Eee Pad 3.2 keeps restarting itself in sleep mode (HELP!) - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
Just got a Eee Pad TF101 from Amazon and upgraded to 3.2 (OTA upgrade - stock ROM from Asus). Almost every time I put it into sleep mode, it would hard restart itself (reboot into the Asus logo).
Does anyone have this issue? This is seriously annoying. Would appreciate any help to fix or at least identify the cause of this.
Thanks!
Build: HTJ85B.US_epad-8.6.5.6-20110726

How about after trying a Factory Recovery without installing any apps? It still reboots when you press to sleep mode?

Does the same thing happen when the tablet naturally goes into sleep mode because of inactivity? If not, how are you putting it in sleep? It should take only a momentary push of the power button. Hold it down for too long and you reboot the unit.

Yep, tried that, and that doesn't help with the random reboot problem.

Both (inactivity and momentary push of the power button) would often (about 50% of the time, and you can imagine how frustrating it is) send the Eee Pad to sleep of death, and then it would reboot itself.

This is happening to me also. I'm just about ready return my eee pad.

It happens to me too. Doesn't matter what build or whether its 3.1 or 3.2. Very annoying

My first transformer unit has the same problem and tried everything but nothing sucesfull.
The other two units (the second has touch problems) not suffered that problem.

Had the same issue with my Transformer several times on 3.1 and also once on 3.2. Moved to Prime 1.7 and it seems to be gone

I have read on other forums that this maybe caused by a microSD card. Is everyone having this problem have a MicroSD card inserted into the slot?

RMA is the best route. It shouldnt be boot looping like this.

i had this problem, and got progressively worse...i had to RMA to get them to fix it...supposedly, they replaced my main board.

[Q] Asus transformer won't turn on :(

I've had it for about 3 weeks and I had it in its sleeve for a night then go to use it and it won't boot or anything.
Have tried charging it but nothing comes up what so ever.
Anyone else had this problem?
*edit*
Held power button for about 20 seconds then booted it. Booted up, sheesh I was worried !
Is this common? Does it seem hardware or software related?
Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds then wait five then try to turn it on

Yeah just did that but had to wait 5 minutes to edit my first post
Is it well known?
Just done it again...
It's known as the deep sleep issue. It's somewhat widespread yet no one knows what exactly causes it

Alright, so it's not a problem with my transformer?
We'll see what the updates bring aha
I've had mine 6-days, died twice now, refuses to power this time at all, tried all the above
Mine done the same thing. Watching a movie last night via HDMI with power supply plugged in, turned it off before I went to bed. Now it doesn't power on, tried everything above.
Please help
Note: Not rooted, stock
Oh my god, thanks for this. I just got my transformer today, and after I installed the update, it wouldn't start up. I held the power button down for about 10 seconds and it started up.
My TF won't turn on this morning.
I tried all the suggestions above but nothing work.
I don't think my TF is in a deep sleep mode because I turned it off last night before I went to bed. It's connected to the charger the hold night.
Any other suggestions?
How do I check to see if my TF's battery still has some juice in it? (Just want to eliminate the charger as a possible cause).
Update
Called ASUS.
They told me to try press power button 10 secs, release 2 secs, and press power button 10 secs. That didn't work.
I had to hard reset the tablet (Vol-, power)
my buddy's wont seem to turn on, tried all listed above and nothing from it at all.
tried charging through usb. any suggestions?
same problem here :/. Tried all of the suggestions. I'm desperate
..
Okay if your TF does not have the SOD then maybe your screen may be dead. Happen to me. See if you could connect yout tf to a tv via hdmi. If you are getting a picture then your tf screen is dead
I think the batterie is broke cause it bootet up right now but after the lock screen appeard the screen got black. But the Problem came so suddenly.
I have the same problem ( as detailed in my thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15475887#post15475887 ). I sent an email to ASUS, but have yet to hear back. Their support portal is terrible. The links for online chat support don't work in Chrome, Firefox or IE. I'm past the 30 day return window, anyone know the best way to contact asus about this? I'm pretty disappointed that this $400 device with no moving parts just seemed to fail (while I was using it). The worst part is, if I have to send it in, I have no way of wiping my data beforehand.
Try contacting the user "Asus_NA" (no quotes) via PM here on XDA.

Can't seem to find that username, any other contacts anyone can suggest?
Thank you thank you thank you for this thread I was just about to call asus. I'm glad I checked xda first saved me a lot of hassle. +1
don't forget to bring a towel!
did you find someone on here to contact?

[Q] My Asus transformer stuck at "Eee pad" screen after turning on :(

After I had to fully turning off my eee pad (by holding power key 10 sec) before the airplane taking off, now I when I turn to turn on pad, it only goes to the blank screen showing "Eee pad" and now moving forward to lock screen. I have tried to turn it on and off more numerous time, same still.
Anyone has any idea why?
Can you get into bootloader? Put the update one the storage card and try reflashing. I believe it is the "down volume" and "power".
Yes, I could get into bootloader by pressing down volumn + power, but neither recovery mode nor wipe data mode works, the screen will just sit there for a long time.
Do you know how to use adb? Can you get an "adb logcat"? Depending on the Asus logo shown, the kernel might already be up

It sounds like the same issue a few us with bricked devices had 3-4 weeks ago. Our only solution after personally talking to a tier 3 Asus technician was to RMA. Ours became bricked after running Asus' Firmware update though so it's strange that yours is stuck out of the box.
same thing happened to me today. I was able to wipe data and get it to boot. I'm downloading the new firmware. Hope that will help. I'd been getting 2-3 SOD every day on this one.
Update failed and it won't recognize a manual search ofr update. Any suggestions?

Mine was working fine for 3 weeks and I was happy, I was even able to update the firmware (through microSD card). I think it went dead on me when I had to completely power off without turning off the music player (at least that's what I thought) before the airplane took off. If that's true, this will be such a mess up.
Now after numerous fail attempts to get it to wipe data or recover and boot (nothing happened and screen is still stuck at boot), I gave up. I think I have to RMA to get it to repair it.

EEE Pad Screen stuck after Kernel flash

I think i bricked my tf101 :/
was running with revolver 4.1.1 and the flashed Harmony RC2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1693799).
After a reboot from CWR i stuck at the EEE Pad Screen.
It seems that my tf101 dosent react to the physical buttons anymore.
(Cant force shut it down, held the power button for more than 1 min)
Waited 3x Times for the battery to die to get into recovery or APEX mode, but i only see the eee pad screen after connecting to the PC.
What to do? :/
Can you not hold the power button to get the screen to turn off? If so, when it goes off, hold the Vol Down and Power, then let go and push Vol up when you see writing on the top, that will get you into CWR. Um, if not maybe hold Vol Up and Power to get into APX mode.
Mabye your button is going bad/bad, try jamming a pen into it or something of the like, but there's not much to do if you can't turn it on/off.
if you can get back in to cwr then try the harmony 3g kernel (link in my signature)
i pulled the wifi only of the new rev2 build as the "stuck at boot" issue was worse than before and have informed the dev.
it should not have affected your tf's buttons in any way though - seems like a hardware issue.
thanks for the input, but my TF self healed over night ..
after the 5th death-trough-battery-drain-at-eeepad-screen it turned on after plugging the power in today (never did befor with the issue).
Rebootet 3 times to eee pad screen and finnally into ICS.

Keyboard causing tablet to shutdown?

Is anyone having issues with the keyboard causing the tablet to turn off? It's not doing it while I'm using it just when I close it the tablet turns completely off sometimes. I've had the tablet for several weeks and had no issues but just got the keyboard a few days ago and now it has random shutdowns. Example: On break at work I closed my tablet and walked approximately 50ft to my workstation opened it back up to plug in the speakers to listen to Pandora and the tablet was off, not like stuck in sleep mode but completely off had to hold power for 1-2 secs it vibrated and thee boot logo came up. Would like to know if I should contact Asus or if it might just be a bug in the ROM.

Happens to me sometimes, too.
Happens all the time here.
There is a thread about it.
No solution so far.
I have returned my tablet 3 times to my reseller (it's currently in their hands), who RMAed it to Asus once. I have no info about what they've done.
After the last RMA, it took 2 days before the trouble occurred again and it usually occurred after a 10-15mn sleep. After a few days it occurred instantly.
Tablet is full stock, wiped again and again, reflashed, whatever. Full charge, middle charge is the same.
I do hope for a replacement this time.

That's a different problem, I was having having that issue when i was running earlier versions of CleanROM but since the 3.1 update I haven't had that issue. That issue the tablet is frozen or stuck in sleep my issue is the tablet is off completely. But there are are others in that thread posting about having issues similar to mine.

I think the shutdown may caused by a few issues, no don't considered every shutdown is the same. One maybe hardware, one maybe hardware. I suggest to try everything before you ship it back. In my case, I removed my keyboard dock and charge it over night BY ITSELF, then charge your tablet also by itself, put them together then I do a factory reset, then re flash a full Asus firmware. After that I never seen this issue again.
I'll try that when I get the chance but I turned the power save setting for the keyboard on and it stopped shutting down.

I've had my keyboard for a few weeks now. I shut the keyboard and open all the time. I have it so I can wake the tablet with the keyboard. Never had the tablet shutdown by itself. I'm stock, rooted and locked.

Restart after putting into sleep

My tablet would sometimes not turn back on after putting it into sleep. I would have to hold the power button for about 10 seconds until the tablet restarts. It doesn't bother me much when I'm not doing anything important, but it gets really annoying when I'm about to take notes in class and the boot time for this device is quite long. Is there a fix for this? I'm on complete stock with locked boot loader.

Its called a "Sleep of Death" i think. Since you are on stock, its probably caused by an app you installed, so you would have to play around to see which.
Or get an app called "Wakelock" from Play store, but it will decrease battery life
Thanks for giving me the terms. I'll look more into that.
And I got a reply from ASUS support saying there will be an OTA update in April/May. Hopefully that could fix the issue if this is a common issue.
