You might try the G2x shot again without the back cover on. There was a thread around here somewhere showing the G2x pics came out way better without the cover.
different lighting and its blurry like you sabotage the g2x by greasing up the lens or batter cover.
This isn't a fair comparison! You need to take them at the same time of day!

In fact they must be taken simultaneously, and the event must be witnessed by representatives of Google, T-Mo, and LG, by one of Ansel Adams living heirs, and preferably by at least two sitting members of the XDA high council.

this comparison is just as accurate as the photoshoped pic of the Samsung Galaxy Tab Apple sent to the courts to block Samsung's sales in Europe.
Why don't you take a picture of your car again with your G2X at Noon with the sun out and then a pic at night with no flash with your Sensation?
G2x Photo: I'm using an extended battery. There is no glass over the camera lens. Also using the original LG camera.

i didn't sabotage anything(why would i sabotage my own phone? lol), i pulled both phones out of my pocket and snapped the pics. But take this with a grain of salt, your results may vary, my phone may suck.. and vary. this is just a out of the pocket comparison for informational purposes only.
in regards to taking the back cover off the phone to take a picture, i just find that a bit silly, this is "normal use and as they come" kinda pics.
however, tomorrow ill remove the g2x cover and take the pics at the exact same time and see what comes of it

Tapped out from Weapon G2x
I have noticed that this camera indoors is sucky in auto mode. if you adjust the exposure by +1 or +2 it makes a world of difference.
In the end, you did a bad job comparing the two, too much variance in the time of day, lighting, angle and the possibility of the camera glass on the back of the G2X being dirty/scratched/smudged from you fingers.
Trolls are gonna troll, not saying you are one but the thread is already full of them.
A valid comparison this is not. I've achieved some spectacular shots with my G2X, and I've had the same result you showed, it was due to the battery cover glass being smudged on the inside from me swapping batteries.
A buddy at work has a sensation, Ill borrow it and try to get good comparison shots in ideal conditions.
Oh, and that is Not my car, so I didn't care to blur the license plate.

So earlier today, I was feeling rather experimental with my phone, not software wise, but hardware.
Earlier that week I saw a picture of and iphone with a homemade macro lens on it, so I was said to myself- If someone could do that to there Iphone and still hold it right, why cant I do that with my Nexus One? So I did.
It was a lot of trial and error, but eventually I got it, and took amazing pictures, beyond what I ever thought was possible with a phone.
To think our Nexus One's can take almost professional quality photos! I think you will be just as amazed with these pictures as I am .
Please note: These pictures were not edited in any way, just resized for your viewing pleasure!

I know what your thinking! "Hey how do I make one of those snazzy lenses for my super phone?" Well there are many different ways I am guessing, but I will tell you my technique!
Materials:
-Super Glue
-Thick Gauge Wire
-More super glue
-Scotch/Electrical tape
-Disposable camera lens
-Pliers
If you dont have any of these materials, your looking at about $25-$35 USD.
Procedure:
1. Jack the camera lens from a cheapy disposable camera (anyway works, just make sure you dont dink around with the lens).
2. Wrap wire around the lens
3. Super glue it to the wire so it stays
4. Let it dry
5. Bend the wire so the lens fits directly in front of the camera sensor
6. Make it stay on your phone
7. Wrap electrical/scotch tape around the wire to avoid damage to your beloved Nexus One.
8. Take it for a test.
Remember- a lot of trial and error, so be patient. Also, these are very brief instructions- so be creative.
I am not responsible for any damage done to your phone or Camera, or anything.
Here is how mine looks:
If you like my idea and use it and post it around without giving me acknowledgment or credit, then you are clearly a basement dwelling virgin man child. Just sayin'
Please post comments on your thoughts, or if you do it, upload some pics and tell what you did and how it went, cause I am just as curious as you

What lens did you use exactly? Cause one a size up might get rid of the black ring around the pics. Then they'd be so sick. This is a creative mod and it works really well. Awesome dude.

I happen to have these 3 amazing devices in my possession, and so I feel obligated to snap some comparison photos. Most interestingly is the last few demonstrating the bleeding LCD issue. This is the best I could do without a tripod. Order left to right: EVO, G2x, Nexus S.

G2x and Nexus Home:
Youtube (demoing blacks) EVO and G2x:
Youtube G2x and Nexus S:
Market (for greens):
And now the moment, all phones showing black image:
Angle view showing bad LCD bleed:
So here's my conclusion. G2x has most natural colors, the OLED on the Nexus just seems artificially vivid, but really there's not much difference until you hit the blacks. G2x has same LCD bleed as EVO, but 1000x better colors. So there you go, if you're used to OLED I can see why you're disappointed, but if you've been on an EVO LCD, the G2x is quite a treat. You can go wrong with any of these phones.
Wow. Thanks

Personally I think the G2X looks better in all cases. Sure there is some bleed on the complete black, but to be honest, I am probably not the only one that uses their phone in normal lighting, every issue I have seen posted regarding bleed problems are in a pitch black room. Hardly a situation that I would even come close to on a daily basis.
I think the G2X is great as is across the board. And I am coming from a Fascinate (Galaxy S phone).
Well done Ravin! Thanks for that comparison.
wierd
in the pics the 2 screens look on while the third is black. i dotn see it like that maybe its just the way the camera pics up the bleed. But i think this is back to the old plama lcd arguments. my blacks on lcd and phone are black enough for me maybe i have my mind convinced they are black

Well you're right, OLED is off when it's displaying black, that's why it has a massive contrast ratio. The camera isn't lying in those pics.
I have used both the NS and the G2X and I prefer the G2X over the NS. I sold my used NS the day I bought the new G2X and I am not looking back.
I haven't had any of the balcklight bleeding issues everyone is talking about and the speed of the phone is superior to that of the NS. The phone feels more solid in my hand then the NS did, the build quality to me is allot better then the plastic NS.
I haven't rooted mine yet, I will wait until a stable release of CM7 comes out and then I will take the plunge. I think once a nice stable ROM is released and the recovery flashing issue are resolved, allot of folks will make the switch.
Do you know what I take away from this? Seeing that 3 different high profile Android devices, all have the same 4 buttons, but they're all in a different order. Why can't someone say 'lets standardize on a single order for these buttons'?

hi guys,
I'm an android no0b ... soon fix that problem though.
anyway here is my situation and question:
Does the phones with the 'Bad Screen Issue' take the same quality pics as the ones with the Good screen
I love to take pics... my old nokia 3.15mb cellphone take great shot, I simply love cellphone that take great pics... but
I might be getting a used a mytouch4g (rooted still on froyo) [decent enough price (well as decent as living in Jamaica goes) ]
and from the first day that I saw the the phone I commented "oh i thought it would be nicer... the screen looks so bland... washed out"
the owner didnt even realize that it look bland, and said that its just looks that way , it doesnt affect the camera/pic quality.
I played around with it for a few minutes... my first experience with an android device... I AM IN LOVE WITH ANDROID NOW. but I still could not get around how bland the screen showed..
he only had it for a week before and didnt have much experience with android either.. he got it from someone b4 ... and all he knew is that its rooted.
I really like this device, and checked around online and was shocked to find out about the 'BAD SCREEN ISSUE' , and first i say some comments where persons said that they first say it after the rooted their device and a some1 even said that the unrooted their phone and the issue went away..
but that to this forum and youtube and realized that is a real hardware issue literally a 'BAD SCREEN' most like TFT vs a SuperLcd issue. ( right ?)
I still purchase it from him, and i said the the price is pretty sweet...
i know only know two person who own the mytouch/glacier and I asked them to send me a sample of pics that they took with their phone... just to compare camera quality. In fat hey did n't even know about the BAD screen issue (fortunately for them their devices are ok) ...
I took some pics with the one that i would be getting and I must say I am disappointed ... the pic when send to my pc looks just as washed out and bland as on the phone screen. i seriously doubted that the screen would affect the camera quality.. i may be wrong though.
I am not considering not to buy it... just because of the bright/washed out screen... but it not likely that i'm getting another decent Android phone for any where near this price again.
So guys I'm asking
.1) Does the phones with the 'Bad Screen Issue' take the same quality pics as the ones with the Good screen
.2) (if the forum allows it) some of your guys with the 'bad screen" phones upload your pics so i and have a better judgement of the camera quality. Prolly the camers secsors are determined by th e screen output (?)
.3) If u think that think that unrooting/rerooting will help the camera issue ( yeah unlikey )
4) If updated the android build / ginger bread or cm7 or so would improve the camera quality.
thanks in advance.

The menu button (second hard button from the left) will bring up settings. Check Resolution. I've noticed that pictures in lower light aren't too great. Remember though, its a phone with a camera. The camera is, at most, second.

The LCD panel and the camera picture quality are not related. The good/bad screens basically refer to the two vendors HTC sourced for the MT4G's LCD, with the good one being the Sony S-LCD and the bad one being manufactured by Sharp. The differences between the screens lie in their contrast, color rendering, and off-axis viewing angles. There are some theories that the differences are not actually caused by the screen, but rather by the digitizer, but unless the digitizer was replaced, the screen and digitizer seem to go hand in hand.
The camera on the MT4G simply isn't that good. Unlike the camera for the Amaze, I've never read of an editable image compression setting for the MT4G's camera, so I'm inclined to believe that one doesn't exist.

One good.one bad.
I have to say the cm7 camera from tdj's 12/30/11 cm7 Kang took some great pictures.
I tested every camera option available(alot of basketball/baseball games),and for some reason that Kang was the best as far as cameras.
Should it have been different? I do.t know why! Cant explain it!
Those pictures were crisp and clear.
I sure I posted a pic in that thread to check it for sure.right around new years.

I was not impressed with the quality of the pictures from the MT4G before it died. The outdoor pictures in daylight still had significant compression artifacts, soft focus, and undersaturation. Not natural saturation. Undersaturation. Blacks weren't black. Indoor pictures with incandescent lighting were just dreadful. Honestly, the picture quality was comparable to my Motorola RAZR2 V9x with an extra three megapixels.

Just put this together on the Macrumors board. Even they seem to agree
iPhone 5 pictures will always be first in the series:
In these pictures you can see the iPhone 5s purple flare at the top. No matter how I tried to take the picture, it was always there. In a room with a lot of lights, its just going to happen sadly. The GS3 performed better here and more accurately.

Next up - Tennis ball. The tennis ball is not new, however, judging by the iPhone 5 picture, Apple wants to make old objects new again. Also, the counter top I am taking these on has a purpleish tint to it, so keep that in mind:
Anyone up for some coffee? The letters on dunkin should be a darker shade or orange to your eyes.. lets see how they did:
Next up - same ball, with flash:
Last but not least - a set of 2 outdoor pictures
So what do you think?? Which one is better to you?
Also a side note on the outdoors pictures - Both sets were taken at the same distance. The GS3 appears to get more in the picture than the iPhone... maybe its my eyes playing tricks on me - neither phone's zoom settings were touched.

Maybe the iphone is set to like 28mm while the S3 at 24mm (when compared on 35mm?)
I don't get how you guys are getting decent shots with the GS3. My pictures are just awful and almost always blurry in identical situations that my Rezound and iPhone are able to take excellent photos. I really hate the camera on this phone.

Make sure the camera lens cover isn't smudged. If mine is, pictures look terrible, but if I wipe it off with my shirt and then take picture, it looks so much better.
Maybe. But it doesn't happen with any other camera, if that's the problem my hands would be shaky no matter what.

I love the pics on mine..Here is a sample of my lake house view from the back deck:
As you see it takes great pics..
My S3 takes both good and bad pictures. If I am holding it in just my hands, it usually takes not so good pictures. But when I us4 something solid to prop it against, it takes great pictures. But, that is the least of my gripes with this thing.
I just flashed the latest ROM five minuets ago and am finally getting thirty hours of battery time! This is sick!!

Nice picture and interesting landscaping - curious about the choice of what appears to be a birdbath in the center: that green expanse to the lake might appear even more like a welcoming path or inviting runway there without the visual breakup, I figure.

Honestly I think the iPhone 5 takes better pictures.
I have 2 lines on my plan...mine with my GS3 and the other person on my plan has an iPhone 5. I did my own comparison tests and found the iPhone 5 camera to be better every time. I love my GS3 and the camera is alright but... nothing beats my DSLR.
The S3 also seems to be really sensitive with shaky hands compared to my old Apple. This can easily cause blurrier pictures. Also, another thing is phone covers can really alter the flash...... I had to learn this this the hard way.
Good stuff here... Honestly to me both seem to be amazing cameras but it's nice to see there are significant differences. Maybe I'm bias

One thing I noticed with the iPhone is it gets surrounding detail a bit better, but its not as focused. On the iPhone I can focus on someone 15 feet away, but still read a paper that is in the photo just under the camera. On the GS3 it appears to overexpose it, and makes it illegible. Ill do a bit more testing, but it might only be an issue with white paper
I'm impressed with the macro on the S3

I think the iphone is always easier to take good pics with (for a phone anyway) for some reason.
You can hand an iphone to anybody, leave everything in the auto mode & most of their pics will be fine.
As far as the DSLR comment, I agree 100%, I am a pro photographer & I use a *Canon EOS 1D Mark 2/with all L lens* all day at work.

Your focus is on your keys that's why only your keys look clear and everything else is blurry. Try focusing it something else, like the middle of the screen. Auto focus does that to me sometimes. Nothing a good finger poke on the screen doesn't fix.
I've had a little accident regarding my Note 3. I was taking part in my hobby (Horse Riding) during a trot my phone decided to fall of my pocket. (when not having lessons I have a Bluetooth ear piece for taking phone calls). Long story short, my phone got trodden on by 200lbs, twice, 200lbs per hoof.
What I want to know is, is there anyone else that has had a lot of pressure placed on their phones?

You don't need a spare camera. You can take a screenshot and show it to us!

Try that again on tarmac and let us know but this time show the pic of your phone instead.
Haha yeah I was gonna say.
Still even with the loose substrate I think it held up quite well to the increased pressure compared to other phones due to its size.
How do u know it's exactly 200 lb per hoof. What if one hoof was smaller then the other.
How do u know which hoof..
Serious questions man lol.

I didn't think people we're replying... I don't that was just a wild guess (the horse (Small pony) + tack + me is 800lbs...I don't have a camera to get a picture...but the little tiny crack is still there in the bottom left of the screen.
not sure how much kilos but my daugther always steps on it and thinks that its like something to step on. and she always throws it here and there. i has gone through a lot of throwing. it even landed face first on solid concrete from lets say 20". (not to imagine it was thrown really hard). but not a single dent/crack whatsoever. really happy with it for now. its handling the brutal day to day life. lol
btw, mine has a back case. and the lower/upper side of the phone is completely unprotected. and it has a screen protector that wasn't cheap and that the guy that sold it to me when i bought the phone said it is genuine stuff. lol
have fun killing your phone mate

I've had a little accident regarding my Note 3. I was taking part in my hobby (Horse Riding) during a trot my phone decided to fall of my pocket. (when not having lessons I have a Bluetooth ear piece for taking phone calls). Long story short, my phone got trodden on by 200lbs, twice, 200lbs per hoof.
What I want to know is, is there anyone else that has had a lot of pressure placed on their phones?
Picture if anyone is interested: http://i.imgur.com/VlFWjgH.jpg

It depends on how it fell and if it was face down or face up. Pretty sure it was fave down in the dirt. The dirt probably soften the hit and the back of the phone is straight plastic

If one hoof was smaller it would still be the same 200lb exerted over a smaller surface area ha it wouldn't make it lighter.

This thread really doesn't matter anymore....the phone survived and this happened back in November...I don't actually remember it happening now too well (My memory is terrible) and I don't care too much as it's a small crack and it doesn't bother me

not to mention the fact that the horse/pony (to me it looks more like a big pony) is never rollin' on 4 hoofs at the same time...there are at the most 3 hoofs on da ground when he's ....hmmmm.. rollin' ....it's called dynamic weight distribution and, depending on da hoof, it could've exerted as much as 400lb on da device...and if da pony was fitted wit dem steel rims (horsyshoes) no way that piece could've escaped.....
...mabe' neva happened....

the moral of the story is: dont take your note 3 on a donkey....
all this horsing around has given me headache....
The phone is good for upto 218lbs of direct pressure.....try it again after you horse and you have eaten.
