Going to a concert at an abandoned warehouse in Detroit, it'll be fun, kind of sketchy because in like the worst part of town, but should be fun none the less. But I got the day off of work today so I'm flashing my new nightly and enjoying the freedom.

I'm doing some casino boat ride Friday night with a couple of friends, hopefully everyone behaves themselves. You are lucky to have the day off today. The next time I'm seeing freedom like that is sat. I also need a new rom to flash.

What kind of rom are you looking for? AOSP or Sense? I've definitely been in love with CM7 Nightlies. I used the stable and the RC and they were alright, but the nightlies have been awesome for me.

Just want to say I am enjoying the change of regime. You all are really mod'ing it up, and it is an improvement. Thank you.
That's the thing I don't know what I want. Both aosp and sense have their pros and cons. This is what happens when we have great devs that spoil us with so many great roms. I'm a fat kid in a candy store . Gonna probably give stardroid a whirl later on.

i was on sense up until i started on gingerbeast. i ABSOLUTELY LOVE it. Battery life is great, it's fast, its smooth, its clean. No program incompatibilities or programs crashing. it's really nice. and the only tihng i really missed was a proper dialer with t9 and both dialer one and go contacts/dialer solve that problem. i'd highly recommend it if you want something clean, but the only caveat is that di11igaf, the guy that made the rom, left att recently he has promised us an update, but tehre's no telling when it will come out.
as for me, i'm trying to decide between ARHD 5 and stock rooted. arhd juts has a bunch of stuff and mods so i've found it to be slower than i like, but stock rooted is only froyo :\
anyways, back to off-topic - nothing big going on tihs weekend so i have time to relax with my family

I would suggest rumrunner. It is pretty much a stock gingerbread build tailored for the inspire.

The worst part of Detroit? I think that qualifies as the worst place in America. This weekend I'm taking my wife to the Oregon Coast for our anniversary. Since summer finally arrived in the PNW, I figured it's time to get outside. I may even leave my Inspire turned off. Dun dun duuuunnnnn!

i was just curious if krylon has made any progress with CWM for the SGS4G? the last i read was that is was working on getting it to flash from the SD. i check his twitter a couple of times a day, but i haven't seen much, and i know he has to return the phone in the next couple of days.

I just got a reply on Twitter from Krylon. he will try to get the CWM fix by the weekend. our good friend started his new job this week..

Even though this topic isn't Titled the same. It's essentially doing the same thing. Which is to find out the progress or status of CWM. The OP already stated that he checks Krylon's Twitter daily if not more. Krylon said he won't be able to work on it till this weekend since he started a new job and all. Hopefully he'll be able to get the ROM to flash over with it. No promises are made of course and I'm not asking him to rush at all.
I know he'll be getting his G2X very soon but I hope that doesn't hinder the progress of CWM getting fixed.

Honest review I guess. I personally think you should have waited or flashed CM7 before jumping ship. You'd be much happier with the more powerful G2x with a fully working rom.

wow, you know what roms I flashed? lol I did man. CM7 was nice, but buggy. I had a n1 with CM 6 nightlies and they were much better.
Good luck with the G2x. Im just happy I gave the sensation a try cause I was all about cm7 and what your saying....

I honestly think the G2x is better all around. Better screen, processor, Rootable, etc.
The G2x doesn't even have gingerbread yet. It will be just pure awesomeness then.

I sure hope GB fixes a lot of the issues and that it comes out soon. The g2x is a really really nice device, but those damn bugs. I know the sensation has them too but not nearly as wide spread.
I really would have liked to keep the g2x. hell if they release a good g2x when back in stock. Ill pick up another.
I think the dust under the glass bothers you more than you think. The paragraph you wrote describing it is longer than everything else

I'm from Hawaii and I have more friends and family then I can count on my fingers and toes who has/are serving in the military. Some who have been on multiple deployments to Afghan and Iraq. And yet none of them have ever said or pulled the "I served your country so give some respect." #justsaying
anyways good luck with the sensation.

I was just waiting for it to come down to this. I get the feeling I'm one of the few that read every post in the threads for Incredibly Re-engineered, The Perfect Storm, and Gingeritus up until the holiday weekend began. It's not like the guy just had a bad day. It's more like for a couple months now people were getting way outta line with him about how he built his ROMs. Go over and read the thread for IR. As long ago as last year he was dealing with slugs that didn't read the OP. One of the reasons he put the wipe script in there was because of all the idiots flashing without wiping, then posting how his ROM sucked and had all kinds of issues, like it was his fault. I've flashed his ROMs onto many different phones, flawlessly, and everytime I hand the phone back to the owner they're like "Wow! This thing is FAST!" Yeah, maybe this subject is a dead horse, but it really bothers me how folks treat one another sometimes, especially when the bad attitude comes from a moron directed at someone basically giving gifts away. The mere thought of doing what these guys do makes me want to sever major arteries in my body. But, I'm sure glad they like it because I like the results! I could gripe about how the home screens are full of icons and widgets nobody would use, or the lack of some features like wireless tether in some ROMs, or the screen brightness, or the kernel he packed with it, but is there a point? No. I'm some nobody that stumbled across his work one day and thought "Gosh! This is top drawer work!" When someone puts there heart and time into something and applies the skills acquired over years, it shows. It shows in Chingy's work all the way back to Re-engineered for the EVO. I completely understand how he'd feel reading some of the posts on his threads. I would probably have done the same thing, except sooner. Sometimes I wonder why there aren't as many devs here as I'd like to see, especially for kernels, but I don't need to wonder long. I've screwed up my phone before. I've gotten pissed because it looked like some dev couldn't do anything right, but the reality is if his work was that bad, it wouldn't have been posted long enough for me to download. So I point the finger at me. Sometimes trying to get something to work just pisses me off because I'm not a dev, or even that wise to this stuff in general. Restore a nandroid and keep on having a good day. Pretty simple. It's hard to believe that's too hard for everyone to do! I feel bad for Chingy. More than a couple folks have gotten ugly with him over a long span of time. Gingeritus 1.1 is out now. I'm gonna go get that and continue enjoying how CHINGY, and ONLY CHINGY, believes a sense ROM should work.

These same "fellow" devs say the same snide remarks towards me. There is no code of honor.
That said, if you cannot stand the pressure of some dickhead users, then hang up the title belt. That goes for any dev, including myself. I mean I could get mad and retreat to my own forum because you called me a catty old lady, but I don't have that thin of skin. Sorry.
As for the virus issue, that was effing ridiculous because the dev jumped on me, and he didn't even take the time to read ahead of time and see what the deal was, and that I was dealing with accusations of kanging. QUITE the different issue.
Deving anything in the android community requires thick skin. Sure I get mad. But I have not yet picked up my ball and gone home. The day I do, it won't be for reasons that a user got butt hurt for not reading.

gtg now has to start a new thread. that post was specifically for the v2. he is doing the best he can to establish the gb rom. but people flood that post like nothing to it, thats not even a v2 thread anymore. its a troll thread
My opinion is all this wok for the infuse by these devs is on their own time. They do the best they can with what they have. People need to stop harassing them for eta's and improvements, especially when they state that they are working on it before the complaints start. Before you complain read the first post, it most likely tells all.

Agree Dave. A couple of lamers (bella incl) should not cause a dev thread to be locked. Although gtg is off fixing an issue and chose to take down the link for a bit, there are still ppl that could benefit from healty rom related conversation. Bella and a couple of other bella fanclowns have already indicated they're chomping at the bit to go to the SGS2. Good thing I am not moderating... Lol. I would have already helped them along with a ban from the infuse forums.

Agreed. I browse other threads too just to gain more knowledge, and I have never seen such users. This kind of thing is embarrassing, honestly. Honestly, they all stopped after getting a warning from the mod, but one specific user started the whole mess again by calling out Bella. So thank you to that user for ruining it for everyone.

I do agree that Neo should have and still should suspend the privelages of the habitual offenders. There are people who legitamately have problems and would like to discuss them in a respectfull manner and interact on an intelligent level. My kids and myself included!
The few bad apples ruined it for all! I feel bad for gtg and the others that work with and support him. He worked hard to make a test rom and got slapped in the face again by the people that clutter his thread with useless garbage.
There has got to be a better way!

I really hope they all leave for the sgs2. Either that or at least that they end up getting banned from here. I can't believe how ungrateful they are for the work that gtg and others are doing. This kind of crap never happened in the captivate forums, so I hope it dies out quickly so the devs can get back to doing what they're best at. Do not know but I have a gut feeling that when some members who have problem with gtg's rom leave this sub-forum we will see many more roms apart from much better (coming) gtg's rom

I never used any of Scott's work before but I've heard he turned out some pretty kickass stuff.

When people ignore mods telling them to knock it off, you know it's not going to end well.
Maybe a timeout for a day or two will let cooler heads prevail in the end.
I understand, if I was in Scott's position I would probably do the same. I just thinks it's funny how things clearly say what to do, and someone still messes it up.
I just sucks that people have to take it so far as to blame the dev for not doing something. When it for one flashing any thing has always been at your own risk, and two getting pissed off, and posting a nasty thread instead of just asking for help politely.

I'm pretty sure he is on his rom forums, maybe, just maybe if those people apologize, and we all ask nicely he may come back.
His work is great, I mean the s3 forums are donating to get him a phone. That alone should say something.
Now we are down to, we'll one sense rom that is kept up. And our aosp roms which can't progress much more without source.

I agree... Ban them, god I hope Scott comes back, one of the only reasons to keep this phone. I was worried and stated that this could happen, I saw it in the Vivid thread.
I hope he reads this and realizes that there are way more that appreciate his work more then complain about it. If he did leave I can't say I blame him, just hope it doesn't happen

So I have a few choice words that I think this entire forum should read, but its mainly directed to whomever was talking crap about Scott. And I don't know who it was. And I apologize for the occasional profanity, but its stuff like this that really hits home for me.
As developers, we try to enhance the user experience of our phones for the good of the community. We don't get anything out of developing besides the occasional donation that someone gives us since they like our work. We aren't forced to do the work that we do. I can turn around right now and cease all development on the two ROMs I do (AOKP and Evervolv) for this phone. But I don't. Want to know why? Because of all the people in the threads saying "Wow, this ROM is awesome! Thanks Rohan!" and "This made my phone really awesome! Thanks!". If I didn't have those people then I wouldn't feel like updating the ROM. Even if you aren't using my ROMs and you drop in to say "This looks awesome, though I will wait for more stability!" That feels good too since you know someone still liked your work.
When you have someone calling you "selfish" and "annoying" it gets to you. When you put your work out, you want it to be the best. When it isn't the best, you try to make it the best. Thats why I and every other developer on XDA update and fix bugs. We want the ROM to be the best it can be. Thats why I stay up regularly till 2 AM looking up new Android features and the Platform Guide on the android developer site. I want to become a better developer for the community. Not for myself, but for the community. When you have someone degrading yourself, you feel like ****. And when you don't feel good about your work, you feel like the community is not enjoying your work. At that point it becomes a "why bother even updating this" sort of thing.
So when someone is being an asshat in the forums against you, it hurts. If you think that putting these ROMs out benefits us, the developers in any way besides the infrequent donation, you are sorely mistaken. We put these ROMs out for the community. I enjoy making ROMs for the community because I like to see all of the "Great job!" posts in my thread. It vindicates my work and proves me right that I can indeed make a ROM people like. Sure, the donations are an added plus and they help as well.
And now onto the "selfish" part of that statement. Are. you. effing. kidding. me. Seriously? You call us selfish. After staying up late hours to get a ROM out for YOU, you turn around and call us selfish? I dont even know what to say to that statement. We are not "selfish." You think putting our name onto a ROM is the best prize in the world? Why the flying f*** would we need that? So that people know my name? Are you effing kidding me?
So whomever it was, GTFO. The work that we do as developers benefits nobody but the people of these forums. We, the developers help make XDA how great it is. If you don't want to deal with developers, please, go back to stock. We don't need you to run our ROMs.
And to the rest of you, thank you for showing your support. Its a sad day when someone as nice as Scott is lost due to a few spoilt brats in the forums. And please, if you are using a custom ROM and you are enjoying it, tell your developer that you like it. Tell them that this phone became better because of their work. I promise you that we read the posts when we have time. And whenever we do it makes us feel a bit more warm and fuzzy inside.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Scott state a long time ago like cleanrom 2.1 days that CWM caused issues? And Scott also said he loved CWM and hated to switch from it?

Yep, back when the SD card wiping issues first started happening he told everyone not to use CWM and to use TWRP instead. Buuuut people don't want to do any actual reading so it becomes Scott's fault for not showing up at their doorstep and holding their hand for them when they flash his ROMs, cross the street, take a piss, what have you. Bottom line is if you flash, you assume ALL risk. It's your own damn fault for not reading. Even if you're flashing an updated version of the ROM you've been running for months, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS read the entire OP for changelog, flash instructions, etc. The moron in question said that it's because his xda app didn't put the warning in red but bottom line is it was still there. Had he READ THE ENTIRE OP, he would have seen the warning whether it was red, green, blue or purple with pink polka dots. His own damn fault, and at this point I'm glad his phone got eff'd up. Serves him right.
