I was looking at doing a complete backup. (I already have a backup but not like a 'full' one that I can do whilst rooted.) However I'm not sure if it is worth my time, as I have my phone numbers, pictures, passwords, 2FA keys etc, already backed up.
If I were to unfortunately completely break my phone, to the point that I have to use another one for a while. If I have to borrow a phone (Money can't always be just on the hip to buy a new phone) I can't exactly root a phone that I'm only borrowing, does this mean that I can't recover my backup until I have a rooted device? Or do I lose part of the backup?
as long as i know the titanium backup need a root device to work, so if ur phone not rooted i guess it's impossible to recover with titanium backup, but m newbie too maybe the senior in here have another opinion... ^^

Hi All
I (stupidly) got overwhelmed the shininess of the new OTA update for my excellent HTC Sensation and went back to S-On to get it. Forgetting that in order to use Titanium Backup (excellent btw) I needed root access to my phone.
Does anyone know a way to restore from titanium without root access?
I freely admit to making a n00b mistake so if it's not possible then it's my own fault.
No, titanium needs root to backup or restore apps.
Now, you can't. If temp-root is available for that update you could just temp-root it to restore your apps, and you wouldn't have to leave the new software.
Hi,
Is there a way or an app that allows hacking HTC ONE X without loosing data? i have read many tutorials but all of them suggest rooting method that wipes off all the data. also, is it possible to get official HTC updates after rooting the phone. i don't want to unlock my bootloader. just want to root the phone to install apps.

You can use titanium backup and nandriod to backup your data. You will get updates, but once you updated software from HTC (os) your device will be uprooted and you need to root again .
Post your questions in HTC one X forum to get more response.

forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1644167 is the guide to rooting your One X. Also, briefmobile.com/how-to-install-cwm-recovery-on-htc-one-x-att shows you how to place CWM on your phone, and you can do quite a bit from there, including installing custom ROMs without messing up your binary counter, full backups of EVERYTHING, and use Titanium Backup can be used to back up data as well, restorable upon re-installation of Titanium Backup.

I'm trying to recover deleted texts on my HTC and the program I was using said I needed to root the phone but then I hear that will wipe out data making it hard to recover. Help!!! Will that Titanium avoid that? Is it free? This has already cost me almost 200 trying to get messages off phone.
So I have an issue with my Nexus 5, and Google shipped me a replacement, Is there any way to clone my current phone so I don't have do reinstall anything. Is there a safe way to do this without issue to the IMEI?
sign into your google account when your new phone arrives. you apps will reinstall themselves. if you have root, and will root your new phone, you can make a nandroid backup in your recovery, then restore it on your new phone.

the last time I used Nandroid to clone a device, it screwed it all up because it copied the IMEI and the serial number of the phone. This I'm trying to avoid once again.

Yes, do not backup / restore EFS which most recoveries don't do by default

At a minimum, if you restored data, you would have all your installed apps, and it would pick up where you left off. Your candy crush progress is safe
All of this assumes your old phone is rooted, and you plan to root your replacement.

Both phones rooted. Sitting in my lap now. Just moved the Nandroid to the laptop, and now moving it to the new phone.
My phone went through the boot loop and I had to factory reset and lose everything this morning. OK, my bad for not backing up, though I did back up some things like photos.
I want to ensure my other phone doesn't have this issue -- and the only 'full backup' I'm aware of (nandroid) requires the unlocked bootloader which this phone does not have. So what is the best way for me to back up this phone PRIOR to unlocking bootloader and forcing a factory refresh?
I know I can back up photos and other stuff relatively easy, but these things I had to restore on my phone manually:
Texts (Use SMS Backup and Restore, I know, but hadn't run it recently)
Custom Ringtones (Not sure how to do this other than manually)
Application Data (since some apps do store the data locally)
Is there anything proactive I can do or any magical non-root stock supported app to back up this phone 'just in case'?
Thanks.

Well you can unlock it yourself. To do nandroid backup you need custom recovery. To get custom recovery you need unlocked bootloader.
Helium, by ClockWorkMod, will do what you want, I think, and doesn't require root (although it will use it if available). It's in the Google Play Store. I'm not sure what the down side of rooting is, though.

Hi.
Had the same problem as you until i unlocked, i did a full backup using this method.
http://omegavesko.github.io/SimpleADBBackup/
With this method you don't have to unlock or root for just making a backup, i am restoring my backup from before unlocking and rooting as i write this so i hope it did its job.
The backupfile was 8 gb so it must have produced something
I will give you a report as soon as it have restored everything.
Best regards
Mackis

Ok, so the backup was rolling during the night, but i can warn others that my method described above did not work. Maybe i did something wrong but no pictures, no music and no apps did get restored after the backup.
The positive is that im now unlocked, rooted and installed twrp now checking for wich kernel and image to use, i have to read up a bit before next step.
Best regards

I don't know if this is a dumb question guys but i just want to know what is the best method or procedure to backup a phone? I mean if ever i may factory reset my phone and i want to backup my apps, phone settings, pictures, videos, files etc with just a single click or two, somewhat like that. Then restore everything with just a single click also. Thanks
A NANDroid Backup what requires Android is got rooted and ADB is successfully installed is the best method, IMO.
