Just got my OTA Jelly Bean update last night. I am on Cincinnati Bell carrier here in Ohio. So far I am happy with it. Seems a bit more smooth and faster. Not a whole lot of new features, but glad I did the update. Will keep posting if I run into any problems or issues with this update. Anyone else out there in the area getting the OTA?
Not yet. In Texas. Crazy you have one but T-Mobile still slacking

Can you pull the update.zip and upload it here?
It is crazy that I have it on Cincy Bell. Usually it is slow getting updates on this carrier. I could upload the update but not sure how to pull it off my phone. I see it in my downloads folder. I hook up my phone to the computer, but cant see downloads anywhere. If someone can tell me how to pull it and upload it here I would be more that happy to share.

I think its located in /cache, in the root directory. but you will probably need root access to get to your file system to copy the file. Don't quote me on that thought, you can try to get to the file without root first if you have time.
I would also like the OTA as I am on Cincinnati bell as well please.

We received and updated Saturday night/Sunday morning. Was also surprised to see CBW beat T-Mobile on the update. So far we have been happy. JB has fixed an issue I had with the latest swiftkey update (jumping cursor) The one thing that we have noticed though is that battery life has been diminished with "Android OS" consuming considerable amounts of battery life. I guess the diminished battery life is a 4.1.1 thing. Not holding my breath for HTC (and CBW) to follow up with a 4.2.2 update.
Chris.
Jelly Bean Update
I live in Fairfield Ohio and received the OTA update late Sunday night. It took less than an hour to download and install. So far it appears that everything works. Hard to believe Cincinnati Bell could get this right. I did not expect to see this update for months.
Has anyone extracted a copy of the zip or found the URL from HTC for this?
You'd think there would be more than two people with the update here.

First wave of updates from a small regional carrier? I'm not too surprised to see that there's only a handful of people reporting about it.
Questionable
The mere fact that 2 users are here to report getting it on Ohio is questionable.
And why I am also questioning is neither of them posting the update zip?
I know as soon as I get it I will upload it.
Believe what you want. I got the update to Jelly Bean and cannot post the update zip because my phone is not rooted. I cannot pull the file off my phone without being rooted. Why would I lie about getting this update. That would just be stupid!
Just took a screen shot of my phone!
I haven't tried getting the OTA update as I have been using CM 10/10.1 since I bought my One S back in September from CBW. I did have a question though regarding an RUU. I was considering grabbing the RUU based off CBW's but I'm not exactly sure which one to use. I came from a Moto Droid X which I grew accustomed to SBF'ing and HTC's method is unfamiliar to me. Could someone possibly point me in the right direction?
On a side note, to those with the OTA update: have you noticed an improved reception/wifi singal strength with the update? I'm debating if its worth it to RUU to stock, grab the OTA, and re-root to move back to 10.1 in case there was a radio update along with it.
There would almost certainly be a firmware update (with radio) in a major OTA like that. It should be a full ROM update.
If you're up to it, going back to stock to grab the OTA file would certainly be welcome here.
As for which RUU to use, that's a really good question. There may be different RUUs for CBW. I don't know how to acquire them, but it seems like some people found a way to purchase them (from HTC?). What CID did your phone ship with?

Anyone ever figure out which RUU is needed to bring the CBW One S back to stock? Done a bit of digging myself to no avail.

I posted something on this in general but it doesn't get as much traffic, and I'd imagine the rom would be somewhere in here, but I can't find it. Anyway....
I used to use a mytouch 3G, but have sold it an am unrooting it before I ship. I flashed the original SAPPIMG.nbh, and now it's showing android version 1.5, and says that the system is currently up to date. Is there an easy way to manually update it to 1.6 so this guy gets the most recent version?
I'd imagine if I can find the original Tmo 1.6 I could update it, but I've spent an hour searching and haven't found it. Any advice? I'd like to ship this thing out today, if I can.
factory reset????
I did, and that brings me to 1.5, however it says the phone is up to date.

This really seems like one of those scenarios where the company will just keep pooping out new phones rather than upgrading the one that exists.
I'm in the same boat. Want to get my mt3g 100% stock and current. Gave it to the wife and do not want to be on the hook for tech support; so back to stock it goes of I can find the right way to do it.

Here you can find the official Google rom for 32B: http://developer.htc.com/google-io-device.html

No gps fix?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Mention of GPS strangely absent.
been running JH7 since it came out with SRE.
WTF is this? JH7 doesn't fix GPS nor does it come close!
(battery life is AMAZING THOUGH!)
Well, since GPS is not mentioned, I doubt this is meant as the fix for GPS issues...
But it IS a good sign that AT&T is actually working on our device, since they are releasing this FW to the public.
Very odd. They guaranteed a GPS fix by end of Sept. We already have used JH7 and it doesn't fix our GPS. I can't imagine them putting out another update before the end of September...
Is it possible that the update from AT&T will somehow include more file update or be different from the JH7 version that we have? Beyond that, I can't understand how they are finally releasing an update but NOT fixing the biggest issue. Especially since they apparently fixed it on the Vibrant and know how to fix it.
Looks like I got it. I definately have to test Exchange now. Maybe it'll work properly.

Check the GPS....
actually, before I get too crazy, let me verify something:
I had JF6, I made a backup image using ROM Manager/Clockwork Mod. I then applied the JH7 found here, had problems (no sideloading), and restored the image. I am ASSUMING that put me back on Baseband JF6, but I don't remember checking afterwards.
Is it possible that the JH7 I have is left over from my manual update? I don't wanna lie to everything thinking I got the official push and really didn't.

My GPS works fine and I have none of the other issues that this is supposed to fix, so I couldn't tell you whether the update will fix those or not.

They are pushing it, but you should be able to get it if you search for updates and your phone meets the criteria...
I'm running a backup now. I'm need to test a few things. I just happened across this thread and had a quick look at my basband number and it shows JH7. I *should* be stock. But that assumes that when I restored back to my original image, it also restored JF6
I'll get back with you. I don't feel like I'd be one of the lucky ones to get the update first (unless it goes by purchase date, I did get mine early).
LOL...fail. I went to check for update, said no update and that I can not check for another 24 hours. WTF? why cant I check for updates when I want.
Noob question: Is it necessary to un-root and un-lagfix before attempting to download or install this update?

Me too, lol, I'm already running JH7 that was leaked. According to the AT&T site they are looking at your firmware version and that's how they determine who's getting it.
Hmmm, debating if this update is even worth it. Doesn't fix GPS, and it's not Froyo
OTA update process usually takes days or weeks. It pushes in batches so that only limited number of phones will download the update so that the update server don't get overloaded. No, maunally check for update does not speed the process up at all or change your position in the queue. Basically, you have to wait for your turn.
Sooner or later someone will figure out the URL to download the update directly. Only when that happens, you can go and download the update and manually put that file to internal SD card, boot the phone into recovery mode and apply the update.
If that's too much work for you, wait for your turn.

same question here. Anyone know if I'll lose root/non-market apps if I apply this update?
One thing I did notice about the leaked version was the new YouTube app styling. I kinda liked it. Came in handy at the gas pump.
Is it normal that I still haven't gotten any OTA update? Im over in NY and went to stock ROM, went to stock recovery, and unrooted the phone. When is the OTA update rolling out until? Did it stop? I keep getting connection failed when manually looking for a software update.
And I don't want to manually use the LG tool because I am afraid of bricking the phone and don't want to go through the trouble of unbricking it.
I never got the OTA either and it was announced they stopped. The LG updating didn't brick my phone either.
I was actually wondering the same thing.
I called Tmo CS over a week ago, and he swore that I would be getting either an email, text or phone call, letting me know that I would be getting the update. He was nice, but I think he was new (didn't seem all that sharp). I did ask him about the rumor that they stopped the OTA, and he said that there was nothing about that in his system. He said, according to his system, it was still active. I asked him like 3x lol.
I have a refurb, so can't use the LG update tool. I know there is an alternate way of doing it, here on the forums, but I'm just too darn lazy lol. I will be calling Tmo again, in the next few days. If I get any useful info, I will pass it along to you.
I like my G2x, but honestly...between LG and Tmo, this has been one, huge clusterf**k. Thank God for the devs here, and around the net. They have done what LG and Tmo have continuously failed to do...made me a happy G2x owner!
ive had the same issue trying to do it by the phone so used LG tool and .... bricked my phone
i called Tmo and they exchanged my phone at no cost. the new one came with Gb preinstalled.
Why not just screw the OTA and grab one of the great custom, pre rooted roms. I did the OTA thing and had to re root. Ran the official update for two days and got tired of the thing. The custom roms spoil you.

I'm running EB 2.3.3, and love it. And thanks to EB, I also love my G2X again. But I would like to have the new baseband. And I can only get that from the update.
Really, what I think it comes down to (for me), is that I want T-Mobile to step the hell up, and stop jerking me around. How do you release an OTA...but only to SOME? I've just never heard of such a thing. And how do you release your "flagship" phone, then realize it's got issues, and then try to sweep all the owners of said "flagship" under the carpet...where you don't have to deal with them any more? It just makes me sad. I used to brag to all my friends, how much I loved T-Mobile.

I kind of sympathize, but people recommend custom roms as a blanket solution to random issues way too often. Don't get me wrong, I love EB and CM, and xboarder's rom is fantastic, but the first two don't have a2dp and the latter won't still give you a new baseband. For people like me who have a non-functional gps and rely on a2dp, the official update is pretty critical.
Also, is there any evidence suggesting T-Mobile actually pulled the update? I think I know the post where this rumor started, and for what it's worth, a pretty knowledgeable rep told me about a week ago that the OTA is still rolling out, and will continue to do so through August. If the roll-out is slow, I don't think its too surprising considering what little space lg has to screw up again.

Huh? LG already stated they would make an ICS update for us. Plus CM9 has already been made for this phone. So we're getting ICS either way.
tmonews reported this update as a re-roll out for anyone who missed the OTA update from July. Has nothing to do with any future ICS eligibility and there's probably nothing new.
So this update is nothing different than the one that was released in July?
This is a little bizarre.

Yes it's the same. I remember calling t-mobile in the first week of August because I never got the ota, and I checked everyday since its release. They told me back then that I could be put on a list and wait to receive the ota once they decided to roll it out again, or use the lg updating software on the lg site. I went with the latter.
I can't believe it took them this long for the re-roll out! They are moving these ota's at a snails pace. In conclusion if you don't have a nexus then you know the word OTA is just a damn over-hyped buzz word.
I never got an OTA. Just some speal about the LG updater.
OTA = bricking your G2x using the LG Updater tool and getting repaired = Bada Boom!

ATT phones require an authorized SIM to access their OTA server. Without one you're out of luck unless someone captures the file from the update, and uploads it. Based on other posts Big Blue hasn't published the tot file publicly for their users on their site yet.
If someone roots after downloading the OTA the file might remain, then they can pull it from /cache or whichever directory LG stores updates on this model.
(A similar method was used to help G2 users that didn't have an ATT card for their D800. )

You should be able to pop in an active AT&T sim, turn on your phone, and check for an update, and then swap back to your Tmo sim no problem.
There's in no time limit, but the problem you might run into is updates don't get automatically pushed out even if available and even if you check. They get rolled out by region or some other formula, so sometimes you have to call ATT support and ask them to push it to your phone, which you can't do since you'd be borrowing a friends ATT sim.
The other problem is you can only check for an update once every 24 hours, so you kind of only get one shot with a friends ATT sim. People get around this by manually setting the date forward and re-checking. Lastly, the most recent ATT update was just released September 3rd. They roll out slowly, so you often can't pull them when manually checking for an update right after a release because they are still rolling out per whatever formula ATT uses.
The more time that passes after ATT releases new software update-- say at least a few weeks -- the more likelihood you'll have success checking for an update with a friend's ATT sim because they've already rolled out and, hopefully, they are just available on demand.
(Disclaimer: This is all my best guess/understanding. I'm no authority and certainly welcome anybody correcting me).
Thanks for the answer. I get my phone next friday so will see if it picks it up.
Thanks
D
