Hi.
I think that if you want so good batterylife as possible, it all depends on what ROM and kernel you are using together.
In my opinion Matr1x and GlaDOS 2.9 are probably the best, and you should try one of them, or why not try one for a week, then try the other and then deside.

Deside should be with a c.... DECIDE!!
No, just kidding, but it is with a c. I think you're totally right! I prefer Matr1x, but GlaDOS belongs to one of the best kernels as well!

I set cpu at 100 min, and max 800... And governor at lazy... I unplugged at 12 noon and its 1:37 and im at 79% is this normal...
As I only check xda 3 times and facebook once and email a few time and texting between 2 people and a 20 minute call...

I'm very surprised at this, given Pete's propensity to tweak the baked in kernel dramatically to improve both performance and battery life. I'm getting great results of both using his kernel.
Saying that, Steve Garon's plays very nicely with Pete's ROM. Either leave ondemand and deadline scheduler.
Matr1x is also very good. Same there, or use lazy for decent battery life.
As for what settings. It totally depends what you have going. If you got 25 different news widgets sucking data like there's no tomorrow, then yes, you;re going to see crappy battery life. Tell us what you;ve got going on and we'll try and help.

Well I just turned sync off most Google stuff aside from Gmail and twitter sync is off and other stuff I am not all sure what is and isn't off or on
I can almost sit back and watch my battery tick down ward
Is there like maybe an extended battery aside from the one in box can buy to assist n more juice

[Q] Best Kernel Out

What is the best kernel out so far as in performance and battery life.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
That's not an easy question to answer as it all comes down to personal preference. I've tried a few so far and Lee's is suiting my needs so far.

I have the same questions and since it has been a while I figure more people have more input.
I keep hearing about TPC Stock ROM Optimized with Buzz OC.UV Kernel?
I am a total newb, but I really just want as few deviations from the stock as possible but unlocked, somewhat overclocked when I am working, extreme underclock on idle, and remove the bloatware.
What have you guys found?
Try Ingersoll.
On the AOSP side LordMod from the DHD section is awesome. That won't help you if you're using a Sense ROM, though.
CM7 Inspire 4G
Lordmod on cm7.
how do you know which one to use?
BFS vs. CFS

If you notice, just about everyone gave you a different answer. There is no best rom. generally speaking, batt life is determined by clock speed and usage. plus each rom is a little unique. Just try out different roms and see what you think.

Yup... this is how I test ROMs. If they make it past 250 hours, then they are worthy. To this day, I have only had one ROM do this, and that was on my G1. It was the TMUS rom by amazinglarry311. Di11s ROM so far is going to be the second, by the looks of it.
I run Cache Cleaner NG once every other day, tho it's really not needed that often.
Still have over 211mb free when using Advanced Task Killer, and no lags.
Battery life is from about 8:30am til just after midnight. In this time frame, the lowest I've gone is 22%. Average of 225 texts a day, maybe 3 phone calls, music ALL day at work (not streaming), and check FB every 2 hours or so. Along with the occasional email here and there.
I can't imagine sending 225 text messages in one day.

[Q] Kernel/Tweak suggestions for a new(ish) Android/Nexus S user?

Hello there
I recently purchased a Nexus S, it's soooo good to be on Android, I love it!
So I've played around with some ROMs and I've settled on MIUI, I absolutely love the menu scheme and a few other features.
I've done some reading up on different kernels and ROMs for the Nexus S and I'm finding it hard deciding what to go for.
Of course, I know, it's all down to me, my personal preference and what I use my phone for, but, I was wondering if you guys wouldn't mind suggesting a few things?
I'd like to stick on a MIUI based ROM at least (mainly for the menu scheme), and of course I want what everyone wants; decent battery life, decent performance, nice and solid.
So, what d'you reckon in regard to different kernels and ROM mixes?
Thanks very much for your time, any help is greatly appreciated
Matr1x!!!

well well , i am in the same situation as you are , that don't know which rom and kernel to choose
i was using stock + talon 3.2.1 kernel , it's damn good
i am now using Brainmaster's MIUI , it's good as well , but as we all know , MIUI is kinda like battery killer ... so i need a good kernel to make battery lasts as longer as possible
currently i am using Franco kernel feel little lag , perhaps it's because i may set wrong governor ...
i also heard Lucid and Matrix lasts pretty long battery life , so i am planning using franco for next few days and then flash other kernel to see if it's true.
but one thing for sure , if you wanna have battery last as long as possible , then stock would be your first choice , personal experience more stock = more battery life

Funny you should say that Mathkid! I'm using Matr1x right now, thoroughly impressed with the performance so far! I'll use it over the next week or so and see how I do, but this is promising results already Do you have any recommendations for tweaks or anything I should be setting to coincide with your kernel? I haven't OC'd or anything
Thanks very much for the feedback qtwrk! Good to hear someone else in in the same boat but is doing a bit more about it! I need to be a bit more adventurous
Qt I would go either ondemand, smartassv2, or lazy... for me, lazy seems to offer the best battery life with a retention of snappiness... but you can't go wrong with any of em
Eternal maybe ezekeels mods? Just be careful tho, because deep idle can be a bit of a bugger sometimes....
In addition try using 1.2 or 1.3 ghz
Please feel free to post in the matrix thread if you have any questions!!

Sweet lord.... (for lack of a better term)
This is f****ing amazing!
Using MIUI with Matr1x v9.0 CFS with the lazy governor:
I've been up and had my phone off charge from 5:30am (yes, I know, work is an evil, evil thing) It's now 4:32pm and I'm on 89% battery!?
I may have been at work all day... but that doesn't mean I haven't been using my phone! In fact I was using it nearly all day!
The craziest thing is... I have it OC'd to 1.3GHz, snappy as ever, in fact I don't think I've used a faster phone?
Okay... so there's a little something; I've had data and wifi turned off (I'll just turn 'em on for when I need 'em) and I'm using JuiceDefender Ultimate to help out, but, this proves as a suuuuper nice setup for performance and battery life.
Absolutely astonished, I know it's only been one day, but, if nothing changes, I think I'll be sticking with this as my setup for the foreseeable future
Excellent work Mathkid! I'll be posting screenshots of my future setups to my DeviantArt page: eternalkernel.deviantart.com in the future and I'll be sure to mention my setup and give you praise. People are always curious about the innards of the phone, not just how it looks, so that should help spread the word a bit more about your awesome work.
Thanks again Mathkid, keep it up!
For the best overall performance and battery life, definitely try the Matr1x kernel..
If you want some more battery life, but less performance, try the franco.Kernel
If you still want more battery life, then give Morfic's TEUV kernel a try.

Terrible battery life help

Hey xda, Ive got this rarely used g2x. Don't even got a simcard for mainly using it for fun I guess but I am gonna get it in service soon. Thing is I am getting terrible battery life on all recent roms, eb gb and ics and Hellfire gb and ics, I got stock battery, even with kernals my battery's terrible, looking for reccomended roms and kernals and any tricks/mods to improve battery life, and remember this is even without any data usage and am still getting this amount of battery life.

Should I use Hellfire or eb gb, I've heard that eb is better but hellfire's gb was updated more recently, and which suggested kernal to go with it. I understand that it all depends in your phone but what in.your experience / opinion is the best combo.

The rom I'm using right now is Eaglesblood build 2.8 which is GB 2.3.7. I get pretty decent battery life just using the kernal that is built into it normally. I was having a few problems with HFP 2.1 so I switched to this and haven't looked back. Even though it isn't the most recent I still feel like its the best, just my opinion though.
I have got the best battery life so far with Eagles blood GB as well. HFS v1.5 is giving me ok battery life but EGB gave me double time as this ROM

Try them out, read the threads to see common issues and things that work well. Stop asking everyone here to do that little bit of work for you.
XDA is not your personal slave, we should not, and will not spoon feed you. Look around, spend more then 2 minutes looking at the first post. If you put in a good effort, people will be willing to help you, but just constantly asking for which ROM is just lazy.
You did not answer the question of whether you put the phone in airplane mode, you have not said any of the ROMs you've tried (other than all of them, which I doubt). At least pretend to give a ****...
Search!!!! there are tons of threads on how to increase battery life

? I don't think you give a **** because if you read my post you would of known that I'd have tried eb ics and gb, and hellfire ics and gb rom, and i've actually spent hours reading pages in the roms topic and other places, and I forgot to answer that question, my answer is no I don't even have a simcard in the phone for it to be searching for service and enabling it would stop wifi which is what I do use.
You can put the phone into Airplane mode and then enable WiFi. Even though you don't have a Sim install it can still try to search for a network and drain the battery. It will need a network without a Sim to be able to call 911 if needed.

I don't think its necessarily the stock kernal. It's the one that is built in to Eaglesblood GB. Also try to follow this guide, it seemed to help my battery life. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054420 I did get around 30 hours on that charge but it varies quite a bit depending on usage. I always get a full day of moderate use though. Try switching to Eaglesblood GB and follow that guide to 20 hour battery life and see if it helps. If not, your battery could just be old/bad. Hope this helps!
Yeah i tried the eaglesblood rom and wasn't too impressed. Im sure that it was good for performance, however i immediately missed the customization with cm7 (adw launcher) and the themes that came with it. after i have flashed the faux123 kernel on here with cm7, im happy to say my battery life is incredible. i fished all day yesterday and listened to music while texting a bit and making a few phone calls. was out for about 10 hours and had only used 40% of my battery. so for anyone looking for a good cm7 kernel, the faux has been the best i have found yet

I was out today, and had screen at max brightness using gps for directions, playing solitaire and using 3g for FB, email ect... I only got 6 hrs battery with 3.5 hrs screen time.. I really didn't think that lowering the brightness helped that much, as I usually don't have it at full, but there is a huge difference.. Over 50% drop in battery life..
A simple rom with rich dark kernel
If u want the best battery from your phone consider trying Rasbeanjelly ROM with matr1x kernel. This ROM and kernel has always given me the best battery life though this ROM is not as highly customizable as aokp, paranoid android etc.

RC2 isn't that old (eaven if they pussed RC4 now), SO I'm guessing you dont have it installed for a long time, stay with it a couple of days and let the sistem calibrate the battery properly, after a fiew charging cicles it will be fine...if that doesent work try bb6 with marmite or helly 4.1.2 with Devil kernel updated
I've been frustrated with the battery, as I use this phone as my daily.. I recently bought a 3800 mah battery and get about 7 hours of screen time with moderate to heavy use.. I'm a bit more reassured now

I've been frustrated with the battery, as I use this phone as my daily.. I recently bought a 3800 mah battery and get about 7 hours of screen time with moderate to heavy use.. I'm a bit more reassured now

Is that the extended battery?
The one that makes the phone fat?
Yea! Exactly that one.. But I don't notice it too much to be honest.. My thumb does most of my phone work.. And sometimes I used to be stuck phone-less, so for me the weight is a small price to pay

Guys i am on my holidays and i play a lot of ingress currently i am on CM10.1 RC2, my battery is draining like anything so can any one suggest me a ROM that has a good battery and also a proper kernel which will go on with it. I dont mind downgrading but i need a ROM which has best GPS and also the best battery backup. I tried every ROM here and i get nearly 5 hours of battery that is all.
Please suggest me one ROM.

I too play Ingress, if you're getting about 5 hours of play time you're doing very good. Most people that I play with get 2 hours max as Ingress is a client heavy app. Remember that playing Ingress is like streaming a movie to your phone and running GPS. The data/Wi-Fi and GPS use a lot of power as they are always on with your screen. I have found that if I tether my phone to another device and just use Wi-Fi for data I get about another 30 min of play time, or if I just use the phone as a hot-spot I will get about 4 hours of play on my N7 with out recharging.
