Nexus s, Video chat only over wifi after 2.3.4 ota update? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I just got my ota update to 2.3.4 and Irena seems that I can only use video over wifi. I only tried phone to PC and got a pop up that I can only video char over wifi. I thought this was supposed to be over 3g as well , can anyone confirm please.?

If you are referring to Google Talk, then unfortunately on T-Mobile video over 3G is not supported. Only WiFi.
The updated added support for video chat over 3g/4g as well, but T-Mobile has chosen to not allow it.

You need to mod your gservices.db... on TMO over 3g works like a charm

Care to explain or give us link to the info? Thanks.

thanks, but it seems odd that t-mobile would disable it as they don't have a problem with myTouch 3/4G video calling over 3/4G. I'll call them up and see where that takes me. thanks!

Thanks!
T-Mobile confirmed that they restrict google talk video chat. I am guessing the only option is rooting my Nexus s then...
I really hoped that with Nexus s I would not have to root because this is supposed to be pure android experience, but I guess that the pure android experience is a BIG FAT LIE!

siriusxm app

i dont know if anyone knows about sirius xm app being released so i am letting one know it works great on my nexus with dock so i am posting a linkhttp://www.siriusxm.com/app-download/android/siriusxm.apk
and if it comes up as a zip just rename it .apk for the file extension
Took me a little while to find it after install since the App name in the drawer was "Online", but other than that its been working great for me this morning over WiFi
they only give you a free 7 day trial, then you must subscribe.
Damnit, damnit .. no Howard.
Thanks. I had signed up to be notified of this but they didn't send anything.
Sucks we can't get Howard, but NFL Radio should tide me over.
This app Siriusly sucks balls. How are you going to release an app and block your flagship station? Total fail!!!!
Awesome, thanks!
Does this only work over wifi?
Works great with my already active Sirius account.

froyo, holmes.
I'm using Froyo and on 3g it connects to give station listings and let.gr log in, but when I attempt to listen to something complains that I need a data connection.
Worked on EVDO on my Girlfriend's new Samsung Moment I got her today, did not work on T-Mobile 3g on my Nexus one, however I didn't have the greatest reception. Worked great on Wifi though.
I'm on froyo, with cyans root, (needed busybox) and it worked fine over 3g with me.
Do you need to pay extra for the mobile service if you already have an active account with them or is that all you need?

Skype on G2X is it working?

Hi to all, if any of u guys can check if Skype works on G2X. Thank you

I too will like to know.
Why wouldn't it work? Are you talking about video calling? The app hasn't been updated for that yet. I know that the Thunderbolt leak that came out has a version that includes the video chat option. You could find that leaked file and pull the skype app out of it.

Yes, Skype works. It works over Wifi and over 3G on the G2X. Get the new version that released on the Market today.
But not with video. On Skype's site, the G2X is not "officially" supported.

Confirmed working on my nexus one, although I didn't have a chance to test video and voice (where are my friends?)
awesome! go go go!
I have installed the flashable update file.
Voice chat works, audio quality is very good.
I don't test video chat

I forgot about that one +1
The voice wasn't working for me. The video was but I could only see their video, they couldn't see mine.
EDIT: Scratch that. Voice works both ways. Video still only works one way and I still don't appear to the user to have voice/video capability, but I can call them.
It installs okay for me. Running superaosp v6.2, but the voice chat options are grayed out. Maybe because of my rom?
Edit: okay now it's working. Weird.

If you have a 2.3 rom on it, it might. It seems 2.3.4 might be required for it to work 100% though. If you are running 2.2.x or lower, it won't work since it uses the new camera API in Gingerbread.
Does this enable me to dial to any phone number using my Google Voice account (ie no cell phone minutes) similar to the function in Gmail on a PC?
I think it works only on WIFI. If I try calling someone on mobile data, it asks for WIFI connection. Anybody else having this issue. Sorry if I am missing something very basic here ( CM 7.0.2)

Guys try vtok (available in the Android market) .. it works and handles both cameras with ease in gtalk.

There's a wifi plus 3g version floating around xda somewhere.
I'm using it and work well with 3G
Can you please post the apk or link of the[forum thread. I tried searching but could not locate the specific thread. QUOTE=baseballfanz;14287497]There's a wifi plus 3g version floating around xda somewhere.

just look at the link in the OP:

No voice nexus one
Tried several versions on my nexus one:
gtalk1.3.nowifi.ffc-signed.zip
JVQ_Talk2_v1_2.zip
talk1.3.nowifi.v2-signed.zip
used adb to install
All claim to be talk1.3
But I don't see any voice icon, and in a chat, selecting 'more' shows voice chat is grayed out.
I DID enable voice/video.
Only thing I can think of is I'm on 3g, not wifi ATM. But several of these versions should allow voice on 3g, right?

Video Call for NS

Hi,
I've read a lot of threads, but no luck and no info about it.
IS it possible to have the SGS phone interface (GSM or 3G) Video Call for our Nexus S??
I'm not interested on Gtalk Video Call... I want 3G Video Call
Best Regards,
R
simply no
i personally asked this question before, it's supposedly not doable without the TW framework from SGS i9000
Tango works pretty good and will use the front facing cam.

(Question) Skype not receiving audio from the microphone?

I've recently got this phone after selling my mytouch 3g slide to use as a backup phone, and yesterday, I noticed when I was using skype, the phone can't hear me, I tried the skype test call and calling people on skype. I'm running sensei's sense

There is one version that is actually working on SK4G. Found it somewhere here, on XDA, but can't remember original thread. Hope it's OK to post external URL here: http://xdjh.info/ftp/share/apk/skype_for_SK4G.apk
You need to set 'Use MODE_ON_CALL' in 'Tweaks', audio works fine with that. Both cameras works too. I've tested this software on RAGE firmware - everything works.
