Whenever I take a picture under any kind of artificial light I get bright yellow/orange spot at the center which also shows up in pictures.
My buddy has a vibrant which does not have this problem. I know cell phone cameras act funny in artificial light and I have tried changing white balance from auto to different settings but no luck...
just went to tmobile store to exchange it but they said this is a known software issue which will be fixed soon...
I'm running latest GB leaks and the issue is still there so I don't know about that...
Any feedback guys?

If you can still return do that. tell Tmobile you spent to much money and feel that an issue like that is unacceptable for the price especially when ive never heard of anyone else having this issue. Hope you get an exchange or a fix.

I've had that happen to me on my first one but I exchanged it. I did have the problem once with this phone but it went away. Don't know what causes it.

Maybe it wasn't just a "light". Did that scare you? XD
Anyways, like what everybody says, your best bet would be to get yourself a replacement. Maybe you should try changing the camera app through SGS Tools.
Thanks a lot for the help guys, just got back from the store with a replacement and guess what, this one also has a YELLOW SPOT. Its not as prominent but its still very noticeable. No one else has this problem if you take a picture of white background?
Can you take a picture and post it? Upload it to imageshack.us or something so we get the full uncompressed one (I think.)

Sure, see the pic comparison even after replacing my Galaxy S 4G to the Samsung Vibrant. Galaxy S 4G shows YELLOW spots on pics...

Just checked mine, no yellow spot. I just did a Google search for "yellow spot on picture from camera phone" and it seems that it is a very common issue...there are posts from HTC and Iphone owners reporting the same thing.

I have same problem with me and my wifes phone. If you take a picture of a white wall or white paper under incandescent light you can see a orange hue srtarting from the center and fading out. It works fine under fluorescent or natural light. I think these phones have a super cheap Chinese camera in them. Just gonna go with gs2 soon. This phone has been awsome for the most part but signing a new 2 year contract for the gs2 is a simple solution for me.

I'm going to speculate it is a rear camera issue. The front facing camera does not have this problem. A good way to check your camera for this problem is to turn up the contrast/saturation/sharpness all the way up. You will REALLY see it if you haven't noticed it before.
I have this issue too. If anything, it is an issue with this phone itself. I will tell tmo and hopefully get a nexus prime.

well if its like the ipad and its a manufacturer defect I wont return it its not terrible just curious if its only me with the backlight bleeding
I noticed it a little bit on the top corners when I first powered on the 2 that I have. I don't notice it at much during use though (a tiny bit when watching something full screen with dark colors in the corner).
I noticed it too when I turned mine on. I do not notice it when it is up and running

Btw, I think this is just the way they are all going to be. Look up iPad 2 bleeding issues. People have replaced them 3-4 times and it's always the same. So I doubt replacing will make a huge difference.

I'm replacing mine too, but I'm going to ask the customer rep tommorrow if there's any way to go in store to arrange the exchange so I can make sure I don't get another phone with a bleeding backlight problem. I'm surprised that they didn't catch this somehow?

Let us know what they say.
I originally ordered mine online and just called to get replacements. The rep said - and it is on the return form - that you can only return/exchange through the channel you purchased. Or, if you are a new customer, you could cancel and then go to a store and sign a new contract - and get a new phone number.
Customer rep said she'd escalate the issue, and that once the issue was assessed, they'd make sure to check for the issue in the replacement units, so she said they won't be sending out faulty units. She said I was the first person to comment on it, so I'd recommend that more people call in to T-Mobile to make sure they address the issue. I'm surprised so many people are having this issue! Also said that it has to be sent through the warehouse and I couldn't exchange in store.
I have some minor bleeding but nothing irksome. I checked it on full screen apps, not startup.
I'd replace it if it was guaranteed no leaking I guess but not going to go nuts over it.

Still don't know whether I should go for sensation or sgs II.
except for qHD and design quality, I like everything from sgs II.
But I still want to go for sensation. I have seen some of the video review and found that the sensation screen has yellowish color when being looked the side.
I am a bit a person like to show off. am wondering whether the hot girls will just laugh at this.
Sounds to me like you have bigger issues than just the yellow tint

Well, ignoring the girls comment, on the Slashgear screen comparison video they mention that on the video it looks yellowish but that in real life it is very white (whiter than the SII).
I got mine delivered on saturday and was immediately disappointed as the screen does have a yellow/green tint and the whites are not bright white
I went to my local vodafone store to compare it with one of theirs and the one they unboxed had a perfect display. I tried to exchange but they couldn't as mine was an online purchase and not a store purchase!!
Went home and contacted the online team and they agreed to exchange and made arrangements for a replacement to be delivered tomorrow (tuesday). Several hours later I got a call from them to say they were out of stock so the replacement will be delayed but I should get it sometime this week!!
Overall I like the phone but the display on mine definitely lets it down! Hoping that the replacement will be ok
Please update it on this. If this is case by case, I would still give it a go.

hoorah!
So it's finally arrived 10 days after vodafone agreeing to replace.... what a performance getting it.
This one is good, the screen is fine and whites are white.... yay!
Fully set up with no other probs yet found although like others have reported it does get warm on charging.
Now we'll see how it goes......
Another update. Went to shop again today, same thing, went to phones4u, their one looked tiny bit whiter. Decided to stick with my current unit..
Also, i noticed that brand new ones at voda where even more yellow than mine, so maybe screen needs some time to burn or something? One thing i'm not going to do is i will never put my desire next to sensation, as this annoys me a lot then, when i can see how much difference there is.
Another thing, i believe it is software problem, not hardware, as when i look at xda its got some hue, but when i scroll forums, colour changes to normal ever so slightly. Weird.....
Oh, and the LOOKS i was given at vodashop.... I think they believed I was an idiot, shame i didn't have desire with me...
Thanks man. That is really great to know. I might go for sensation. What an idiot I am.

Will she ever get used to the ball and learn how to use it? I am thinking that she wasn't handled very much in her young life, as she just wants to hide. Am I expecting to much too soon?

I'm having the same issue. In my case it happens when my girlfriend sends me a screen shot from her GS3 and the same thing happens with my friend when he sends me screen shots from his HOX. We are all on AT&T with their respective branded devices. Not that I think it matters what carrier branded devices the screen shots are coming from.
From my experience with this issue, it seems that it only happens with someone sends me a screen shot. It's very random as well.
Could it be possible that screen shots are saved as an incompatible file type? If they are compatible, could it be a proxy setting?

I think we're on to something here. Perhaps there's a piece of code somewhere that tricks the phone into thinking it needs to resize .png files to a specific size, but has an error that causes it to show up as 20x20 pixels.

So, I RMAed my Skyrocket due to the dreaded AMOLED blobs that Samsung can't seem to get rid of. Mine were somewhat OK when I originally got the phone, but 7mos later they're quite noticeable in some spots. In addition, the screen has that vertical "brushed metal" look to it that's also a pain in the ass.
I got my RMA on Monday, and it had the same damn problem. To top it off, it had a horizontal line on it. However, it didn't have the "brushed metal" effect as bad as my original. Instead, it had what looked like little dust clouds on it.
Naturally, I was pissed. I called AT&T once more, got another RMA (priority shipping included for free!), and got it this morning. Now, it has more spots, a faint brushed metal effect, but no giant blobs or dust clouds. On a more interesting note, the DSLR picked this up as being amber and not green.
So, should I try rolling the RMA dice again, or just going with #3?
EDIT: Got replacement #3 today. It has the same problem, and it's worse than the others! I'm beginning to wonder if this is all pointless.
EDIT 2: Replacement #4 arrived. Same crap, different phone. Not only that, I learned that I have essentially maxed out my AT&T warranty after 4 RMAs. Gotta love that. Going to try Samsung in the morning.
EDIT 3: Replacement #5 has been sitting on my desk for 15 days and I just bothered looking at it. Same problem, getting it DOAed again.
I'm not even bothering with uploading a photo.
EDIT 4: Finally had time for Replacement #6. It doesn't look TOO bad, so I'm thinking that I'll probably go with it. Thoughts, anyone?
Seriously, has anyone gotten better results with these phones?
Keep trying I promise you won't get a perfect one but you can get one a wee better

Currently on the phone with AT&T setting up RMA 3. Apparently I've reached the limit on open RMAs, so the CSR is seeing what she can do about it.
LOL.
Got the 3rd replacement today. Lo and behold, it has the same problem! To top it off, it's worse than replacement 2! Calling AT&T again to get another.
It's an ongoing issue with the display. Remember the devices they are sending you are not new they are refurbished.
You can get a brand new SR and it will have blobs on it, just pick the best one and keep it.

The AMOLED screens have a defect, presumably due to the mass-production of the screens. They get darkened "blobs" at low ambient and backlight levels. They have a tendency to grow. Thus, I'm trying to find the best one I can.
In other news, I got replacement #4 today! It has the same problem. Not only that, 4 open RMAs seems to temporarily lock AT&T's warranty system, and now I have to interface directly with Samsung. Lovely.
God, I hate this kind of crap Samsung lets happen to their devices.
Just looked at Replacement #6. It seems to look OK, so I'll probably go with it.

I had to RMA 2 of them, the third one started randomly rebooting itself during calls. I got a hold of warranty replacement and explained to them that this was the third one, and I was not happy, of course they offered to send me a replacement S2 Skyrocket, and I told them NO, I wanted something else. They of course couldn't / wouldn't do it.
They sent me on to a different version of customer service and explained to them everything that happened and I told them that I would not accept another one due to the failure rate. They offered me a new phone, told me I couldn't have an iPhone or Note, but any of their other phones was acceptable. I asked for a garnet red GS III. 24 hours later I had a brand new GS III sitting on my desk. I have not had ANY issues with the S III.
OH and side note, they let me keep the GS II Skyrocket instead of sending it back in. I sent it in to Samsung and they sent me a brand new one back, and so far not a single issue with it either, however it just sits on the desk at home waiting to be used. I decided to keep it as a back up in case the S III had an issue.
Lol I always wondered what the **** those were!

The camera on this thing is amazing. I'm coming from a galaxy nexus so maybe that's why.
If you leave it on Auto it snaps pics blazing fast. Put it on HDR and they're still decently fast, but it "processes" them afterwards.
Also, depending on your lighting will also affect the speed at which it takes pictures because it's leaving the "shutter" open longer to capture more light on to the sensor. Use a flash in low-light to help with this.

Something is seriously wrong... Try to reset your camera settings. If its still taking that long to even process a picture something is definitely wrong with your unit. Bad shots or not, it does not take almost 4 seconds to process a shot.

I agree the focus takes a long time (relatively)
It's got to be ypur specific device because mine is almost flawless
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda app-developers app
It seems to me that a lot of the people that claim problems with their S4s are the same people over and over again. Yet others, claim little or no problems.
So, it would seem that either the problems are specific to certain devices or for whatever reason, people are just trying to shine a bad light on the S4 in general. I think the evidence (so far) suggests that certain phones, indeed, have certain problems.
Complaining about the problems do help, as it lets others know that problems they are experiencing might not be specific to their device only. However, it doesn't shine any light on the issue. So here is what I propose.
If you are one of the people that are claiming bad lag or other problems with your S4, start a thread that allows people to associate their username with their S4 (and all of the problems you are having) and make sure to list your purchase date, build#, current firmware, and any mods (rooting, etc...) that you have done to the phone. Also list where the phone was manufactured and any other details that might set it apart.
Also, do the same if you claim to have no or little issues with your S4.
Hopefully, a pattern might emerge showing that certain phones (lots, firmwares, builds, etc...) are the problem and others are not.
This seems to be better than making another 20 threads about the same old stuff with no idea as to why it is happening. Anyway, it's just an idea.
Mine is flawless it beat everyone else's phones and even point and shoots yesterday someone's prom and I was asked to be the photographer at last min and my DSLR was at home 45min away so I used my phone and it was pretty good enough it took amazing pictures!

For that matter, GS3 AND GALAXY NEXUS were faster than my GS4.
can't get any better than this.... Took these last Saturday the 1st day the phone came out
I live in New York City and have taken numerous, non blurry shots with this phone. The shutter speed is indeed slower than the HTC One (which my girlfriend owns), but it's easily remedied by holding still a bit longer.
Here are some shots...
Keep in mind the shot of Barclays is 9MP while the shot of One World Trade and the GTR were taken off of Facebook (and may have been cropped) since they're some how no longer in my SD card. Also the latter two were taken while I was driving so they're remarkably in focus.
Have you removed the plastic from the lens? It's very hard to see and pretty tough to remove. But that could be your problem with the focus issue.

Can you take a video of you taking a picture describing the 4sec response time?
Yeah without showing us some pictures you have taken. or a video showing this. We won't really be able to compare or diagnose this situation. It's just one group saying look at my photos its good. and another group saying its bad. Post some content. I am actually quite curious about this problem you are having.
