Getting videos through the Market - HTC Inspire 4G

I am not able to view videos from the Market. It doesn't show up at all. I went to the web market and I see the Videos app from Google, but it tells me that it is incompatible with my phone. I go to the movies section of the Market online and it will not allow me to select my phone as an option to download. Has anyone else run into this issue? I'm running on an unrooted, stock Inspire.
Much thanks for any assistance.

It's because you are rooted. I haven't heard a workaround yet.

I have never rooted my phone. I bought it new from AT&T and the replacement was picked up from AT&T. Is it possible they could have given me a rooted phone? How can I find out?

I tried that and I still had holes in my market, although I could use the videos app.

My wife's Inspire is not rooted and the market doesn't have the video tab for her neither. It is because it is not officially supported for the Inspire, although it is said that it works for non rooted Inspires. There is an apk floating around here that will allow you to do a manual install.

If you are referring to Google Talk, then unfortunately on T-Mobile video over 3G is not supported. Only WiFi.
The updated added support for video chat over 3g/4g as well, but T-Mobile has chosen to not allow it.
You need to mod your gservices.db... on TMO over 3g works like a charm

Care to explain or give us link to the info? Thanks.

thanks, but it seems odd that t-mobile would disable it as they don't have a problem with myTouch 3/4G video calling over 3/4G. I'll call them up and see where that takes me. thanks!

Thanks!
T-Mobile confirmed that they restrict google talk video chat. I am guessing the only option is rooting my Nexus s then...
I really hoped that with Nexus s I would not have to root because this is supposed to be pure android experience, but I guess that the pure android experience is a BIG FAT LIE!

Video market

Does the inspire 4g support videos in the market basket cause I'm on the latest version of the market and the videos tab is missing.

Google pulled a complete bit** move and blocked it for rooted users. Even then, I'm unable to get it on unrooted stock.
(and on another note, it's my 100th post! *party poppers*)
Actually it has nothing to do with rooted/unrooted. It is not available for any model of Desire HD/Inspire rooted or non rooted. I have other phones which are rooted and have the video tab.

+1.
It's not available on my wifes stock, never rooted Inspire and she has the new market. It updated itself to the new version recently.
Yes it does
I had the movies tab on my budget 908s. After rooting it's gone.

Pretty sure it won't, I believe that Supports Samsung devices, and only specific ones.
The app actually doesn't work on the galaxy s or s2, also doesn't work on the HTC desire. Most likely doesn't work on the One S though

Works for me.
I've used it on my HTC One S without any problems. Derooted and then logged in to Play Movies easily!
Is there anything special that I need to do to make this work? I tried loading it with a rooted HOS. Any tips or tricks would be appreciated. It would be nice to play the HTC Watch movies I have paid for and the same with Google Play movies.
Thanks

Sometimes you need to reboot after de-rooting. I haven't had to with my phone, but some other phones I have had have required it. You can also try killing the app after de-rooting. I haven't had any problems accessing movies this way.

probably because google or craigslist pulled the app down. has nothing to do with the inspire, might want to contact the devs for that. google is your friend.
It shows on Google play website, just says unavailable for inspire and att....

works on my inspire, just tested it. Did you change your screen DPI? If so that would be why you can't download many apps. There is a procedure to get around that, i dont have the link offhand though.

It doesn't work well anyway. I can download it to mine, but the search functions were so terrible it was better to use the browser. I deleted it.

app refuses to run due to rooted phone

I am using Uniporn ICS and trying to run an app from my cable company (Time Warner in upstate NY) the app has a feature to let me watch live tv on the phone if using ICS but when I try to use that feature it tells me that rooted phones are not supported. Anyone have a clue as to how to get around that issue?
There's a temp unroot function in the super user app...just make sure you have thewest version from playstore

Sorry, was worth a shot :/, I wonder what they have against rooted phones....I mean even the att bloat works on a rooted phone, as well as the samsung bloat...so if the manufacturer and the carrier don't block there apps from rooted phones...then why should a cable company? I would send the devs an email and complain...hell ill download the app and complain myself
What twc app is it?
