HTC Sensation Special - HTC Sensation

Recently I've been thinking about getting the HTC Sensation or the MyTocuch 4G Slide. I haven't had time to get to a store to check them out yet. Which do you think is better? I found a 10% T-Mobile discount online which would help too. It says "Switch to T-Mobile and also save 10% off monthly recurring charges, plus get your initial $35 activation fee waived and FREE 2 Day shipping". Has anyone heard of this before?

Do you know if this is only good for new customers?

Sensation man! As long as you don't get a dud. on my third handset but it's finally flawless.

This is for student only. If you are a college student, you may want to check if your school has an even better contract with t-mobile than this (ask your school, not t-mobile, or search your sechool webpage)
My school has 15% off, and the rest of the offers are the same. Not wanting to wait for it to ship, I printed out the offer two weeks ago and brought it to a local tmobile store. They did the price match after confirming the offer on the phone with someone else.

I was curious about that. This deal says you just have to be a member of the site studentrate for the discount, and since you don't have to be a student to be a member, I was thinking you'd still be eligible.

Mytouch sucks & Sensation is the best thing out till the Hercules/SGS2

I wouldnt say it sucks..its basically the sensation in a smaller package with a keyboard

Ok sweet, thanks.
I'm thinking the mytouch slide because it has a keyboard. I'm worried I'll have a tough time texting with the touch screen on the sensation.

I was using the myTouch 3G Slide and thought the same thing. I've always been weary of full touch-screen phones without a keyboard, but with the Sensation's larger screen size texting on-screen is a breeze. Go with the Sensation.

I guess I could always return in before, what is it 30 days? If I don't like it.

Can you get this same discount/deal in stores?

I used to run a Desire Z because I was leary of the lack of a keyboard on most other phones but I got the Sensation recently because I wanted a solid, one piece, device and the screen on the Sensation is big enough, though it still does take some getting used to.

I don't think so, not the same one anyway. If you click on the link I posted it says you can get it by calling that #866 number or there's a link for the T-Mobile online site

I got my Sensation thru Target online for $99...and only a $18 activation fee.
I looked the other day and it was now $119.
Hope this helps.

Were you just upgrading?

I've got both phones and I like the sensation better but the mytouch 4g is a good phone too. *cough* just get the sensation it has better specs ,dual core.

Got the phone for $99 + $18 activation fee, and my bill went up $10 a month.

The MT4gS spec is +1 on our MT4G and it maybe the last in myTouch like due to the DeathStar's (AT&T) acquisition of T-Mobile. If anyone is keyboard fan like G2 users they might find MT4gS worth updating to but until at&Tmobile is merged I am not buying anything as ill just wait and see what happens and based on the experience I have with DeathStar with their many merges of my service from Cingular to BellSouth where the price went up while service degraded ill see how it goes if it becomes bad ill jump CDMA carrier even when I love GSM so much.
It kind of looks like a Rhodium from the angles they have...
Looks sick, but all this talk about the TmoUS/att merge isn't said to effect any of us until late next year, or so I was told. I was on when they changed their whole profile to Cingular, and though the world knew that simply the name AT&T would bring them back, nobody realized the consequences of it. Somebody had to pay their immense new marketing bill =/

I know that is what I was saying as I am TMoEM+ customer and I am not dumb enough to actually sign 2 years contract as price for device+higher contract bill is more than EM+ with paying for new device fully.
I did current estimate and updated with current AT&T's bill which is as we know is contracted so I would be paying $30 extra with 50min subtracted from my current plan and paying SMS for same price ill have 1000SMS, and for same dataplan ill have lower cap. As I have EM+ 500TuTW for special $49.99+tax(reg price %59.99) after $10 discount.
So I am following wait and see policy regardless of the phone supporting quadband or not as I want to see if AT&T will honor people like me who has been with them for ages even if I am not on contract or will they force us to sign. If that happens I switch to Big Red (1 of 7 original slice of Death Star) or Sprint. If FCC is foolish enough to make AT&T again monopoly they themselves should be erased before AT&T because thats all it going to be than for GSM world in USA.
Did the same as PD15IMG, just got an EM+ plan. 500 minutes, unlimited on nights, weekends, and always unlimited over wifi, unlimited texted, unlimited data, free tethering all for 60 dollars a month... It's a win.
Still, imo I would get the myTouch 4G slide.. but I walked into a Verizon store today and now I wanna switch to verizon, So no myTouch 4G slide for me

I find the qwerty/keyboards on touch screen phones kind of annoying. If I need to type an essay long paper, then I just use a laptop. But for things like texting, you normally write short sentences. I guess the sliding thing to reply a message or do a quick search is not for me.
IMO, when compared to the MT4G, the only good thing about this the MT4G Slide is the hardware (not even!).
PS: Also, the buttons are too small for my fingers.

Yes it seems kinda lame, do the math though and it's not so bad.
250 upfront for the phone
50 mail in rebate and a 120 bill credit=80 for the phone.
Better that the wallmart deal, it just takes some time for it to pay off.

Ah, I see the grayed out text at the bottom now, barely readable so as to hide it from customers.
The graphic in the picture says one year of free data without any asterisk at all, not one year of free $10 data.
Isn't that illegal false advertising? Jerks. I hate when companies do that.
& to think I almost waited for the Sat sale. Need to look closer @ details & see if we can access this for our grandfathered plans, I'm not giving that up. Wish I'd picked up those free phones for my kids in Feb, arghhhhh!
The word from my market manager is that there will not be any more free phone sales (like last year's father's day sale) because of high fraud / cancellation rates.
This market manager is not a very reliable source ( calling her an idiot is an insult to idiots everywhere ) but this makes sense now that we know what the sale is.

FYI, if you are adding a new line or are a new customer, tmo currently has the MT4G and SGS 4G for free if you do it online. One of the phones ends today, but the other one doesn't expire until Thursday. Won't work for upgrades, buy if you are adding a line for your kid, this is the way to go. Pull the trigger quick though.

Great Customer Service!
I went to a local store here in Fremont to get my first look at the Sensation and asked about the Father's Day special. A salesperson named Candice answered my questions and handed me a Sensation to play with. I asked for her business card and told her I would be back on Sunday, thinking that was the day of the promotion. I then went to find my wife and daughter at the Michael's craft store next door. About 15 minutes later, I run into Candice while shopping inside Michael's! She realized that I was mistaken about the day of the sale and actually ran next door to find me and tell me it was on Saturday!
I know that she probably gets a commission on phones that she sells, but I still think it was very kind of her to find me and tell me the correct date. Imagine if I had shown up on Sunday and was told that the promotion was the day before!
So to thank her for her kindness I am telling her story here on the forum in the hopes that some of you will buy a Sensation from her. Let's see if we can help her get the "Employee of the Month" award! I don't know if my credit will qualify for a two-year contract, but I intend to find out on Saturday! Wish me luck!
If any of you live in the Fremont, CA area and are planning on buying a Sensation, please go to the T-Mobile store at the corner of Mowry Ave & Fremont Blvd (store address 39172 Argonaut Way) and ask for Candice.
A little extra for you folks I found today over at fatwallet. After you get your phone head over to this link and follow the instructions to get a 125$ visa card if you are a NEW T-mo customer.
http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/1099398/
So 250-50 mir-50 sensation promo-120 fathers day-125 for switching to Tmo= they are paying you 95 bucks to get this phone on Fathers Day. I'd say that's a bit better than a free phone.
Nice, dude! Good lookin out, thanks for sharing.

"The Phone Booth" at Sherway Gardens sold me one no questions asked. I had it home and unlocked from Bell in a few hours!
I got mine from the Bell Store, had to sign up for a 30 day plan. Tons of paperwork, don't do it. Futureshop/Bestbuy should be able to sell the phones unlocked in a week (according to the staffs experience)

Are you a T-mobile customer? If you are then they are in the wrong for not selling you a phone off contract. If your not a T-mobile customer than they can deny you the sale but nothing happens to them if they do. Just all depends if the persons being a **** and how much they have in stock.

Having previously worked for bell it is one of there rules is a phone needs to be registered to an account to leave the store. You either need to have an account (in which case it should be easy) or keep going in hopes to get a misinformed employee. Try small phone booths as well.

Yes I am a tmo customer. They told me they had limited quantities and they were reserving them for new contracts. When I called tmo to complain they called 2 of the stores and the one guy straight up lied to them and said they didn't have any in stock when 5 minutes earlier they did. And this was at 10th am when they opened so I doubt they sold all of them from the time o called until when tmo cs called them

I purchased mine from Best Buy outright without an activation. He even checked in his computer to make sure that it could go out the door without a plan. If it helps at all, I got mine from the Best Buy store in Markville.

Yeah, thankfully, I suppose, I got it for "free" from T-mobile on their midnight special right after I lost my fully Android powered HD2 for the last time. Unfortunately, I still have to pay the $200 cancellation fee on the new line I added to my account in order to get the phone. Still, I really think that $200 is the cheapest anyone could get this phone with no contract whatsoever.

I paid $0 in shipping since both Wirefly and T-mo.com had free shipping.they even waived my activation fees.It was a bit of a hassle, but at the end it saved me $150.well worth it IMO.

Inspire eol replacement

Does anyone know what the warranty replacement for the inspire is? Its been on the eol list for awhile now, retail stores don't carry it anymore, and att online store list it as out of stock. I'm still wondering how many replacements HTC is holding back for warranty purposes. They stopped production on it forever ago so I'm hoping HTC is out as well but I figured if I filed an insurance claim through att and not through HTC I would get a comparable phone but wanting to know what it is without having to ask att

Not sure where you're checking, but just checked online and I see the inspire is available for $0.01 from ATT. A lot depends on the market as to who has it.

You're more than likely right. I was actually just looking at phones today and it had the Inspire for like $399 without commitment. I know when I was working doing tier 2 support for a cell phone company, that it was all left up to Assurion, (the carrier really doesn't have anything to do with it). But I know that if they don't have another Inspire, they WILL get you a comparable model, sometimes it works out in the customer's favor, where you get a better phone than you had because of price and availability. So look around and I'm sure you can find one somewhere. If not, keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best with the claim, you just never know!
Edit: Sorry, it wouldn't let me add the quote in a link, so put I put it in with regular text.

Thanks guys. And these aren't my phones. Both my sister and her husband got an inspire when they first came out and their upgrade is due in a few months but they are both going to claim insurance on them before the upgrade so they can either have a new inspire to sell or a comparable to sell for more money. Before anyone says this is "wrong" think about it.. you spend about $10 a month for insurance but never make a claim the entire 2 year contract. Why not make use of the nearly $240 you spent on a device lol
Sent from my Photon Q using ultramegaextremeXDA
Well yeah, I get that, to each his own. And you have to put money down for the claim anyway, so I guess they can do with it what they wish. But I'd be surprised to see what they actually get if there are none left... Maybe a Skyrocket??
