist. Paid 140. Wasn't in bad shape, used but not abused.
I too paid for my G2X out of pocket. Only have one issue but I can live with it. Its better to find a bargain, cause this Android fix is expensive. I have 3 phones now. And G2x still top phone for me.

I just received two of them free with 2-year contract on their last day of web-only free advertizements. I'm glad I waited.

Best buy PRP

hey guys.. just asking if you think the best buy product replacement plan is worth it when buying a new phone.. apparently if anything goes wrong.. u can just get a replacement? and there is no limit?? something is bound to go wrong in 3 years and i figure by then theere would be wayy better phones that cost around the same as the phone im buying now.. so lets say something goes wrong every year i would get a new phone every year.. just being cautious i gues.. ive never had a phone last me over like a year and a half.. and would hate to pay full price for the phone at that time since im signing a 3 year term..
any one? is it worth it?

They can be worth it for phons that are worth a lot but you have to read the fine print because most of the time what kills cell phones like dropping them and watter is not covered but the this. You don't want to pay 50% of the price of the phone ether. They can be usefull. My brand new Samsung Galaxy S is now dead and I have Bell and Bestbuy arguing who will replace it. I've had it for 29 Days. Best buy will only trade them befor 14 days but bell stated they have to take back DOA SGS's up to 60 days for a trade. If I would have had this plan, I would have my phone back allready.

Thoughts on G tablet Woot deal

Someone posted that over 10,000 were sold yesterday. I always wondered about that site and how they could make any money, but figure this, if they made $10 a piece on each that is one incredible day for even many of the larger retailers.
I thought this was going to be great for the G tablet community with which it would make Viewsonic take notice and develop more for this product.
But what if many who bought were resellers jumping on a bargain (my bet). Still eventually if they sold it would still be good.
I always thought the Apple fanatics were really out there standing in lines to buy the latest until it was explained that many were buying to resell and sell higher than retail. Still dopes to pay but does explain more.
The thing is there's little to be made for any who plan to resell. These retail for $350 to $370 and after ebay, paypal, and shipping fees we're only looking at maybe a $20 to $30 profit. Plus with woot limiting the amount you can buy I really think most of the G-Tablets sold yesterday were to people genuinely interested in the product. Well, at least I was one.

I know that our customer support group purchased quite a few of these yesterday .
I had been prodding them toward getting these as our mobile platform for a while, was super happy they came up on woot
I agree that most who got woot deals yesterday were buying for home use and not re-sell. People have been seeing the Gtab, and even through all the exxcitment of the xoom, interest in it was picking up. This just goes to show people are smarter with their money than given credit for and it gives a clear message that we are not willing to pay 6 to 8 hundred dollars for hype and a carrier contract.
I bought mine for personal use. I've been on the fence and could not pass up this deal.
I honestly had my heart set on the iPad 2 pre release, but then once I saw it didn't have retina and the price was still relatively expensive (for a 32gb 3G), I figured I might as well save my money. Once the woot deal came on, I did some research and stumbled across this community, and how couldn't I buy the product for just $280? I just signed up to this forum this week and I'm already addicted reading up on how everyone is modding their gTab. Thanks in advance to all the mods who will make my experience a pleasant one..
Bought mine for personal use as well. Been on the fence for a while over a tablet saw the woot, liked the price and after some research here and elsewhere decided with some fairly simple tweaks this would fit all my needs in a tablet.
Bought mine for personal use and work. Part of my job is providing support for my company's mobile apps, and it is much more convenient to have my own than dig up where the company hardware is hiding. I also have a toddler and we are going on a 4 hr plane trip next month, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity for an electronic babysitter for the trip at this price. (There may be toddler/mom deathmatches over who gets to use it as both of us are geeks)
Bought mine for personal use yesterday too.
I can't wait
Hi purchased the nook color when it was 200 bucks for ebay. and i love it.
It is used at my restaurant as digital photo album / menu
the face that you can grab it with one hand and do demonstrations with it is awesome.
But it is lacking in some ways.
Purchased the gtab for personal use, front facing camera etc. I dont know how usable it will be, but I am hoping the dual core processor helps things out more.
honestly loading webpages on the NC with dolphin or skyfire was ok. but not great, and it definitely could not unseat my netbook that i also carry around with me wherever i go.
I think 285 bucks delivered for a dual core tablet with these specs and the best user group community on the planet (XDA) which has always helped me with my droid1, fascinate (for a friend) nook color, and now gtab... is a super steal. to borrow the words of another forum post: Lucky mofos.

So was I! This is going to be my first foray into tablet computing. At such a low price with real hardware, this going to let me get my feet wet, and if I hate it, i'm sure i can sell it at just a slight loss. Hoping I love it though!
Was in for one as well, though I'd just grabbed a Nook Color (just before that eBay deal); was impressed with how much more usable the larger screen was, and how much it felt like I was trying to work with a postage stamp when I swapped back to my G2.
Then this came up, and couldn't resist long enough for them to sell out.
Actually ended up sucking a few friends in as well..
I had no idea the makers of my TV made a tablet. I jumped on this when I read the specs. Hopefully Woot doesn't take more than a month for this thing to ship out.
to good a deal to pass up....needed a new toy to play with
I just picked up the NC a few days ago. I never even heard of the gtab until it popped up on woot. I've returned my NC.. the hardware on the gtab for the price can't be beat.
Just watch ebay. Yesterday there was one gTab listed with 7 days left current price of like $180. I think there will be lost on there and the price will end up falling on ebay and people wont be able to sell them for much (if any) more then they bought them for.
I plan on keeping mine. Bought it for personal use. Wanted a galaxy tab, but didn't want a contract or to spend 400-500.
I can survive a $280 fight with my wife, not a $500 one.
Good deal, bought for personal use also.

One closed yesterday around $315 after paypal and ebay fees you'd lose a bit of money on the deal. Personally I bought one for me, just wnated to see ebay pricing in case I didn't like it.
Given that only about 3% of purchasers purchased 3 at once I doubt that very many were purchased for resale.
same with me, you took the words right out of my mouth

Cellhub anyone?

Has anyone in here ever deal with cellhub when buying ur G2X?
They have the phone on sale for $69.99 and I'm looking at a possible buy here if they r legit.
Ur input will b great appreciated.

They are scum of the earth!
Basically I went through 2 G2X's with them. It wouldn't have been so bad where it not the fact that it took about a week to ship the phone to them and get it back and by the second one, I was worried that I may not want to keep the T-Mobile service so I just gave up and decided to buy locally. The problem was that Cellhub wanted a restocking fee for the SECOND defective phone of $25, then they charged me $10 for the pleasure of having to send the brick of a phone back, AND I had to pay for shipping($15). So dealing with that much hassle with Cellhub on a phone that is known to be defective (Come on, we all know this, the issues this phone has given me led me here) is just not worth the "savings" you'd get. I wasted $50 on literally nothing thanks to cellhub. A week later I went to a local T-Mobile store and it looked like Cellhub somehow screwed me over with Tmobile and I wasn't allowed to get the phone for the upgrade price. So if I wanted it at the store it would have cost me full price! Basically Cellhub was trying to blacklist me with T-Mobile. T-Mobile was great and we cleared it up (seriously, best Customer service for cell phones, I really hope At&t is denied to purchase them), but it soured me from ever buying from cellhub or even hinting at someone to buy it from there. If I could prevent one person from going through the hell I went through, I will be more then happy to write my story down.
I just placed my order.Let's c what kind of dirt they give me.If phone don't get shipped out today I'm cancelling my order.

My experience has been fine. They have done everything they've said for me.
They sent me my first return w/no problems. The 2nd return, they deferred to T mobile. But he was nice about it, explaining that that is the process. He made sure I had no questions. Also made it a point to tell me to get back to them if I had any problems with the 2nd return. The credit for the free activation won't show for three months or so.
I did have to pay for next day both ways, but that was my idea and my decision. They were gonna send it 2 day. I had a loaner from T mobile that was crap and did not want to wait a week.
I'm not sorry I went through them myself. I would do it again. They are selling this phone for a good price. I always get a real person quickly, which I love. It isn't their fault I've had problems. My daughters G2X is problem free.
It must suck to be an authorized G2X DEALER right now. There sure are a lot of returns.......never mind the standard BS that is sorta inevitable. But I can personally recommend cellhub. Of course I try to be uber friendly and respectful. You definately get what you give.

So far so good. We'll when the phone arrives.
If you get a working phone CellHub would appear to be great. But a TRUE measure of a company is how they handle returns. I had a defective Core i7 980x (a $1,000 processor mind you) and Newegg did a cross ship without charging me on the new one sent in, all I had to do was send in the defective CPU. The whole process took 2 days and I recieved a return shipping label for the defective product. THATS how you handle returns. Cellhub is a joke by comparison. A true measure of an online store is how they handle returns, not sales. Cellhub is not there for you after the sale, so I would avoid them.
Cellhub vs Newegg is not a good comparison, because Newegg offered ****ty customer service when it first started too, only until a few years ago they got a lot better in order to compete with amazon's customer service.
I bought my G2x from cellhub they are okay. I was very lucky to be one of the few to receive a non-defective unit. So hopefully you will get a non-defective device. But since G2x has so many quality control problems I would not have bought it from cellhub because if anything is wrong with it you would have a headache with the return (any online retailer that is). I would have suggested you to get it a local tmobile store because you can drive to the store and ***** at them versus an online retailer you cant really do that much.
I ordered 2 cell phones from Cellhub about 6 years ago. First issue was that I was switching carriers and porting my number. I was assured that my old phone would work until I got the phone and had it switched myself. Not so, the numbers were switched immediately before the phones shipped and my wife and I had no phone service until our phones came in over a week later. One phone was fine for 2 years until we quit using it. The other was an obvious refurb that they honored with the 1 year warranty, but I had to send it in for repair through whatever service they used. I had to send it in twice times for different issues. First was it stopped installing anything I had bought and downloaded, which I dealt with until the bluetooth stopped working. After that the screen died. Then 3 days after my warranty expired the keys quit working and I was out of luck. They wouldn't do anything about it even though it was obvious there were issues with the phone before and I had sent it in twice before for a couple weeks each time. Not that I expected that they would do anything even though it was three days, but it did guarantee I will never go back.
Hope your experience is better and that they have improved since then.
They haven't...

Well, I knew what the return terms were when I bought them. I made sure to check the return policy. So the return shipping, while I see your point, wasn't really an issue for me.
I'm more concerned with how much of a fight it is to make the return. They exchanged the first one quickly and with no hassles.
I knew that going mail order was a bit risky. But as I said, I've been pleased with cellhub. From my experiences with them, they've been very helpful and professional.

So you wanted to exchange a defective phone and Cellhub wanted to charge you $25. restocking, fee, $15.00 shipping, AND $10.00 (for what?) for a total of $50.00 for an exchange.....for a defective phone....that was still under warranty?? Boy, I'd be pissed off.
Hence my hatered of cellhub, I spent $50 on nothing. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in long island against them. Cellhub is pure scum.Avoid!!!!

What would you do?

So as many here know I have a perfect refurbed phone. It has been problem free for like 5 or six weeks. I mean awesomely so. I have however been screaming my head off because I never made it past 14 days four times. And ended up with a refurbed scratched (but otherwise perfect!) phone. Which really bothered me. It was the damn point. So I have the ear of an executive. But was pretty much resigned to the fact......but, After having another issue with billing, I'd contacted this same exec and after straightening out my issue, I restated my case for the umpteenth time. The Exec finally relented and will be sending me a new sealed one! I dont recommend anyone bother with this. It really was a lot of effort. A lot of letter writing and screaming and refusals. If this exec had not mistakenly actually told me (in error) that my fifth was going to be a new sealed unit, I likely not have gotten this. Company policy is very clear and pretty much will not allow it. (Just trying to prevent somone else from quoting my experience-I promise it is special circumstances. And well documented (which helped me make my case).
All that said, I'm to recieve this new sealed phone Post paid, then I'm to package and pay for postage to send back the refurbed G2X OR THEY WILL BILL ME $216.00 FOR THIS REFURBED g2X!
As the words came out of the execs mouth, I thought....$216.00 for a perfectly working G2X? Ummmmmmmm.
So I have a barely used problem free Sensation that I paid 129.00 for, a perfectly working refurbed G2X (w/ a sm. scratch and ghost armor covering it), and a sealed new version (updated w/ gb2.3.3) of the G2X.
My gut feeling? Pay the $216. and keep the refurbed G2X,and sell the new unopened G2X and the practically new Sensation.
What would you do?
I just bought a Sportster, so I could use the money. Got my eye on some nice chrome accessories...
Keep the refurbished. Sell the other 2

If you sign a two year contract...
I have found that karma can be a real *****. Do what you feel is right, yes T-mo has caused people grief with this phone and the returns. Stealing is just plain stealing.
How is paying the 216. stealing? They're giving me the opportunity to buy it by my reckoning. If I even remotely considered this immoral it would be an easy decision, I would return it. So again, how is this stealing? My question has more to do with the known vs the unknown, value vs whether it will be a good one. not any moral question. If I got two in the mail for instance, I would not have to ask what to do.
My question is whether I should just pay for the refurbed one because I know it is PERFECT....except for the scratch.
I'm very afraid, as has been posted here, of getting a sixth bad G2X. From what I've heard it is not certain that these newer ones are anything more than old ones with the new problematic update already installed.
Geesh, now you got me bummed out thinking this is an ethical issue. I honestly not for one second thought there was any question whether it would be dishonest. Anyone else care to comment? I'm not going to do anything based on anyones opinion. I'm confident of my high ground here. But it never occured to me that someone else might think me dishonest. I still think it is simply a sale if I pay the 216.00, not subterfuge.
As I said when I asked the question, it was more like which end result would you pick? For me, it is all about the known.....people are still experiencing screen bleed AND reboots with the new ones from what I've read. This is all uncharted territory for me. On one hand I felt ripped by not having a matching box and that damn scratch.....so now I got what I freakin' wanted but I'm afraid to even break the seal.....and start all over with a bad phone.
I don't think it's an ethical issue at all... 'cause you pay an honest $216 for the extra phone.
However, at this time I'm not sure $216 is a profitable wholesale price point.
How bad do you want an extra G2x?
I now right? I'm thinking it's surely worth $400. Maybe more if the update comes out. That's sealed. If I open it, it becomes used and if it has screen bleed or reboots then I can't in all conscience sell it for much more than trash LOL. Hence my dilemma. When I asked, I intended to keep the new one. It was the $216. that threw me off.

[Q] What's my phone worth?

Im not listing this phone for sale, well not on here anyways, but I am wondering what the sgs4g is actually worth used.
Im a long ways away from upgrade eligibility and I really want a sgs2, so im thinking I have two sgs4g's, i could sell them both and probably get the sgs2 for less out of my pocket than the upgrade price, maybe
but ive searched craigslist and ebay just to explore the idea and see what they are selling for but from what ive seen prices are all over the board (150-250 and yes thats for used)....well who better to ask than a community full of developers
they are both rooted, sim unlocked, and in pretty darn good condition...one phone only has rub marks on battery cover from sliding around on hard surfaces, and the other has the same as well as a couple tiny dings on the edges....no screen flaws whatsoever
so what do you think is a reasonable price to ask for if i do decide to sell them?
EDIT: I checked on the tmobile trade in info and theyre trade in value for my phone was 95
About 200 or so
