Anyone found a good option for a motorcycle mount?
I have found a few.
One encases the whole unit in a waterproof case
Another that hold it upright on the handle bars
and the otterbox one.
Anyone have any real experience with any of the mounts available?
Yeah man, what I did was I bought a sidecar, and i superglued a car mount in that.
From what I have seen in some cycle online groups, RAM Mounts (google that, they'll pop up) seem to be pretty highly regarded. The are not, however, the least expensive option but they work well. It looks like they offer a sealed box and mount combo.
I have the one from "slipgripcarmounts.com" works really well.
RAMS look excellent but their pricey.
Thanks for the ideas!
Due to the Epic screen not working that well through gloves, I would really like to find one that would allow the keyboard to slide open while mounted. I have yet to find anything for this model though.
If I can't find anything soon I think i'll have to make one. I've already thought up a good design, i just have to figure out how to make it or convert one of the existing ones.
Hopefully something already exists and I just have yet to find it.

I understand the issue. I thought about that too but then realized I wouldn't be able to work the keyboard with my gloves on either. So I just cut off the tip of the right index finger on my riding gloves.

So, what about when it rains? ziploc?
Fortunately I live in socal so I probably won't have to worry about that as much...just curious though

Found the switch. on the fuze it's a little white switch that towards the top of where the stylus is. I used a toothpick like it said in the other thread to reset it and the stylus works fine now. I read that the stylus is supposed to lock the phone when inserted? Is there anywhere that has documention of any other little hidden tricks this phone can do?

Hi,
Great that you've fixed your issue using my tips from the mentioned thread. I wanted to add to your knowledge that NOT the Raphael is magnetic but the stylus itself is. Test it for yourself. You can pick up paperclips without using your fingers! So there is no point in returning your phone when the magnet seems worn out. Just replace the stylus.
Scott
Actually if you look in the service manual there is a magnet inside the stylus cradle, probably the stylus itself becomes magnetised after contact with the magner. Sorry to contradict you but you know the facts is the facts.

Hey,
You're right. Tested it with a paperclip. At some point you can feel it being "grabbed" by the magnet. Indeed, the stylus propably gets magnetized due to the internal magnet.
And no hard feelings for contradicting me. That's the whole point of xda-developers, collaboration of many to dissect our PDA's!

I tested it, and the magnetism is way too strong for it to have been magnetized by the phone.
I think both the phone and stylus are magnetic.
I was going to make a flash video but it didn't work out for me. So the only other thing I could do was upload it in wmv. Anyone want to tell me how to make it a flash video and embed it be my guest.

How does it feel taking it out of your pocket? Is it grippy or pretty smooth?
Thanks.

It's more smooth than I thought it would be. I was expecting more tackiness but honestly it slips in and out of my pocket very easily.
Good vid, looks like an ok case and all that.. but one thing I do not understand...
WHY does it have the holes in place to allow for access to the dock pins, when there is NO WAY you are going to get it into the doc to use those connections with the case on?

I've never quite understood why manufactures continue to make those holes knowing full well their cases will never dock. I guess because there will always be assholes out there that will see the lack of docking holes and just not buy it or complain because they think it's incomplete or their missing out on access to the pins.

You know I never even thought of that. Unless they plan on making a dock that can make use of the holes they are kind of pointless. Well it's at least good to know the pointless holes in the case line up well!!
I was looking for a case that i could take with me to work so i would not worry about the phone, i'm a gardener and it is inevitable that i get dust and dirt in and around my pockets so i wanted something that would stop this from happenening to my nice new phone.
I tried the pdair leather flip case which isn't great and i had to put it in a pouch before putting it in their in order to keep the dirt out.
But then i saw on here someone saying that a small portable harddrive case may actually fit the sgs well. I did a bit of amazon research and found this case.
amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0037PSQD8/ref=oss_product
The only knock on this case in the reviews was that it was a bit small for a regular portable harddrive and i can confirm after trying to squeeze my seagate freeagent into it that it is a bit tight.. But.. It fits the galaxy S like a dream, and because it has a zip it is extremely good at keeping crap out of the case. Being neoprene it is also pretty protective and i wouldn't worry so much about it if it did take a fall. Also it is fairly water proof. It's well made and fits the with or without a bumper case.
It also has another smaller zip pocket in the side with is ideal for carrying a bit of cash around in. So even though it does bulk up the phone size a little if you use it like a wallet it somehow doesn't seem so clunky.
Just thought i would pass this on for any one looking for a similar solution, and to be honest at £2.49 down from £20 it is an absolute bargain.
Enjoy.
Great idea...
I'll be using my phone as main mp3 player too - is it possible to route headphones in to headphone socket, while maintaining most of the functionality of the case?
I've not got my handset yet either, but I'm guessing there's no space to store an extra microsd under the battery cover? There isn't on my X1, but on other handsets I've had in the past I could, seem to remember being able to on my N95.

Thanks for the heads-up. Have ordered one - just need to order the handset now!
I'm looking for a 'screen protector' for the keyboard. Similar to what comes on the phone when they are new.
I haven't been able to find any online, does anyone know of one available?
There's isn't really a keyboard protector out there. There's only a rubber case that includes a rubber case for the keyboard.
I ordered myself one of these,
http://cgi.ebay.com/White-Silicone-...151471?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item255fdda62f
I recommend the light colors so you'll be able to see the keyboard and know what you're pressing. I made the mistake of buying the black one and I can't even see what I'm typing in light. Only when its dark you'll see the keyboards black light.
I am thinking about making my own template for a keyboard cover that will cover the exposed areas around the edges of the keyboard as well as in between each key... in fact, now that I've read this, I'm going to start working on it right now.
if I get something worked out that is functional, I'm not opposed to loaning you my template so you can create your own custom cover. I'm planning on making it a one piece template and using one of the ZAGG screen-cover blanks that you can buy from office supply stores for simplicity's sake.
if it works, I'll post a write-up.
Wont this result in a less haptic keyboard?
I mean, this Phone is bought because of the nice keyboard and when you put something over it, it isnt as good as before?!
the silicon "cover" would, in my opinion, make the keyboard less usable, but a thin strip of film won't affect its function.
to each his own!
I've still got the factory one on mine, but it is barely hanging on so thought i'd replace it. Will make a perfect template hopefully.
Whats the best way to cut it out?

you lucky dog!! I have been using tissue paper and drawing it with a pencil, haha.
since you already have a perfect template, I would just use a craft knife of some sort. a steady hand and some patience should yield a pretty decent template.
I'm using something similar to this
i can scan it in if you'd like and post it up, might save you some time?

Lol why would you waste your time doing that. You could just buy a silicone case that has the keyboard cover and use that template! Unless you're too cheap to buy one

I guess I could do that, but then I have to wait for it to ship, and then I have a silicon case that I don't want. just seems wasteful, and I'm not a wasteful person. good idea for others who want to try and do the same thing though.

Thanks everyone!
Haven't tried that one, but this one looks pretty similar and got a great review (though it's not available yet).

(you gotta add the www's to the front of the links, since I can't post links yet)
They have a suction cup one of these too that I meant to get for my Vibrant. I always looked in the cell section of stores like best buy when I was there, but never took the time to order from amazon. They get great reviews everywhere I looked.
I got an OEM one for the G2X and it works very well. I love that it has a sensor to put the phone into car mode automatically when docking. I know thats not new but after buying 3 flagship phones this is the first one that actually has this feature.
I guess the big advantage to the clingo is you can use it with a case.

This looks really cool too! I might pick it up for watching video at the poker table and as a bedside stand. I seriously doubt most people will be toting it around and reconfiguring it for each and every task throughout the day as their video suggests. Maybe I'm just not cool enough to own one yet, those people all looked pretty cool...
The Clingo stuff works really well actually. Leaves no sticky residue and if you start losing stick (after about 3 weeks), just use a lint free cloth and water to clean the surface and the sticky comes right back.
I only got rid of my Clingo for the one that mounts into your CD player slot.
there's a comment about the oona suction cup won't work well with the g2x because of the google strip on the back cover. anyone tried any type of suction cup with this phone before? i don't have one to try.
