Quick question.
After I got my HTC replaced due to pink screen, I got the new one and the AC adapter that came on the pack was no longer the TC P300 but a small TC B250. Does any one recognizes this and why the pack are being shipped with dif adapter?
I am waiting on HTC reply. Because there is nothing on the webpage or their support know nothing about existence of this adapter.
I think the new AC adapter TC B250 is now standard issue with UK Desires. I got one with my Desire from Handtec but they didn't supply any the actual UK plug (or any plug) with it!
Yep, apparently only to UK Ireland their shipping those adapters. I am trying to get a foretold explanation from HTC so I can update the post.
You mentioned you no plug at all... did they replace the adapter or how did you sort it?
When charging your phone have you notice any issues that of you charge overnight when you unplug it on the morning the battery has 5% off the 100% with np usage?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
thanks for the reply. I am discussing this issue with handtec at the moment. at this stage I would say they are skeptical. I can't comment about the charging performance as I can't use it without a plug!
makes sense
Let's us know about how its going you case. I believe there is no much information about this new adapter. I am still trying to get a product reference or description off HTC but they don't seem to have it. On the accessories page on HTC website I can't find any mention to such model, either in european website neither in the US one..
Here is HTC reply:
" Hello, Thank you for your reply, The device itself is UK specific which is why it came with a UK charger. We cannot change it for an EU one, sorry but you can contact with your retailer. Please do not hesitate to contact us again if required. Thank you for contacting HTC.
Hi Larbac, I thought I would give you an update. Handtec sent me a replacement charger but it is the old style one with the trapeziodal housing. So maybe in time I can find a 3 pin plug for the TC B250 on ebay but until then it will gather dust.

Interesting, as it looks like there are no information about this adapter and whenever you complain the ones they replace with are the old TC P300. That's weird this situation... somewhere, someone is packing this adapter into the phone boxing and this must be recognized somewhere... I just don't know how...
When I complained near my provider and they would like to give me an adapter they had in store. some they normally use for their own phones. So I kept mine.
thanks for update
Some news...
for the first time I see this adapter on the web. Some one is selling them on UK.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-GENUINE-H...PDACharger&hash=item4150951f7e#ht_1501wt_1137
Apart from this my contact with HTC ended on a phone call where they offered me a new charger. I think they though the all purpose was to have and european plug.. While I wanted to know if I can get adapters... Now I have to carry 2 adapters arround..
But the charger they gave me is from previous, older HTC models with USB connection and a micro USB adapter...
I am just tired and I am not continue on the conversation about this issue...
Can you get USA and European two-pin plug tops for the B250 charger? I can't see them anywhere, so why make it 110/240V 50/60Hz if there's only the included UK 3-pin head? The extra cost of including the other two with the phone would be pennies.

As far as I am aware those plugs do not exist. At least I could not find them. And when I queried HTC about they simply post me an adapter from old HTC with an USB 2 MicroUSB adapter.
Did anyone find a place where they sell only the plug? If someone wants to trade a UK plug for a EU plug, hit me up.
It's really stupid to buy a new charger when we could simply change the plug..

I'm buying one from Clove but it seems to come with a European Plug. I know the HTC power adapter is (in a sense) universal in that the wall part can be interchanged (like on the iPhone). Where can I buy an Australian Wall Plug? I don't think it'll need to be specifically for the Desire as all HTC phones appear to come with the same power plug...
The charger socket on the Desire is MicroUSB. I also live in Oz and will probably just get a mini-micro USB adapter so that I can use any of the 2000 mini USB adapters I have collected over the years
I have also ordered mine from Clove. PM me if you hear any updates.
Edit: only 26.5 hours to go now
I'm also in the same boat, having ordered from Clove.
Maybe something might appear here: http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_phonecat.aspx?i=196001&c=14
Keep us posted if you find anything, as will I.

Yea that seems like the best idea if the Australian Port won't be available. It would be nicest to be able to use the much better designed HTC plug though...

Mobile Fun now have details on the official HTC Desire car kit. Still no price though:
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/htc-desire-car-upgrade-kit-p24570.htm
Apparently placing the device in the holder activates something called the 'navipanel' which must be similar to the 'Car Home' app on the Nexus One.
I'll wait for a price and reviews before deciding whether to replace my current car holder
EDIT
I just found further details on the HTC Accessory site from Expansys. The dock will set you back £65 and isn't due til the 5th July.
http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=199788
Hmm recon there going to put this navi panel on the app market? or do a upgrade?
It's just this.
Regards,
Dave
Sorry to dig up an old thread, but things have moved on with this accessory! It is now available for order (although it is still £65.99!) from htcaccessorystore.
The question then is, is it worth £65.99? Other than auto-loading navipanel what does this give us over a standard mount and car charger?
If somebody buys one and works out what triggers dock mode it would be sweet!
I have recently acquired one of these and it does not activate any software within the phone. It does switch on 'car mode' which allows the speaker-phone to activate when a call comes in. I have contacted HTC support and was given this reply,
"Dear xxxxxx,
Sorry for the delayed response. I have investigated the issue a bit further - the Desire does not come with the "NaviPanel” software, as the manufacturer claims, and there is no download available for it. There is a “Navigation” app, which you can find in the list of all apps, but I am not sure if it is the same. Alternatively, you can go to Android market and search for “Car Home” or “Car dock” and try out some of the 3rd party apps available, but please be aware HTC does not produce those, so you will be using them at your own risk.
To send a reply to this message or let me know I have successfully answered your question log in to our ContactUs site using your email address and your ticket number xxxxxxxxxxxx.
Sincerely,
Viktor"
I am somewhat annoyed that HTC have stated in the car holder instruction manual and in the original press release, that the 'Navipanel' is activated when the phone is docked. It was a huge selling point for me, as I use the phone in the car more than anything and this feature would have made it easier to operate the phone in the dock.
Have you instaled navi panel, you can find it on here somewhere.
I'm thinking of getting one of these, but only if it works properly!
so no one bought this?
I've bought the car kit and just received the shipment. I have to admit it looks really nice and feels robust. I'll be trying some of the third party Apps for the next few days and will keep in touch...
Hi,
I have one question, Does it recognize the charger as USB or AC ?
ThankU

None of the third party app's I've tried could convince me that Car-mode is a great and usable feature. Maybe that's why HTC decided to discontinue (or never started working on?) this feature?
Also,
Using or holding (and even touching for that matter) a phone while driving is illegal in The Netherlands and will cost you about 150,- Euro. Even if it's only being used a a navigation device.
I personally think Google should improve Voice search and release a Dutch version soon

Previously, when using generic car chargers and running CoPilot, my battery still slowly drained. I've noticed that since I've got the official Dock, this problem doesn't occur anymore. So I assume that it'll show AC. I'll have a look at it when driving home today to make sure.

From experience with my Touch Pro and Kaiser, the generic adaptors do not deliver enough power for a phone that is making calls, a Bluetooth connection and GPS. These generic devices seem to deliver USB levels of power. Look at your wall charger and it is rated at 1 Amp. A genuine HTC car charger will give the correct level of power (until the battery gets too hot and shuts off charging) - this hasn't happend on my Desire yet, but would do so on my Touch Pro, even with the AC vent directed at the phone...

a little bit later then promised, but: When connected to the official HTC CarKit, the desire says it's connected to an AC power source.

After I bought the Desire I also also bought a 1200mA (max output current) generic USB charger for use in my car. Friends of mine who have an Iphone were using this charger because this phone also has the problem.
The 'funny' thing is that this charger didn't solve the problem on my Desire. Perhaps HTC chargers identify themselves as some sort of "high current charger"- USB deviceClass, or use a slightly different voltage (e.g. 5.5V instead of 5V?) to identify themselves as AC charger?
No, it's the fact the the middle two contacts are bridged. There's several posts about it in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=670702

Hey guys, I live in the U.S. and am extremely dissappointed by the Euro socket charger for the HTC desire. I need a United States wall socket for it, and cant find it online. Does anybody know where I can find one? Thanks in advance.-rs0cal
As it's USB, you can just buy a standard international adapter with various socket/plug fittings

mine came with a US socket, don't know if it's because mine is from Telstra (US 3G version). i'd go to BestBuy or TMobile as well; they sell aftermarket USB wall power units.
And I am from EU, and mine came with US plug
Funny things happen..
Yeah i guess so. Its a A8181 from Mexico I think, since the box is all written in spanish.
Will do, I'll check out my local T-mobile for socket options. Thanks all'.
I got a charger with the option to change plug. Which is nice.
Sent from my HTC Desire
Mine also comes with the USB plug adaptor and two slot ons, one for the UK/Ireland and one for US.
Strange your one not coming with one.
i got a telstra one also and it only came with the aussie plug for the ac adapter
as in it was in 3 pieces, some sort of universal usb adapter brick, a usb cable, and the plugin piece that slides onto the usb adapter brick, and the sline in plug piece is aussie only, came with nothing else.
so i gotta charge it via computer usb for now til i buy something else...
Well there's always the chance that those of us on here who don't travel may be up to just posting over the part that is needed....3-4 quid postage is nothing after all for helping out a fellow XDA member.
I know this is a stupid question and all, but i sent my phone in for repair, and seem to have lost the usb cord for it. I dont know if it NEEDS a specific one, because when i got it, i used an older one and it didn't work to connect it and transfer files to computer. So if i want to go to best buy or something and buy a new one, what should i look for?
Any Micro-USB cord will work. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-BlackBerry-Micro-Cable-ASY-18683-001/dp/B004FP8HL0
or jsut buy an new charger and usb cable.
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-ETA0U...4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1319570857&sr=1-4
any mini usb to usb cord will do. Its a common cable so most electronic store will have them. try walmart or radio shack if you dont to go shop online.

Terrible idea, I bought a charger from Wal-Mart and while its charging, the touch screen is non functional, so the only way use the phone is to unplug.
Use Prime's link and order a legit Samsung branded one (cheaper anyways) or go to AT&T. If you buy a random/generic charger from somewhere and it jacks up your phone, AT&T can actually deny you your warranty.

I never had any problems, oh well, in this case, better to buy the quality brand, better to be safe then sorry, right?
I've been getting $0.99 cent retractable chargers from eBay. Yeah they come from Hong Kong and they aren't the best quality. But they work just fine and at such a cheap price I buy a bunch at a time and just keep one at every location I go. I have never had any problems at all with the cheap ones.
I did buy an "official" one from Samsung and honestly I see no difference.

When I had my Blackjack ages ago, I bought all sorts of ebay accessories for it including chargers and batteries. It was sort of a hit and miss for me and sometimes I would lose button functions or a battery would never hold a charge. I've just given up on trying to save a couple bucks.
Yeah I guess I've just lucky.
Here's the one's I've been getting if this helps anyone.

Actually you need one for charge and sync. Att will sell you a charge only if you tell them you need a new cable. All micro usb cables for the infuse are not the same.

yup i use my kindle cable too, charger works great as well
I received my tablet from Amazon today with an AC adapter and U.S. plug which slides on to the adapter. Obviously the plug itself is interchangeable with plugs from other countries - where are they? Need one for Aus.

Just use a converter plug like I did. Works just as well. It's unlikely they will have AUS/NZ plugs for the adapter because the device isn't meant to be sold here.
Currently using a converter but it makes it a bit bulky. Considering the minimal amount of original/aftermarket accessories available at this stage, maybe I'll have to wait a few more weeks/months?
I am also looking for one of these I am sure there is an adapter for AU they have one for the UK and Europe in the one box.
Just bend the plugs with pliers.

Got my replacement tablet a couple of weeks ago and it include a power plug adapter for AUS, UK, US and EUR. All slide onto the original charger. Still haven't seen them for sale separately.
