[Q] My Asus transformer stuck at "Eee pad" screen after turning on :( - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After I had to fully turning off my eee pad (by holding power key 10 sec) before the airplane taking off, now I when I turn to turn on pad, it only goes to the blank screen showing "Eee pad" and now moving forward to lock screen. I have tried to turn it on and off more numerous time, same still.
Anyone has any idea why?

Can you get into bootloader? Put the update one the storage card and try reflashing. I believe it is the "down volume" and "power".

Yes, I could get into bootloader by pressing down volumn + power, but neither recovery mode nor wipe data mode works, the screen will just sit there for a long time.

Do you know how to use adb? Can you get an "adb logcat"? Depending on the Asus logo shown, the kernel might already be up

It sounds like the same issue a few us with bricked devices had 3-4 weeks ago. Our only solution after personally talking to a tier 3 Asus technician was to RMA. Ours became bricked after running Asus' Firmware update though so it's strange that yours is stuck out of the box.

same thing happened to me today. I was able to wipe data and get it to boot. I'm downloading the new firmware. Hope that will help. I'd been getting 2-3 SOD every day on this one.

Update failed and it won't recognize a manual search ofr update. Any suggestions?

Mine was working fine for 3 weeks and I was happy, I was even able to update the firmware (through microSD card). I think it went dead on me when I had to completely power off without turning off the music player (at least that's what I thought) before the airplane took off. If that's true, this will be such a mess up.
Now after numerous fail attempts to get it to wipe data or recover and boot (nothing happened and screen is still stuck at boot), I gave up. I think I have to RMA to get it to repair it.

[Q] Transformer not powering on?

Hey, I got my transformer yesterday, and for some reason this is the 2nd time this has happened, fully charged battery, but the device won't power on. Attempted to plug into power but no dice. Held the power button for 30 seconds, nothing, held the power and volume up and nothing. Yesterday when this happened I plugged it into my computer (Windows) and held the power and up buttons and it turned on though it could have been windows detecting the drivers. Anyone else having this? Any suggestions? I haven't had a chance to test again and see if I can bring it back through that trick yet, but I will. Then I'll try a factory reset and see if it resolves the issue. I would hate it if this is a defective unit, that's for sure esp since they are so backordered. Outside of that I love the device.

when your device isnt coming on, does your computer give you a usb notification? You could be putting it in apx mode on accident.

I will find out in a few. The thing is this has happened when I left the device unplugged and in sleep when driving to/from work. Yesterday plugging it back into the computer brought it to life. Nothing else did. Not sure what apx mode is even.

EDIT: Ok, turns out it get stuck in some weird power mode. I plugged it into the computer with no resolution, when I held the power button for 10 seconds, then waited 5 and pressed it again, the device powered on. I suspect it might be an issue involving detecting WiFi access points when driving or something else. I'll Factory Restore and see what happens.
try turning off screen lock.

I had that sometimes in the first day I had it, after that it hasn't happened. No factory reset, just make sure to do a hard shutdown (powerbutton 10 sec~) while it's booted and it should fix the issue.

Yea, it had happened once already, and again. I'll be testing today when I leave work, factory reset and see what happens. Should it continue, I'll go to the next step. I'm just not sure what it is. Interesting bug to say the least.

I still don't really know what APX mode is, from the limited things I have seen about it, in order to get into such, the device has to be powered off first. As far as I can tell, my device isn't randomly powering itself off and automatically going into APX mode. This happens without me touching the device. When I did the power off and on today, it wasn't plugged into the computer at all. There was no recognition from the computer that the device was plugged in.
Well as of today, my EEE Transformer is dead. Will not power on the screen, Asus offers a repair of 14 business days, unacceptable.
Powering on issue
Woah...I was scared to death when mine didn't turn on the next morning that I got the device. Charged it for an hour and try to turn on again, nothing.
Holding the buttons several different ways that I know how to reset it didn't work. Finally I held the button down for more than 10 seconds. Wait a few seconds, then it powered on. Why didn't they make a hard reset since you can't remove battery!??? Hope this is just some fluke and could be updated with firmware.

Alas, mine didn't get resolved with that, computer detects it now, but no screen response. Asus tells me 14 business days to fix then says try to restore it with the Kernel Source Code. Unfortunately I can't see a way to do such from the folder and they decided to disconnect me.
There is a bug with the default lock screen that makes it so the screen doesnt power on occasionally. In order to work around this you need to disable the lock screen in the settings, or change it from the default one.
Obviously in order to do this initially it needs to be powered on and so you can see it. Therein lies your problem of course. To get around this, charge up your device so you know it has power, use the force power off method (10-12 second press of the power button), wait a few seconds (30+), then power on the device normally (5-6 second press of the power button).
If your screen doesnt come on after that, try a couple more times. It really is an RMA job if it continues to fail. If it does come on, let it boot up to the lock screen, and dont let the screen go off, keep it 'alive', unlock the device and change the lock screen in the options, to either be switched off, or to anything other than default.
This wont work for everyone, as obviously a few may actually have duff screens, but for some of you, it may just be the lock screen bug you are getting unlucky with.
Yea, I seem to have not only the lock screen bug but a defective screen. Unacceptable to me, but hey, what can I do? I've been disconnected 5 times so far, waiting on a manager and will be requesting a faster resolution than what they are offering me. (10-14 Business days is unacceptable)

i am in the same boat as you, luckly i picked up the acer for the weekend because i didnt think i was going to get the asus. glad i did
I'm waiting on hold with Asus to see if they will do an Advance Repair, basically I get put on the line for the full price of the device until they declare mine broken since the return period on the Acer is 14 days at best buy. Quite outside of the repair period.

Had to escalate it up to management and expressed I wanted an advance repair and was willing to give them my credit card number so they could place a hold on the card for the amount of a replacement until they got mine. Has to be escalated above the rep should hear back in a couple hours. If not I have an extension and will call back

[Q] Transformer Dead?

Hi, a few days ago I bought the tablet, and the keyboard dock station.
Yesterday, I had it on stand by (or sleep mode, don´t know the difference) with the keyboard and then I wanted to use it but it seems dead. I charged it all the night, but it doesn´t starts.
It doesn´t show the asus´s logo.
I'm desperate.
Thanks in advance, Nico.
Same problem here
I ran into the same problem about a week and a half ago. Was using it a bunch with the keyboard and then I couldn't turn it on again. I was able to get it to come when it was off the keyboard by plugging in the power cable. However, when it was on I couldn't get the shut down dialog to come up, holding the power button in would only cause the screen to black out.
I e-mailed ASUS and they suggested I reset it back to factory. Still had the problem. It is currently in repair status at their RMA facility.
My first guess was that it was software related, since other android devices seem to have similar problems, for time to time. However, on a couple of occasions if I pressed the power button in a certain way the unit would turn on or I could get the shut down dialog to show up. I could never get the button to work consistantly, so I sent it in.
For folks who are interested: The tablet was non-rooted or ROM'd. Had 3.1 and the keyboard was running the software update that came with 3.1. The tablet was 40 series based on the serial number. It had been working fine for about a month.
Henry
I've seen this lots on Tegra devices.
Solution: NVFlash another custom recovery.
This even happened to me. During a bad flash that locked up, I pulled the battery and it wouldn't even power on. Nothing. No Bootlogo or anything.
NVFlash mode would still register the device when connected. So I NVFlashed between Stock and Clockwork Mod back and forth (this on my LG G2x)... trying to boot it up in between flashes...
Eventually it booted up and I was able to get into Recovery, where I did a factory reset and flashed a known good rom. All has been well since.
How can I reset it?
I have to try the most possible things to repair it, becouse it isn´t simple to me to send it to RMA, becouse I´m from Uruguay.
I can to power it on! The battery looks in 81%.
What you recommend to do now? Quickly please!,
I do not know how long you'll be able to take on.
How can i reboot it or dont know?
Android Version 3.01
*Edit: Just actualized to 3.1
Hold the power button for 15 seconds until the screen goes off then power it up normally and see if it'll come on. I was thinking maybe it's the Sleep of death bug...

[Q] Stock 4.2.1 Cannot Hard Reset

I have a TF700 running the latest US stock ROM, 4.2.1 I believe. This unit is not rooted or unlocked.
The last few weeks it has been rebooting randomly. In the last day it would boot loop unless I did not plug it into the keyboard dock.
I did a hard reset yesterday using the power and volume down buttons and then it was working better. I did freeze some apps once I got it up.
Today it was dead and quite hot near the top left. I charged it and tried to boot it, but it would not boot. The "Inspiring Innoovation Persistent Perfection" screen appears for a few seconds then disappears.
I was able to get to the menu using the power and volume down buttons and select to wipe it, but again the "Inspiring Innoovation Persistent Perfection" screen appears for a few seconds then disappeared. It is not a boot loop. The unit remains dark after this. I have noticed that after I do this then the tablet appears to be on even though nothing is showing because it gets quite hot at the upper left corner.
Every once in a while when I go through this procedure then the screen turns white or pink at the end instead of going dark.
I have tried to reboot again with the power and down buttons pressed but now I never get the menu to select to wipe the unit. I put the latest US ROM on a fat32 microsd and renamed it to the right file name, but I am not able to ever get the menu where I can select to install it. And yes, I did unzip it, before renaming the resulting zip file.
I have tried power/Volume Down, Power/Volume Up, just power and other combinations, but have not been able to get the menu where I can select to wipe the system or install the rom.
Any idea how to recover the tablet?
Thanks.
Are you still under warranty? I truly hope so.
Because I think this baby is dead!
I am out of warranty.
Is there any way to connect this to a pc and try to reset it remotely?

Being locked you have very few options anyway....
But if you cannot boot to the bootloader (power and volume down), you also cannot access your recovery anymore. And without that there is nothing you can do short of buying a new or used mainboard.
Sorry.....
Asus told me minimum cost to fix would be $ 233 for a new motherboard and at least $ 50 labor. At Woot.com they periodically sell the TF700 refurbished for $ 249 without the keyboard, so it was cheaper to buy one of those. They also have it for $ 299 with keyboard. They are selling these right now until January 20th.

[Q] RAZR XT890 stuck in Motorola/Intel logo

Hello guys.
About an hour ago, I tried to access my WiFi configs, and realized it would take me back to the start screen. So I rebooted my phone. The thing is, it is now stuck in the big red Motorola/Intel logo, and keeps looping.
If I try to turn it off by using the Power button, it doesn't work. If I try to reset using Power + Vol Down, it just restarts the loop. I can't get into recovery mode, because it won't turn off.
I really don't know what to do. My phone is still trying to boot for the past hour, and I really need it, asap.
It is running Android 4.1.2. No root. As stock as it gets.
Any advice, guys? Please

I have the exact same problem.
My phone (non rooted, stock Android) has been freezing quite a lot for the past 1 or 2 weeks. Sometimes rebooting on its own, sometimes I had to force it. This afternoon it froze again and I had to force reboot, where it started freezing at the Motorola logo. I cant go any further since rebooting just makes it loop that way.
I waited for the battery to deplete so my phone eventually turned off, charged it back at around 60% and tried to go into recovery mode with power+volume up+volume down. Same results. I don't think I could have failed the recovery mode procedure because I had practiced and knew I would only get 1 chance of succeeding.
Anyone has experience with this ?
I will see if Motorola or my retailer will repair/replace it for free under warranty terms, otherwise I will try opening it up for some cleaning and maybe further attempts with control over the battery.

Well, Motorola did repair my phone for free, but I live in Brazil. It took them 1 day to repair. They say that part of the circuit board was damaged, but I don't know what could be the cause. Maybe overheat? I don't know about your phone, but mine would get up to 50ºC while using Skype.

Bootlooping contantly - Think i have a bad eMMC

My wife's Nexus 5 seems to have self-destructed...
I will randomly reboot, even in recovery & bootloader. then just cycle for a while, constantly showing the google screen, then black, then google again. Sometimes it'll boot, but then reboot within a few minutes and it all starts again.
The device is just out of warranty.
This started randomly, not after flashing a rom or anything. at first, it seemed like a rom issue, it was only rebooting every few hours, and hadn't in recovery or bootloader. So i rebooted in recovery and reflashed the same rom (Mahdi kitkat final). As soon as it finished flashing, it rebooted on it's own. The issue has gotten much worse now. It won't stay in fastboot for more than 1 second, and it won't boot into recovery (both via holding down buttons).
I think the phone's probably dead, and I've ordered a oneplus one for me (wife will get my hand-me-down nexus 5. Domino effect!). Does anyone have any ideas? or think they can fix it? i'll send it to you.
Thanks for reading!
It's a bad power button. Almost guaranteed. It would not be software if it happens in all modes.
Not too expensive to get fixed really.
Dead eMMC: fastboot oem lock, rebooting then it goes back to being unlocked
Broken power button: reboots without touching power button, even in bootloader
Really?!? WOW!
That kind of makes sense...
is it the physical button you push, or the clicker in the phone?
A quick google search didn't find any replacement power buttons. Any Ideas?
Thanks for the insight!

My nexus 5 had the power button issue which caused it to reboot randomly and also caused wifi to stuck at "turning on wifi". Was going to use my credit card extended warranty to cover the cost since it was out of warranty, but LG fixed it pro bono. called google nexus hotline and they will get LG online for you. Good luck.
I got a bad emmc, is there a script available for the nexus 5 to reparation it. Its already dead so i don't mind testing anything.
