Lets figure out these issues... - HTC Sensation

Hello,
I have been reading countless stories about CWM, battery charging, and ect. and feel that people are moving forward with the wrong path. I see so many ROMs and whatnot springing up that also have many issues.
Today I found that while the new alpharev version of CWM DOES charge my phone when off, my phone wont reboot without a battery pull. Using ROM manager to update CWM, I find it does charge my battery AND allows me to start up normally. This is great, but for me and anyone else that finds this to be true for their phone.
BUT WHY!? What on earth is wrong? What does CWM do that could cause these "who the hell knows why?" cases?
I also find that when I reboot, setCPU required me to redo the insmod command to work again. That wasnt too bad, just connect via usb and copy and paste via command prompt. That was with the alpharev version of CWM. Now with the newest version, I have to UNINSTALL setCPU, reinstall, then go through the whole process of setting it up! Just cause of a reboot?
I feel that everyone has skipped a step...The basics! We need to figure out what is wrong with the codes.
I dont think its such a great idea to be cooking up ROMs when there are MAJOR issues with the basics...
Anyone agree?
Matt

No. I don't agree at all. Most users are having no SERIOUS issues at all. Most, if not all, of these issues are caused by noobish mistakes, not following directions, not reading up on ALL available info before trying a mod, and basically people just not knowing what the hell they are doing. These mods are not for everyone, yet every idiot with a smart phone thinks they need to do them. The issue with charging has been known since the first recovery was released and they acted fast to address the problem, but people don't read and don't know any better and they flash what they shouldn't. Well, they deserve the bricks they end up with IMO.

Well said good sir. Well said.
EDIT: And a fellow Las Vegan. Even better.

Seriously? Very arrogant, the both of you! You assumed that most people having theses issues are screwing with things that they dont know? Some are, but not most. Not by any means. The fact that people ARE creating fixes is proof of what I am saying.
I am NOT running anyone's ROM. I am running stock.
It isnt hard, at all, to do what you guys do. The directions spell it out plain and clear, yet issues are springing up. S-OFF was easy, as was installing CWM to gain perm. root.
The issues I described rest on the shoulders of the devs. Stop blaming it on "noobs". They had nothing to do with the battery issue.
Now, people installing ROMs and all that could be blamed on ignorance, but not the basics. FIX THE BASICS before you start insulting noobs please.
Screw it..
EDIT: If it is so obvious that these issues are user related, then please explain how so? How on earth did I F up things and cause my battery to act like a turd? Where along the lines of, " DL, connect via usb and enter key" did I go wrong even though I now have S-OFF?
Where along the lines of DL the CWM file, putting on the SD card, boot into recovery and apply update (done successfully) did I screw up and cause these issues? See what I am saying? I didnt flash any rom, or mess with a radio, or anything of that sort yet am having the same issues as many others. Nor have I done any mods, or adjusted any settings available only to root users. You guys have problems with your basics. You need to recognize this and figure it out. Ever heard of having a strong foundation?

How dare you sir! Do you have any idea how much time and effort goes into making these mods? Which, by the way are currently in DEVELOPER PREVIEW and by definition not for everyone! You have the nerve to demand things and basically call their work ****? You clearly have no clue. Where are your fixes smart guy? What have you done to make this community better? You don't just come in here and blame the devs (that do this work for FREE) for your problems and then think they are going to help you. It doesn't work that way. How about a little appreciation!

How dare you blame people's issues on their ignorance? Face it bro, these things have some major issues going on, and no one knows why. Instead of ignoring them, and hoping they will get better, MAKE THEM BETTER. I am tired of seeing people shrug off issues as noob mistakes. Some are, such as flashing ROMs not meant for the phone without backing up their current ROM, but doing everything correctly and then having to hijack the battery is seriously different.
You are responsible for what you publish. Free or not! If you understand the problems people are having, and know why, then so say.
I never called anyone's work ****, you did.
Appreciation? How about showing it as well? Youve got countless people testing things for you! Doing what you cannot, by yourself! When people bring a problem to your attention, you tell them they are a noob and then dismiss it! Why? What an asshole thing to do, and a very unprofessional one at that.
I know I am not alone. People need to speak up! These are not JUST noob mistakes, there are some GENUINE MAJOR issues with the groundwork. They need to be addressed. It is insulting to see people follow the directions perfectly, find a major bug, then be told they are a noob while the problem just goes on to others. You guys called these problems "fixed" which they clearly arent. I simply brought it to your attention in a non submissive tone.
Let a MOD close my thread If I am out of line. Come on people, SAY SOMETHING!

You clearly don't get it do you? Everything here is, and has always been, a work in progress. NO ROM is EVER 100% bug proof, not even the stock stuff. So back off and stop demanding that bugs get fixed. Nobody likes to be yelled at for their hard work, especially by someone who obviously has no clue.
EDIT: I agree with you on one thing: This thread should die.
MODS please close.

Insmod is stupid to use on a permroot device. Also, for the person saying it's the noobs fault, most of the time, yes, yes it is, but they were not at fault with CWM. 4.0.1.5 claimed to fix issues, yet it did not. Also, I'm not pinning this on the devs either, nothing is completely bug-free. It's arrogant f*cks like you that is making XDA die a slow, painful death.

Exactly why he started this thread. There is an issue or two and there are conflicting reports that it is fixed and the OP would like to get to the bottom of it. Instead, we got some very knee-jerk reactions blaming it on the users or excuses that it is all a work in progress. That's fine, I understand how this could feel like an attack on the developers. But why not try to get to the bottom of it?
It still isn't apparent to me in one of the several threads about the battery issue if this has been solved. Some people on TMO branded phones indicated the latest version of CWM (as of a few days ago) still doesn't allow charging with the phone completely off. I'll be checking my phone shortly and will post some results. Sorry, but I would consider this a major issue. If you let your phone battery die, it can't be restarted without an extra (charged) battery or some rather McGyver-esque operations. Not something that comes up often, but if/when it does you could be SOL when you need your phone.
We have plenty of people here willing to help, but we need a little direction....
His point about "it isn't hard to do what you do" wasn't implying that developing is easy, he was implying that the directions to get S-off and install CWM were easy. Although phrased poorly, blaming it on "noobs" screwing things up is unfounded and ridiculous.

Before the MODS close this thread I have to agree with the OP. I understand that the DEVS work hard on their ROMs, however, no one likes flashing a bad ROM because they failed to fix the basic problems. It's even worse when a DEV releases a ROM knowing the bugs that hinder basic use, yet don't list them on the ROM description. That, IMHO, is a noob DEV. No ROM is perfect, and you do take a risk whenever you do flash a ROM, but there should never be a need for laziness. If there are many bugs, then the ROM should be released as Beta or even Alpha until the bugs hindering basic functions are worked out.
And before you flame me, I am not a noob. I have supported the rooting of android since I had the G1 running the JF mods and have rooted every one of my devices after, from the MT3G, Moto Cliq, MT4G, G2x, etc. all the way to my current Sensation and my soon to be MT4G Slide. XD

Arrogant huh? Do you even know what that means? Well whatever my phone works great Captain D-bag.

You don't get it either. Nobody has a gun to your head telling you to flash a ROM to your phone, do they? It's your choice, therefore you're ultimately responsible for what goes on your phone. The devs didn't put it there, you did. I understand bugs are annoying, but that's the point of this community. As users of the ROMs we are responsible for reporting bugs and patiently waiting for a fix. The devs certainly don't like reading crap like this thread. You think it motivates them to keep working when there are people whining about stuff instead of offering pleasant, yet constructive criticism and thanks? These devs work on their own time. Nothing says they have to release anything at all to the public, but they do. Again, the mods are always a work in progress. They release things to find out bugs and fix them.
Jesus H. Christ quit your *****ing.

Guess what folks? I see NONE of you read my stickies.

Feeling impatient

I've had my phone 2 weeks and run out of things to do to it. Where's the roms? froyo where are you ?

Well I can't wait for froyo + full file system lag fix
If you're not satisfied with the current rate of development, feel free to put together your own rom or even contribute to current development. The phone is what, two, three months old? Some phones didn't even have root methods for that long. If you wanted an att device that had a background of strong community hacking, should have gone with an htc device. The method of building roms on this phone is massively different and requires time to get everything sorted. And I'm willing to believe a lot of devs are waiting fur for the 2.2 source

I think you are taking this entire thread the wrong way.
I think the OP is trying to say that he has done all he can, where is something new? More things to play with.
Nowhere did he belittle or offend anyone. Nor was anything implied.
I have had my phone for 7 weeks - I want to see even more new ROMs -but in no way am I saying anything about anyone. I can't wait for the first Cyanogenmod either - I am impatient, just like I was when waiting for the Captivate launch day.
+10 on the "lighten up Francis"
Looks to me like you are a good candidate to get in the kitchen and start cooking. That way you don't have to wait around for the roms and we can all play.
I don't think it's a matter of lightening up, I agree the op surely said "where are the roms?" That could have ben interpreted more than one way, which it was. Coming from the op of the forum nazi thread, sounds like you have plenty of time to start cooking and stop whining

Hey gunny, I know how you feel. I too am a bit bored. The rom development is great so far but that's starting to reach it's limit with what devs can do while we wait for froyo. I would love something new to play with. Maybe flash or some awesome game to come along that really pushes this device. Gps fix from sammysung would be nice. I could drive around using that to kill some boredom.
Anyway, props to the devs. Thank god we have some good ones. I would have been bored weeks ago without and with a laggy phone on top of that.
I understand both sides but unfortunately unless you know how to dev we all must be patient. These guys have done very good work and so far it is right on par with the Vibrant, and we all know T-mobile has many more dev's to work on ROMS. With more time will come better products, and all Galaxy S phones will be waiting for a while for 2.2. If Cyanogen comes out soon it shouldn't be hard for Eugene or someone to make a port of it, even if Eugene does not own a Captivate.
There's no need to fight guys, in all seriousness we have the best touch-screen phone on the whole market!
Gorgeous screen, specs, and soon to be a great international community of devs with the whole family of galaxy s line sharing ideas and accelerating the growth of development at a great pace.
Not to mention the soon to be implemented froyo that will not only introduce optimizations and flash, but also allow for a greater use of the phone's potential- spec wise.
Take into consideration the further development after froyo + full lag fix + a COMMUNITY effort of collaboration and I see a really bright future ahead of us.
Personally I LOVE my phone, it does everything I want it to do (I multi-task like a beast!!) BEAUTIFUL camera software.. I painlessly take panoramic shots! What more can you ask for?
Yes some high quality games compared to that of the iphone would be great, but the anti-piracy measures are not on par with the iphone at the moment, so we'll have to wait a little for the big-name app/game developers to step in.

I don't know what you mean by "all of my posts recently have had attitude." I generally answer any questions asked and follow it up with any advice I can offer. threads like this where, even unintentionally, the OP is kind of being dismissive toward the excellent work Unhelpful, DG, eugene (and a slew of others who I have forgotten to name).
it'd be fine if he was just opening a thread to say "I'm excited for something new! can't wait for froyo! woo!" it's that the attitude of this is "I'm bored with all the work everyone else has done." especially when it's someone who doesn't contribute to development (not counting donations, I have no idea if he has donated) himself. I just want people to be grateful for what they have right now... there's no need a open a thread saying "I want more but I want others to do the work"
Dude. Quit reading into stuff that isn't there. As for donated monies, I have indeed done so in the past. Lots. And Kaik, I am NOT directing this at you personally, just used your quote. This is meant as a general comment not directed at any specific person....
Ok, I clicked on this thread because I could have written it myself, as it was intended. Which was obviously "Ok, I tried all the mods and now I want to try a new one or an update of 1 I already have."
For instance, as you can see from my signature, I run sre123. Last night, Designgears posted that 123a would be posted that night. I thought nothing of saying "ooo, can't wait, please hurry!!!" because DG knows how I meant it (I hope).
I have only seen a couple of REAL jerk posts, and those were like "hey thanks, your mod/rom broke my phone" idiots. Read the OP's and mod and your own risk, fools!
I have NEVER programmed. I understand what gets done here, having been a pc tech, but I can ONLY help by installing and testing and reporting results. This device and this forum has inspired me to try to learn what the guys like Cyanogen, Designgears, Eugene etc do. But until I learn, I will eagerly await new stuff to play with, much like the OP of this thread.
Sorry to type so long a note, but the ONLY thing that can ruin this forum is nazi's. I live in S Florida, got enough condo and homeowner association nazi's to deal with !!! =)

I wonder why that is. Dosn't seem intuitive that would be the case. TM is a much smaller carrier, with much less coverage. I can't imagine (of course maybe I'm short on imagination) that there are more people on the TM version than the Captivate.
I too am impatient. But the impatience is for the GPS Fix.
Gunny...I'm with you. Seems many people just try to take everything the wrong way. Of course, the fact is, writing things and having them read, the reader doesn't know what your mood is, and it is a fact that if it can be taken wrong, it will be by some.
If I had the time to invest, I'd get into the ROMs. In fact I started to get into DEV. Downloaded the tools, did a couple weeks playing. But my programming has never expanded to Java, and the learning curve is too large, so I guess I won't. I'd enjoy it, but being at the computer all the time is not how I want to spend my time. I already spend a lot of time on it.
Regarding the DEVs, I appreciate them, and enjoy their work, and contribute occasionally to those I tend to utilize and keep using. But that doesn't diminish my right to be impatient. All customers are, no?
I want the GPS fix. All Galaxy S phones come with a nonfunctioning GPS. Froyo will be great to have also but they need hurry up with the GPS. The Droid X and all Motorola Android phones have an awesome GPS out of the box. I'm hoping Samsung gets it together otherwise they're not worth buying if it lacks a feature that most phones nowadays have. This problem from Samsung shows they rush things out to fast and then once they're out they fail to repair phones currently released.
I'll be eating my words if an update gets released within a week though.

From what I have read about Dev's and Tmobile is mainly because Tmob was the first to have Android. Lots of them are familiar from being already on Tmob. But that is just what I have read, does not necessarily make it correct. The dev's for the Captivate are doing a phenomenal job getting us great products.
Highlighted portion: Joking aside since I know you are, if people are impatient they really should start learning how to do this stuff. The intent of the thread missed the mark based on how it was written. We all want more ROM's or theme's or launchers etc...and they are coming but nobody has any say to be impatient when the majority of these dev's do these on a donation basis. How bad would it suck when people continue to feel impatient and the dev's decide to not dev anymore?

Best thing I can tell you, before you get flamed for that post, is read. Also, you need to be more specific with your issue. If you want someone to hand hold you through the process, your probably not going to find the help you are looking for. Reading and searching are your friends. I am not being mean in anyway. People have gotten flamed in the past for a post like that. First, you didn't say if you've already searched. Second, you mention very little detail of your problem. Third, you don't mention which rooting method you are using and where you are in the process. Just on the last point alone, I think you are trying to have someone walk you through the process. In which case, you don't need to root if you won't take the time to read, read, and read again, and try the process yourself. Not trying to jump on ya, just from your post it seems like you are not even trying to help yourself first. If you have a genuine issue, please, give us more detail to make an effort to help you.

So... The phone is useless as it is? Why would you buy a useless phone?
Because you didnt discover it was useless until it was too late, like, after 31 days of having it?
Don't blame the phone for your inability to do what 90% of the people in these sections of XDA managed to do just fine.
Now, maybe you should go do a little reading.
Then, if, after you've made an honest attempt to figure it out using the plethora of resources at your disposal here, you still run into problems, and are willing to provide a little more insight into the nature of your specific problem, people might be a bit more willing to lend a hand.
Good luck!
Man rooting an inspire is not that hard. You just need to follow directions. Read up on the root methods available watch the videos choose your preferred method read the tutorial and watch the video AGAIN then do it. 99% of the time it will work. I used the hack kit But ive heard bubbys works great too. My inspire was rooted 20 mins after I got it. But I read and watched the videos long before it arrived. It really isnt something you should just decide to do on a whim. You should really understand the process and what each individual step does before attempting.

I used the hack kit But ive heard bubbys works great too. My inspire was rooted 20 mins after I got it. But I read and watched the videos long before it arrived. It really isnt something you should just decide to do on a whim. You should really understand the process and what each individual step does before attempting.

Hes right,
The main part of being successful with these devices is everything he said, you really shoud read, read, watch whatever it takes to be totally sure about the process. You must be very careful if its your first time, and at the same time, ive learned, you cant let it intimedate you, it will be much harder and that much easier to mess up. If you do all these things and are still not sure or dont feel right about doing it, find somone close to you that can.

Oh geeze, here we go, everyone here at xda is omnipitant, not everone knows every aspect of this site, if he/she doesnt know how to root why would you expect them to know where/how to search and what to read if they did, some people do deserve a break hes just frustrated.

Well, for one thing, if by "omnipitant" you mean *omnipotent*, then you probably *really* meant *omniscient*, so I understand what you meant. I think.
What I don't understand, however, is why you think that someone who doesn't know how to root shouldn't be expected to know how to search for information about rooting.
Perhaps you might better explain to me your logic?
Ok, your right. I should have been more direct.
By "omnipotent" i ment -all knowing.
My point is. People will never stop asking for help on this site, it will just never happen, nor will they ever stop being ignorant, ie. Not reading enough not following directions. I understand it gets old, but its one thing if hes new, its another if this is the 5th time hes been told. I just think you took the wrong approach at teaching him, there is such a thing as positive reinforcement, hes already frustrated, treating him like hes an idiot will get us all no where, well, most of us. We were all new at some point or another
Now, what does not seem even a tad bit logical to me is, getting offended over a damn cell phone

Alright, now that I understand what you are saying a bit better, I agree, people won't ever stop asking for help, or being ignorant.
And as long as I have this phone and am otherwise able to, I won't ever stop helping people. . . but not if they post out of frustration, *expecting people here on XDA to be "omniscient"*, knowing exactly how to fix their problem with only the vaguest of details provided.
Posting when pissed is about as productive as blogging while drunk.

Sad thing is though if he searched he would have seen everyone else getting flamed for this exact same question and type of post. Then he would have known better and how to ask the question and seek help. And Scott I'm going to make a damn sticky on how to search. This they didn't know how to search and cant get past the clutter thing isn't an excuse.
coming from the droid incredible and hero before it.. the inspire is alittle more difficult to root. but if u say take 30 mins out of your day its not that bad.. just stay focused and read and go slow and you will be on your way..

What he is saying is retarded. You did nothing wrong. noobs are expected to read. End of story. If they do not and post anyways, then they should be subject to the redicule that comes with such a blatently assinine posting. Baler is wrong to call anyone out... .. I have the feeling I would find a noobish post by him and the routing there of; If I dug through his postings. Least it would explain his stance. But alas, I care not. Scotts one of the most helpfull nice peeps here.

Now you guys know him alot more than I do, I even think hes helped me with a few things, one or two of those thanks are prolly from me. but if everyone really feels this way, ill prolly stop defending noobs then, unless its worth the time.

It probably looked like I was jumping on the guy because I was. A little. Thin skins don't do well, here, though.
There's nothing wrong with defending someone, when appropriate, I've done it I think, maybe a total of 3 or 4 times, all cases where a user was unfairly blamed for something or was made to feel like they weren't a worthwhile contributor or called a name because they weren't able to answer someone's question to their satisfaction.
All I'm saying is that XDA is less noob-centric than other forums. That's not to say noobs shouldn't come here to learn...I lost my basic noobness here (and I say basic, 'cause I don't know half the **** some people here do) ... Just that there's an expectation to fulfill some prerequisite familiarization with one's device, and to be at least a little proficient in problem-solving on one's own before posting.

Bricked one phone.. Got replacement. Need Help

Okay so I had a G2x and tried rooting it and I think i did something wrong. With all these instructions ramble on about one thing and another hard for me to really understand all the correct steps.
So can I please have someone give me a hand with this? As in a step by step process of everything? This is my second G2X brand new from T-Mobile has the Gingerbread 2.3.3. So if anyone can actually tell me step by step and what files I am going to need so I don't brick this one because 300USD is getting expensive.
u payed for ur replacement? lol
use the one click flash nvidia tool, to flash the clockworkmod, you dont evne have to root it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kG08Uc8pQT0
yeah I had to pay for a second one. GRRR T-Mo actually checks their phones with sprint if I bricked or something just dip it in water and send it in. They would never check to see if you rooted it. So anyways do I install Clockwork or only do the steps in the video with the nv flasher?
And whats the best rom? I really like the looks of MIUI sorta looks like my wifes iPhone.
i think you screwed yourself on this one... this phone is like virtually unbrickable, nvflash should be able to bring you out of any soft bricks you might run into and ive run into a fair share of them and never had a problem...
i would recommend you sift though the development section and read all of the tutorials and have a very good understanding of what you are doing instead of having someone spoonfeed you everything when you really dont know what you are doing... (im a high school math teacher and cannot stand it when students are just spoonfed information because in the end they really dont understand what they are doing)
start here though http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
Yeah, what he said. maybe you shouldn't be messing with your phone if you don't understand the implications.

Best thing I've ever read. It helps shine a light on why so many people almost daily are asking for help on how to do something when this forum is riddled with tutorials. I personally stopped helping months ago with any questions on how to root or flash or just anything that there are tutorials for. It just gets crazy redundant.

Then why even post in here? Don't be a ****. Even more frustrating than people who can't use a search feature are people too uptight and high-strung to help someone. Yeah, maybe the OP could have found the answer himself. But he's obviously been following a tutorial (likely in this very forum) that's not working for him (hence his replacement phone). The guy just needs two seconds of help from someone. In the amount of time it took me to copy/paste the following links, I could have torn him a new one thirty times over. But I'm not a ****. So, if you absolutely HAVE to post here, at least make it constructive. Incessant *****ing does no good for anyone.
To the OP:
Firstly, you'll need to flash CWM. This is super simple, given you're on a PC. If you're on Mac, things will get tricky (i.e. virtual Linux environment, headaches, etc).
Next, you can find an easy to follow rooting method here. It even has an unroot .zip option given you have to send your phone in again (will save you another $300 ).
And of course, you can PM me if you need any help. If these are the steps you have already followed, here's a YouTube video with some visuals. When I'm stuck on something, that usually helps me a lot.

Uhhhh... i really dont understand how i was being a ****... I simply stated that he should have a holistic understanding of what hes doing before he starts tinkering because the figure it out as you go method can lead to a 300 dollar paper weight. Not to mention I pointed him in the right direction to start....
All I did was give a bit of advice that I felt was in his best interest and then sent him on his way...
If you think what I originally posted was flaming then you clearly have never seen me tear somebody a new one lol

They are being difficult. What they realize is that the OP has already stated that he's bricked one device because he cannot follow directions. He obviously does not know what he's doing, and has problems following instructions because, as he put it..they go on and on... In the end even if he successfully roots his phone, he may wind up causing himself problems by having access to system files because it's obvious he doesn't really know what he's doing. Everyone shouldn't root. If you cannot follow the simple instructions to root without "bricking" a device, and you cannot follow simple instructions to bring the device back to an operational state, then perhaps rooting is not for you (OP). It just sounds like he is going to cause himself even more problems.

I can't believe no one has said this yet.
Most phones have water sensors, so dipping it in water would just void the warranty. Sorry if you were joking. But as many have said, it's pretty easy to flash the phone back to normal so the TMobile doesn't know it's been hacked. Did you ask here first?
I am thankful for all the responses. Sorry if I caused grief and headache to anyone. I was finally able to get my phone rooted giving the information that someone provided to me on here. I sent him a PM to personally thank him.
By all means I should probably be *****ed at if I don't follow instructions very well. I have always considered myself a visual learner. If I don't have hands on and able to see it done, it really complicates things for me. I guess you can call it a disability.
Anyways I have come from a long line to HTC which I can say is way different in rooting then these phones. I root them to begin with to get rid of all the stupid software T-Mobile places in my phone and to normally switch to CM7 which I have found out is giving me problems which I am currently trying to figure out.
So please negative comments and put downs are always accepted it comes with the questions. But I don't want to sound like an ass or anything when I say this because I mean it in the upmost respect to everyone, but isn't this a forum? A community forum?
Someone once had to show you, all I did was ask for the same help. And this whole GSM network ways of doing things is different from my typical Sprint CDMA network that I am used to. Everything was pretty much the same when it came to that.
Again please I AM VERY SORRY truly if I caused any problems. Please don't be upset at me. Thanks.
I don't think anyone is upset with you. We're all here to contribute and help. Have fun with your rooted G2X

Do not sweat the whiners. Here is the way I look at it... It is a forum for developers. I can not develop crap, so I try to do my part by being helpful when I can. Everyone here was brand new at one point. Make sure you do your part by reading as much as you can. If you still have questions/issues, send me a PM.
Why does every noob question get followed up with a bunch bullshizz. We were all noobs at one point, I remember when my Huawei ascend scared me. Nothing is worse than bricking your phone and being upset than a bunch of know it all asses being pricks. Is the g2x forum the only one full of d-ckheads? I've never heard so much whining and holier than thou bs. I'm surprised we have any devs, ungrateful bunch of *****es. Wah, nvidia never, wah, everyone else has ics, wah, that noob asked a question, wah, I suck. I love my g2x, it's a typical musclecar, way over powered and finicky as hell. The g2x is not a beginners device, this is for big boys and girls. I wonder what the whiners would do if they owned a ferrari? Newsflash, they break down, a lot! I remember when xda was where you went for help and support, now I come here to be entertained by the ignorance of the know it alls. Go ahead, blast me, I'm a writer for an Android website and I'll make it painful. OK, then, how bout all these new roms and updates? It's like the g2x is reborn. Hey, wait a minute, I thought the g2x was a useless, unsupported piece of ka ka? Frickin morons!

Well first I am glad you were able to fix the phone however I understand knowledgeable people get frustrated because this phone is simple to root. With a phone that has been out this long there is no reason anyone can not find out what to do on there own.
There are so many YouTube videos and forums like this. You are not the second person to too your phone or to brick it so why create a new post looking for help when you can simply Google it. I know your lazy and expect someone else to do your work for you.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...9l19l0l3l3l0l1535l5020l1.0.3.0.2.2.1.0.1l10l0
See plenty of info on the subject I am sure one of these other people have been helped.
This is why devs are tired of these questions they have been answered over and over. You may find this mean to say but you most likely found this forum by using Google so use it to fix your phone. Stop wasting peoples time by being lazy and use your head.

The problem is this. Ppl dont know how to research their issue. Also ppl in our generation cant seem to follow directions worth ****. I was the same way. I learned on my g1. Rooted it successful and then bricked my friends. Over the years ive learned alot about computers/phone/cdma flashing. Playing with the big boys. You are your own worst enemy...

Not much point to this other than me just coming to a slow realization, I don't know why it took me this long but I've finally realized most of the problems I read about are caused by people NOT reading and the problems never really should have happened in the first place.
Perfect example is the new firmware, I've lost count of how many people have posted issues with it even though they aren't superCID and don't even know what that means. Or people not taking the time to research some key vocabulary words, like the difference between a radio and an ruu.
I just don't understand why somebody would spend the money to buy a relatively expensive phone like the sensation and then not take the time to research and read thoroughly before attempting something that could potentially brick their brand new toy??
Ahhh, forget it, maybe I'm just cranky...

This is so true. Some of the instructions are missing steps that you need to complete before you even start. And this board is MASSIVE in size, so finding the right info for your device might sometimes be tricky.
its because people are too impatient
Now don't blame the threads "missing steps" or "not saying you need to upgrade." If you're going to flash your phone with experimental software, you need to know what you're doing.

I agree with this. Coz before I did flash my phone I really did intensive research reading everywhere in this section, finding tips though its true not all guide for noobs is really for noobs which you should have common sense on what you exactly need to do. Until recently a lot of guys (we should thank them) really dedicated their time doing the spoon fed procedures but unfortunately there seems still few people having the hardtime to flash FW, ROM Kernel and ended up bricking the phone.
Been that way for a long time, buddy. Never gonna change.
It would be nice if duplicate questions, cases of user error, etc. were deleted. But that would be way too much work.
I don't know who keeps on rating a 1 and tagging threads with useless tags just because he can but whoever you are, you should realize that this is a public forum. If the topic doesn't concern you, move along. I bet that this is the same guy that put a 1 rating on our Sensation on PH thread.
Get a life buddy. You have way too much free time on your hands.

I agree on 70% on what you said, but....
A COMPLETE noob will not be able to know what those "common sense steps" mean. Nor will he know which terms and which threads apply to his process of flashing, nor which information to look for. He will follow the instructions to the letter, get stuck and then get frustrated when people jump on him and tell him he should've known he had to do this and that before starting.
So, of course he will be confused and ask questions on this forum, EVEN IF the information is available in thread #898761, page 46, post #197.
But yes, I agree. Most of the instructions are solid and most of them tell you to go to a specific thread if you don't know what something means. But not all.
Whats the point of this thread? I don't mean to flame or ***** or troll, really. But it's like saying "If wealth in the world would be more evenly distributed, children in africa wouldn't die from famine" and then you'd have 10 others nodding and saying "yeah"
yeah I agree with OP totally, we all know that and we all were faced with retards who can't google up words like "adb push". Even a noob can fire up google and read what this means, just like I did.
But it's the way it is, and you're not the first to complain about it. Still won't change a damn thing because those ppl we're talking about are the ones least likely to read this thread.
I know you said yourself this thread is for venting, but had I opened a thread each time I face-palmed because of stupid ppl then... ah well you get my point
just my 0.5$
cheers!

But it's the way it is, and you're not the first to complain about it. Still won't change a damn thing because those ppl we're talking about are the ones least likely to read this thread.
I know you said yourself this thread is for venting, but had I opened a thread each time I face-palmed because of stupid ppl then... ah well you get my point
just my 0.5$
cheers!

Yes the main thing is people should really learn to use the search bar at the top of every page. Its my best friend and has saved me when I got into a boot loop. Also if, for any reason whatsoever, you feel like your about to brick your phone by flashing a rom or a kernel or whatever, DONT DO IT. Plain and simple. DONT DO IT. You shouldn't be rooting if you don't hold the confidence to flash a kernel or rom and know your phone won't brick.

Seriously? I must be worng

wow i cant believe all the negativity!
I decided to poke around through some of the old threads here (only been on this forum since February) and i was shocked to see all the insults misconduct!
from the time i started tracking this forum i have seen nothing but nice and respectful people much like most of the other forums i frequent in xda.
I mean its not all too shocking this phone never got off the ground too much, anytime someone attempted and failed everyone attacked them for trying!
and when people did do some good they copy righted their work (HA!) so others cant use it? Okay i get it that no one should use anothers work without permission... but copyright pending :silly:
And maybe im mistaken but from what ive seen people were mostly using others hard work and then hardly giving them a highfive for it? i mean i never ask for thanks or donations or anything, really i dont care if people use my work or not, but i understand that many really want praise and they should get it when they work hard to make something.
Okay, like i said ive only been here a few months and i dont know the ins and outs of the Sidekick xda threads, but really a lot of childish bickering over nonsense... i guess im posting because im wondering if thats reall what this was like? i dont want to read every thread here but it sure appears to be an awful lot of name calling hair pulling. makes me think this kept good devs away....
eh just some thought, brakes done, time to get bake to studying for finals!
I think everyone posting is just in a constant bad mood because they have this really awesome piece of hardware, dated though it is, which is running an OS which keeps crashing on them 'cos they dared to open Google Maps or something else radical like that.
Yerp :/
I agree and I disagree.
aithnea may be right, but it doesn't make it okay. I have heard from many here that it was because of all the kids with their new SK4G barking orders and all the b****ing and complaining about progress. Now I won't lie, I am still hoping that something can pull through for us here with our Sidekicks, but I don't dare poke anybody around and bug them about leeway they have made. D: I don't like to deter the people we leave our hopes with on getting our device cooked up and made into the beauty it could be. I'm very greatful for RicAndroid and all of these cool new roms he has made, I give him many thanks and many props
As for the language, yes, horrible attitudes galore on these forums. I don't know how many times I have seen a member call a new member stupid or worse because they don't know where to start. I know they should look better, but come on. Be a little respectful huh?
I would love to get a taste of some real CM7 on the Sidekick, it truly is a good device, just we need that chance again. I wonder what bhundven is up to right now? 0.0
This forum is like any other: we need to be respectful and police ourselves. If we witness bad behavior, we should respectfully call it out or report it to the mods. When the devs go to the trouble of putting out ROMs or people answer each other's questions, we should at least thank them for it.
