[Q] fastest camera - Milestone XT720 General

Like the title say... how does i get the camera of my XT720 faster, especially the flash because when I take pictures without flash the camera is quite fast but when I take pictures with flash is super slow

It isn't a typical LED flash that is always ready. It is a Xenon flash, so it has to charge each time. My thinking is that it will take awhile to charge the first time but then after that, the charge time should be a bit shorter. If you want to rapid fire some shots, I suggest a regular camera cause I am pretty sure ours can't do it fast enough.

Another thing... i think that the swap slow down the data write when i took photos with my phone... im using CM6.3 of Mz with swap boot5.img
Sorry for my bad english

Whatever class SD card you have also makes a difference in the write speed when taking pictures. A class 2 (say the one that came with the phone) wil be horrible compared to a class 6 or 10. The higher the card the faster the speed of write.

Jaja i figure that is the class of my sd jaja... i will buy a 8gb class 10... that might solve the problem of the camera and the gallery

Erratic "Application Manager" behaviour

Hi Guys
Anyone noticed this problem: whenever you enter the Application Manager and click on an application to see the size of the app or transfer it to the SD card, the size numbers start flickering very fast and then they stabilize on 0 (zero). I have to use the back button then go back into the same application to see the actual numbers
I have to stay this initial release of the Sensation software is extremely buggy, my DHD was way smoother and bug free, hope HTC comes up with updates very soon
I am on the ASIA WWE version 28.707.2.1
Yes, have seen this alot... even caused a few non responsive crashes - requiring a battery pull to resolve...
This also happens when the phone is trying to read your sd card. I've been using a sd card that hasn't been formatted in a while, so last night I saved everything and formatted it. Since then, no problems.

I also experienced it. But will try formatting as Worldwide60 suggested.
Same here, ill give it a try too!

+1 also just changed to a fresh formatted 16 Gig Micro SD card still have the App Manager shutter
Swyped from HTC Pyramid, using XDA Premium App.
Anyone getting errors moving apps to sd using the application storage space saving feature? I select apps to move and it will move a few then tell me there is no more space on my sd card - there's 11gb free. I keep cycling through and it will move more but then it finally won't move any more. HTC is on some bull**** releasing this buggy crap.
I updated to 1.34.401.1 and this behavior is gone. All is normal.
Thought it was just me! Ill be waiting for the ota

Normal (but buggy) behaviour...my Nexus One did this too. I think it happens because I'm always trying to move apps to SD too fast.
edit: Now wife just complained about having to try twice or more on some of her apps!
I have the same problem too.Formatted my 16 gig class 6 card didn't help.oh well not a biggie for me,since i'm not experiencing any of the more serious/annoying issues many are reporting here....knocking on wood.

Micro SD slot

I got my transformer yesterday. Best thing I've ever bought. However.....when inserting a SD into the slot. It won't recognise it properly. I have to use my finger to push it in a little more before it will accept it.
Is this a known problem? I will try another couple of SD cards later but don't want to have to have it repaired a day after getting it.

yes.. never insert or remove your card with power on... Cant cause corrupt to the card..
Thanks for that advice. It still doesn't explain whether there is a problem with the SD slot on the pad.
It shouldn't need pushing in further once the sd 'clips' have engaged.

i guess its the way the tablet was design.. u will get use to it...
also put it in slow cuz at times it seems has if im gonna break my card..
I don't think that I should have to get used to constantly pushing on the SD when I need to use it. Haha. Of o release my finger it won't read. It requires constant pressure. Hopefully its just that card. Thanks anyway.

This happened to me the first time, the card needs to go all way to the end but since it get the mechanism at half insert, it might look that its inserted correctly when it isnt.
I must just show its bare head (or bottom) in the side of the TF. If you find that pushing the card to the end, it doesn't stay there (it usually recoils a little), then maybe the mechanism of the slot is faulty (the spring might be loose).

[Q] How Long Does NAND Backup Take?

I'm sure this has been asked, but since the search function is down right now, I'll just ask in a new thread. How long should a NAND backup take? I am using CWM 6.0.1.0, and it's been churning for about an hour now. It's not stuck, and it's making progress, it's just really slow. I am backing up a ROM based on stock.
Admittedly, I am not using an ultra-fast SD card, but this still seems long to me. For those of you that flash a lot, do you typically backup to the internal or external storage? Is the internal storage perhaps faster than an SD card that is a few years old?
Thanks!
How many apps do you have on there? I know that that can make a difference. An hour seems long to me. It takes my DX about 8 or so minutes
Sent from my DROIDX using xda premium
Mine typically just a couple of minutes for both backup and restore. My Thunderbolt took an eternity.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
i have made many back ups on my S3. I personly make 2 backups. 1 on the Internal SD and one on the External SD. i do them both at the same time. I do that just incase maybe my 32gig ultra card goes bad.
Takes me around 10 mins or so to do both. I have a lot of apps but they are not big in size. Have fun

[Q] Autofocus

So im thinking about getting a nexus 5 but I want to know if the autofocus issue was ever fixed?? I love taking photos and videos but if the autofocus makes the camera not really useable in a lot of circumstances then I probably wont get it. Tried to find another thread to see if this problem was corrected by developers via a rom or a flash or if it is hardware related.
I have never had an issue. And I take plenty of photos.

+1 for photos. Not for video though. The autofocus is terrible in videos. It's constantly focusing every 2-3 seconds and it makes the video look really odd.
To OP: No, it hasn't been fixed.
The videos I have taken look just fine. I have a puppy and took videos of her running in the snow and they all came out good.

Not my video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFxHkuAfj48
Notice the "pulsing" every 2-3 seconds? That's what I mean. If yours doesn't have that, that's good, but most of us have that problem. I guess it's only noticeable when you don't move the camera.
So based that it is feburary, I'm assuming this is a hardware issue. The video breathing problem is ridiculous and also happens on the Nexus 5. That's my concern. If it has been solved in a rom, then perfect, but if this problem is unfixable then thats a dealbreaker for me. I do alot of videos with my phone and I dont want to pay for a $600 phone if I cant do something basic as record videos on it.

If you are that interested in videos, you should consider in investing an actual video camera. Phones aren't really meant to meet the standards of camcorders and other video capture devices, rather than to just catch an interesting moment of someones live with a casual photo/video. I know it sounds rather inconvenient and superficial, but thats just my two cents on the subject.
Edit: I've never had trouble with the breathing video. But then again I don't really use that option that much.
I can't reproduce the refocus whilst holding it still / panning left or right. I can only reproduce it if I move the lens further or nearer to the object. Not a tiny amount that's analogous with a slight wobble or the human conditions rather feeble attempt at stillness - no. I have to almost exaggerate the movement to trigger autofocus
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
for me it refocuses evety time i move the phone, left/right, up/down, or further/closer. but it doesnt refocus at all when im moving.
not to be graphic but I filmed a video of some dirty deeds and quality was awesome. phone was not moving. I believe some roms have more issues then others. some roms the video is extremely dark and some roms when I take a camera picture with flash is snaps the photo to fast and just captures the flash.

Should I cancel s6 order? Heard battery sucks.

I was real excited to get the s6 on Verizon. I ordered it last night but now I'm undecided and feel like I should cancel it because I keep reading on here that the battery drains like mad for no reason. I have the HTC one m7 right now and the battery sucks. What do you guys think? I don't have much time to cancel. I've also read some stuff about how calls drop bcuz something is different now. Like you can't use data and talk on the phone with the same time unless you're on lte.

Well, they already sent out my order do it should be getting here tomorrow. Now I just hope 32 gb is enough. I tend to not keep a lot of stuff on my phone so in sure it will be fine..

Not sure why you've heard such things. Battery life is fine. If you see you start getting some strange drain, a restart fixes it. Only happens to me once every couple days. 5.1 will fix it for good. Also, I've had no issues with calls dropping so I'm not sure where you heard that.
As for data while on a call, that's VoLTE (voice over LTE) or HD Voice as Verizon calls it. If you're moving and are connected to a tower, but swap to a different tower that doesn't support it (very rare) the call will drop. If you're talking to someone while being stationary, you'll never have an issue. You can turn off HD Voice, but you won't be able to use data while on a call.

If storage becomes a issue there are quite a few options for a USB drive for the phone. I Googled "usb drive for phone" and came up with a ton of options. I usually use WIFI file transfer Pro to transfer files to and from my PC.

Maybe because people don't want to carry another item around, plug it in and out, having an ugly thing plugged into this beautiful device.
And I bet people have other reasons too

Do you want to carry around a USB OTG cable and flash drive or memory card everywhere you go, having to plug it in and out when wanting to access data on it?
I have had fine battery life. I also was worried so i bought one of the samsung wireless charges to sit on my desk. My phone - for the most part - sits on my desk anyway during the day. However i find myself rarely putting phone on there as there is no need. My phone easily lasts all day with normal use.
So I got the phone today and I'm in love. The build on mine is absolutely perfect. Everything is lined up perfect. No weird pink or yellow tint on the screen. I couldn't find a single scratch anywhere on the phone which was impossible to find with the HTC one. I literally looked at 6 htc ones at the Verizon store and they all had some scratch or something on the body of the phone. I can't believe how fast this phone is and I'm at 2 hours on screen time and I'm still at 60 percent battery. Does that seem pretty good? Only on first charge ever too. Been on wifi the whole time and I disabled lots of bloat ware.
