I know people have gotten the market update OTA, but I don't recall any from TMOUS. If you have received it, when, and where are you located? I'm in Las Vegas and haven't received it yet. In case you're wondering, I downloaded the APK already. I just want to know if it's been rolled out. I tried to search from my phone, but it searches every single forum, not just the Sensation forum. There is already a thread about this, I'd appreciate a point in the right direction.
Thanks

I live near Chicago, just received the 1.45.531 (android 2.3.4) update, but still have the old market (v2.3.6). My completely uneducated guess is that either HTC or TMOUS have yet to make an agreement with Google on some feature or other...

Hi, all.
I'm a new Inspire owner, an I'm going crazy trying to download an app from Android Market. When I finally was able to get the download started, a message popped up saying that I have a Desire HD and it's not supported by my provider, and it refused to download.
I looked through the settings and found "About phone," and under that "Phone identity." Here it says, correctly, that my Model number is HTC Inspire 4G.
So why does the download process think I have a Desire HD, and can I change it? This isn't the first time I've seen my device recognized as a Desire HD. I also see a lot of posts here saying "Posted from my Desire HD." I suspect that these are Inspire users having the same thing going on.
What can I do?
Thanks!
P.S. If anyone can tell me how to search the forums for this issue, I'd be happy to do so. Since the early days of forums, I've never been able to figure out how to search for a phrase. Is it possible? I tried several searches here, and kept coming up with 999 hits.
The Inspire is the US version of the Desire HD.

Yes, I was aware that they were the same thing, or close to it. The Inspire is also (of course) the AT&T version. The issue is that some software apparently isn't smart enough to know that. Thus it claims that AT&T doesn't support the Desire HD; I assume that if my device were identified as an Inspire, it would be just fine.
Thanks for the quick response!
Might I ask what app you are trying to download?

I just discovered that when I email, my phone is correctly identified as an Inspire 4G!
Actually, this is all academic now, since I was able to download the apk from the EasyTether home page. I really would like to know what was going on here, though....

About easytether, obviously you missed all the tech sites reporting that ATT, T-Mobile, and Verizon blocking the tethering apps from the Market on their devices. Since you wanted it, you were right to sideload it. As for the other issue, not sure, but I just changed my Sig from this app to read Inspire.

Not only that, but if you try to install apps from the web based market, and it asks you which device you want to install to? The Inspire is listed as a Desire HD. Just like the MyTouch 4G is listed as the Glacier, and the G2 is listed as the Vision.
Before the MR2 update came out I sent their customer support an email complaining about the random reboots and data connectivity being crap and about gingerbread and they gave me the typical generic answer we are aware of the issue and working on giving thunderbolt owners gingerbread soon and they were sorry for the problems with my reboots. So far since the MR2 update I have had no reboots and my data connectivity has been better but after hearing the Droid Incredible 2 got gingerbread today and the fact this phone came out after the thunderbolt I sent them another email in regards to this and the fact we have heard litterally nothing on their end about any status with the gingerbread update or when we could possibly see it and they responded
The Thunderbolt update is available to be pulled to the device. To pull the update go to Menu> Settings> System updates> Firmware update. If you are unable to update the device please wait for the FOTA update.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
To send a reply to this message or let me know I have successfully answered your question log in to our ContactUs site using your email address and your ticket number xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

He was refering to the MR2 that just came out, nothing about my question on gingerbread or how the Incredible 2 got it before the thunderbolt. Fail
smh I didnt know Droid Incredible 2 came out after the TB. Smh its like htc or Verizon dont give a **** about this phone
Perhaps you would have gotten satisfaction if your message was properly punctuated, clearly written, and presented in some organized fashion?
My message to them was accurate, and clear and I pretty much asked them about gingerbread and how the Incredible 2 was able to get it before thunderbolt when the incredible 2 came out after the thunderbolt. I also mentioned how they haven't mentioned anything in regards to the thunderbolt or given us at least a status update. From other forums I've read they just give the standard We are excited about the Operating System 2.3 Gingerbread update coming for Android, and while HTC will definitely have some phones running this Operating System, we do not have a specific time but it will be soon and what I posted was the response I got back from them.

Ah, I see. I assumed that your OP was verbatim. I couldn't really read it, as it had one period for about 15 different sentence fragments.
As a beleaguered technical support engineer, I had sympathy and could understand how some core points would have been ignored.
Not intended as flamebait. Your response above was more digestible.

And this contributed what exactly to this conversation? and you do realized this is a forum and not twitter?
I've used a downloaded RUU to "fix" my first failed root attempt and it was a lifesaver. Now the Gingerbread update for the Inspire 4G has 'leaked" but my simple question is, where do these come from in the first place? Do they come direct from HTC (like I imaging) and if they do, how can I get ahold of them without relying on less than great sources?
They ultimately come from HTC. The leaked RUUs are probably from employees of HTC. They are signed by HTC so you know that they haven't been tampered with.
To get hands on one, you should go to the service center and request for one ,maby they will agree, maby they will need to be offered a little price

I just upgraded my t-mobile (usa) sensation 4g to the new ICS 4.0.3. I have read a lot about the new People app replacing the old Contacts app, but my phone does not seem to have it. Only the older Contacts shows in the app drawer. Does anyone know if People was even part of the update? Is anyone using People on the 4g? Would someone that just recently upgraded their Sensation 4g (usa) to ICS take a look in their app drawer and see if it is listed.
Thank you very much!
s
Nope, I do not have the "People" app, still the old "Contacts" app from GB
Thanks Djc5581! Maybe that's just the way it was shipped. Odd that I haven't seen anything about people complaining about it absence. Reading the ICS reviews (not for the T-mo update) it seemed that it was a substantial change to the whole contacts approach.
Maybe someone else has heard something.
Thank you for taking the time to respond!
regards,
s
Just got my OTA Jelly Bean update last night. I am on Cincinnati Bell carrier here in Ohio. So far I am happy with it. Seems a bit more smooth and faster. Not a whole lot of new features, but glad I did the update. Will keep posting if I run into any problems or issues with this update. Anyone else out there in the area getting the OTA?
Not yet. In Texas. Crazy you have one but T-Mobile still slacking

Can you pull the update.zip and upload it here?
It is crazy that I have it on Cincy Bell. Usually it is slow getting updates on this carrier. I could upload the update but not sure how to pull it off my phone. I see it in my downloads folder. I hook up my phone to the computer, but cant see downloads anywhere. If someone can tell me how to pull it and upload it here I would be more that happy to share.

I think its located in /cache, in the root directory. but you will probably need root access to get to your file system to copy the file. Don't quote me on that thought, you can try to get to the file without root first if you have time.
I would also like the OTA as I am on Cincinnati bell as well please.

We received and updated Saturday night/Sunday morning. Was also surprised to see CBW beat T-Mobile on the update. So far we have been happy. JB has fixed an issue I had with the latest swiftkey update (jumping cursor) The one thing that we have noticed though is that battery life has been diminished with "Android OS" consuming considerable amounts of battery life. I guess the diminished battery life is a 4.1.1 thing. Not holding my breath for HTC (and CBW) to follow up with a 4.2.2 update.
Chris.
Jelly Bean Update
I live in Fairfield Ohio and received the OTA update late Sunday night. It took less than an hour to download and install. So far it appears that everything works. Hard to believe Cincinnati Bell could get this right. I did not expect to see this update for months.
Has anyone extracted a copy of the zip or found the URL from HTC for this?
You'd think there would be more than two people with the update here.

First wave of updates from a small regional carrier? I'm not too surprised to see that there's only a handful of people reporting about it.
Questionable
The mere fact that 2 users are here to report getting it on Ohio is questionable.
And why I am also questioning is neither of them posting the update zip?
I know as soon as I get it I will upload it.
Believe what you want. I got the update to Jelly Bean and cannot post the update zip because my phone is not rooted. I cannot pull the file off my phone without being rooted. Why would I lie about getting this update. That would just be stupid!
Just took a screen shot of my phone!
I haven't tried getting the OTA update as I have been using CM 10/10.1 since I bought my One S back in September from CBW. I did have a question though regarding an RUU. I was considering grabbing the RUU based off CBW's but I'm not exactly sure which one to use. I came from a Moto Droid X which I grew accustomed to SBF'ing and HTC's method is unfamiliar to me. Could someone possibly point me in the right direction?
On a side note, to those with the OTA update: have you noticed an improved reception/wifi singal strength with the update? I'm debating if its worth it to RUU to stock, grab the OTA, and re-root to move back to 10.1 in case there was a radio update along with it.
There would almost certainly be a firmware update (with radio) in a major OTA like that. It should be a full ROM update.
If you're up to it, going back to stock to grab the OTA file would certainly be welcome here.
As for which RUU to use, that's a really good question. There may be different RUUs for CBW. I don't know how to acquire them, but it seems like some people found a way to purchase them (from HTC?). What CID did your phone ship with?

cincinnati bell one s jellybean
Cincinnati bell HTC one s has jellybean update. I just updated it today.
Anyone ever figure out which RUU is needed to bring the CBW One S back to stock? Done a bit of digging myself to no avail.
