where/how did you get 7720 running on your phone?

False rumor. I can tell you for certain this is not the case.

How did you get 7720 in the Focus ???

Can we please not wait and you be so kind to provide a photo of the About screen (I'm sure you can avoid the MAC and SIM ID) without editing it?

i could care less about tethering, i'm more interested in getting build 7720.

I don't doubt that it's a feature of the 7720 RTM build but I doubt that anyone has it at this point. Only a very select few at Microsoft have this build at this point is what I undersand.

I stand corrected, this guy knew something although this is about Omnia7 not Focus. Nice, anyway
Read here:
We spotted the mysterious HTC Mazaa today running WP7 Mango 7220 which is the RTM build. A tipster just sent in an image of About Screen of a Samsung Omnia 7 (GT I8700) device which shows the build number as 7220. Image after the break.
(He meant 7720 ofc) There's no mention of internet sharing feature but I guess we'll find out soon enough.
In the meantime, here's the photo:

the htc mazza is one of the mango developer devices given out to the micorosft app contest winners, what does that have to do with the omina 7 having a 7720 build out in the wild?
like i said, i'll believe it when i see it (as in i can download 7720 and flash it to my focus.)

In both cases the source is WMPU. Mazaa proves a 7720 build exist. Also, if you actually read the two articles, they say there are more devices. I quote:
We've talked about the Microsoft sponsored student contest here and here before. The winners are to be given brand new Mango devices, which of course raised all sorts of questions e.g. what phone, is Mango RTM'd, etc. Well, we now know the answer to all of those.
They don't specify what brand the Mango devices are.
The point is not about you being right or wrong or convincing you, but if the build 7720 existed and if it has internet sharing, as per the thread's title.
Take it anyway you want, but build 7720 exists. What features it contains, remains to be seen.

i never doubted the existence of 7720, everyone knows that it is the rtm build for mango, i'm doubting the validity of the screenshot of it on the omina7, as it is clearly a fake screenshot.
as for tethering, msft has stated that the OS is capable of it, but it's up to the carrier to allow it.

I guess this is what most people doubt about "I'm upgrated Focus to 7720 build"
7720 indeed existed and already live on new devices (Mazaa, IS12T, etc), and I'm sure as hell everyone here already know it.
But getting it on Focus (OP said Focus, not Omnia, not Mazza) NOW, it's what we doubt.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending the OP and I didn't say I believe, as in the first page of the thread I said "I think this is a hit'n'run for fame". However, after really looking at the Omnia pic, it's a fake so we can take that out of discussion. As for Focus, it's probably possible only on MS dev/test devices. For now.

exactly. while people who work for msft can get their devices updated to rtm supposedly, i doubt any of them are going to go on xda and make posts like the OP.

Well ... the 7720 RTM already leaked here and already run on Omnia 7 (maybe focus too)

Well my dad's, brother's, uncle's, cousin's, sister's, best friend's, nephew's, dog groomer, said probably in about 2 hours, but that would just be plain gossip and I don't like to spread rumors. Hey, slightly related to this topic... has it been definitively proven that HTC has officially released a 6.1 ROM?
As far as I know the 6.1 HTC Roms that were posted (original/updated) are not actually official ones... is that correct?
AT&T 6.1 Rom
As always AT&T hears their customers and strives to bring the latest roms they can get their hands on for their WM devices. So when Microsoft anounces
the release date of WM 7.0 AT&T should be ready to release 6.1 , It is a small lag time. But they (AT&T) need the extra time to load the "BLOAT" I mean "GREAT PROGRAMS" they know we all are waiting for.
Pie souds great and with some milk will be better
Is 6.1 for the Tilt getting near?
The 1.62.502.0 official ROM is no longer available on the HTC website.

Is this an indication of something to come? Or are we getting played with again?

WM6.5 - Will we have it on the Snap?

Are there any plans for this from HTC?
Will we be able to upgrade the rom?
Probably not from HTC.. but thats what XDA is for!
Once people start buying the Maple in the U.S. (its going to be on practically every carrier) then you won't have to worry about HTC's ROM updates.
I'm sure someone will cook up a great ROM for the Maple once the device becomes popular- and it will.
maybe u can help us find a stock rom.
i already sent out the word to NRZ..he's gonna look into it
and mbavarian already took interest in the device. he made a thread about it..check it out!

You never know. When the original Dash came out we got an official upgrade from WinMo 5 to 6 a few months later. Maybe they will do the same for the Dash 3G from 6.1 to 6.5. Talking about the T-Mobile versions of course.

I have an actual HTC Rep through my Sprint Sales rep here in the US. We'll name him DP. I have access to HTCChampions.com and have yet to find any indication of this, i've requested the information from DP himself, and hope to hear back soon.
*Edit:
I just received a call, he said the only phone slatted for the Windows Mobile 6.5 Upgrade that he's aware of is the TouchPro2. Truthfully it sounded like he didn't know himself, he stated that the version of Windows 6.5 only brought a second browser (Opera) to avoid the "Anti-Trust" issues Micro$oft has been facing. He said that he has spoke to Sprint Corp and they've decided to hold of till Windows 7 before making any large changes.
PS, he called back with the information, and i was unable to get it recorded
Believe what you will, but between the HTC Site and his comments the only versions of 6.5 will be those that are cooked here.

Let me copy and paste an extract from the front page of this great site:
"Welcome to XDA-Developers.com
This site is mostly about certain PDA-phones, made by a firm called HTC in Taiwan. They called them 'Wallaby', 'Himalaya', 'Blue Angel', 'Wizard' and 'TyTN', but almost nobody knows them by those names. They are sold through mobile operators that give them their own names. We got our first such phone as 'XDA', hence the name of this site.
Since we developed software for these phones, we needed very specific technical information. When we started xda-developers, neither Microsoft, nor HTC nor the mobile operators seemed eager or even willing to give it to us. So we 'reverse-engineered' the devices, found a lot of information, and shared it with the world. But as our site grew we realised that lots of ordinary users were also suffering from a lack of support. They started using the xda-developers forum to communicate and before long the forum was as much a user forum as it was a developer forum."
This is an HTC devices only forum, that is the position of the owners which I support.
Hope you still be visiting us here, if not would be a shame...

That statement was made ancient time ago, and when the old timer doesn't have much PDA phone choice.
So as this site grew that statement is strongly not appropriate anymore. Do you agree?
Worst thing, O2 aka maker of the original XDA already close-down for good.
Does this mean XDA-developers.com need to close-down as well? (I hope not)
If it does, it'll be really shame as lots of ppl love this site, including me.
Byw,grabbing hard on HTC foots does not earn anyone a single dim or any mercy at all.
XDA foot? Door closed long ago. Wake-up!
That will be a decision of the owners, which I think it won´t change...
p.s. As far as I know O2 has been buyed by Telefonica (Spain) and still alive
okay

Yes the web article from wmpoweruser reported correctly,
Samsung Omnia-2 indeed the first multi-language Windows Mobile phone.
Hooray! It's a good news for most WM phone users.
Although this language changing operation from English to others lang took about 10 minutes include a HARD RESET, but think it's worth while to invest in for users in Europe.

@pilot, that is my opinion and is very valid, as yours or any other, here we always try to make discussions and opinions respecting each other.
And not all know this is an HTC forum, so making that clear is good.
The WWW is large enough to visit other places and find what other manufacturers are puting on their devices, I think on this site as an HTC specialized forum and that´s because I´m here, if I need any other devices comparative I can go to off topic or visit any other site.
We all (or most of all) have experience enough to do that.
So my point of view does not change, I have some time here and I think this site is large enough with the devices are included here to add more...
Yes comparatives to others brands are ok but in it´s proper place.
Anyway not you or me will decide this, for that we have a great Mod team!
Thank you very much, NewForce. I am highly interested in another phone which has the exact same CPU (B7610), so this is very helpful to me.
The looks good but the memory is to little for wm phone Im I right the first omnia was slow becouse of the low memory

at the moment i think they are still trying to get LINUX working on a HD2, once thats been done (there has been some break through) then they can start looking at porting Android...its gonna take a fair while yet , if (and its a big IF) its even possible.
Working Kernel
htc_linux
So where are all the #android builds for #hd2 ? Now that we have the working #linux kernel, chefs are letting android fanboys down
That's from the htc_linux Twitter account.

Proof? As the HD2 is out for more than half of a year now and nobody has been able to get Linux/Android working properly on HD2, it definitely seems to be imppossible.

are you living on mars or something? you suggest others go search before posting, but don't have a clue what's going on here yourself? - they have already managed to get a somewhat working kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=651632

ofcourse not, but it's surely not impossible. The hard part was having a working kernel which they do now. it should be easier from now on.
FAQ
*the tmobile us hd2 is the same htc leo as sold in different places in the world. the advertised hardware differences are only marketing talk
*It's known that there are problems booting the kernel with certain AMSS versions. with 2.08 or newer radios it works
*To write a driver for the leo touchscreen we are looking for a datasheet. Name is "Elan B81_". <<<=== any help still welcome
*We are basing on the htc nexus one and codeaurora kernel now. we are aware there are kernel sources for other qsd8k devices (incredible/desire/bravo/..)
*Many drivers are working already and at some point we will have a very good port
*Yes, android will work

saying something "is impossible" around xda is not a good idea. typical n00uewb mistake. no offence! now that the htc increadable is out.. i would say a future with android on the hd2 got alot closer

I think most people in this thread, myself included, even if they would like to see Android ported to the HD2, are tired of people asking the same question over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over again.
I went to tmobile at the mall and i had asked them if i could play with the hd2 before buying one, and the guy had android on his... i'll try to go back and get pics or vids of it.
htc evo has got the same mother board of htc hd2...just let's wait some porting . that's it (who really wants android, can sell his own hd2 and buy an android)

Maybe someone who is a client of T-Mobile USA will ask them about it?..with official e-mail?
What's the point? To force them order a JB update from HTC? It is unlikely to happen. Manufacturers are used to provide just a couple minor updates for the device and give up with their support efforts. They are pushing customers rather to buy a new hardware than to long-term use of a single device. So it is about 99.99% that there will be no official ICS/JB update for doubleshot.

Someone already posted a message from one of T-Mobile's codemonkeys stating that we're not going to get official ICS because "it would ruin the experience of the phone." Which means HTC and T-Mobile both have abandoned what was supposed to be a flagship phone.
Probably never. Even from day 1, it seemed as if Tmobile abandoned ship and headed to the Amaze, Sensation, etc.

Just for the record, the 4G Slide was never regarded as a flagship phone. Just a high end refresh of a mid-tier phone. Sure it has the same internals as a flagship and an amazing camera, but T-Mobile never marketed it as such, nor did HTC
Also, this thread is repetitive and unnecessary.

So long story short... nothing

Yup, just a scripted response.
The thing is I'm sure they'd have to update Sense as well, it'd make no sense to update to 4.0 and have outdated Sense weighing everything down. So they'd have to update that, then the OS on a phone that hasn't been shown much interest in the first place.

It has been said rime and time again that the mt4gs has been left in the dust with the updates. Its ashame because I love this phone it just has a lack of intrest of others because of the sensation and others released as well. But good thing is that we have a few dedicated devs that make these things possible regardless

HTC would rather abandon products. Even Samsung has announced it will update the Captivate Glide (a QWERTY 4" lower-end phone) to ICS on Nov. 10. This is definitely my last HTC product, they've screwed me twice now (this phone and my Flyer tablet). Not again.

Come over to the Relay 4G. Minus the camera/track pad it's better in every way..
I love beating a dead horse just as much as the next guy, but...
Can we let this topic go already?
We all know there's no update coming.

I second that suggestion - korny even has cm9 and supposedly 10 booting already as well... we just need to get more development going and a forum of our own lol.

I have a friend who knows a guy that is dating the sister of some dude that works for T-mobile and he says that we most likely won't see an ICS or JB on our device.

I would definitely miss the camera we have here, though.
I'm eyeing for the samsung Stratosphere 2 which is coming sooner this month. I think that phone is far superior than the relay 4g in any way. And has also a better camera. Anybody heard of it? And yeah it has 4G LTE, 8mp Main camera and 2mp front facing camera. It also has S4 processor and a 1GB RAM.
