1080p in 3d - LG Optimus 3D

Hi lads can anyone explain what is keeping the device from shooting 1080p in 3d?
Sent from my LG-P920 using XDA Premium App

It's the lgsoftware... the prozessor is able to prozess 1080p videos in 3d.
It's only a matter of time...
My optimus 3D wrote it with xda app

Isn't it a restriction of the current 3D? as it seems odd there is 3x 3D phones, this, evo and the sharp and they all only do 3D @ 720p and the Sharp has 8mb cameras in also and the 3D snaps are restricted @ 2mp .

I suspect that the restriction affords us some extra battery life because processing that amount of dadta will not only saturate rvery bus in the phone and fill the memory rapidly, it will also hammer the battery life.

According to TI we can't. The only thing that might give us hope is that our chipset can record 3d with both cameras at 5mp not just at 2 or 3mp as it is now.

Aha, only the 4460 supports 1080p 3D. This is probably due to the higher clock speed though of 1.5ghz so if we eventually can overclock it could maybe be done. That is making the assumption that these SOCs are "binned" similarly to regular desktop cpus where all 44xx are 4460s but the ****tier batches recieve the designation 4430 and are sold at a lower clock speed.

Can you really see that much difference between 1080p and 720p? Personally I don't think the rather tiny quality differences would be worth the increase in file size that the 1080 quality video would bring, not to mention the reduction in battery life.

only we really need the phone to do is to record at 1080p which it already does, but putting each lens information into each side of it, just like the 720p does.. its not really 2X 1080p that gets recorded. its one 1080p cut in two

I find it weird that all the 3d phones have dual >5mp camera's but cant shoot abve 3mp...this makes me think the evo3d and the sharp have a second 2mp camera instead of a 5. And the optimus 3d got a second 3mp camera.
Prove me wrong...no one did research on this matter as far as i am aware.

I definitely can see a difference between 720p and 1080p especially when I watch it on a large screen(>50inches) and about the battery - if you would need 720p and less battery drain you just could switch between two of them but it would be very handy to have 3d full hd camera in your pocket

If you cant tell the difference between 720 and 1080 you have eye problems and should get them looked at.

[Q] ICS to finaly bring HD video to Nexus S?

I love my Nexus S phone but it's almost the only Android phone being sold today without HD video. The camera's resolution should support 720p video (as the Galaxy S), and the problem is the lack of support for HD video by the native Android operating system.
Now, that the Galaxy Nexus will support 1080p video recording with a native Android, do you think the Nexus S will get it too?
No. our hardware is limited.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G
This is a question I am very interested in hearing the answer to as well. It would he nice to see HD video capabilities as well as the super fast shutter speed be provided by the OS to the Nexus S and not a hardware exclusive feature of the Galaxy Nexus.
It would also be nice if the update to ICS fixed the screen burn in on my phone caused by the notification bar.

Have you tried fast burst camera in the market? Just until we get ICS. Works very well
Not even 720p?
i recall the nexus s not getting 720p recording due to codecs
Nexus s is not doing 720p video. It is not a limatation with the os.
Search the forum if you want a detailed reason why.
Yes. Do a search. It is a hardware limitation, not software.
Nexus s camera sensor is different than galaxy s sensor because they needed the extra space in the phone casing for the NFC hardware in our phone. The sensors are physically differant. The pics are around here some where if you search for it. It shows both camera sensors to compare.

So that means the Nexus brand will always have a lesser camera
The Nexus One had a 5MP at launch with no HD video at launch.
The Nexus S still have a 5MP camera with no HD
No, the Galaxy Nexus still have a 5MP camera when everybody else use a 8MP camera.
I can't understand why google equip their flagship phones with relatively crappy cameras

Ahh you are falling foul of the MP myth dude, MPs are a size issue so unless you are printing posters then its not the MPs but the sensor too. You could have a 12mp camera with a ****ty sensor and an 8 mp with a good one and it will take the better picture. It is also dependent on the cameraman too of course.

Well... mom's netbook can't play 360p videos... and it has a 1.8GHz dualcore...(but it has no video card)
Say thanks you can run HQ YouTube... you need 1GHz CPU to run 720p videos, but this is with a good GPU (not a mobile one) and also nothing in background...
Oh and dual core 1.2GHz with mobile GPU can run 720p without problems (see Gnexus)

Don't think about it, even If you found a player which can run it and you overclock to 806, still you'll run it below 7-8 FPS, which means it will be too laggy and the worst thing is that you can't enjoy that video, use your computer to convert it to 480p

I don't like trolls on xda. I assumed kiranbandre was asking a legit question to what he didn't know. Again, because I assume people here don't troll those in need. So I explained that umangleekha was in fact referring to the same thing by "converting".

Thanks,
As we see that: http://sevencolourgossips.wordpress...um-coming-it-will-be-much-more-than-only-ics/ are horrible rumors grows on our dreaming and desires
Macro 3D IS HERE!!!
No flower icon but the ability to focus close up is MUCH MUCH better than before! As close as 8cm to get a "Green Square" & Beep to indicate a good focus lock has been acquired by the camera. But 3DSteroid helps a lot to bring the L&R images closer for better stereo viewing.
See my macro samples in 3D
The UI after you take a photo and see what you took is different too! BTW the say "Kimchi" shutter feature works
My blog on here
Cool!
I don't know why but your macro image doesn't exist on Phereo
What about another features?
"DSLR shot, ruler tag, manual focus, zooming while recording."
I tried 3D macro myself and I have to say that my P920 can focus from 7-8cm.
You can watch my sample of 3D macro on my phereo user "bether".
Unfortunately parallax is not so good and can't be real corected even by 3D Steroid Pro
For good 3D macro we have to use just 3D Steroid Pro. It have to be smaller stereo base than 24mm of LG 3D.
Photos must be made separately.

Phereo takes a while to update people's uploads before you can see them. I'm also uploading some fresh close-up macro photos of my cat's live face, since it something that would have been impossible with the O3D before now! (not even with 3DSteroid!). I suppose 7-8cm is the limit of the individual cameras. I should have done it before but can you try to measure the closest distance a picture you can get good focus lock in 3D mode with the native O3D camera before ICS? Check my Phereo page later to catch those when they are made available.
From the O3D feature list hinted at...
"update for Optimus 3d 3d feature (DSLR shot, ruler tag, 3d macro, manual focus, zooming while recording)."
The item I can genuinely confirm as available right now is the 3D macro improvement.
If the rest of those things are in this update, despite my looking for them, they seem very well hidden.
If I uncover anything else 3D related I'll let you guys know. What a nice surprise to have this ICS update today on 13th Oct 2012. I must say that I'm personally happy there are "some" changes for the good (even if it is not all that we were lead to believe) . I hope it's not too soon to proclaim good riddance to GB on the O3D .:fingers-crossed:
A non-3D general observation is that the screen switching, scrolling is very smooth with the ICS update... damn you eye-candy...
Yes, in android 2.3 O3D locks focus (green box) as 3D mode. Look my attachment.
But horrible parallax. New feature have to be made separately for left and right lens.
Realy I thought that would be 3D macro in stock camera like in 3D Steroid.
Anyway I'm jealous, you have ICS - I haven't

Gaming perfotmance should be nigh identical to then note 2014 which if you have read the forums you know chews through all the high end games out. With exception of a few that arent optimized yet. Its a bigger screen but in the end its pushing the same number of pixels so no difference. Actually might be better because of 4.4. Emulators also work very nicely and are my preference for gaming.

Unless resoultion changes there should be no difference, just as one should see no difference in frame rate when changing the size of monitor plugged into a PC as long as the monitors have the same resolution. The larger monitors simply have larger pixel sizes which in effect means they're the one doing the scaling for you, not the gpu. With similar hardware specs for both notes other than the display panel size one should expect the performance to be similar as well. Any variations in performance would likely be attributed to software improvements on the newer tablet.

That doesnt make any difference though. If the pixels are bigger (they shouldn't be) the gpu still sends the same number of signals and processess the same signals. It could be a 20 inch screen with the same overal pixel count and get the same performance. But anyways yes it rocks at gaming
