(4) Rooting hurts only when your ill-informed and are chastised with an Iron Fist. (3) Rooting is Simple - Download the Ace Hack Kit then search for two hours for the 'Effen' manual which you didn't realize was included in the effen Hack Kit, start over again, and utilizing this most elusive of manuals, do it right. (I really did this BTW) I was told by a scary dude with Fists of Iron that 'The right way is never easy, the easy way is never right.' (If this fails - DO NOT SEARCH - your situation is unique and probably hasn't been answered. Wait for the lady with the diapers, she will wipe your ass for you.) (2) No YOU don't have to root it. Here at XDA - we do everything for you! (1) Install this ROM only after being Iron Fisted, Freshly Changed and wiped - from there ROM Manager, Clockwork Mod or 4ext recovery does the rest.
Please do not read the Roms OP or ORIGINAL POST. There will be no information that will be worth your while there. It's usually just filled with each roms characteristics, specifics, and essentials, tips, tricks, and Do's & Donts, as well as other useless information.

Lol, I love it man, keeps things light - hoping a noob or two or ten may be enticed to give it a shot if its laid back and relaxed. Hell maybe a veteran will find it appealing. Anywho - No worries on this end - I'm no Mod....... Yet.
At least NoSensi isn't sitting with a fat goose egg. I would have cried finally getting a chance to.support a Rom in a big way and No Post were made.... An OP Support thread too? (Thanks again Victoryo, and again....) It's right perfect for now. Next step - ShroomySense, or hopefully NoSensi4G for Inspires utilizing our OTA radio and basebuild.... Victoryo was working on one but there were a few glitches and he is DesireHD. Maybe he will just turn it over to me and he can keep the credit. Guess I better go on and put my phone down for awhile - I've rode this pony long enough.

Lol... Yes - ShroomySense. It might just be a grand aspiration, but the only ROM that is available themed already is Honeysense and that is based off of Stonerk's work. And with Stoners work being so popular - its unique sure, but not exclusive. Now that the OTA is out for Inspire I been dying to do this, or get a start anyways. But ShroomySense would have a very psychedelic vibe. Wolf Imade me a Animated mushroom boot animation that's pretty beastly. That was where the brainchild began forming. Then I thought couldn't a battery meter be a mushroom? And one thing I have Not seen at all is any sort of tye-dye accents or button Mods or, is it possible, Overscroll glow!? What I love about HoneyHD theme is the inverted blue on black - but any colors would look good on black, especially tyedye if it would be possible.
So anyhow, I am getting a laptop that I am hoping isnt too old to run everything I will need to do all this, and actually it should be here any moment. As far as NoSensi goes - my phone loves it. I have actually only flashed once in about a month, that was to give Pirates rumrunner a go. NoSensi has been rock solid since day one. I wouldn't have opened the OP if it was constantly being barraged - and Since V doesn't have an Inspire I'm more than happy to lend a hand. I learn so much helping other people out that its more of a privilege than anything...

dude a rom like that would be epic. I'd be all over it. love everything about it, even though my psychedelic days are behind me. I guess I'm still a stoner at heart though. tye-dye overscroll glow is a brilliant idea not sure how easily that could be implemented though. I cant help but think the buttons would be easier, but who knows I'm just starting to play around with themeing so I could be way off base. anyway great idea good luck with it
edit: by the way if you get a laptop that just aint quite up to snuff, slap ubuntu on it. that runs well on just about anything

If you're not satisfied with the current rate of development, feel free to put together your own rom or even contribute to current development. The phone is what, two, three months old? Some phones didn't even have root methods for that long. If you wanted an att device that had a background of strong community hacking, should have gone with an htc device. The method of building roms on this phone is massively different and requires time to get everything sorted. And I'm willing to believe a lot of devs are waiting fur for the 2.2 source

I think you are taking this entire thread the wrong way.
I think the OP is trying to say that he has done all he can, where is something new? More things to play with.
Nowhere did he belittle or offend anyone. Nor was anything implied.
I have had my phone for 7 weeks - I want to see even more new ROMs -but in no way am I saying anything about anyone. I can't wait for the first Cyanogenmod either - I am impatient, just like I was when waiting for the Captivate launch day.

Hey gunny, I know how you feel. I too am a bit bored. The rom development is great so far but that's starting to reach it's limit with what devs can do while we wait for froyo. I would love something new to play with. Maybe flash or some awesome game to come along that really pushes this device. Gps fix from sammysung would be nice. I could drive around using that to kill some boredom.
Anyway, props to the devs. Thank god we have some good ones. I would have been bored weeks ago without and with a laggy phone on top of that.
I understand both sides but unfortunately unless you know how to dev we all must be patient. These guys have done very good work and so far it is right on par with the Vibrant, and we all know T-mobile has many more dev's to work on ROMS. With more time will come better products, and all Galaxy S phones will be waiting for a while for 2.2. If Cyanogen comes out soon it shouldn't be hard for Eugene or someone to make a port of it, even if Eugene does not own a Captivate.
There's no need to fight guys, in all seriousness we have the best touch-screen phone on the whole market!
Gorgeous screen, specs, and soon to be a great international community of devs with the whole family of galaxy s line sharing ideas and accelerating the growth of development at a great pace.
Not to mention the soon to be implemented froyo that will not only introduce optimizations and flash, but also allow for a greater use of the phone's potential- spec wise.
Take into consideration the further development after froyo + full lag fix + a COMMUNITY effort of collaboration and I see a really bright future ahead of us.
Personally I LOVE my phone, it does everything I want it to do (I multi-task like a beast!!) BEAUTIFUL camera software.. I painlessly take panoramic shots! What more can you ask for?
Yes some high quality games compared to that of the iphone would be great, but the anti-piracy measures are not on par with the iphone at the moment, so we'll have to wait a little for the big-name app/game developers to step in.

I generally answer any questions asked and follow it up with any advice I can offer. threads like this where, even unintentionally, the OP is kind of being dismissive toward the excellent work Unhelpful, DG, eugene (and a slew of others who I have forgotten to name).
it'd be fine if he was just opening a thread to say "I'm excited for something new! can't wait for froyo! woo!" it's that the attitude of this is "I'm bored with all the work everyone else has done." especially when it's someone who doesn't contribute to development (not counting donations, I have no idea if he has donated) himself. I just want people to be grateful for what they have right now... there's no need a open a thread saying "I want more but I want others to do the work"
Dude. Quit reading into stuff that isn't there. As for donated monies, I have indeed done so in the past. Lots. Ok, I clicked on this thread because I could have written it myself, as it was intended. Which was obviously "Ok, I tried all the mods and now I want to try a new one or an update of 1 I already have."
For instance, as you can see from my signature, I run sre123. Last night, Designgears posted that 123a would be posted that night. I thought nothing of saying "ooo, can't wait, please hurry!!!" because DG knows how I meant it (I hope).
I have only seen a couple of REAL jerk posts, and those were like "hey thanks, your mod/rom broke my phone" idiots. Read the OP's and mod and your own risk, fools!
I have NEVER programmed. I understand what gets done here, having been a pc tech, but I can ONLY help by installing and testing and reporting results. This device and this forum has inspired me to try to learn what the guys like Cyanogen, Designgears, Eugene etc do. But until I learn, I will eagerly await new stuff to play with, much like the OP of this thread.
Sorry to type so long a note, but the ONLY thing that can ruin this forum is nazi's. I live in S Florida, got enough condo and homeowner association nazi's to deal with !!! =)

I wonder why that is. Dosn't seem intuitive that would be the case. TM is a much smaller carrier, with much less coverage. I can't imagine (of course maybe I'm short on imagination) that there are more people on the TM version than the Captivate.
I too am impatient. But the impatience is for the GPS Fix.

If I had the time to invest, I'd get into the ROMs. In fact I started to get into DEV. Downloaded the tools, did a couple weeks playing. But my programming has never expanded to Java, and the learning curve is too large, so I guess I won't. I'd enjoy it, but being at the computer all the time is not how I want to spend my time. I already spend a lot of time on it.
Regarding the DEVs, I appreciate them, and enjoy their work, and contribute occasionally to those I tend to utilize and keep using. But that doesn't diminish my right to be impatient. All customers are, no?
I want the GPS fix. All Galaxy S phones come with a nonfunctioning GPS. Froyo will be great to have also but they need hurry up with the GPS. The Droid X and all Motorola Android phones have an awesome GPS out of the box. I'm hoping Samsung gets it together otherwise they're not worth buying if it lacks a feature that most phones nowadays have. This problem from Samsung shows they rush things out to fast and then once they're out they fail to repair phones currently released.
I'll be eating my words if an update gets released within a week though.

From what I have read about Dev's and Tmobile is mainly because Tmob was the first to have Android. Lots of them are familiar from being already on Tmob. But that is just what I have read, does not necessarily make it correct. The dev's for the Captivate are doing a phenomenal job getting us great products.
Highlighted portion: Joking aside since I know you are, if people are impatient they really should start learning how to do this stuff. The intent of the thread missed the mark based on how it was written. We all want more ROM's or theme's or launchers etc...and they are coming but nobody has any say to be impatient when the majority of these dev's do these on a donation basis. How bad would it suck when people continue to feel impatient and the dev's decide to not dev anymore?
Alrighty then, here we go. Infinite Cha0s X now up and running. I have decided to do the Market as an add-on due to various compatibility issues some testers have had. I managed to flash in succession: Market versions 2.2.7, 2.2.11, and 2.3.6 without need to freeze the MarketUpdater, or wiping ANYTHING. Not a single force close. However, even trying to flash a themed version of the same one included in the rom (2.2.11) failed for some of my other testers, sometimes not even showing up in the app drawer at all. It doesn't look super professional and looks like this theme: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002986 except yours looks better.
But I think if you could sharpen up the images a little bit to make it look a lot more pro and maybe more minimalist this could be a great theme!

Unfortunately I know of no way to make images sharper, as most of the images are found online, and I don't know any repository of hi-res icons to pick and choose from. Also, my theme came out well before Bruised Steel, just not for the Dx, as I had a Droid 1 previously, but I'm glad you like mine better. I dunno anything about being super professional, as I have no schooling or training in image manipulation, so I had to go with being as thorough as possible. I'm just someone with too much free time on their hands. LoL Anyway, have a good one.

Beyond the Messaging icon and the little + symbol in the dialer picture, I'm not sure what you mean about the images not being sharp? I don't see anything else that isn't at least standard quality icons. Please elaborate.
Maybe they are judging the low res sscreen shots without actually installing the theme....i installed it just to try it and it liked beautiful...but the version I used was one I ported with Wugs...so the 3g icon didnt port directly over to GB that I'm using..... But loved it and planning on doing a re port once Wug updates his porter

I have threads, just haven't posted them here, thank you very much! I have never, and will never "bash" another's theme. But, if you're gonna talk **** about someone else's themed images not being "sharp" enough when all you do is change the hue on yours, you SHOULD be called out, IMO! I am "up and coming" and have only been theming for a couple of months now but, I'm just on the other forums most of the time. XDA isn't the ONLY forum, yeah?

I will be 110% committed to development on the G2X. First order will be a multitude of lockscreens for everyone to choose from. Roman has been developing all kinds of status bar tweaks and such which can be viewed here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123830.
Since the G2X is aosp based we will be able to do so much more with it. That and that fact that Roman is a java master. Needless to say, I dont think anyone will be disappointed.

I was just waiting for it to come down to this. I get the feeling I'm one of the few that read every post in the threads for Incredibly Re-engineered, The Perfect Storm, and Gingeritus up until the holiday weekend began. It's not like the guy just had a bad day. It's more like for a couple months now people were getting way outta line with him about how he built his ROMs. Go over and read the thread for IR. As long ago as last year he was dealing with slugs that didn't read the OP. One of the reasons he put the wipe script in there was because of all the idiots flashing without wiping, then posting how his ROM sucked and had all kinds of issues, like it was his fault. I've flashed his ROMs onto many different phones, flawlessly, and everytime I hand the phone back to the owner they're like "Wow! This thing is FAST!" Yeah, maybe this subject is a dead horse, but it really bothers me how folks treat one another sometimes, especially when the bad attitude comes from a moron directed at someone basically giving gifts away. The mere thought of doing what these guys do makes me want to sever major arteries in my body. But, I'm sure glad they like it because I like the results! I could gripe about how the home screens are full of icons and widgets nobody would use, or the lack of some features like wireless tether in some ROMs, or the screen brightness, or the kernel he packed with it, but is there a point? No. I'm some nobody that stumbled across his work one day and thought "Gosh! This is top drawer work!" When someone puts there heart and time into something and applies the skills acquired over years, it shows. It shows in Chingy's work all the way back to Re-engineered for the EVO. I completely understand how he'd feel reading some of the posts on his threads. I would probably have done the same thing, except sooner. Sometimes I wonder why there aren't as many devs here as I'd like to see, especially for kernels, but I don't need to wonder long. I've screwed up my phone before. I've gotten pissed because it looked like some dev couldn't do anything right, but the reality is if his work was that bad, it wouldn't have been posted long enough for me to download. So I point the finger at me. Sometimes trying to get something to work just pisses me off because I'm not a dev, or even that wise to this stuff in general. Restore a nandroid and keep on having a good day. Pretty simple. It's hard to believe that's too hard for everyone to do! I feel bad for Chingy. More than a couple folks have gotten ugly with him over a long span of time. Gingeritus 1.1 is out now. I'm gonna go get that and continue enjoying how CHINGY, and ONLY CHINGY, believes a sense ROM should work.

These same "fellow" devs say the same snide remarks towards me. There is no code of honor.
That said, if you cannot stand the pressure of some dickhead users, then hang up the title belt. That goes for any dev, including myself. I mean I could get mad and retreat to my own forum because you called me a catty old lady, but I don't have that thin of skin. Sorry.
As for the virus issue, that was effing ridiculous because the dev jumped on me, and he didn't even take the time to read ahead of time and see what the deal was, and that I was dealing with accusations of kanging. QUITE the different issue.
Deving anything in the android community requires thick skin. Sure I get mad. But I have not yet picked up my ball and gone home. The day I do, it won't be for reasons that a user got butt hurt for not reading.

I'm doing some casino boat ride Friday night with a couple of friends, hopefully everyone behaves themselves. You are lucky to have the day off today. The next time I'm seeing freedom like that is sat. I also need a new rom to flash.

What kind of rom are you looking for? AOSP or Sense? I've definitely been in love with CM7 Nightlies. I used the stable and the RC and they were alright, but the nightlies have been awesome for me.

i was on sense up until i started on gingerbeast. i ABSOLUTELY LOVE it. Battery life is great, it's fast, its smooth, its clean. No program incompatibilities or programs crashing. it's really nice. and the only tihng i really missed was a proper dialer with t9 and both dialer one and go contacts/dialer solve that problem. i'd highly recommend it if you want something clean, but the only caveat is that di11igaf, the guy that made the rom, left att recently he has promised us an update, but tehre's no telling when it will come out.
as for me, i'm trying to decide between ARHD 5 and stock rooted. arhd juts has a bunch of stuff and mods so i've found it to be slower than i like, but stock rooted is only froyo :\
anyways, back to off-topic - nothing big going on tihs weekend so i have time to relax with my family

as for me, i'm trying to decide between ARHD 5 and stock rooted. arhd juts has a bunch of stuff and mods so i've found it to be slower than i like, but stock rooted is only froyo :\

I would suggest rumrunner. It is pretty much a stock gingerbread build tailored for the inspire.
This weekend for me will consist of plenty of job hunting. Damn unemployment.....

Ah I'll try this as my next aosp. Flashed arhd last night and its pretty nice won't know battery life for a few days though

The worst part of Detroit? I think that qualifies as the worst place in America. This weekend I'm taking my wife to the Oregon Coast for our anniversary. Since summer finally arrived in the PNW, I figured it's time to get outside. I may even leave my Inspire turned off. Dun dun duuuunnnnn!
