I've noticed that there are 2 rils for the latest ota radio. Who is using which one and how is it working for you.

I'm using the AOSP RIL, been working great, fast speeds, full hsupa. Haven't had any problems with it.

I'm using 160HM. Network data performance so far has been outstanding, with a best ever speed test...I hesitate to say this, but 10.1 down /2.0 up...those are not typos . I am wondering if it has more to do with the new APN settings (hipri), and speculating my market takes advantage of them.

I rooted the phone and without a custom rom i get the h+ with the check mark. But I get no connection.
So I tried to install a custom mod and now i dont get the 4g speed i get an h with an up down arrow but I can connect to internet.
Can anyone help me. Please
Make sure the battery cover and sd card/sim card cover it on. Check settings>wireless and networks> mobile networks, and check your apn settings.
the h or h+ is irrelevant.
rooting procedure breaks the h+ connection. known fact. cm7 speedtest=.62 megabits down. .12 up. stock s on in same spot= 2.30 megabits down. .76 up.

Then there is something wrong with your flash. CM7 gets me the exact same speeds as any sense ROM.
Custom ROMs do NOT have the h+ icon. That is all it is. You may have to edit build.prop to get the 14.4mbit connectivity back. But no towers can even go near that fast right now.

This man speaks da truff.
Yup. LeeDroid's rom shows 3G for HSPA, and H for HSPA+, from what I can tell. I've had it cycle through the icons after a reboot. I haven't messed with a rom yet that had the H+ icon.
I just got 1514k / 1321k using the Gingerbread version of Android Revolution. Mine only shows an "H" icon.

While I know you weren't asking me, I too used Bubby's tool and my speeds are as fast as can be expected based on the time of day. I've seen as high as 3.79dn and 1.5up.
Dl Prop Editor from market and see what your settings are in build.prop.

I personally used the hack kit before bubby's came out.
Custom ROMs tend to remove the H+ icon, so all you will see is an H.
The speed varies on some ROMs. Edit your build.prop and reboot twice, and you should be good to go. I got 2.5ish on stock ROM, I get 5+ now.
GL!
I know mine varies all the time depening on the time of day. Used bubbys on 3.5 rev rom and have seen 4.6 and 1.9.. it varies though
Waiting on the new gb we will see what speeds we get there

Different radios work differently for each person. You just have to try a couple and see how they work for you.

Yes the radio image is flashed thru hboot.
The RIL can be flashed thru cWm.
I have a similar problem. I am on CM7 and have the radio from AT&T's update and my connection to the mobile network is so inconsistent. I have been in the same place as my wife and her iphone 4 has a great connection and mine won't even connect to the mobile network. I quite often have bars that are grey as opposed to colored, meaning I have a connection for calls but not data. A
Any solutions?

Do you guys with a GSM Nexus S or maybe the CDMA version experience some sort of wifi throttling?
It's like my wifi gets throttled and apps like XDA, Twitter, Facebook and even the market timeout. Websites also load super slow!
I know it's not my wifi or internet because I get 40Mbps down and 20Mbps up so there's no way its my internet. So I don't know what's up! And its really frustrating me!
So you guys know what might be going on? Maybe I need a radio update? I did install the Trinity kernel but it doesn't seem to have helped except maybe in the battery department.
And I also just got this phone 2 days ago.

HTC phones have radios that control... well the radios of the phone so I don't know if the Nexus is the same.

What are you talking about? control what?
WiFi is completely fine. I know some NS4G users are having problems with it but it looks like you're using the GSM variant of Nexus S.
The radio is like a driver that controls wifi, network, and Bluetooth radios....
I read about the data drops on the CDMA Nexus. And yes I have the GSM variant

I know what a radio is. What I'm telling you to do is to update your radio if it isn't the latest (or use another radio than what you're using currently).
Oh!
You had said update your radio with a question mark haha...
Okay, the latest radio?

Really which is best is very subjective. I have personally never seen a difference with any of them. Theoretically though, the latest one should be the best one. Here is the link to the thread in the development section.

Thanks for the reply. I have seen that thread and tried all except the KD8, I didn't notice a difference with any but LC1. My signal seemed the same but my speed tests were faster at home with the airave. Which I know runs the same 3g speed constantly. . . According to my other phones. The point of the post really was to see if anyone knew of a better radio. In their opinion besides the ones on that list. But I will update after I try the KD8.

No noticeable difference between the two.

Wifi speeds are not necessarily dependent on the used baseband firmware. Wifi speeds are influenced in fact much more by the used drivers (corresponding shared objects with "so" extension and library files) and its bugs. These drivers are located on the system partition. Official binary blobs containing wifi drivers can be downloaded. The official ROM uses binary blobs (proprietary SW) for wifi operation. Though some custom ROMs may contain open source drivers.

There aren't different radios than those. If you see a different radio not in that list, you should probably not flash it if they're claiming it's for our phone. Obviously a new radio could come out again and there could technically be some radio that never went official but if those make it into the public, the thread would likely be updated and have them.

So to start off I unlocked my s2 I've flashed 3 different roms and a few different T-Mobile radios, but my data is very poor sometimes it works sometimes not it constantly drops if anyone can offer some advice I'd really appreciate it.
As of now my sgh-i727 is unlocked running on cm10 superlite and the telus radio.

It probably also depends on your location, too. In the Bay Area and LA, SlimBean w/ a Blaze (LB7) radio has worked just fine for me.
Thanks. I've read over that post a few times. I was using blaze lb7 for a bit but then I started to test others once the data drops and very poor speeds occurred. Also I live in MS I generally have great reception.

I'm lucky to get a 1meg down and up when it actually holds the data signal. I'm actually on straight talk but with the ST tmo sim as my back up phone is the LG g2x. Maybe I didn't flash correctly, but I have tried flashing multiple times and no which radio or rom combo its the result slow speeds and constant drops. Another note my g2x fantastic in my area in ST

One little update I have noticed that my data switches a lot between E/3g/H+ data still works but I have noticed its draining the battery rather quick. My g2x does not show these symptoms my signal stays strong in my house with it.
