[Q] Touchscreen problem... Not S.O.D. but almost... - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there.
Sorry for asking that if the subject has already been discussed before but I searched for a solution and didn't find anything for this particular one :-(
My problem is that the touch screen of the Transformer is being timed out sometimes...
There is no black screen and the tablet and display seem to work but not the touch screen... To avoid this problem, I must push the on / off button one time and then another time rapidly, then unlock the screen, and then it works with no problem for some times.
Some times, I let it sleep, I unlock it, and it doesn't work good for 10 seconds, until I can't touch anything more, so again, I must push the on / off button.
And some times, I am just playing with it and then it doesn't respond well and little to little, go to time out...
It is a really annoying bug.
I had this problem with 3.0 stock, 3.0 prime, 3.0 prime and clemsyn kernel, 3.1 prime and clemsyn kernel, 3.2 prime and clemsyn kernel...
I am really going to think it is a hardware problem ((((
My question : does someone here has the same problem / found a solution / know what is the problem / want to discuss about that ?
Thank you in advance.

I am having the same issue -- this is the most frustrating issue that I have with the TF and I have not been able to find a fix --
I have had this problem from 3.0 -to- 3.2 with all roms/kernels in between. It does seem like it is an issue with the capacitor-- any humidity or moisture causes it to go out of whack until I put it so sleep, then wake it back up.
I have one of the original batch of Transformers-

Yeah, I have one from the first batches that came in France too (arg, the problem appeared in writing this message pfff)

Only you and me with this really annoying problem??

I have the same problem, with stock rom.
Rebooting eventually fixes it, but sometimes several reboots are necessary.

After searching endlessly for a solution without any results, I thought about the touchscreen issues that I was having.
It occurred to me that the screen got particularly dirty very easily, was difficult to clean, seemed to register ghost touches, and (as odd as it may sound) the glass didn't feel very smooth. This is all in comparison to my iPad.
So... Even though I have heard mixed things about this, I took a chance and used some Rain-X on the touchscreen - works PHENOMENALLY!
After treating the screen and using the TF frequently for a week I have had absolutely no problems whatsoever. My TF screen is now just a smooth and responsive as my iPad and a hell of alot easier to clean.

keyboard dock issues, are they still around?

Hi guys,
I read about the keyboard isssues the transformer had. Like battery issues, trackpad issues, etc. For some of these issues it has to be send to Asus.
Recently I got one from a mate in the US, and I'm in China, so assume I cannot be helped in China (seriously, its next to impossible to get after market help in China).
So, are there firmware updates that resolve these issues before they become apparent, or do I really need to send it to asus for modification? Or have Asus addressed some of these issues already in the docks? If so, from what S/N onwards is this the case?
the one real issue is the dock prevents the tablet from going into deep sleep. so if you don't have battery issues with the dock, you don't need to modification. this "fix" however requires that you send the dock to asus.
i don't know what other issues you're talking about (you might want to be more specific)...but the only other consistent complaint with the keyboard is the lag when using in stock browser. this is a software issue, and not one with the dock.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
ok, thx. So deep sleep, is this doen automatically? is that the problem, or is it also present when I short-click the power button to switch off the display?
For teh other issues, yes, i think it was related to lag, an inresponsiveness. but if this is in-browser, an dnot a dock issue, then I'm not concerned.
i'm a bit confused what your question is.
if you're asking about how deep sleep works, then yes, the idea behind it is your TF will automatically go into it after a period of non-interaction, or if you press the power button.
unless of course you have an older dock...which prevents that from happening.
if you're asking if the fix is done automatically, no. you have to send the dock to asus because the fix is a hardware installation.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
ok, that answers my question. I always use the power button to switch teh screen off.
I have a problem with my dock : after putting the tablet into sleep with the power button while docked, I close the netbook. As soon as it is closed the screen lightens on (so it's no more sleeping and will undoubtly suck up on battery).
I think I already read a post about someone having the same problem, but I can't find it.

[Q] Xoom freezes and locks up at any moment.

I am not a noob when it comes to the Xoom. I haven't had a lot of time with it. I purchased it about 90 days ago from woot.com. It was a refurb. I had no problem rooting it and putting Tiamat 2.2 on it. After about a month of using Tiamat my xoom started freezing up. The only button that would work was the lock and unlock button. I thought maybe it was the ROM so I installed the stock ROM back on. I was able to do all of the over the air updates to ICS 4.0.3 just fine. Now the freezing continues. I have sent the tablet back to Motorola 2 times now and problem still persists. If I am playing a game, watching a you tube video, or clicking settings. The screen still has all the animations but, the touch is unresponsive for a good minute or two. I can press the lock screen and it locks. I can press to unlock it and the touch is unresponsive. until I lock/unlock three or four times. To make short question long, I am just curious if people have had the same problem. Pretty much Motorola can't or won't fix it. I was hoping somebody out there had or is having a similar problem. I have done all the reboots in the book and the problem is still there. I haven't been able to find any answers. If you need more info let me know. Are they treating me like this because I bought a refurb? Do they really not care that I have a $400.00 paper weight? Thanks for your time.
Quick Question, you stated you were using Tiamat 2.2. Do you mean the Kernal, or android version
The more detail about these we get the more we can help.
If you rooted and installed a ICS build, that may be the issue in of itself.
With both my Dinc and Xoom I have had issues with ICS doing this, mainly on things that require graphics/rendering. Normally plain text webpages are fine, but if they get graphic heavy or use a uncommon language, then it seems to make ICS act up.
As far as I know there is no actual fix as of yet.

Transformer White Screen Freeze

My Transformer has the same issues as everyone else; it's extremely laggy, apps crash, etc. But I also have this thing where every once in a while, if I click on something, my screen will go white with a line at the bottom and freeze. I have to restart the tablet to get it working again. I read through a lot of different threads and couldn't find anything. Is anyone else experiencing this?
I can't find any causes/solutions online. Any ideas?

I've had the same issue but haven't seen it in a couple days. I was told to cold boot it to solve the problem. After doing that, I haven't seen it again, but I haven't used it as much.
I am having the same issue. Started last night. Froze up first then a bit later went to white screen then rebooted. Today it froze up again...no white screen this time but could not access settings...the icon for settings was there but nothing else. Happen after reboot again...shut it down after that till now. Had been working fine. UPDATE is needed badly...I also have the Acer a700, that has been great so far...much better than this one.
Happened once to me too, i rebooted, and it has not happened since.

Haven't had the white screen return yet but I have had a recurring issue with freezing. Tablet was working last night when I put it down...this morning there was no internet connection. Went to settings to turn on wifi and it froze, just like before, only the settings logo and the word settings were visible. Received a message about the program not responding, my options were to close down or wait for program. When I got the white screen before it happened just as described above.
Here is the thing, installed the 9.4.5.26 20120720 firmware update earlier last night...I was hoping that was the fix for this issue but no such luck.

I had a freezing issue only once.
I installed and used an app that ran in compatibility mode.
It started portrait and I think there was no landscape mode at all.
But I tried to turn the tab for that mode and that was that...
Crashed.
So maybe check for running apps that are not compatible ?
My unit had a burning smell come out of the speaker. Memory has been running consistently high 560 - 690 ram. Now I just got the "white screen of death".
Unit is going back for a replacement.
I have been having the same problem. The past couple of freezes occurred whil using google chrome. I have decided to send it back for a refund (thank you Amazon!)
Too bad, I had anticipated the arrival of this tablet for so long.
I returned my first one for tv snow but i did notice that you can wait it out 15seconds or so. Its almost like it is coming out of a deep sleep coma
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk 2
Decided to send mine back today (froze again)... who knows how long before I get a replacement...I hope it has no issues or it will go back again and I will get another a700... which has been working great. Sucks because I have to suck up the cost of the screen protector...and buy another.

Worst purchase ever!
I really like Andoid, I currently have a Galaxy S3 phone and I don't have any problems. I really wanted an Android tablet and with the higher resolution the Infinity seemed like the one to get. I have had it for a month and I think this purchase is one of the worst I ever made. With the keyboard and accessories I have around $1000 invested in a tablet that only works part time. It crashes at least once a day while doing different tasks. Just now it was just sitting there on the locked screen and the screen went to all white. Holding the power button didn't do any good and I had to use the reset button. I feel like I wasted my money and I don't know if I should avoid Asus products or if Android tablets suck, the problem might even be with Jelly Bean. I don't like Apple at all but I really wish I had bought an iPad.
this has happened to me three times in the last day, and each time while i tried to play an MP3 and read a Kobo book at the same time. (don't get me started on why a $500 tablet can't play music and display text AT THE SAME TIME. what the hell).
i'd start the track, load up kobo, and BOOM: white screen. i think i know why: all my music was in internal storage. for the hell of it, i moved all my tunes to the microSD card. and no more white screen, i can read and listen to tunes at the same time.
go figure.

I've been having this happen a lot. Essentially, I have two things happen:
1. In some app (Firefox, Redfin (we're house hunting), etc) and click something. Tablet freezes. Click something again, and it resets. The next thing you see is the black screen w/ Asus logo.
2. Same as above, but first you get a full white screen for ~10 seconds. THEN it reboots and you see the black screen w/ Asus logo.
It happens at least once an hour under heavy use of the tablet (lots of app switching, browsing the web, etc).
I have:
1. Cold booted.
2. Upgraded to JB.
3. After upgrading to JB, I reset cache and everything *multiple* times before installing all new apps.
Is this a known issue, or are the few people complaining about it just F'd?
I am seeing this too. Not sure what else to do with this issue?, Exchange? I want to believe this is software, but where does that leave me?

I have this issue under Jelly Bean, but never had it happen under ICS. If you are in the same boat, an exchange will likely not help. Your best bet is either to put on a different firmware, or get a different unit all together (ie, not Asus).

The problem is that Asus decided to use a cheap nand chip that has slow i/o speeds which causes the lag. It's not a problem with android. Have a look at a note 10.1 if you want to see a lag free tablet.
Still, I flashed a new rom, and its much improved. And no white screens so far with a few hours of use.
White screen is a known issue with JB, it's not hardware issue. We just have to wait for another update from Asus. They promised to release a new one soon to address, keyboard, wifi and camera issues, but did not mention about white screen issue. We just have to wait and see. If white screen issue is bothering you too much, just down grade back to .30.

i'm getting this white screen with heavy use - sometimes a couple times a day. never had the problem with ICS. definitely a post-JB thing. it's gotta be a software issue not a hardware problem. a fix will come. in the meantime.....

[Q] TF101 unresponsive touchscreen

So one day my TF101's touchscreen just became unresponsive. No matter what I try, I cannot get any kind of response from the touchscreen. However the track pad still manages to work. Any thoughts or ideas on how to fix this problem, or is anyone having a similar problem? I am currently running the latest Revolver Rom and a stock kernel. There is also no physical damage to the tablet that would lead me to believe that it is a hardware issue.

My TF101 suffers from this and it had me stumped for a while. I determined it was a hardware problem when I got so frustrated, i started doing "impact engineering." I gently pressed on various places along the back of the tablet and somehow reengaged the touchscreen connectivity. To this day, it still cuts in and out, but pressing the back of the tablet in different places ultimately reengages it. I'd send it back for repair, but the tablet is about 18 months old and I am probably just going to buy something new in the next 6 months or so anyway. If yours is newer, you should probably RMA it.
FWIW, the area on the back that seems to reengage the touchscreen is the rear upper left when you are holding it in landscape mode with the front camera top/center.
Good luck!

[Q] Asus MemoPad FHD10 (Me302C) screen problem.

Hit here.
I have a Asus MemoPad FHD10 for a while now.
Lately, the screen has been giving some errors. This happens randomly, and after keep pressing the power button it reboot back to normal again. The tablet never fell down.
Has anyone experienced this problem with the FHD10?
I have attached a picture to better ilustrate the problem.
Thanks for your help.

Same problem here. How did you solve it (in case you did it)?
I hope there is a solution...
Same problem
I have more than a 120 ME302c ASUS tablets in my company I have the same problem with many of them. I have sent a few of the tablets for repair but got it back with the same problem. They didn't fix it.
I wished this was the only problem with this tablet. It has so many problems that I would never recommand someone to purchase it.
Screens break quickly (I had a few just cleaning the screen and it broke. Repairing it costs almost the same as buying a new one)
Many of the tablets have charging problems. Charging during the night and they only have 10-15% battery.
The micro USB connector is too sensitive making the charger connection wobble.
Now I have a 15-20 tablets with a fatty like liquid between the touchscreen and the LCD screen.
Many of them just turn off and on whenever they want.
Worst tablet I have ever seen.
I need a back cover for my ME302C

Hi jptib,
I have a asus memo pad FHD10 (ME302C) and it works fine. But in a couple of days ago, i dropped the tablet, and broke the back cover.
So if you don't want 1 or 2 tablets, can you sell them in parts? And sell me 1 or 2 back covers?
By the way, i'm from Portugal.
Best regards.

I have the exact same problem, but only started to experience this after updating the firmware to v5.0.21-20140701.
The tablet is only new for me and didn't produce the fault in the first few weeks. My guess is perhaps a firmware bug (if others are using this same code version) or a hardware problem that is produced over time & use....
Does anyone have a current support ticket with Asus?
I have the same issue from time to time. When my tablet does this it is sometimes accompanied by a loud buzzing sound.
I am on latest firmware and rooted, not sure if that might contribute to it (I rooted from day one).
Same issue on ME102A
I have ASUS MeMO Pad 10 (ME102A) and it makes the same effect randomly like in the first post. Sometimes the screen goes black, or the image begins to run. I made a video about the problem:
I opened a service request. I wondering if they could fix that.

Yes, it's definitely not a software problem.
A well-wisher who's nickname is Zadok, sent me a very useful message:

In the linked video isn't a MeMo Pad 10, but the video-flexcable and it's connector are the same. When I opened the device, the bigger part of the flexcable was visibly cca. 0.5 mm wide dislocated. In fact, it wasn't in place. So I opened the connector, both connectors of course. Then I pulled out the flexcable, and I pushed it back. Finally I closed the tablet, and since then there is no problem.
I'm very glad, and I'm thankful to Zadok for the helpful tip.
This company has the worst support ever. I sent in my Memo Pad 10 for the screen flickering problem, (told them I already reset it a few times only to have the problem come back), all they did was reset it and send it back. I hardly used the thing, of course the problem is still there and my warranty is up. Guess I will have to pull it apart and fix it myself because their technicians are incompetent and the company built it poorly. I called them to see if they would correct the issue they didn't fix in the first place, no luck.
same problem too!
