I've been looking around for a thread or guide showing how to use this feature in SetCPU but I can't find one. Can anyone help me undervolt my Nexus S or at least help me understand how this works? So I can save a bit more of battery life on my Nexus S.
use that https://market.android.com/details?id=com.jonathongrigg.proton.voltagecontrol&feature=search_result
its easier and faster
Thank you it worked great, my battery lasted a bit longer now.

Pretty simple. What is the best rom with battery life for this phone? I rooted my girlfriend's phone and right now she's running cyanogenmod. Battery life doesn't seem that great though. Any suggestions on something to try out?

ScaryStable Kernel, Scary Governor, 200mhz min 1600mhz max.
Review this thread as well:

Also recalibrate your battery using battery left from the market.
Thanks. I'm an idiot. I meant to ask this for the evo 4g supersonic. I posted in the wrong section.

So ill admit.
I am an advanced and knowledgeable noob.
And I am very capable of soft bricking and fixing my own problems usually
But the only thing iI haven't learned.
Is kernel management.
I don't understand VERY WELL how to tweak setcpu
To extend battery life and maintain good performance.
I use profiles to underclock while screens off.
While battery is low, and while charging.
But I don't get what the voltages option menu is about...
So I was searching a "how to" tutorial on the process and terms and what not.
And found one that was as useless as an ass hole on an an elbow. (Kill bill joke)
Anyhelp?

Dont use setcpu...use nstools from market and it is free..
Nexus s custom kernel will usually will drain morr battery if you use profile..
If you want to get stability, good battery life,my advise is...flash custom kernel(ex. Matr1x) dont UV, use gov lazy or ondemand, minfreq 400mhz,maxfreq 1000.dont use profile..for now just disable deep idle...believe me..after 3 battery cycle.
You will get good battery life...

How do you enable deep idle? I thought that was a set by default thing?

Just use Matrix kernel and you wont have to worry a thing, definately gave me good battery life. Good luck
Hello i flashed Pete Alfonso nightly of ICS the most current and i was just wondering what kernel I should use cause i unplug my phone and the damn thing is sucking juice like my 3 year old child...
I see posting of people using ones that's giving like nearly 20 hours in a day here if not more and would like advice on something like that
Maybe also like help with what settings in my phone should have on or off too help the phone last longer...
Thank you kindly and have a great day...

Hi.
I think that if you want so good batterylife as possible, it all depends on what ROM and kernel you are using together.
In my opinion Matr1x and GlaDOS 2.9 are probably the best, and you should try one of them, or why not try one for a week, then try the other and then deside.

Deside should be with a c.... DECIDE!!
No, just kidding, but it is with a c. I think you're totally right! I prefer Matr1x, but GlaDOS belongs to one of the best kernels as well!

Thank you very much as I will try one up and see where it takes me too... Now with said kernels what settings are optimal for long lasting as I'm not all sure due to being slightly new to it

Ok so just flashed the current matr1x kernel and now as settings go what governor and cpu setting should I use for best battery life
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
I set cpu at 100 min, and max 800... And governor at lazy... I unplugged at 12 noon and its 1:37 and im at 79% is this normal...
As I only check xda 3 times and facebook once and email a few time and texting between 2 people and a 20 minute call...

I'm very surprised at this, given Pete's propensity to tweak the baked in kernel dramatically to improve both performance and battery life. I'm getting great results of both using his kernel.
Saying that, Steve Garon's plays very nicely with Pete's ROM. Either leave ondemand and deadline scheduler.
Matr1x is also very good. Same there, or use lazy for decent battery life.
As for what settings. It totally depends what you have going. If you got 25 different news widgets sucking data like there's no tomorrow, then yes, you;re going to see crappy battery life. Tell us what you;ve got going on and we'll try and help.
Well I just turned sync off most Google stuff aside from Gmail and twitter sync is off and other stuff I am not all sure what is and isn't off or on
I can almost sit back and watch my battery tick down ward
Is there like maybe an extended battery aside from the one in box can buy to assist n more juice

So I have a noob question. I downloaded CPU master and did an over clock for performance but my phone is essentially stock still. Will the 1512 make much of a difference?
I forgot to do a an Tutu check before it. My stats are below. For the best my mind can remember it is a tad bit better.

wrong section, and you can't overclock with the stock kernel.
It will yeah when you're running a lot of apps at the same time or doing something that requires a lot of CPU. It will also drain your battery a lot faster.

1512 is the stock clock speed.
I've recently rooted my galaxy nexus to load jelly bean 4.1.1. I was wondering if anyone has boosted the Cpu clock to speed up there phone. What are your thoughts on this?
Any help would be great
Thanks...

...are you serious? I'd give you an answer, but it's way too damn easy to find out for yourself that I'm gonna let you do that. I believe in you!
timano
Sure it is possible, but why? With JB and a nice kernel mine is so damn fast I just want to slow it down a bit and enjoy the battery.
I know how to do it.. It's really easy! I'm over clocking now...
My question is for those who have bump up there speed, have you notice a big difference in performance, battery drain, or your phone running a little warmer when using it quite a bit..
Those of us who have a galaxy Nexus know that battery life sucks! And performance can be questionable at times. I was just looking for opinions on the pros and cons of over clocking from people who have been running it longer than me...

It strikes me as a bad idea. My Samsung Galaxy Nexus cdma phone gets plenty hot and sucks plenty of juice without overclocking, even though I keep LTE turned off. It's also a very snappy (and stable) performer with stock 4.04.
Every chip is different, so you're going to find that your experiences might not necessarily be like ours. Some folks have OCed to 1.8ghz for the hell of it, whereas I could pull off no where near that with mine. That being said, I've stopped overclocking altogether as, especially with jellybean, my phone is already pretty damn fast.
I appreciate all your input. I'll probably set it back to interactive and back to a cap of 1200.. I've just noticed now that I have my JB all set up. I've found it to be a little chunky at times. Going into Google now, and some times using the voice input..
I'm surrounded by ios lovers and I'm a huge Android guy and I really want to show them up with the performance of JB, so I don't have to hear them ***** about how chunky android can be..
I'm sure it all has to do with the JB build I I've loaded..
Again thank you for your time..
