Wait for a bit for the battery to settle down, and try turning the device on. If it turns on and you get stuck on ROM version splash, switch it to boot mode (soft-reset while holding Camera). Once in boot mode, power button will work to turn the device off. Hook the device up to a wall charger (not USB cable) and it will charge up, effectively un-bricking. Allow it to charge up to 100% before any flash attempt.
The point here is that a device does not charge up while in ROM version splash or in boot mode, but only in boot mode does the power button work to turn it off (at least in my device).

Download the latest, full ROM from your device manufacturer, and re-flash it while in boot mode (might not work under Vista or Server 2003, use Windows XP/ActiveSync 4.5 to flash).
Hard-reset the device, and once asked, press Send key to reformat FAT partition. You might get the dreaded "Format is failed" error message. The only way out of this is backing up and restoring from a miniSD card, which includes an additional BINFS formatting step, not present when flashing from boot. For a complete procedure, see:

Best of luck.

i have done the same ....... but i have to ROM version splash (RGB) constanly on without the orange light showing (usally show when charging)... is this ok for a full charge
You probably don't need to charge the battery. If it is at the rainbow screen (RGB) and you get the word USB in the bottom left corner when you connect it to the computer, you are good to go to reflash your manufacturer ROM. Once you get a good flash of your manufacturer, you will be able to recharge your battery and will probably notice that you are still about 80%. I tried to flash 6 times and was still at 83%. Stay cool and put an official ROM back on and you will be back in business.

No, PC-USB cable charging did not work for my Cingular 8125. I had it power-bricked as well, and powering it off with the power button and hooking it up to a wall charger was able to charge it back up. The only other way is to take your battery to a friend, a Radio Shack or a Circuit City, and ask the guys to charge it for you.

Hold left-side upper Comms button + right-side upper Voice button and press-in the right-side middle soft-reset spot with a stylus. Keep holding the keys and after a reset your device will ask you to press in the Send key (the key used to answer an incoming call) to FAT format. Hold Send and release Comms + Voice and off you are.
For more information, Read The Fine Manual, it's described in detail all over the place.

No, as mentioned above, your device might not charge while in ROM version splash, or in boot-mode. ROM version splash and boot-mode RGB are two different things. If you are in ROM version splash (IPL/SPL/ROM/OS versions displayed with cellular operator logo), hold down Camera key and and press-in the right-side soft-reset spot with a stylus to switch it to the red-green-blue boot-mode. Once in red-green-blue boot-mode, press the power button to power off the device (it does not power off in splash, but powers off in boot). If it is powered off, and hooked up to a wall charger, the orange light will come on, indicating charging. Once it turns back to green, you are all set to re-flash.
You probably do want to fully re-charge your device before re-flashing, because if it dies in the middle of a flash, or in the middle of a miniSD card restore, you're back to square one.

No siree Bob. That's not what's gonna help you.
You need to get into the bootloader screen (tri-color screen). To do this, you need to press and hold the camera button and just tap and release the reset button (while still holding in the camera button). Now you're at the tri-color screen (you can release the camera button now).
Now, connect the USB cable to your computer that has Activesync installed. Now, just download and install your original carrier ROM to the phone as you would normally do. That's it!
Magically you will have a working phone again.

I had the same problem of the battery not charging from the 3 colour boot screen. Your phone is definately recoverable but first you need to get a fully charged battery. the only way i could find to do this was to buy a new battery from ebay that came with a free desktop charger. It was about £10 i think. A small price to pay for recovering your wizard mate.

Not necessarily. My understanding is that for a flashed OS to boot, it needs a FAT partition, just like a desktop OS. A FAT partition lives inside a BINFS storage system. If a device gets stuck in the ROM version splash screen (operator logo and multiple version numbers) your OS installation might be fine, but it cannot access its expected file system, and - just like a desktop OS - just hangs. To see if that is the case, do the hard-reset + Send procedure I describe again below. If this *is* a BINFS problem, you will get the "Format is failed" error message.
Is that what's happening with your device?
If so, re-flashing a ROM does NOT fix that problem, since flashing a ROM does nothing to re-initialize BINFS, allowing later FAT partition format. Yes, I agree it is pretty dumb of HTC not to include such an important step in a complete flash or a hard-reset, but that's just how things are. BINFS initialization, however, *is* a part of a miniSD card backup and restore process. Buy a cheap, $10 miniSD card (I used 256MB), and follow the procedure in the link I posted earlier.

You are probably letting go of Comms + Voice keys too early, effectively getting into a soft-reset instead of hard-reset. Keep holding those two keys, "do not let go" (to use the "Titanic" line ), and press in the reset spot with a stylus. Keep holding the keys. Screen will turn black and sit there for a while. Keep holding the keys. The device will turn back on, and a message should come up asking you whether you want to go back to factory settings. Keep holding Commns + Voice, hold down Send (green phone icon), and THEN let go of Comms + Voice. A FAT format should commence.

I think I'm screwed...Stuck on www.Samsung.com screen

While trying to flash noobl's one click Andromeda, I may have bricked my phone... the process got to the red "installing" screen on my phone, then just sat there... The command prompt on my pc, meanwhile said to press any key to continue. I did and the command prompt screen disappeared. My phone continued to show the installing screen, but the status bar was not moving, so I took a deep breath and did a battery pull. When I powered back on, I'm stuck at the www.samsung.com splash screen. What do I do now??? http://media.xda-developers.com/imag...lies/frown.gif
I tried to use Aridon's instructions to unbrick a phone (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773032) but I can't seem to get the phone to power up in "download mode" by holding the "1" key while powering up... It just stays on the www.samsung.com screen.

Well, in this device there is a reset sliding button, you can find it hidden below the device, slide this to the left and then back to the right, the device now should shutdown. now press the power button for at least 3 seconds and you will have your device back to life. hope it works for you as it did for me.

There is a method of reflashing the Firmware of the device via SD-Card.
Just run the exe in the zip-file and direct it to copy all files to your SD.
Then insert ist into your device and slide the mini hardware switch from right to left and back. Now turn on the Device it schould now display Toshiba-splash with the little message saying "Updating..." it take some time, but then after a restart you are good to go.
Beware the Update is DELETING all yout Data on the Device even if it is not stored in the Windows part of the flash!
Just remove the " "

Re help with galaxy tab 2 power button !

help with samsung galaxy tablet 2 power button !
*Hi guys*I'm finally making the move and have bought a Samsung galaxy tablet 2 for my bmw e46 dash but have found a problem and wondered if any of you guys have a work around for it ?As you know the power button is on the edge of the tablet externally so once it's installed behind the dash you can't push it to either lock the screen or take it out of sleep mode and also it doesn't matter have a proximity to sensor built in etc*Any idea how I can press this power button while it's behind the dash either by the touchscreen using an app or another way that anybody can think of cause I'm stuck ??*So help ppl**
I've read some people use an app called TASKER to set it so that when they crank the car (giving the tablet power thru the charger) the screen comes on and stays on till its turned off. maybe check more into that?

If he won't have access to his power button after mounting the tablet in the dash, he probably won't have access to the volume buttons either.
here is a thread from another site where a guy put a nexus 7 into the dash of his vette http://ls1tech.com/forums/stereo-electronics/1584175-c6-android-tablet-stereo-dash-install.html
If your'e thinking about doing a hardware mod , Try AdamOutler (XDA TV) He does some pretty cool stuff and may offer some solid advice. Knows his stuff thats for sure.
XDA unboxing /tutorial Adam Outler style
Guess you could move the power button onto the dash itself if the device is getting built into it as a permanent fixture ? Not that id have a clue how to do that lol.
Not making any mod to the tab: You may mount a solenoid, http://www.solenoidcity.com/solenoid/solenoidcatalog.htm on the dash to actuate the switch. Will require some mechanical / electrical skill to accomplish the job..
fixed?
did you ever find a solution.. I have the same car and the same issue
Thanks!
Thing is you can easily get apps from store to
1.lock screen
2.turn off tab
3.toggle volume
But real problem comes with turning on tab...
Though you can turn on tab from sleep via some apps called smartawake and others(believe of there are lot of them on play)
By these apps you can turn on tab using proximity sensor(it will work),vibrations
But for instance when your tab gets off you have to press power button.
That can be done by pressing in physically or a hardware hack(you got to open up your tab and do stuff with your power buttons.like providing external switch to it etc)

Hey guys I am having a similar problem with my galaxy tab install in the car. I come out in the morning and the tablet is dead. I am currently charging it via usb but was planning on putting a power inverter in the glove box for faster charging (maybe?) What I would really like to do is to be able to extend the power button leads to an external button that I can mount in the dash. Anyone done this before or have any suggestions?
Someone recommended Tap Tap App (lock and unlock the screen with a double tap on the proximity sensor) around here. I've tried it and it works.

Yea that would work for turning the screen on and off, but im talking about if the tablet dies completely. It will be getting charge when I turn the car back on but I wouldn't be able to turn the tablet back on itself because I can't get to the power button.

It appears that the firmware overwrote the custom recovery on a reboot, and when I entered recovery to install CM I got a screen saying "entering recovery..." in pink at the top, htc logo in the middle, and "This build is only intended for development, to not leak from HTC" (something like that) in red at the bottom. Nothing happened.
I shut it down and started it back up, and it went to boot with the same htc logo and red message at the bottom -- and froze there. Only 10+ sec power button restarts it, nothing else helps. Weird enough I noticed that if it's on a cable it won't restart but just stay off, and if it's not connected it will restart immediately, no chance to switch it off.
Here's my biggest problem: my volume rocker is brocken. Up works somewhat, but down is 95% dead. I entered the bootloader through adb before, but since I can't boot the phone anymore I can't get in anymore.
It seems to me like the best solution would be to somehow fix the volume rocker. It's not 100% dead, occasionally I could get a keypress through, so I would just suppose the contacts are a little bad and I could just polish it a little? But the phone seems a pain to take apart.
What would you suggest? Is it too easy to break the whole thing while trying to clean the contacts of the rocker?
Thanks for any help / comments!

Taking it apart is smth you can do. Ik its hard, i tried but if you're confident its your power button then do it. After you reveal the back of our phone, you can access the buttons

While that is my last resort, I'd like to avoid it. I do have a working Nexus 5 after all.

It's the volume rocker, not the power button; and it's been broken for a long time. I'm a little afraid I might rip things apart, but this makes it look outright easy: youtube.com/watch?v=6j25jajIq3g. I'll give it a try.
