Dear Members......
i have 1 htc desire which stuck on htc screen, need help from experts to work it back...
i have tried many methods posted in this forum and others. But the phone is in same condition.
the phone is entering HBOOT mode (Vol- & Power), in that it is entering FASTBOOT BOOTLOADER mode. But it is not entering to RECOVERY mode (showing only htc screen).
I CREATED GOLD CARD BY USING SE XPERIA X10i BY USING GOLD CARD TOOL AND COPYING GOLD CARD IMAGE TO 2GB AND 8GB SD CARD WITH THE HELP OF HxD EDITOR.
AFTER THAT I COPIED ROM IMAGE "RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe" (taken only the rom.zip by extracting the file) TO SD CARD DOWNLOADED FROM "shipped-roms" renaming to "PB99IMG.zip".
ROM UPDATE STARTED SUCCESSFULY FROM PHONE, BUT THE UPDATE FAILED BY SHOWING "partition update fail" AND TO REBOOT DEVICE.
NOW THE PHONE IS STUCK ON HTC SCREEN AND GETS 8 TIMES VIBRATION WHEN POWERING ON THE PHONE.
ALSO TRIED UPDATING ROM BY RUNNING EXE FILE. BUT IT SHOWS ERROR 170 (usb connection error).
Above said is the phone condition and problem.
Please reply me with detailed instruction, method, programs to use, connectivity check, etc.....
i attached the pics of the phone........
DUDE. Wrong Section! This is the development section. You have a Q&A section to this kind of problems.
you got brain right? so is time to use it,
you develop something? i dont see, so why you post your problem and Q to dev.section?
for this sort of thing there is section called Q/A
It is amazing how many people take absolutely no notice of the rules. It states very clearly DO NOT POST QUESTIONS IN THE ANDROID DEVELOPMENT SECTION.

by the way, indeed is a wrong section, but being SO OFFENSIVE AND RUDE is something OP should warn you ppl!
i think its more frustation than rudeness, its like they say, and the forum headers do make sense if you read them

It is frustrating, when people join xda they are shown a list of the rules of the site. It only takes a minute to read through them. Also, when you enter the desire forum you are shown the five categories: general, q&a, development, accessories, themes/apps. It's pretty obvious where a question should be posted. Lastly, this question is in no way related to android development.

So you know people wont stay when they are greeted like this, why not move it to q and a and then answer the question instead of 5 people complaining about the same thing yes it was dumb but people make mistakes like come on lol

Hello, I am a new HTC Sensation owner and it's my first Android phone too!
I am very excited with the device but, before I screw up something, I would like to know a bit more.
I know there is the possibility, for Android phones, to flash the ROM and install a new one with improved features.
It is something that I will do, I'm sure, but, as mentioned, I would like to be sure of what I do!
So, how can I back-up the current ROM, in order to restore everything as it was when I purchased the phone?
I know about an app called Titanium backup, but it seems that it requires root permission...
Can you help me?
Thank you in advance!

Htc sensation has a locked builder (S-On), you can't install custom roms yet till it is unlocked by HTC or hacked by developers. keep an eye out in the development section. When it is unlocked. Word will spread there,
Also there will be guides of how to root, s off back up etc. once it is unlocked
In the mean time. Have you tried rom manager from the market to backup. download it. Enjoy your sensation

Hi, before opening a thread do some research. If you did do some, you would have found an answer to your question in the Sensation Android development forum. There is a thread about someone who gotva Sensation with unlocked bootloader. Read in this thread as much as you can and please, on the top right of every single page of this forum is the SEARCH box. Use it extensively, you'll save yourself a lot of time.

Welcome to XDA - DEVELOPERS
Indeed. Please use the search button before posting. All of your questions could have been answered.
Is there any way possible to flash a new splash screen image on a non rooted phone or do I need to be? Thanks if anyone can help!! =)
afaik no, you have to be rooted to gain access to those files.
A google search could have answered your question
People need to read the first sticky in the forums..
Post questions/suggestions and things like that in the General section. This thread doesn't contain any progress or sort of development and if people keep doing this it will clog the development section with unnecessary post. Its like the Mods never check the Sidekick forums cause a lot of threads would be closed or removed or even further actions

You have to be rooted , rooting doesnt harm your phone .
My thread for help here
Come in the thread it's all you need . & help .
Where would one find the Samsung boot animation and is it safe to remove? My device is rooted but I don't like seeing two boot animations when booting considering one is more than enough.

Please post all questions in the General Forum, rather than in the Development Forum.
You can find this under /system/media, it should be bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg. Just move them to .bak, so that you still have a backup of them.
If you are using @Ayoteddy's rom, the updated version doesn't have 2 boot logos, go over to his thread and flash the updated version.
Hello I am new to android I have had my HTC Incredible S for about 2 months and I have been reading on here for a while off and on about rooting and flashing custom roms onto my phone the only thing is is that from what I have read multiple things like that my phone can get bricked and be useless and it is also difficult to root the incredible s as well, I am just asking for people to tell me how likely I am to brick my phone and hopefully maybe some people could talk to me about flashing custom roms onto my phone and possibly link me some websites or possibly a video to show how to do this to my phone.
I would start here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=980497
Also try searching here - http://www.google.com/cse?q=android...=ISO-8859-1#gsc.tab=0&gsc.q=incredible s root
But next time I would suggest going to the specific forum for that device and, after reading through the sticky/roll up threads, ask the question there.

Hey XDA.
I had another topic here but it seems better to make a new one? I left my charger in while updating and now my phone restarts itself randomly.
The update was to Sense Version 4.1
If I load a new Rom on will that help? Also do I need to have root to put a new Rom on or just the unlocked bootloader?
Thanks.

That's no use to me at all. Just pointing me to a random thread that has reall no details about my situation is no help at all.
If you actually had a look, it contains links to threads relevant to Telstra. One of them being this one , which tells you whether or not you need to root or just unlock bootloader in order to install a custom ROM. Which I believe answers your last question in OP.
Dunno why I'm even telling you that after you were so rude to someone trying to help you though.

By the way if you've already posted a thread about this question you shouldn't post another. Read the rules.

Methinks he is trying to get posts, so that he can post into the developers thread
Maybe reading posts that you are pointed to will actually help you. Sounds to me like you bricked it by updating it legitimately, then letting it run out of charge whilst updating.
You may be able to unbrick your phone by going the custom ROM way, but if you wish to retain your warranty, maybe you could ask your question in a HTC forum or even whirlpool.
I know I can unbrick my phone if I misflash mine because I have a custom recovery done with instructions in the thread link provided by timmaaa. I have no idea on how to unbrick a locked bootloader phone, but I am sure that HTC would have provided a way.
And READ before being rude to members, we post links for a reason, its not just fobbing you off. If everyone was answered on every thread, people would be busy just typing all day.

Hello every one.
I just wanted to ask this question just for fun and relaxing with other members here. but maybe the answers will be usefull for developers also
The question is:
What is the thing you don't like, or you don't like to do on your android phone ?
.
Answer
Well, the think that i don't like to do on my android phone is the NAND BACKUP before applying changes on the /system partition.
What about you ?
I hate when i wake up and my android phone is punching me in face
Same here a whole nandroid backup which drains battery and time.
And making one again after flashing a new ROM before applying tweaks and mods to that new one also.

I believe this should have been posted under either General or Off-topics instead of a device-specific Q&A section.

absolutely yes
it's a general discussion not just a question
The slower CPU in my 2 year old Xperia Ion. Otherwise, the rest of the phone is still top-notch.
