Smartass2/deadline 1000/100 mhz (only about an hour on 3g)
I was out today, and had screen at max brightness using gps for directions, playing solitaire and using 3g for FB, email ect... I only got 6 hrs battery with 3.5 hrs screen time.. I really didn't think that lowering the brightness helped that much, as I usually don't have it at full, but there is a huge difference.. Over 50% drop in battery life..

A simple rom with rich dark kernel
If u want the best battery from your phone consider trying Rasbeanjelly ROM with matr1x kernel. This ROM and kernel has always given me the best battery life though this ROM is not as highly customizable as aokp, paranoid android etc.

RC2 isn't that old (eaven if they pussed RC4 now), SO I'm guessing you dont have it installed for a long time, stay with it a couple of days and let the sistem calibrate the battery properly, after a fiew charging cicles it will be fine...if that doesent work try bb6 with marmite or helly 4.1.2 with Devil kernel updated

I've been frustrated with the battery, as I use this phone as my daily.. I recently bought a 3800 mah battery and get about 7 hours of screen time with moderate to heavy use.. I'm a bit more reassured now

Is that the extended battery?
The one that makes the phone fat?

Yea! Exactly that one.. But I don't notice it too much to be honest.. My thumb does most of my phone work.. And sometimes I used to be stuck phone-less, so for me the weight is a small price to pay

I too play Ingress, if you're getting about 5 hours of play time you're doing very good. Most people that I play with get 2 hours max as Ingress is a client heavy app. Remember that playing Ingress is like streaming a movie to your phone and running GPS. The data/Wi-Fi and GPS use a lot of power as they are always on with your screen. I have found that if I tether my phone to another device and just use Wi-Fi for data I get about another 30 min of play time, or if I just use the phone as a hot-spot I will get about 4 hours of play on my N7 with out recharging.

LONGEST LASTING BATTERY stable ROM/kernel

Hi. I am using stock ics. Getting 1.5days of battery with light usage of data(2g). However. Is there a rom that can push it, to a full 2 days? I'm irritated having to charge my phone in the middle of the day. also I would prefer a stable rom only.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
you can put a custom kernel that can extend your battery life. i recommend glados for ics.
Are there any problems with it ?

about GlaDos
if you have S-amuled you will have a greenish screen when waking the device
(that can be fixed with some voodoo configuration editing)
other then that i personally think this is the best available kernel for ICS right now.
it has Deep Idle so you will probably see some improvement of battery life

Hi.
I think that if you want so good batterylife as possible, it all depends on what ROM and kernel you are using together.
In my opinion Matr1x and GlaDOS 2.9 are probably the best, and you should try one of them, or why not try one for a week, then try the other and then deside.

No, just kidding, but it is with a c. I think you're totally right! I prefer Matr1x, but GlaDOS belongs to one of the best kernels as well!

I'm very surprised at this, given Pete's propensity to tweak the baked in kernel dramatically to improve both performance and battery life. I'm getting great results of both using his kernel.
Saying that, Steve Garon's plays very nicely with Pete's ROM. Either leave ondemand and deadline scheduler.
Matr1x is also very good. Same there, or use lazy for decent battery life.
As for what settings. It totally depends what you have going. If you got 25 different news widgets sucking data like there's no tomorrow, then yes, you;re going to see crappy battery life. Tell us what you;ve got going on and we'll try and help.
Well I just turned sync off most Google stuff aside from Gmail and twitter sync is off and other stuff I am not all sure what is and isn't off or on
I can almost sit back and watch my battery tick down ward
Is there like maybe an extended battery aside from the one in box can buy to assist n more juice

cm10 has nice battery life ..m using dark jelly S v20 the battery is really good works almost a day for me with me almost connected for 14-16hrs of wifi connectivity and listening music and of course auto sync always on ! u should try all once before proceeding further
Energy ROM and of course.. other stock based ROMs have the best power management available, you know, engineered by HTC

I'm using Baked too, but for me battery life is just great! Actually on 57% with 8h 27m and almost 1.5h screen...

Of course rooting for battery is a good idea. Undervolted & underclocked kernels, delete bloatware that's constantly running, etc. And as far as best battery life, baked has been very kind to my phone.
A typical day for me (7am on phone for 2-3 hours reading the news before work, music to/from work, light usage on breaks, then hotspot at home for internet, and all the calls/texts in between and countless downloads) will leave me with 20-30% battery when I go to bed around midnight

[Q] Beanstalk and CM 10.1 Battery Life

Does anyone know the difference between beanstalk and CM 10.1's jelly bean battery life?? Because i just got beanstalk yesterday and it's been draining my battery pretty quick so I'm thinking about switching back to CM 10.1 to see if there are any differences in the battery life..
I don't think there are any differences to be honest.
Beanstalk is based on CM10.1 with some extra features.
But I still recommend to try as many as different ROMs possible because it might be ROM but it also could be your old battery.
My battery is new and it is still bad. So I can see if it's older and worn out battery, must be really bad.
By the way, ice cream sandwich and jellybean have worse battery life than gingerbread.

I get better battery life on JB than I ever got on GB. And I'm still on my original battery.
I replied to your other post though with an app that could help. And by the way. After daily driving both cm10.1 and beanstalk, the battery life difference is not noticeable.

I left Carbon because of the sizing differences between 260 and 190 DPI, and the home key did not work, although the battery seemed amazing even though it was just after a flash. I didn't have much of a chance to test as I had 38% battery. Ill try Beanstalk now, right after I clear some space

[Q] Stock or Custom rom for better battery

Hello all, I am wanting to get a good battery life on my mobile. So if I use a marmite kernel with stock jb will I get a better battery life or marmite kernel with rasbeanjelly will give better battery life.
What combo among the two I mentioned you all suggest for good battery life.
Thank you for reading.
Regards
I think that kernels have very little impact on power consumption (except if they running undervolted, downclocked or are broken in some way). More important thing is the ROM and apps that you use on daily base.
Best battery consuming ROM from my exp is CM10 stable with stock kernel, but maybe with 15-20 mins of screen time more than stock at most. Best tip for conserving power on NS and JB is to switch off 3G, Google Now and Location service when you don't need it.

Perhaps with 10.1, but 10 stable, or the latest 20122012 nightly was pretty stable. I had one issue only with it - auto brightness was somewhat jerky... That's only battery wise.
Fastest ROM for me is MDO by knzo, RasbeanJelly mod which I am using right now. 3 and a half hours of screen time is same as 3 hours and 15 minutes. Either way I need to charge it at the end of the day.
