Hey i just got a z710a unlocked model and im using it on At&t. made an apn with default settings and the 4g works pretty well but mms is a no go. i was wondering if anyone had got an apn setup that gets mms working with at&t. Did you guys have to S-off and install a custom rom? Thanks for the help. Back to the dreaded iphone till i can get this resolved.
cmaannnn, nobody?
I'm on T-Mo, but I get the feeling that you ought to be able to find MMS settings for other AT&T phones out there. I don't see why they wouldn't work on your phone, too?
I just fixed the MMS problem
I have an unlocked HTC Sensation 4G that I am using on AT&T. I figured out the APN settings for my phone today. After trying many differents settings. These work
Name: ATT (but may be AT&T or ATT WAP
<easy part to change> the rest is definite!!)
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80
Username: not set
Password: not set
Server: not set
MMSC: http mmsc.cingular.com (i can't post url's but this is a standard web addy)
MMS: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: 80
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: none
APN type: not set
Remember to hit the menu button and save the setting!!!!
Once, I put this APN code in I was able to send texts to email addys and download and send pics. I experienced a delay at first but I restarted the phone and everything works fine...now
I did do the perma-temp root when I first got the phone. But it didn't last long. I completely lost battery and the phone powered off and I lost it. I just haven't taken the time to try that one again. I want to do a permanent root but don't know if I know enough to perform it with screwing up my phone. But I hate the bloat..
wow, im rooted and using leedroid, and if i restart the phone i get the data connection for about a minute then i lose it. both with using the default settings and using the ones you just suggested

Anyone know what it is? I had mine set to Tmobile now I have no idea how to change it back (I think I've discovered a problem with MMS not sending when it's set on Tmobile APN... Just have to change it back to verify this).
I turned off boot emulation and it restored it after a reboot.
For other people, the default ATT APN is 310410.
I'd highly not recommend using Market Access to emulate it on boot.
Seems to have prevented some emails (data) from sending, as well as not allowing my MMS to send (but oddly enough... browsing and stuff still worked- which is why it took me so long to figure it out because it appeared data was working).

That is not the APN, that is the SIM card number.

310410 is AT&T network id.
Captivate also suffers from MMS problem if your phone is using 2G/EDGE.

I did not know about the MMS problem but being on 3G it works fine. What the heck...
Thanks for the info nbs11.
That saved me a lot of time.

What problem does it have with mms in 2g? Mine works just fine.

Doesn't really matterrs any more. JH7 update fixed it.
It won't send MMS on EDGE when picture size > 100KB.
Like the title says, since the second ROM I ever installed, (CM7 alpha 10 I believe) I have not been able to send/receive MMS on any combo of software , ICS or GB, kernel , etc. I have verified the APN's, still nothing... my plan allows unlimited, so unfortunate that I can't use it...Any ideas are welcome

I don't know if this helps or not, but It seems like people with American Carriers, or T-mobile tend to not have issues with MMS. I don't know if this would work, but maybe comparing APN settings and seeing if anything is missing may work?
Settings -> More.. -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names ->
at this point I had three or three options...
I assume they were: T-Mobile, T-Mobile Data, and T-Mobile MMS
Now since I use Simple Mobile, I had to change the T-Mobile to Simple Mobile with all the correct settings, and for MMS to work I also had to change the T-Mobile MMS APN with the same exact settings as the Simple Mobile APN.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
One other way you may try, after putting all the correct settings;
Where is says APN Type, write "mms" (without quotes)
Give it a try. Hope it helps.
Problem is, I'm on Bell Canada...

I'm on Wind and I cant neither send nor receive mms but I think my settings are correct since the phone detected it automatically. Any ideas ?
I am with O2 uk and also had this issue. I contacted them and they emailed their latest apn settings to me, which I copied in to my settings and my mms then worked fine. I think when some custom roms search for the apns automatically they pick up out of date settings. Just phone your carrier and ask for the apn settings for mms as if you are getting internet but no mms on several roms it can only be due to incorrect apn.

For those having trouble with Rogers, I wasted quite a bit of time trying to figure out why I couldn't send/receive MMS. Solution for me was this:
1. USE ONLY THIS APN, DELETE ALL THE OTHER APNS - For some reason, it conflicted and when I deleted all the other unnecessary APN's it worked great again. Here's what I used and ONLY this one for Rogers Canada. The internet.com apn doesn't work for me, fortunately I found this one that works!

AT&T versus T-Mobile corresponds to which SIM you picked when you purchased the service. If you selected the AT&T SIM, then use the AT&T APN, etc.

If you ask a question, it helps to speak in specifics. The guy who responded after you has the same problem, can't tell what APN he is talking about.
I personally would try the APN that came from the source (Straight Talk) first. But really, in the time you asked the question and waited for responses, you could have easily tried both (and then some) and see if they worked.
Sorry for being vague. I'm at work and trying to type fast. My problem is I get throttled often. My download speed is seriously 200k/ sec. I'm trying to find a better APN that maybe will help my situation. I have had this SIM card from ST for atleast a year. It is in my HTC One X. I cut the card down to fit. And don't get me wrong, sometimes i have decent speed. But it's never true 4g speed

Hey good looking out bro. These worked like a charm on my new SIM fro ST. Thanks again :good:
Hey all, Moto G US version owner here, and having trouble getting MMS working on at&t. I spent some time on the phone with them earlier and was more or less told that the phone wouldn't work right on network, or something to that effect. This was frustrating since everything else worked fine, and it is supposedly tailored for US networks after all. So I tried several different APN settings from online but to no avail. I even copied over the APN settings from my unlocked GS3 (which has no problems at all on at&t's network) and it still wouldn't work. I've contacted Moto's customer service as well and they've given me the number for Level 2 support, will be speaking to them soon.
I'm at a loss here.. yes, it is a new device and all, but is anybody else having this problem?
Try Handcent

I was able to sent text messages just fine, but not MMS photos. I installed Handcent and set the photo size to 100k and the messages went through. I'll be calling Tmobile tomorrow to make sure it's not a provisioning issue.
I'll update if a solution is found.

Prepaid? Last I remember prepaid doesn't support 4G devices for data. And MMS uses data, not wifi. And while I'm aware the MotoG can use 3G(I have mine on Verizon)...AT&T tends to lock down their better phones to 4G only to get users on the contract.
I could be mistake and that phone is supported, but I don't believe they run 4G on prepaid/gophone and hence you might not be able to run data.
As of 2012 they had an inner memo to their call centers saying that 4G devices, Rimms, and iPhones wouldn't be supported for Data any further.
Having same problem as original post
I'm having the same problem as original post, except I'm using StraightTalk. My Moto G is the US version - GSM (uses AT&T network). I've set it up to use the APN that StraightTalk provided. Browser works OK, so I know data services are working, but I can't send or receive MMS messages. I've also tried Handcent that was mentioned in this thread, but it still doesn't seem to be sending. I've also tried the AT&T APN settings from this thread, but no go. Not sure what else to do...
Please forgive me if this has been asked already multiple times, but I can't seem to find any recent answers that help.
I currently have Verizon for service and my wife and I each have the Verizon S3 phones.
A few days ago she had gone to the Tmobile website and saw the cheaper rates and ordered 2 sim cards for Tmobile service and signed up to have our numbers ported. Since then, our phones are not working and Verizon says once they get notified that you are cancelling your account, they automatically shut your phones off and then completely cancel you once the billing period is up, leaving us with no phones at all (we have no landline).
Our Sim cards are set to be delivered Tuesday and I need to know what, if any can be done to at the very least be able to get voice service with the Tmobile cards.
I can find older posts from 2013 about how to dial *#197328640# and go through an unlock procedure, but since my phone was bought August 2013 and now has Android 4.3 running I am also finding answers of people saying basically if you have 4.3 you are out of luck.
I am not new to flashing Roms or anything, I just need to be pointed in the right direction on what can and can't be done, like do I need to load a 4.1 Rom? I'm trying to at least have voice service until I can buy Tmobile phones if needed.
Thank you in advance for any information that can help.

I just changed service to T-mobile, got a micro-sim (full sized won't fit) and inserted it into my rooted Verizon S3 running PacRom 4.3 don't recall which nightly. Go into system settings->mobile networks->apn and confirm that t-mobile apns are present and selected (select one if not) and you should be connected, at least for voice. I currently have voice working, can receive sms/mms but not send and have edge level data connection, my understanding is the appropriate radios for t-mobile LTE aren't in the verizon version.
There are numerous useful threads around here, I'll try and find a few of them and link to them

Once my SIM cards arrived, I just popped one in and it didn't work. I ended up grabbing a friend's phone and plugged in the following APN settings and got everything but MMS messaging (still limited to EDGE data though). I never did the OTA 4.3, I'd read there was no going back at the time so the OTA upgrade is what prompted me to install a non stock ROM in the first place. So I think I upgraded from 4.1.
