Battery Drain after Dock replacement - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Transformer was fully charged this morning before I left for work and when I got home 10 hours later, it's dropped to 95% with the dock showing 97%
Wifi was on the whole time so this maybe what used up so much power.
I'm impressed, well done Asus. Anyone else who is thinking of RMA'ing their dock to get the Battery Saving mode activated should do so as it really does work.
fyi, turnaround in the UK was two weeks due to waiting for parts
afyi, my charging light is now orange instead of red.

So weird I have never had battery drain on my dock outside the normal drain, I even got one of the first bunch that came out
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk

I sent mine in over a week ago but when I check on the RMA status it is unable to find it. Customer service keeps telling me to just wait but I'm starting to get concerned. Is this normal? I sent it to the Grapevine center.

Mine took 5 days! Picked up Friday last week and returned Wednesday morning of this week. Battery drain when docked and sleeping is now negligible.
Regards,
Dave

I get the same use from my tab and new dock.

Mine took a week to show up in the system.

Sent mine to ASUS, waited 3 weeks, got it back, but it wasn't repaired at all. Maybe it's because my store sent it for me. Is there a webpage that let's you request a RMA, I don't want to call them.
Found it.

Portion of the touch screen is unresponsive sometimes!?

Hey Chaps,
Wondering if anyone has experienced this one before - my transformer is about 2 weeks old and I've just noticed in the last few days a funny 'unresponsiveness' of about 1 inch of the touch screen from the right hand side (this covers the "App, + , and Time " portion of the screen. no matter how many times I tap it just doesn't respond.
Heres the strange part, I flip the tablet 180 and i can close execute "Apps, +, and the Time" features no problems! Switching back also allows this to occur.
I'm totally baffled. At first I thought it may have been some software issue so I've tried the following:
- restart
- factory reset (twice),
- cold reboot
Still no go, I've downloaded a multitouch app and testing shows the same thing!
Cheers in advance for any assistance provided.
p.s firmware is 8.6.5.9 TW
Sent an email to ASUS to see if they will recommend anything.

excuse the heavy breathing & poor camera skills - i'm sick.
experienced the same thing. i bought my tf to an asus repair center, said there was another one with the same case as mine, making me the second. they said they fixed the first one by upgrading roms. i highly doubt that though, since i tried everything from reflashing stock to rooting to a custom rom.. everytime, there's still a weird unresponsiveness that randomly appears and disappears..
neilbantoc,
I think I nailed it down - I turned it off, and left it off last night. When I started it up this morning, it was all good - I was amazed as I thought it was gone. Then it came back after 5-10 mins after some surfing / games. What struck me that I never really put 2 and 2 together is the back plate of the affected area, it was hot!
I personally think it's an over heating issue and not a software issue. The seller said it was their first TF101 returned and they have sold many - guess we just lucky we got lousy ones?
I got an exchange today and no issues so far! Fingers crossed.
Got the same problem, tried different roms, kernals.etc, will send it back for exchange.
I had a similar thing - Try downloading a drawing app and drawing lines SLOWLY down the screen with a stylus (fingers are too fat).
This may reveal areas of touch screen which don't work at all.
For mine I had a line nearly an inch high level with the speakers running horizontally across the tablet.
If you have this, get an exchange - their repair of mine failed and made it worse, and it took a month, so IMO don't risk a repair.
Guys, I can confirm that the problem has gone away with the replacement. It was definitely a hardware related issue (I still think it's over heating )

Asus RMA?

I requested an rma on thursday. Today is tuesday and I have heard nothing from them but the automated response right away. In all my previous rma's from other companies they responded within 24 hours.
Is this normal? Should I request it again.

Ok I'll try to just call when I get off work. You don't have the number do you?
EDIT** I found it.
I requested my RMA last week and got the automated reply, but the real reply with the RMA came about 2 days later.
I was a bit surprised that it took that long just to reply with the RMA number, and wonder how long it might be for them to repair and send back the tablet to me.
I replied back to them asking about that, and no reply ever received since.
I'm a bit worried to send my tablet to them.
How long it took you guys to receive back your tablet that you sent in for RMA?
(I'm about to sent to the Texas Asus service center).
Dont remember where i read this, but someone had said it took a few weeks to get their unit back.
Im in the same boat. RMA charger that fried.
Im having tablet withdrawal symptoms. swiping at my laptop....

Do not forget to insure your postage. I went thru all hassles with TX facilities, starting with their report of damaged screen and lost parts. Do not forget to list everything you are going to send to TX.

Really? Sounds like a lot of problems. I have heard 2-3 weeks to get it back. They told me on the phone 10-14 business days.
I'm not really in a huge rush, I just hope they don't notice superuser on there. Even doing a full wipe won't take it off.
I sent mine to the TX asus facility (to insure it cost 30 bucks, but it was worth it) and I got it back in a little under a week. I called and got my RMA # about a half hour after calling (by email). Probably atypical, but my RMA experience was very pleasant

I didn't send my tablet - but rather my dock (B50), for the battery draining issue. They turned the repair around in 1 day if you can believe that. The real time was that they shipped it back FedEX ground, which took over a week from Texas to Minnesota... :-(

except they didn't fix the problem! The dock came back extremely clean, though. I thought they gave me a brand new one at first!
But I sent in an email, and got a new RMA number pretty quick. I'll be shipping it in tomorrow or Monday, I guess.

They shipped mine out the day after they received it (dead screen). It took me longer to get the RMA number from them.
You needed to unroot it and take it back to stock to get all traces of being rooted and having CWM on there. I did that and had no issues. It wasn't easy being that my screen was dead. The HDMI out saved me there. I was actually very pleased with the whole RMA process with them.

Haha. Just got my dock back yesterday and had to check the serial number to make sure it was mine. The mouse pad had no finger oil on it.
So far my experiences with the repair process has been pretty good. They must be getting better at takin' em apart and puttin' em back together.
Yay! My keyboard is working again. Typing sucks on the tablet itself.
I sent mine out yesterday. Still has superuser on there. I couldn't get it off. No usb meant I was limited on how I could flash it. Oh well fingers crossed.
Asus received my TF on 11-4. I just got the email that it has been shipped via fedex. A little strange though the tracking number they gave me is old and was from an item that was shipped from Miami to Asus back in June. Hopefully that was just a typo. Hoping to get it by friday. We'll see.
Tracking number got updated. It will be here on the 11th.
Just an update. Asus received my TF on 11-4. I got it back from them on 11-10. Very pleased. They fixed the usb. Also I could not update and was stuck on 3.0.1 after unrooting. Mentioned that it wouldn't update and they fixed that too now I'm on the newest FW. +1 for Asus. Also had superuser stuck on there which didn't cause any issues.

Nvflash removed all traces for me before RMA.
---------- Post added at 10:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:04 PM ----------
I've done two RMA's and have had both done quickly (less than 8 days back in my hands) and professionally. One was the notorious battery drain on dock and last was screen backlight replacement.
One thing I did was take several pictures as I packed the unit (date inserted on images) with a statement attached to the RMA paperwork that I had done so to avoid any CID (Customer Induced Damage). Worded in a way to relate it protected both me and Asus. Did it help? Dunno but I'm happy.

I couldn't do nvflash as my usb port was not working. No computer would detect the TF. I got insurance on mine. So I'm pretty sure once they sign for it they are saying it was fine. But pictures is a great idea as well.

[Q] ***HELP*** Transformer won't turn on.

My transformer will not turn on. I used it a couple days ago but don't remember if I fell asleep or powered down. I went to turn back on this morning but there is no response. If I plug in the charger I can see the light come on. Also if I hold the power button it will give a quick vibrate after about 10 seconds. Has anyone else had this problem?
Its rooted and unlocked. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance for your time.
I forgot to mention that there is nothing being displayed on the screen at anytime whatsoever...

Try cold booting it? Turn it off and then turn it on while holding the volume down button.
Try connecting it to your laptop, see if detects it???
Maybe its a software app thing?

Already tried both. Problem is, is that there is no way to see if the device is even powered on... The battery meter on the screen doesn't even show up when its plugged in/charging...
Wow....that sucks.
If your computer doesnt detect it, then idk what you could do.... cuz if it did, then you could try to use adb to try and restarting t.
It sucks that its unlocked or i would have said to just contact asus to get it replaced.
Other than that, its hard to say...sorry man.

Then tried the paper clip in the reset button by the hdmi input.
Then I tried both ideas again with the charger plugged in....
Frustrating. Unless someone has anymore ideas I may just try and send it in. Hopefully they cant tell if its been unlocked or not because nothing is being displayed..

You can't send to ASUS when you use unlock tool they get your S/N and save it in case something like this happens. The only way I can see around this would be if you bought it at a Best Buy. They maintain 1 year manufacturer warranties if you bought from them so you could feasibly take to geek squad/Customer service and say it just stopped working. They wouldn't have record that you unlocked the tab. You would most likely need the receipt or some confirmation you bought it there though. Good luck.
Sorry friend, seems like you are in real trouble. I had a very similar problem, my only solution was to exchange it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2203565
As you have unlocked yours, the warranty is no longer valid, and although Asus will fix it, you will have to pay to get it done. Since I'm on my second TF, and it even has had a problem that nearly bricked it, I am simply afraid to unlock it while still within the warranty period.
Might get lucky and see something with it connected to the HDMI port.

They did with my TF201 and this guys TF700 just a month ago http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240970
They took back my TF201 in August last year. I was told by BB it was done under the manufacturers warranty. It really does depend on who you talk to and how you approach them with the problem. Several people had to try different BB stores until they found that one person working there that either knew HOW to do it or was willing to take it back.
I had the same problem. Tried all the ideas mentioned above. I then put it on the charger for a day and afterwards it just booted like nothing had happened.

TF201 is a different tab and basically BB and asus came to an agreement to take them back. The guy in your link got lucky. Probably only got a trade because of the extreme nature of the defect. Fact is you cannot just go into BB and get a new tablet under mfg warranty.

Exactly.
Now for the good news. My tablet came back to life last night after 3 weeks of trying. It was totally dead and wouldn't even vibrate anymore. plugged it in and it actually tried to boot right away but then turned off. Let it charge for a few and tried again and it booted no problem. Battery % is now showing accurately and it has now been running fine for 12 hours.
My problem is I went out and got an HP envy x2 (win8) tab on saturday. Now to decide which to keep... I love the envy but the new quad cores are coming out this fall which should really make it a versatile little laptop. Just don't know if I can live with android now that I have a taste of full win 8.

Any updates? My TF700 stopped turning on as well. Same recovery efforts, now waiting on the battery to drain. I unlocked/rooted for cleanrom (faster/better). Worked fantastic till last thursday and it refused to turn on in my college class. This could signal my exit from Android even though I have a lot of money invested in apps.

Good to hear. Aside from the snappier response of cleanrom my biggest issue with the asus firmware was the waste of screen space on the home screen. It had like a 1" border all the way around that you can't put an icon in and that annoyed me the most of all. Been waiting the battery to go completely dead before I send it in just hoping that fixes it.

[Q] Replacing Dock Battery in T300

I need to replace the battery in the dock of my T300, but can NOT find one.
Sucker went completely flat - unknown to me - and when I started charging it orange blinking light, then solid, but only charge to about 10%, stays orange for days. That's my reason for thinking it's the battery.

I saw the thread, but I'm at a loss to figure out exactly what model dock I have so that I can match battery's.
The number on it: 15100-0304U100 KS - I'd like to not have to take it apart, order battery, put it back together, get battery, take apart etc.
sure, it's not fun to get it open to read the part number, but you have to deal width to not spend 80$ for nothing

Thanks, but is a T201 the ONLY K/B that will fit a TF300?
Curious even though I'm going to open mine - tried to charge it today and NO light - orange or otherwise - put the tablet on it and then both went orange.

Anyone know what is holding the halves together? I've got it apart to the touchpad - I can see what is hold that section together.

MAN the pins (nuts) are stuck IN!
Now that this is a part, anyone have an idea of where I can find the wiring diag of the battery so I can see if it's charged/dead/shorted - eliminate the charging circuit, which I actually think it is.
Just curious...... Is your dock over a year old? If not I would send it back and have Asus fix it under warranty.

From the date inside it is.
Even if it wasn't I wouldn't send it back to them - the last 2 times I've sent a Mobo and a tablet they claimed I broke it and wouldn't fix it.
Punks - I've been building these things since they were in large refrigerated rooms - long before they were born.
ASUS isn't the company they were 10 years ago.
ANYways, I took the battery out and popped the tablet in and plugged in power, the dock rapidly flashed orange, the tablet was solid orange but not charging - leads me to believe my third ASUS P/S went belly up.

Random shutdowns after battery change

Hey guys, I'm hoping someone can help me out here. 2 nights ago I opened up my sons Nexus 5 and changed the battery. I replaced it with a oem replacement that I found on Amazon. I put the phone back together and everything works fine, but he is suffering from random shutdowns. He says that he plays his phone throughout the day and every now and then when he pulls his phone out of his pocket it has powered off. He has to hold down the power button to restart the phone. Has anyone ever had this issue? Do I need to take the phone back apart? Help please!
Open the phone again to make sure everything inside is connected firm and correctly. Otherwise if you keep getting the issue after, you should probably send the battery back to the seller.
It is very difficult to find genuine batteries these days as this phone isn't manufactured anymore. Every battery being different in every phone these days. Planned obsolescence at it's best.

Yes, recheck the connections, but I strongly suspect defective battery, too. I don't know if this one is any better: https://lg.encompass.com/item/10389517/LG/EAC62078701/Rechargeable_Battery,lithium_Polymer. Probably more $ but not unreasonable. I believe I read shipping is about $8.
