I have connected my TF to my desktop and my laptop. I have also connected the tablet to the wall charger to verify that the cord isn't broke. I cannot enter APX mode either. I am running Prime 1.7. So has anyone else had this problem? Or does anyone have a fix?
Thank-you in advance.

Had the same exact problem. It's back to Asus on a RMA. Hope you have better luck than I did.
I did try rooting my Transformer but wasn't successful. At any rate when I connect my Transformer to my XP machine it acts like its connected but its not. In order for it to connect I have to tap on the notification icon on the Transformer. This bring up a dialog box & if I tap inside the box the they will connect. When my Transformer is connected shouldn't I get the option to explore like when you insert a USB drive?
You should.
Should be able to explore it just like if you were to plug in a USB thumb or external drive

That is what I thought. Then I tried rooting my transformer via this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1104503.
However I am not given the option to explore & my transformer doesn't automatically connect via Asus Sync. I have to tap on Asus Sync on the Transformer to establish the connection. I don't want to go any further with rooting my Transformer until this is resolved. anyone have any ideas?
I know that you should be able to, but when I go into devices and printers it doesnt even show up. Now it is not even turning on. I have had so many problems with this transformer, I am honestly thinking of going to the much dreaded Ipad.

Sorry for being such a noob here, I am not used to honeycomb. But how did you revert to stock? Because all of the unroot methods seem to require APX mode. Which I cannot get into obviously.
This was the only method that worked for me.

My Asus Eee Pad will not mount to my Mac whatever I try. Its driving me insane.
I plug it in to a working USB on my Mac and the tablet signifies the connection and displays USB debugging has connected and attempts to search for the Asus Sync program (which isn't installed).
The Eee Pad mounts to my Windows PC without the Sync program installed and works fine with read and write permission to the internal storage.
My Mac will just not recognize it at all, even checking disk utility it will not show up.

I dont want to sync it, I just want to transfer files. I only mentioned sync because when you connect a TF to a USB port on a computer it searches for the Asus Sync Software automatically. But it will also mount the internal storage for file transfer regardless of any sync software. This happens just fine on my Windows PC but on my Mac it just wont mount.
Try Syncmate. available on the market. But Mac's are very everything none apple unfriendly. Basically Apple wants you to have apple products, software and douche bag hippster look. I say ditch one or the other.

Shame, I love Mac's but can't live without Windows.
And I like iOS products but could never live without my Android phone and Tablet.

I use a small program 'Android File Transfer'. Just connect the Pad to the Mac, run the program and the Pad mounts like an external disk. I don't recall where I got this program. You might check: http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1120329

Hey XDA,
Two days ago I updated my transformer to 3.2 after a 2 months that I didn't used him, after the update I noticed that when I connect the transformer to my PC, the PC doesn't recognize him and the transformer himself didn't open the Asus Sync app to find the ASUS SYNC in the PC.
Its not the USB cable because it charging and its new.
Its not the USB port I tried another device.
Its not the computer \ OS , I have 2 windows on my computer and it doesn't work in any of them.
I tried to wipe twice , it end up with a lot of lost data that I forgot to backup.
I tried it in APX mode and its doesn't work either.
I tried USB Debug ON/OFF
I tried Reinstall drivers.
I really dont know what to do I search in google hours and I didn't find anything.
Thanks alot for helpers!
BTW sorry about my english.
Same stuff is happening to me.

Any idea ?? Its like the Asus Sync app in the pad doesn't work.
Does that happend to you after updated to 3.2?
probably still isn't the cable but just because it charges doesn't mean the cable isnt broken. The data uses different cores to the charging.

Not the first time. After a reset it started doing that.
Same problem here after updated to 3.2 no more working sync.
PC does recognize the transformer self open can open files on the SD card. But the Asus Sync app can't find the Transformer on the PC.

Where did you get the usb cable? I can't seem to find one anywhere.
What's wierd is that i never "tortured" the cable to account for it to break...
It's always in the same area, attached to the charger (only take it of to connect to the pc, wich is like, 15 cm away from the charger), no pulls, no sharp bends... but it fells fragile on the connector (dances a bit from side to side)

usb cable is not the problem.
Can connect to the PC en transfer files to/from the mem card.
Just restored a partition image form the PC witch was working before...
So problem must be in the transformer...

I tried rooting a couple of months ago & was unable to because I couldn't get Asus Sync Installed correctly. My problem was that when I connected my Transfomer to my computer the computer wasn't seeing it like a flash drive. I installed & uninstalled everything numerous times. I used about 3 different programs to cleanse my registry & delete all of the temp files. I use AVG & disabled everything that I could disable. Last week I was finally able to get everything working.

Thanks for your response, when you connected the transformer to the PC did the Asus Sync app\icon opened in the transformer? You can see this next to the clock, did you saw this before you fixed the problem ? Because when I bought the pad it was there, but now it doesn't.
Thanks for helping, please write back if you had or hadn't the icon.(Of Asus Sync app).

And ccleaner didnt help either.
Hey guys I'm on my phone so I don't have the actual apk names but do you still have the two apks that relate to the "phone" installed? I had a problem similar to this but fixed it by reinstalling one of those. Not sure if this will help but you can give it a try. One of the apks is phone and the other is voicemail I think ... They are both tied into bluetooth and usb I guess .... Like I said not sure if it will fix for you but worth a try.

Same here, no 3G support. If you could give at least the name of the apk so we can search and try it would be awsome
Cable Problem
In my case it was a cable problem (more precisely connector that is pluged in device). The connection isn't tight, the device was charging, but USB data transfer was not working, either it doesn't recognize the device, or if you manage to find a connector position in which it recognise it, usb connection is so unstable that it will stop working if you move it a little.
When I connect the Transformer to my computer I get the message "USB device not recognized." Have read many threads on this subject. The main solution seems to be to RMA your Transformer and get a new one sent by Asus, but mine was refurbished and is already out of warranty. I have tried the Asus Suite and also the alternative "Naked" drivers. Nothing has worked.
Was previously running on Revolver 3. Just upgraded my system to Revolver 4, doing a factory reset and full wipe, hoping that might solve the problem, but it has not.
I have read that some people with a rooted Transformer have solved this problem by "re installing the bootloader," nut I have been unable to find information on how to do this. Is this an option in my situation and does anyone know or could anyone connect me to a link describing the process?
Assuming I cannot get my Transformer recognized by my PC after reinstalling the bootloader, what would be the most convenient way for me to transfer files between the two?
Thanks for your help.
Update on the problem:
Last night I decided to experiment with the USB connection, pushing and moving the USB connector once it was connected to the computer. And guess what? For a split second my device got recognized, and actually showed up in Windows Explorer. Then a second later I was getting the same "USB device not recognized message." By fiddling with the connector I was able to get this split second recognition about four or five times, then I gave up. It's just not good enough to have the device recognized for one second!
Anyway, based on this I conclude my Transformer hardware and system must be fine, it's just the sync cord is poorly made--well, it doesn't seem to be the cord, but the USB connector specifically that is defective.
The cord does work to charge my Transformer when plugged into an electrical socket, so all the more odd that it malfunctions when attached to a computer. I've now discovered several threads describing a similar situation: cord worked for charging but stopped working for computer connection. So looks like what we are dealing with here is fairly common manufacturing defect with the USB connector on the Asus Transformer cord.
I won't know for sure until I get a new cord, but once I do I'll post an update as to whether or not the problem is solved. Hope this can help someone else in the same boat. At least worth trying a new cord before RMA!
hello
perhaps stupid questions, but :
- Did you tried to check/uncheck "USB debugging" ?
- did you tried to communicate with ADB ?
i have the same problem with mine. i just ordered a new cable. hopefully this fix the problem so can root and install new ROM

something similar just started happening, but only after i rooted it.
my tablet used to connect to Windows 7 just perfectly. but immediately after root, (with the same cable that was used to root it) is no longer recognized by Windows 7. haven't tried a different cable because i didn't have another handy at the time, but i will try to use another cable.
then i've tried to uninstall the drivers from Device Manager, and downloaded the USB drivers ZIP from the ASUS site... "ASUS_Android_USB_drivers_for_Windows.zip"
but when browse to the INF file during the detection part, i get an alert message that won't allow the use of the INF file.
any help would be much appreciated.
Hi all!,
I have to transfer about 10Gb thought USB from a XP pc.
The problem is that it seems that after 10min (more o less), the connection is broken (I think it's to charge the tablet) so I can't transfer the whole data.
Is there any method to avoid this behaviour?
I tried to deactivate the auto turn off of the screen but it didn’t work. The only way is to use the tablet during the transfer but since it takes a lot of time I would prefer another method.
Any idea?
Thanks!
PD: I was reading the foro for a long time but this is my first post!
Strange ! I've got no trouble copying movies from PC to TF700 in USB (both on XP and 7)
But I found a faster to do this : Airdroid (Wifi)
Install apk on your tab. On your computer, open navigator and go to web.airdroid.com.
Enter the password give by your tab.
Enjoy !

I use airdroid for my transfer as well. I don't think screen turn off should matter. But in any event, how about giving a try on airdroid and make sure you have WIFI set to on always even when screen is off. Usually 1GB file takes I believe somewhere 5-10 minutes for me so by simple math 10GB may take up to 50 minutes to an hour and half. Alternative would be to simply copy to microsd.
If it is a shared drive you can use ES File Explorer to copy.

Try enabling Performance mode - otherwise when the screen goes out that tablet might automatically disable the USB port after a certain amount of time to save battery.

If you have the dock and a USB drive you should be able to transfer to the drive first and then to the tablet. It's an additional step but it may work in your case.

ES explorer can be another possibility.

Get a 16 gig micro sd card with full size adaptor. Transfer the files directly from pc. Probably the fastest way to do it. If you have usb adaptor you can use a usb drive and do the same thing.

Airdroid does not require both devices to be on WiFi, it requires both devices to be connected to the same router / LAN. IOW, if you connect your tablet via WiFi to the same LAN as your computer is connected to, it will work.
OnAir is another solution as well, but works slightly differently - it creates a temporary FTP daemon that runs on the device that you can then connect to. Again, same LAN for best results.

Kewl, let us know.
I know that this theme has been beaten mercilessly, but let's try it again. Maybe someone can help.
I'm looking to breath some life back into my old TF101 with an update to KatKiss.
My serial number starts 037. I'm running 4.0.3 ICS. I have USB debugging enabled. I have MTP enabled. On the computer side, I'm running Win 8.1 on a Haswell i7 16GB with USB 3.0.
I have the original USB cord, and a new 3.0 USB cord from a third-party manufacturer. I've tried both cables. The TF101 itself is well-aged and somewhat beat up, but not beyond use. The cords work for charging.
When I plug the USB cable into the PC, the computer makes a sound, but no device is shown. The TF101 doesn't show that it's connected to the computer. I've looked everywhere: Devices and Printers, Device Manager (there's no "Other Device Listed"), under safely remove devices, and even under Computer Management > Storage > Disk Management. The TF101 is nowhere to be found. The computer does not recognize it.
When I power off the tablet, and try going to APX (or whatever) mode with VOL UP and POWER, nothing happens there either. (The computer shows nothing whether connected through the USB cable while Android OS is running, or while I'm trying to go into APX mode.) I can, however, go into recovery mode (or whatever it would be called) by holding VOL DOWN and POWER. I tried a factory reboot, but that didn't work either. The computer still doesn't see it.
Basically, I've concluded that there's no hope. Given this state of affairs, I cannot root my TF101, and, because I cannot root the tablet, I cannot install custom ROMs on it.
Does that about sum it up? Anybody else have any other great ideas?
I'd very much appreciate any insight anyone could give me.
Install the drivers on this thread and download Easyflasher
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688012
Power off the TF while it is connected to the PC
Hold Power & Vol Up to enter APX mode
Device should be recognised by windows and hear the USB connect sound
Nothing will appear on TF screen
Run the Easyflasher and install TWRP
When done, boot to recovery to check you have TWRP recovery installed
If yes, copy KatKiss ROM to Micro SDCard in TF and flash from TWRP along with Gapps

Detection, I appreciate your response! The thing is, when I try to enter APX mode, nothing is recognized by the computer. I don't hear any sound. I don't see any new devices appear anywhere.
Should I conclude that I have the "TF101-is-not-recognized-by-PC Problem"? And, if I do, is there anything else I can do to about rooting and installing a custom ROM?
RJM
In device manager, try enabling "View hidden devices" and see if you can see the TF101 ghost entry, if yes, remove it and then plug the TF back in and see if it's recognised then
If you don't see anything that way, try viewing hidden devices with it plugged in too
There is no reason it shouldn't be detected in APX mode unless you have been unlucky and have 2 dodgy cables, or there is actually hardware damage to the TF
Try installing windows to a virtual machine too, see whether you can get it recognised that way
If you have access to another machine, see if you can get it seen on there to rule out hardware as the issue
Thanks for the reply. I appreciate your interaction very much.
I've tried it on both machines. There is no sign of TF101 anywhere, on either machine, as a ghost or anything else. I've looked under the Android section, as well as under Portable devices and every other list. There's definitely no sign of a TF101. No sign of anything that my TF101 might be posing under.
The only time I get any kind of response by the computer is when I plug the TF101 into the computer when the TF101 has Camera (PTP) mode activated. When I do that, I hear a little jingle. If I have the Device Manager open, it flashes. But, even then, I don't see any sign of it anywhere.
I'm totally stumped. Would there be some clear indication on the hardware that would cause the problem?
By the way, both USB cables charge just fine when I'm using the USB power box. But when using the computer, there is no charge or any other sign of the thing.
If you have any other advice, I'd love to try it!
The power and data connections on the USB lead are separate, so if you have a faulty lead, it could still charge, but not be seen by the PC
Something like this:
1: Power
2. Data
3. Data
4. Power
You won't see the TF charge from PC, it is only a trickle charge via PC, and the TF has to be powered off iirc, or at least the screen has to be off, so you only see the result, not the actual charge
Not sure what having the camera on is doing, I would still lean towards faulty USB cables being the issue even though you have 2 of them
Im guessing that the 2nd cable is a 3rd party cable, not a genuine ASUS TF101 cable ?
