[Q] Some files in provided links are unavailable... - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

I was looking through some of the Sense2.5 appearance tweaks threads, and almost all of the links to the cab files are dead ends!
I'm posting because my old TP2 died on me, which had WM6.1 and an older manila version. Now, my new TP2 has WM6.5 and Sense 2.5, and I was looking to tweak it out like I did with my old phone, but some of the apps I have don't work, and now I've run into all these dead links. I'm more specifically referring to removing the backgrounds from contacts, calander, etc, and things like that.
I looked through the "read first" threads, but could only locate the afformentioned dead links.

request in the thread...someone might be able to upload them again and provide mirror links !

I've actually managed to piece together most of the components from various places. Just took longer than I had hoped.

Official Kitchen Pantry Thread

A great idea was brought to my attention by DaKender and rather than wait on a poll to fill in, I thought I'd just go ahead and start it.
This thread is only for the request and posting of working packages for kitchens. A great place to learn how to make packages is here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=303195
Kitchen authors, please PM me with posts that can be moved into this thread so you can keep your kitchen threads cleaner and answer tech questions.
If you are posting a package:
1) Packages may only consist of free software or software embedded in a factory ROM.
2) Package(s) must work and have been used by the poster in cooking a ROM. Please state the kitchen you used.
3) Uploads must be named according to contents (i.e. Compressed_Office_2007_for_318_build.zip).
4) You must state the contents of the package in your post. Not every little thing but enough for a person to make an informed decision to use the package or not. Packages do not have to include an option.xml file. However, they must include an initfileflashes.dat as well as .rgu and .dsm files.
5) If your package is too big, please use the uploads/Wizard section of the FTP to post and post the link.
If you are posting a request:
1) Click on the paperclip icon on the main forum page next to this thread to see if a package you are requesting has already been posted. This is the most important rule!
2) Include requests for multiple packages in a single post. No need in cluttering the thread with multiple requests by the same person.
Please keep this thread clean. Useless or off-topic posts will be promptly deleted.
FTP Kitchen Pantry is now open. Please upload packages to there. The address is: ftp://xdaupload:xda:@ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/WIZARD/Kitchen_Pantry
Requesting packages for:
Mobireader
SPB Mobile Shell v1.5
Coreplayer v1.04
HTC X-Button-task manager (drop down menu one)
i can provide cab's if necessary. im at college right now so will edit the post later on tonight!
thanx
VoIP Package
Uploaded to the ftp server are the working VoIP packages for WM6. The zip file contains 2 packages which were used to cook my latest ROM in double_ofour's kitchen. No initflashfiles.dat is needed because these are SYS modules.
Link:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/WIZARD/Kitchen_Pantry/VoIP.zip
This is a great idea to have an "almighty" thread with all packages around here in one place. I also agree with the idea of requesting packages and fulfilling requests.
I don't understand why people won't cooperate. Unfortunately i don't have any packs on my PC, but i will contribute as soon as possible.
Cheers !
.NET2 SP2
Here's a working package with .NETCF2 SP2. Works in double_ofour's kitchen. .zip file contains one package. There are no modules in this package as in the original.

Just wanted to say "THANK YOU" for doing this. I just wish I had the time and knowledge to do it. Will do my best to help contribute, just a busy time at work during the summer season, feel like the one legged man in a butt kicking contest lately....... If I can help out in any way, just let me know, I'll do my best.

Does size matter... when it comes to OEM/ROM package, that is?
I'm understanding the 54-ish mb ROM limit, but Can anyone off the top of their heads say how that breaks down system vs. extras? What the OEM folder size limit? How much memory does it actually save to put less stuff in the OEM, all? None? some? How different is the TouchMyCube built in, size-wise. Anyone tried sticking in the cube after flashing?
OK, this went a little too far, but it would be nice to benefit from experience rather than fumble around trying something new (there I go again).
I think it's a stitch that people are flashing using mirrors....
BTW, I'm working on a cab list for the pantry so people can taste before they buy. Feel free to PM me if you know one that probably isn't posted or might be hard to find. (Got the ArcSoft MMS; thx Ingenetics for asking for it.)
(Up to interpretation: )
You can eliminate packages from either side, so the question might possibly be. "What packages can be deleted from the SYS folder to make room for additional OEM folder items?" Many people have removed VoIP, Catalog(ue), Voice Command, Windows Live, Autoupdate and Office Mobile to name most. All but Autoupdate and Catalog(ue) are deleted or have different versions placed in the various official ROM's. It's really a zero-sum game adding and subtracting packages.
\Windows
After cooking a couple roms (nothing special, nor would I want to publish them as they are, but working on it) I'm pretty convinced that the more there is in the Windows directory the slower the OS. I did a bunch of the regedits manually b4 build instead of using rgus and deleted Adobe, replaced it w/ Xpdf (1/3 the size & I like it better, plus the source code is available) and MS Voice Command and got a substantial performance difference, subjectively, even after installing lots and lots of other crap (Cyberon Voice dial & commander, gigantic spb stuff, pocket informant... locally (\Program Files and on card). What softwate do people use for benchmarking?
Any chance we could get one of these threads in the Hermes WM6 forum. There
seems to be a lot of interest in home cooking right now with the release of Core and Pandora kitchens.
I've uploaded four new packages today.
Office 2 k 7 Compressed for Build 318: The exe's only have been compressed. This package integrates the fix needed to make 2 k 7 run on versions of WM6 that do not already have it. It was used to cook my own ROM. It contains no initflashfiles.dat.
ftp://xda:[email protected]tp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/WIZARD/Kitchen_Pantry/Office_2007_Compressed.zip
Windows Live Search: Latest version (I think). Contains initflashfiles.dat and shortcuts.
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/WIZARD/Kitchen_Pantry/Live Search.zip
Esmertec Java: Version comes from the Herald. I'll edit the post after a while to give numbers. Contains initflashfiles.dat and shortcuts.

Hey Jwgz!
How's going btw?
I'm almost releasing my own ROM finally! Have been cooking so many ROM's with so many different kitchens and I think I can upload a few functional OEM packages! But It will be directly via upload link at our FTP server.
So, preparing and update news later when I finish!
Good initiative !
Rgs,
Xpdf
Can somebody please upload xpdf package. I am looking for files to cook in a ROM, not the cab file. Thanks in advance.
I'm well guys...I'm just swamped at the moment. New job, new house and that's just the beginning. I'll be keeping in touch. I have the pocketxpdf package, but I'm on a dial-up connection right now. As soon as I can get real internet, I'll do it. If someone can beat me to it though...
Pocketxpdf
Initflashfiles included along with .dsm file and fonts. Used in my personal ROM.

No doubt you guys have seen the massive OEM Pack included in mattk_r's Rom Kitchen. Links to ver 3.9 are in the first post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311144
I sent in some packages that may make it into ver 4.0, but also want to cross post here in case someone's looking for them. Sorry for the double post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1436358&postcount=133
Include in my attachment are xnView Pocket, cLaunch today plug-in, Calendar Plus today plug-in, Tascal Reg Editor, a Unit Conversion utility, and a simple countdown timer I use when grilling steaks. Cheers
Maybe you can add to the first post that request and posts of paid for software isn't allowed. Or maybe i'm wrong in understanding this rule.
Also maybe a link to....... Man is the search horrib

HTC Home

Hi,
This is my first post here. Please excuse me if I post in the wrong section, or if this is already asked.
I am borrowing a brand new HTC TyTN II, and I see this have a nice new Today screen with a big digital clock, a link to favourite persons, etc.
I think this might be called HTC Home, because it dissapears if I uncheck this in the Today Items list.
Question is:
- Is this an application that can be downloaded somewhere and installed on othe HTC devices?
- Will this only work on WM6 devices, or also on my old HTC P3600 WM5 device?
- If this is not possible to download, but embedded in the ROM, is there any easy way to "extract" this from the device I borrow? (could this be a CAB file that is in some hidden area on the phone)
Could someone please help me with these questions, or refer me to some links where this have already been discussed
Br,
Grim
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319658&highlight=WM5HTCHome6Tab
Thanks for your answer.
I have downloaded and tested that several "Helmi" versions works OK on both my semidefekt (no sound/camera due to the fact that I have ripped those out to use on another phone) I-mate Jamin (with QTEK ROM) and my HTC P3600.
Both the 3 tab and 6 tab versions worked. For my P3600 all features seemed to work. Great!
Only some more questions about this:
a) The link you gave me contained a lot of pages, and a lot of sub links to other posts and versions. In fact it seems that there is very many versions of this plugin lying around on your and other similar sites.
It would be very nice if this tool could be added in the CAB archives page with a new clean post that lists what is the newest and most current version, and what version is for what phone, as it is quite difficult to follow all these pages lying around in the forum (which also is the reason why I reply in this post rather than in one of the many other existing ones).
Would this be something you eminent persons would consider?
b) I tried both the Helmi 3/6 tab versions and the Kaiser 5 tab versions. None of the Kaiser versions worked on my Imate JAmin/P3600, but I assume this is because the Kaiser versions obviously is intended for a different type of phone (or maybe it is WM6 they are intended for?)
Is this true?
c) If not, do these versions have any features that the Helmi versions don't have?
d) I tried these versions of the "Helmi" editions:
- HtcHome6_WM5_comp_sdkcert.cab (with the extra SDK_CERT.cab),
- HTCHomeWM56Tab.cab
- HtcHome6_WM5_comp.cab
They all had slightly different file sizes, and contained a bit different number of files/reg keys. So my question is: What is the newest and most stable version? (which version should I use?)
e) Are there other versions than these that are newer/better for the above mentioned phones?
As you see, I got a bit confused about all these pages. I got it working, so that is great, but if someone would bother to clarify these issues, and maybe even make a sticky post or add it to the CAB vaults, that would be even more great!

Dutty's DualTouch v4 or something else?

This is my first post, so please be gentle.
I only recently got my Kaiser (two weeks), and I've been toying with different ROMs. I tried QMobile 1.2, and it seemed alright, but I keep seeing Youtube videos about the "Cube", and it looks like it'd be really handy to have since I don't like pulling out my stylus. It seemed like QMobile 1.2 had "TouchFlo", but I can't seem to find the same "cube" navigation demonstrated in the videos.
I've spent 3-4 days doing nothing but reading the Wiki and forums, as I didn't want to make another duplication of a question asked dozens of times. I've got a notebook with 5 pages of acronyms and numbers, already
So - from what I can gather, Dutty's ROMs seem to be the best I can find that have this Cube thing, as well as what seems to be extensive customization.
My Kaiser is HardSPL'd and I've downloaded and installed QMobile 1.2, so I'm relatively familiar with the process.
This (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=361544) thread seems to be about the "Duttys DualTouch v4 RTM Release", which appears to be WM6.0 and what I want. After 30 searches across the Forum and Wiki all I find is discussion about a 6.1 version being available, but I'm not really interested in that until it's officially released (with documentation).
My verbose background aside, I can't seem to find a download link for this release. When I go to the Dutty's lives-in-eu site, I get a server-not-found error. A few pages back in the thread there is another link, but it was password protected.
If for whatever reason Dutty's site has been removed, can anyone else recommend a ROM that has lots of space, the "cube" (or similar finger navigation), slide to unlock and AT&T Tilt stuff (like a compatible radio and Connection Settings)?
Help?
I should also mention that I really appreciated the "Acronyms" sections of the Wiki and FAQ. My first reading of the board was nearly impossible with the number of acronyms. Perhaps someone could add something explaining the 'Cube' ? It seems like a very big feature for the Tilt / Touch, but I can't find a good explanation of what TouchFlo / FTouchFlo / Cube etc., really are, where they came from, etc.
Dutty's new ROM is not available yet. Friday is what he is saying. I use his v4 and it works great other than the damn weather plugin that I finally got P1tater to help me out with. Very fast, and stable.
Here is an alternate link for the V4
http://www.4shared.com/file/36654074/65521948/Duttys_Dualtouch_v4_RTM.html?dirPwdVerified=1f45688
This is the best cube.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=358102
Here we go.
Ftouchflo enables you to drag you finger across the screen for scrolling.
FtouchfloConfig is the app to allow you to access the cube. Once enabled you can "usually" drag you finger from bottom to top of your screen to launch the cube. If you can't get it try to reduce the duration from 100 to 300.
Dutty V4 is a very good WM6 rom. It is his current stable release. He is working on 6.1, and a lot of peeps on here are chomping at the bit for it.
Unfortunatley his download section is down (hence the page not found error on the site).
I'd recommend a Schaps or Alex rom at the moment, if you can't get dutties.
Alex has a Wiki page that explains wha is in each. There are 7 versions, including a cube one.
My advice to you is keep reading posts, and it will all start to make sense.
You can install anything you want (eg SU2U), try searching for the cabs or ask if you are really stuck or don't know what summat is called. you can use google, see the stcky on the ofther kaser post.
To be honest it is all down to personal prefs. All the chefs here are very good at what they do... Schaps, Dutty, Alex et al. It doesn't cost anything to flash a new ROM everyday (unless you muck it up ) so try all of the ROMS here and see which one suits your prefs best.
I think the server Dutty is using is down right now, and that's why you are unable to download DualTouch V4. Check the site: http://duttythroy.lives-in.eu/cms/ every now and then, and if it comes back up, there will be a folder called DualTouch where you will be able to download the ROM.
For now, its possible to get the cube on the Q-Mobile ROM. Visit this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350011 and download the files. I believe this cube runs quite well. It has a different skin than the original cube, but poorlyduck has also included files to revert back to the original skin. Just read the thread and I'm sure you will figure it out...
Hope that helps...
Wow you guys all nailed it.
Thank you Dave for the explanation, I added it to my notebook. Is FTouchFlo something that HTC made for the Kaiser or did someone port it over? If so, whom? I'd like to see what else they did, maybe donate.
Thank you alltheway for that link, it looks like you've got a lot of stuff shared out there. I just finished the Dutty v4, so I'll be trying it...
And zakhir I downloaded that cube, the Vista one. Finally have one that works, woohoo! Thanks. One question though - is there anyway to make s2u2 work with the Cube? When I 'slide to unlock' left to right, I end up opening the cube and spinning it.
EDIT: Nevermind, found the answer to that one with Google: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=360813

DCS v1.5
Give DCS a try!
I found its really fast and has essential progs.
I believe it is comparable to Dutty Roms.
You must of course flash a new radio

You can add s2u2 to the exceptions settings of ftouchflo... then you wont activate the cube when trying to unlock the phone from s2u2

Is it at all possible to merge multiple cab files to create a single cab?

What I am interested in doing is taking multiple cab files and then merging them into a single cab file so rather than having to install multiple theme tabs i could just install a single file which would make the whole process simpler after a hard reset to get all my things reinstalled.
I'm a bit of a noob and have searched through the forum but havent really found a noob's walkthrough although i have found usefull posts they arent exactly what i'm looking for, i'm sure other members would find this really usefull too if its at all possible.
It could also be helpful for installing multiple applications at a time.
I appreciate that people dont have the time to sit and talk me through the whole process but any information you could give would really be appreciated.
I've attached the files that i would be interested in merging. I'm not looking for anyone to do the work for me i'm just interested in any knowledge of the process that you may have to offer.
Thx
Alex

Simplest and easiest thing to do is to use UC to install all these cabs automated style when the ROM boots up. I am assuming you are using a ROM which is UC compliant (all the official ones arent.....the cooked ROMs are mostly UC compliant though).
The 'hard' way is analyzing the cab's -> extracting files/reg-entries -> rebuilding the cab-files to one cab.
Theoritically it's possible with a program like WinCE Cabmanager but it is a hell of job I think.
I would go for the UC-option mentioned by MrVanx. I use it myself and it works like a threat (you have to get familiar with wap-provisioning and stuff but it's worth the journey)
Ive tried using a few of the cooked roms over the past couple of weeks but to be honest they dont work all that well for me, none of them seem to work with msn (which is something i use all the time) i always get error messages saying that it cant find a data connection even through wifi which is always setup properly as i can search the net quite easily and have verified that the wifi is working and searched through the rom threads for fix's and all ive seen so far is that this seems to be a bit of a problem for a number of users, some fixes work for certain members but it doesnt for others, unfortunatly i'm one of the others.
Currently using Vodafone UK 1.90.161.5 stock rom.
I think the WinCE Cabmanager approach mite be the best option for me as i'm still a bit of a noob with regards to things and as most of the cabs i'm interested in merging are simple theme cabs so it shouldnt be that much of a task (gulps)
Are there any good tutorials that i could use for WinCE Cabmanager?
I'll have a search myself to see what i can come up with but in the past i've found it quite hard to find things in the forum and most of the time i stumble across certain "gems" by following links in peoples signatures.
Thanks for the info its much appreciated.
Alex
Over on the Kaiser section there was a user named bengalih, who made an automated installer called Sashimi. Although Bengalih has been banned, his work is still floating around. Check out this thread, or do a search for Sashimi. In theory, it should work for the Raphael, since it is still a Win Mobile device. Hope that helps. I might add, that right before Bengalih was banned, he stripped his Sashimi guides from his posts on xda, but they are available here.
This does look like the type of thing i am looking for unfortunately all his posts are just "..........................." but i regged on the other site and got the software so i'm going to go check it out and see how it works. Thanks for that
Alex
Just a quick question but does your mobile connection (Vodafone UK) allow you to use msn (or to that matter any IM program) or is it just http stuff only?
Tmobile wnw doesnt allow IM software over the data connection unless you use wnw+ so i wonder if this is the case with vodfone aswell?
Yeah it does, it also allows me to use skype too. Unfortunalty its the only ROM that does allow me to use msn although i havent tested skype as this is my secondary IM app.
In theory to make a theme (cab) i tried to extract files from a few cabs, files including:
1AA884~1.004
1BBFDC~1.001
1E29E8~1.005
4E6705~1.002
5A7AE8~1.015
5B86C9~1.016
5C27FF~1.017
etc
Then i used "QuickCab 1.0" to add all the extracted files from a couple of cab files, i directed QuickCab 1.0 to install the files to the Windows directory and the process made the new cab file with no problems however i tried to install the cab file that it had created but my TF3D didnt change at all even after a restart.
I'm trying to merge NoTopCurtain.cab-NoCurtains.cab-GlassClock_v1.cab-Pamas Transparant Slider.CAB & NeonIcon.cab
By looking at the xml file it looked like all the 90 files should be installed to the Windows directory.
Any idea of what i am doing wrong?
Thx
Alex
try cabmanager. You will see the actual files. And there is very logical registry structure.
I do not have a tutorial for the program but it's not that hard. You can export files (right mouse click) and reg-entries (under 'file'). Put those all together (import of reg-entries is also possible!) Adding files gives you a simple window with where to put the files on your ppc.
It is not that hard and you will be in control of the proces instead of working with the encrypted files you are doing now...
made dozens of (working) cab's this way myself and I'm no einstein!
Good luck
@merten3000 thanks for that for the next 30 days i can make working cabs, i initially seen your post and checked the program but noticed it was only a 30 day trial so i never bothered then with your last post when u mentioned "encrypted" files that sort of made sense when i originally seen the file names of the files i was extracting where as they are now extracting properly and i created a working cab, thanks very much.
Dont suppose you know of a free program that will do the same job? Money is tight and cant justify buying this app.
Alex
The simplest thing to do, for me, would be to take the stock rom that you like, extract and recook it making only the changes needed to make it UC compliant.
That way you get your rom just as it was, and can run all your cabs. Shouldn't be much work either. (well, it wouldnt be on the Kaiser - not used Raphael kitchens etc, but assume it is relatively easy)

Windows Mobile CAB archive?

A while back I found a link to a mediafire archive with something like 50 CAB's in it, for Windows Mobile 6.x. Does anyone know where that archive is?
It used to be bookmarked on my computer, but I accidently deleted it, so it's now gone.
I imagine that some of those CAB's are probably somewhere else on the interwebs as well, but I have been searching all day to no avail.
Also, FreewarePocketPC still has lot's of stuff available for WM devices, but a lot of it is intermixed with crap for Android(most of the Android **** that's clogging the site is just virus anyways), and Windows Phone 7, and some of the links are dead.
P.S. I have an archive of CAB's as well, I will be sharing soon, most of the CAB's I have are still available elsewhere on the interwebs, but with WM6.x getting older by the day, and so many things linkrotting as we type, it won't be long before the ever-diminishing set of workable programs reaches zero, and our beloved WinCE/WM6.x based devices are dead forever. So the more mirrored archives there are, the better.
NOTE: IF anyone wants an app, PM me, do not clog the forums with requests. NO, I do not have warez and paid software, I do not have any way to make your paid software work without paying, DO NOT ask for warez, if you do, your PM will be copied to this thread for everyone to see and laugh at.

1.) Opera Mini 5 - In download box below. Web browser for WM2003 all the way up to WM6.5.5, still works and because of Opera compression, it renders nicely even over 2G and modern websites are rendered nicely.
2.) UC Browser 7.04 - In download box below. Another web browser for WM5 up to WM6.5.5, still works, built by a Chinese company, not sure if it uses compression, like other browsers for WM, rendering quality is hit or miss depending on the site.
3.) Opera Mobile 10 BETA - In download box below. A newer version of Opera, for WM5 and above, still works, like with Mini 5, it uses Opera compression servers so it browses fast over 2G and modern websites are still nice. AFAIK it supports Flash.
4.) SkyFire - In download box below. Another nice browser. I am not sure if it still works, it uses SkyFire compression servers, supports flash. SkyFire as of 2013 was still available for Android, so it's possible the compression servers are still active. If the servers are not active, then since this AFAIK does not render locally, it's just here for historical completeness.
5.) ZetaKey 2010 - In download box below. This is a browser that is AFAIK still developed for WM6 and up. It supports HTML5 and AFAIK Flash, based on WebKit, so even without compression servers(which this does not use), it should render modern websites okay.
6.) Iris Browser 1.1.9 - In download box below. This browser still works. Uses WebKit, although it is not developed anymore, it does score a 100/100 on Acid3, has a pop-up blocker and supports NPAPI plugins just like Firefox.
7.) ZetaKey 2017 - In download box below. See ZetaKey 2010 entry. This is the newest version of that browser.
8.) TCPMP Finger Friendly. A great media player for WM devices. IMO it's even better than what comes on most Androids even in 2019.
Original link is still up: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=634951
Or you can download it from the box below.
1.) Flexilis Mobile Security - Link in download box below. This is a once-popular anti-virus program for WM6.x devices. It is AFAIK the precursor to what we now know as Lookout on Android devices. I am not sure if it has new virus definitions, but then again, is there anyone actually creating *new* viruses for WM6.x anyways?
2.) ESET Mobile Antivirus - Link in download box below. This is another popular anti-virus program for WM5 through 6.5.5, although the WM version is no longer developed nor is it still supported, ESET is still around and still makes some of the best anti-virus software for Linux, Windows, MacOS and Android.
3.) FingerKeyboard - Probably one of, if not the best alternative keyboards for WM6/6.5. It is way better than the stock keyboard(although the HTC keyboard is decent).
Download it from the box below, or the original link is still active here. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=487677
4.) Esmertec Jbed - This allows Java midlets to run on Windows Mobile devices.
Get it from the box below or go here(https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407667) because the original link is still active...
5.) Adobe Reader - View PDF files on Windows Mobile. Get it from the download box below.
Dude, don't you think you've been late with this thread for about 10 years?
I know maybe 3 or 4 old-fags here at xda (including me) who still have functional WM6.5 - WEH6.5.3 phones. And we are mostly "chiefs" - we cook our own roms and have all the necessary soft in our roms already.

I am just putting this out here mainly as a way a of preserving these programs for anyone who might care aboit them. Also, so if there might be anyone out there who still happens to have a device that can use these. So, sure, the thread is 10 years out of date, but thats exactly the point.
I'll take that bet...
Well I for one would love to see archives of old WM6.x CABs. I bought the HD2 In the first week it was out, and loved tweeking and fiddling with it until I had to factory reset it and remember where I stored the latest viable backup.
I must have crashes that thing a dozen times or more!
Well I never did get myself together enough to build a kitchen and learn to cook up some ROMs, but I had fun with all of the crazy and cool programs and apps. Cookie monster had an awesome UI Tweeker as I recall.
So yeah, I found the ol' Leo and charged it up! It's working!
I would love some links to CAB archives!
I recently bought some Windows Mobile devices just to play with, so I would also love an archive.
Finally somebody doing this. Thanks.
A bit late, but preservation is always good.
I tried finding games for WinMo, but every single link i came across was dead. (If somebody comments about piracy... WinMo has been discontinuted for, like, what? 10 years?)
If anyone still has any app installed on their WinMo phones, please make a backup and upload it.
I was a Symbian user when WinMo was still used, so i kinda missed on pretty much everything.
And you know what's the weird thing?
You can still find SYS files for Symbian all around the internet, but WinMo apps simply vanished.
So, yeah, if any of y'all have any app, just post it here.

I have a bunch on my HD2, I just dont know how to upload to here. Or anywhere else for that matter. I will look into a file share site. Any help would be appreciated.
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ still operates with most links still working. In most cases it offers a primary link & a mirror link to download the Apps. On the rare occasion both links fail a web search on the App or developer name will usually yield a result. Only very rarely can I not find a WM6.5 CAB, registry hack, etc., that I want. I've been amazed how much is still out there. I've used the HD2 as my sole Phone/PDA for almost 10 years & by trial & error I've got it to be very stable (a screen freeze is now a rare & notable event). I recently added the new 400GB microSD which is so fast I can put most Apps onto SD that formally required Device Memory installation only. I can't speak too highly of this little device. And the screen is much more scratch resistant than my wife's Lumia 950! Cheers

When you tap the reply button and it opens up that new page where you write your text and stuff, scroll down until you see "Manage Attachments", tap on that and a new page will open, from which you could upload your files. :good:

I read that reply and I couldn't stop myself from adding the slight tone of distain at having to answer the obvious to someone as noobish as I. however, does said 10 post anti flake-o-noob rule apply? if not. Well, i need to go buy a shovel and dig holes for a living.

Rolled a 1 on search and found this. It had some good links. Not all function anymore.
Sites that still have some form of .cab files:
Freewarepocketpc.net
mpbus.net
mobile24.co
A good extractor for cabs and thier extension files would be nice.

Chill, it's no problem.
You could upload them to your Google Drive and turn on link sharing for the zip you made from the cabs. (And tap on "Everybody with a link: can view", not "Everybody with a link: can edit")
Then copy the link and post it here.
Also, thanks for those links. Really useful.
Having better achieve of cool apps and games still good for even the htc hd2 would be great for WinMobile 6.5
I attempted to reply with an outline of a project I am starting, and included the links to my dropbox file of HTC HD2 software, however it was auto flagged and i cant find the technical contact form as my browser is not allowing me to scroll through all the options in drop down menus and other pages.
sorry guys! I shall return when I can and try again.
Making a online archive with every possible cab categorized in smart way is one of my dreams since when I started discovering the world of technology and modding through this wonderful OS called Windows Mobile
The websites listed in this page allows you to search on old filesharing websites.
You can still find a lot of apps on
---Emule (servers +KAD especially)
---"windows mobile" and "pocketpc" sections on softonic.com (if I'm not wrong a con is that for each cab you want to download Softonic downloads a windows installer that then downloads the cab)
---install the webarchive extension on your browser and visit every old bookmark you saved in the past with the hope that the webpage was saved on the archive)
If I had the time I'll buy some webspace and I'll archive every WinMo app! XD (I would need less GBs than a single today's laptop hdd)

Well a lot has changed since 2018. I just went to freeware pocket PC and tried 10 different links and none of them worked and none of the developers still had a functioning website.

Actually, just dug out an old HTC Diamond2 that was once used by a relative, I was looking for software and this has actually been pretty helpful, I'm trying to figure out what these old PDA-ish devices still can do, I know that the few that can run Linux are actually pretty well supported to this day, but this one looks pretty much obscure so far, not a miracle, but I did want to play around with it
