[Q] Transformer in France - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm traveling to France (from USA) in a few weeks and planning to take my Transformer. Can anyone give me some info about charging the Transformer over there and if there are any obstacles I should be aware of using wifi? Thanks.
BTW, I'm using Prime 1.83.

I have mi US TF here in Spain. The domestic voltage and plugs are the same on both.
Your charger will work without problems, but you will need a plug adapter, because the plugs are 2 round ones. If you are staying at a hotel maybe they have universal plugs (useful 4 european and US plugs).
Regarding wifi, no problems at all. Amazon app shop won't work and maybe some other location dependant service may deny you service, but everything should run fine.
And yes, if an OTA is aired you will get it . (Oh, I see you are using prime, so no reason to worry about OTA).
Regards.

Sorry, I'm not a seasoned traveler... Are the voltage and plugs the same in France and Spain?

No need to worry about charging, because the charger is a universal one (100-240v). Most european country use 220-240v, here in France we use 220V, like CalvinH said all you need is a plug adaptor (round one like in spain), it's not expensive. For wifi there's no roblem, it's the same thing wherever you go.

Sorry for my bad writing. As aibo said and I was trying to say, YES, both Spain and France (and I think most european countries) use 220Vac.
Regards.

Thanks, guys...

AC Adapter B250

Quick question.
After I got my HTC replaced due to pink screen, I got the new one and the AC adapter that came on the pack was no longer the TC P300 but a small TC B250. Does any one recognizes this and why the pack are being shipped with dif adapter?
I am waiting on HTC reply. Because there is nothing on the webpage or their support know nothing about existence of this adapter.
I think the new AC adapter TC B250 is now standard issue with UK Desires. I got one with my Desire from Handtec but they didn't supply any the actual UK plug (or any plug) with it!
Yep, apparently only to UK Ireland their shipping those adapters. I am trying to get a foretold explanation from HTC so I can update the post.
You mentioned you no plug at all... did they replace the adapter or how did you sort it?
When charging your phone have you notice any issues that of you charge overnight when you unplug it on the morning the battery has 5% off the 100% with np usage?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
thanks for the reply. I am discussing this issue with handtec at the moment. at this stage I would say they are skeptical. I can't comment about the charging performance as I can't use it without a plug!
makes sense
Let's us know about how its going you case. I believe there is no much information about this new adapter. I am still trying to get a product reference or description off HTC but they don't seem to have it. On the accessories page on HTC website I can't find any mention to such model, either in european website neither in the US one..
Here is HTC reply:
" Hello, Thank you for your reply, The device itself is UK specific which is why it came with a UK charger. We cannot change it for an EU one, sorry but you can contact with your retailer. Please do not hesitate to contact us again if required. Thank you for contacting HTC.
Hi Larbac, I thought I would give you an update. Handtec sent me a replacement charger but it is the old style one with the trapeziodal housing. So maybe in time I can find a 3 pin plug for the TC B250 on ebay but until then it will gather dust.

Interesting, as it looks like there are no information about this adapter and whenever you complain the ones they replace with are the old TC P300. That's weird this situation... somewhere, someone is packing this adapter into the phone boxing and this must be recognized somewhere... I just don't know how...
When I complained near my provider and they would like to give me an adapter they had in store. some they normally use for their own phones. So I kept mine.
thanks for update
Some news...
for the first time I see this adapter on the web. Some one is selling them on UK.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-GENUINE-H...PDACharger&hash=item4150951f7e#ht_1501wt_1137
Apart from this my contact with HTC ended on a phone call where they offered me a new charger. I think they though the all purpose was to have and european plug.. While I wanted to know if I can get adapters... Now I have to carry 2 adapters arround..
But the charger they gave me is from previous, older HTC models with USB connection and a micro USB adapter...
I am just tired and I am not continue on the conversation about this issue...
Can you get USA and European two-pin plug tops for the B250 charger? I can't see them anywhere, so why make it 110/240V 50/60Hz if there's only the included UK 3-pin head? The extra cost of including the other two with the phone would be pennies.

As far as I am aware those plugs do not exist. At least I could not find them. And when I queried HTC about they simply post me an adapter from old HTC with an USB 2 MicroUSB adapter.
Did anyone find a place where they sell only the plug? If someone wants to trade a UK plug for a EU plug, hit me up.
It's really stupid to buy a new charger when we could simply change the plug..

HTC desire U.S. Charger?

Hey guys, I live in the U.S. and am extremely dissappointed by the Euro socket charger for the HTC desire. I need a United States wall socket for it, and cant find it online. Does anybody know where I can find one? Thanks in advance.-rs0cal
As it's USB, you can just buy a standard international adapter with various socket/plug fittings

mine came with a US socket, don't know if it's because mine is from Telstra (US 3G version). i'd go to BestBuy or TMobile as well; they sell aftermarket USB wall power units.
And I am from EU, and mine came with US plug
Funny things happen..
Yeah i guess so. Its a A8181 from Mexico I think, since the box is all written in spanish.
Will do, I'll check out my local T-mobile for socket options. Thanks all'.
I got a charger with the option to change plug. Which is nice.
Sent from my HTC Desire
Mine also comes with the USB plug adaptor and two slot ons, one for the UK/Ireland and one for US.
Strange your one not coming with one.
i got a telstra one also and it only came with the aussie plug for the ac adapter
as in it was in 3 pieces, some sort of universal usb adapter brick, a usb cable, and the plugin piece that slides onto the usb adapter brick, and the sline in plug piece is aussie only, came with nothing else.
so i gotta charge it via computer usb for now til i buy something else...
Well there's always the chance that those of us on here who don't travel may be up to just posting over the part that is needed....3-4 quid postage is nothing after all for helping out a fellow XDA member.

[Q] Asus Transformer from US for UK Use

I've been pretty anti-tablet since they started releasing them (I have my Desire HD...why would I want a tablet?????) but after seeing the Asus Transformer I've started to change my mind......partly due to the keyboard/battery dock but mainly because I'm in the US for a while so purchasing one now would mean big savings!!
My question is what problems (if any) would I encounter if I tried using one bought from the US in the UK? What is the charger like (does it have a transformer like laptop chargers which allows variable input voltages)?
Also, if I purchased the dock from the UK would it still work or am I limited to one bought from the US?
So do I assume it should be fine?
The Transformer itself charges via a USB connector, so it should work fine in any country. You'll need a UK-mains to USB3.0 adapter to replace the one that comes with the US Transformer if you want to charge it directly while "undocked" from the PC, but USB is USB everywhere, so the part of the cable that connects to the Transformer should still work fine in the UK.
I have no idea if the docks are region specific, but I'd bet they aren't just because it doesn't make much sense for them to bother going out of their way to make them that way.
i think i would be more concerned about warranty, rumours has it that us transformer is only protected by local warranty, not international warranty

Hmmm good point!
Did a little searching and came across an xda page here asking the same question and it seems it does come with global warranty, but in Europe I think you have to find a local reseller for any claims rather than online.

Ive read elsewhere that the hardware itself is universal, but you may need to continue using the US updates instead of the UK updates (unless you root and install cwm, but that's a different story). But anyways, the keyboard would work from anywhere.
The plug it comes with accepts 240 volts, so you would just need the us/uk plug style adapter (couple bucks i think?). You wouldnt need a voltage adapter though.

It needs 15V to charge I believe. It uses a USB receptacle, but won't charge unless it gets 15V. I plugged in my transformer to my USB 3.0 port and it did not show a battery charging icon. The adapter outputs between 5v and 15v.
To answer the OP's question, the adapter accepts an input voltage of up to 240v, so all you need is a US plug -> UK plug adapter

[Q] ug802 seious wifi issues

As for the wifi. The problem is not the ROM. It is because the patch
antenna is inside very close to the board and TV, and noise from TV is
hurting the signal strength.
Now if you take the case off the ug802 you will see the patch antenna
taped to the inside cover with a VERY long wire! Almost 1 foot wire
length.
You can pull out the patch antenna and reclose the case. Now antenna
can be placed much farther from the ug802 and TV and gets much better
signal."
seller sold knowing of wifi issues and continues to sell the item
will issue refund, too bad it costs more to send back to china then
buy another product.
then, why would i want to trust a guy that just cheated me?

And someone who told you to void the warranty by opening the case?
I had wifi issues but my solution was installing finless 1.4 custom rom, I then plugged it in to the apple ipad 10w usb charger and now my wifi works most of the time. I also have a logitech powered usb hub for my mouse and keyboard so it doesnt strain internal usb.
Not sure if this will work for all but worth a shot. I think the supplied usb power adaptor is not giving the right amount of power causing the unit to do random errors especially with wifi.
Power supply?
I had the problem that the wifi wouldn't work at all. Often it wouldn't find the wifi hardware. I then realized this only happened when I plugged it into the supplied power supply. I tried another power adapter that I had from a phone and it works fine. Not tremendous, but certainly well enough to use.

SBH20/IM750 Wall Charger ?

Hi, just got my SBH20 today and after unboxing it looks like wall charger is missing ? I wasn't expecting to get one in the box but since description in the back of the pack mention it so I wonder if it's an error or not ?
https://www.dropbox.com/sc/00puqji2quekbxi/_f1hklYjXH
Same goes for the IM750, nothing in the box to charge it
https://www.dropbox.com/sc/r52qubyfgef8vv6/ZbOfHeGMvJ
I'll use the MN800 Livewiew charger hope it deliver enough power to charge fastly.
I can't understand that they put a wall charger with Livewiew which I bought 15€ and none for a 50€ headset or 35€ HDMI adapter!
Must be a packing error, I got mine a few weeks ago and it came with the same style charger as my old Xperia Arc. Could be an idea to contact the company you bought it from, might get some conpensation!

Got it from Sony official store. will drop them an email.
Edit : @SonyXperiafr told me that french pack are not supposed to have a charger but it might be different depending of the market.
Will still send an email because french Xperia tweeter made lots of mistakes recently! (like the Xperia S JB update announced that nobody has seen!)
i got SBH20 from ebay.fr and it does have charger included
where did you purchase? it should contain micro usb cable, charger, earphones + 3 rubbers and SBH20 device...
mine bought from Ebay had a charger. Got it from a guy in Poland

Others french buyers told me that they didn't get the charger either.
XperiaBlog says that O2 UK will ship SP without charger for ecological purpose...
Anyone using SBH50 being able to download the userguide PDF ? Impossible to get it from Sony official site, links are missing/dead.
If yes, please post it. Not really intuitive UI...
I got the SRS-BTV5, bluetooth speaker (ball) for free with my pre-ordered T-Mobile Z. It also came with a usb cord only. The paperwork said something about charging it w/ the laptop though, as if that was their plan all along. Maybe that's what they're doing with all Bluetooth devices?
Oddly enough, I can't pair it with my laptop itself.

Didn't try with mine to pair it with pc, I don't know if it's possible but first you have to check which BT service your pc has, it require audio bluetooth connexion.

I got it, actually. Turns out I had to hold the switch to the right for a few seconds, rather than just turn it on... Duhhh, lol.
I also paired it with my PS3, but haven't been able to see if it actually works as a mic or not. Maybe I'll try it this lazy Sunday.
Now, another thing I'm interested in is, can the new bluetooth headphones be used as PS3 mics as well? Haven't found anything on that.

Right, for non nfc devices you have to use the switch to pair in "simple BT mode" instead of just touching it with nfc.
For the PS3 I don't know, the thing that comes to mind is that you have to use a cable for pairing the DualShock3 with the PS3 and I don't know if there is another way to do it, that means your BT headphones need a mini usb port.
Of course I can be wrong like for the audio bluetooth service !
