[Q] Anyway to use Titanium Backup without root - HTC Sensation

Hi All
I (stupidly) got overwhelmed the shininess of the new OTA update for my excellent HTC Sensation and went back to S-On to get it. Forgetting that in order to use Titanium Backup (excellent btw) I needed root access to my phone.
Does anyone know a way to restore from titanium without root access?
I freely admit to making a n00b mistake so if it's not possible then it's my own fault.

No, titanium needs root to backup or restore apps.

Now, you can't. If temp-root is available for that update you could just temp-root it to restore your apps, and you wouldn't have to leave the new software.

Does partial root deletes data?

Im thinking on rooting my htc wildfire but i want to back up my app data so here is my question does partial root deletes data? so i can back up with my back up or titanium then do a full root
afaik rooting does not delete any data. you're better off doing a permanent root then backing up your data rather than doing only a temporary root
does afaik works on htc wildfire?
ps. cant seem to find afaik is that an abbreviation?
afaik = as far as i know
and about rooting your phone, heres a guide for your phone (using unrevoked):

[Q] NB Question regarding removal of crapware

I am new to android world. just got HTC TMOUS sensation. i read about root your phone and S-Off etc. looks intimidating to a newbie like me. what I want to do is just be able to permanently remove crapware and just have clear device. i was able to do it temp-root method ,and used Titanium backup to uninstall crap. but if by any chance phone reboots , then i have to do it all over. So my question is
1) how can i achieve permanent removal of extra software (bloatware, crapware) without flashing any ROM? If that not possbile , then
2) is there any script or automated option for Titanium backup to unistall all the crap in one go, instead of doing it one by one?
Thanks in advance.

thanks 4 quick reply, gathering some courage. what is the best way to backup all my app setting? (titanium backup ?) i have temp-rooted the device.
If you don't want to flash any ROMs you can just get S-OFF using Revolutionary, acquire root (follow the guide), and then use Titanium Backup to fully uninstall the crap you don't want. That will be permanent.
I would go ahead and get S-OFF and ditch Temp-Root as that is pretty obsolete at this point. It's easy if you read beforehand, follow the guide, and ask for help if needed.

titanium is the way to go to backup stuff if your temp-rooted. Id reccommend just batch backup of USER apps not system ones because the custom roms youll be installing will have a lot of updates to system apps.
Good luck man any questions shoot me a pm or raden^ he knows his **** and is helpful as hell too
thanks friends, i will try over the weekend. now it is time to go ...
Id seriously reconsider S-OFF if you DONT want ROMs! It aint easy to get S-ON again in the event a button falls off your phone or some other random warranty related incident occurs. If you send back an S-OFF phone to Tmobile or HTC, they MIGHT accuse you of voiding your warranty.
If you just want to stop bloatware, go the temp root method and FREEZE (Not delete) the thing you dont want. Then, you can reboot and no longer be rooted and still be S-ON.
I say to FREEZE and not DELETE because Tmobile or HTC may become suspicious as to where their bloatware went when you send them your phone. If you simply froze it, you can temp root, then UNFREEZE what you did and then reboot to remove the traces of an obvious root.
Alot of people here are irresponsibly pushing S-OFF on people when they REALLY need to find out if that is what they TRULY need!
I dont want to flash ANYONE's ROMs, but plan to get CM7 a shot.

I would agree with this. Don't delete anything without a backup or use the Freeze method with Titanium Backup. That way if something goes wrong, you're not up a creek!

Agree'd again. Don't jump into S-OFF if you aren't comfortable with it or don't plan on flashing custom ROMs. If it's just bloatware you wish to remove, use Titanium.
Good luck!
now i am bit more confused as they say at wall street, it is a risk-reward balance you have to consider.
i have installed launcher EX, i like it so far, can i uninstall sense altogether using titanium backup app?

You can use titanium backup and nandriod to backup your data. You will get updates, but once you updated software from HTC (os) your device will be uprooted and you need to root again .
Post your questions in HTC one X forum to get more response.

forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1644167 is the guide to rooting your One X. Also, briefmobile.com/how-to-install-cwm-recovery-on-htc-one-x-att shows you how to place CWM on your phone, and you can do quite a bit from there, including installing custom ROMs without messing up your binary counter, full backups of EVERYTHING, and use Titanium Backup can be used to back up data as well, restorable upon re-installation of Titanium Backup.

I'm trying to recover deleted texts on my HTC and the program I was using said I needed to root the phone but then I hear that will wipe out data making it hard to recover. Help!!! Will that Titanium avoid that? Is it free? This has already cost me almost 200 trying to get messages off phone.

[Q] (Temp)Root without Unlock or undo Unlock?

Hey everyone,
my girlfriend is getting her new phone today after giving her old one to t-mobile because of battery problems.
My question is, if there is a way to root or temproot her phone without unlocking the bootloader. I just want to recover the backups i made with titanium backup.
Or do you think it's enough to recover from HTC Backup? I saved all of her data through htc backup but i am not sure if her savegames and so on will be restored, too.
Thanks in advance,
Patrick
Okay, another idea. IF I unlock and root, is there any way to get back to stock recovery with locked bootloader and no tampered message? All with the original t-mobile stock firmware running?
Maybe by pushing revone via adb and using ./revone -t -l? Or do I have to be s-off to these revone commands?
I think you have to be s-off to remove any flags. Even if you restore to 100% stock using ruu, I think you'll still be either unlocked or relocked
Well, that's what I thought ...
So I have to find a way to root without unlocking.
Or do you think I can restore the data from the backup made with titanium any other way? Important for my girlfriend are mainly some savegames.
Most of the messages, contacts, etc. were restored through the HTC Backup, also we made a backup of Whatsapp and restored it already.
I don't know much about titanium backup. Sorry. I can't help you there.

Can I recover from a total backup with Titanium Backup without Root?

I was looking at doing a complete backup. (I already have a backup but not like a 'full' one that I can do whilst rooted.) However I'm not sure if it is worth my time, as I have my phone numbers, pictures, passwords, 2FA keys etc, already backed up.
If I were to unfortunately completely break my phone, to the point that I have to use another one for a while. If I have to borrow a phone (Money can't always be just on the hip to buy a new phone) I can't exactly root a phone that I'm only borrowing, does this mean that I can't recover my backup until I have a rooted device? Or do I lose part of the backup?
as long as i know the titanium backup need a root device to work, so if ur phone not rooted i guess it's impossible to recover with titanium backup, but m newbie too maybe the senior in here have another opinion... ^^
