The MT4gS spec is +1 on our MT4G and it maybe the last in myTouch like due to the DeathStar's (AT&T) acquisition of T-Mobile. If anyone is keyboard fan like G2 users they might find MT4gS worth updating to but until at&Tmobile is merged I am not buying anything as ill just wait and see what happens and based on the experience I have with DeathStar with their many merges of my service from Cingular to BellSouth where the price went up while service degraded ill see how it goes if it becomes bad ill jump CDMA carrier even when I love GSM so much.
It kind of looks like a Rhodium from the angles they have...
Looks sick, but all this talk about the TmoUS/att merge isn't said to effect any of us until late next year, or so I was told. I was on when they changed their whole profile to Cingular, and though the world knew that simply the name AT&T would bring them back, nobody realized the consequences of it. Somebody had to pay their immense new marketing bill =/

I know that is what I was saying as I am TMoEM+ customer and I am not dumb enough to actually sign 2 years contract as price for device+higher contract bill is more than EM+ with paying for new device fully.
I did current estimate and updated with current AT&T's bill which is as we know is contracted so I would be paying $30 extra with 50min subtracted from my current plan and paying SMS for same price ill have 1000SMS, and for same dataplan ill have lower cap. As I have EM+ 500TuTW for special $49.99+tax(reg price %59.99) after $10 discount.
So I am following wait and see policy regardless of the phone supporting quadband or not as I want to see if AT&T will honor people like me who has been with them for ages even if I am not on contract or will they force us to sign. If that happens I switch to Big Red (1 of 7 original slice of Death Star) or Sprint. If FCC is foolish enough to make AT&T again monopoly they themselves should be erased before AT&T because thats all it going to be than for GSM world in USA.
Did the same as PD15IMG, just got an EM+ plan. 500 minutes, unlimited on nights, weekends, and always unlimited over wifi, unlimited texted, unlimited data, free tethering all for 60 dollars a month... It's a win.
Still, imo I would get the myTouch 4G slide.. but I walked into a Verizon store today and now I wanna switch to verizon, So no myTouch 4G slide for me

I find the qwerty/keyboards on touch screen phones kind of annoying. If I need to type an essay long paper, then I just use a laptop. But for things like texting, you normally write short sentences. I guess the sliding thing to reply a message or do a quick search is not for me.
IMO, when compared to the MT4G, the only good thing about this the MT4G Slide is the hardware (not even!).
PS: Also, the buttons are too small for my fingers.

So my contract is up and I'm thinking about switching to ATT. I'm going to wait until the inspire 4g first. Any thoughts on ATT?

Data plans sucks to be honest
Right now I pay 140 a month with a 20% discount. This is for a family data plan. I would get the same discount with ATT. I think I would pay about 160 or 170 with ATT

I think it comes to around $100 a month for a single line, not sure, never had a contract in my life jsut stuck around with prepaid. also you must be carefull when on roaming, as charges are heavy. if your just going for the phone, then you should wait as there are more phones coming to other networks
Thanks for the info. I didn't know ATT charged roaming.

Frankly, if you live somewhere without 3G and want to use data, AT&T really sucks.
All this fastest network crap is moot when verizon and tmobile have high speed networks where I live and it takes me a full minute to load a web page.

Im in the same boat all my phones are going to be up this year and was thinking of switching to Tmo. but i have been with sprint for 9 or 10 years now and have not had one problem. so i might just stay with sprint.
Im on ATT and im on a family plan right now; my phone costs a total of 30 bucks a month (5 for having the line, 25 for 2gb data).
You should definitely wait until mwc to see what all comes out. The inspire looks really good though.
Captivate 2.2.1 Paragon
I used to have AT&T and I switched to T-mo when the Nexus S was released. I got tired of my iphone and wanted to experience android. So glad i did!
I had been on AT&T for 7 years (4 years being an iphone user) and never really had any issues with there service.
I travel alot and always got wonderful reception no matter where I went ( besides LA, if you live in LA avoid AT&T)
if your looking to switch to AT&T I would deff check out the Moto Atrix 4G. Although I never liked motorola to be honest and think there phones are junk. There putting an a killer phone. Tegra 2 processor. Super AMOLED plus LCD.
Check out the Atrix 4G over the inspire, the inspire is sort of old technology I feel like when compared to the new powerhouse phones coming out with tegra 2's.
HTC should of revamped the Inspire with new internals instead of just rebranding the Desire.
Go for a company with a Unlimited Data Plan. I hate the ATT Data Plan.

Looks like I'm going to Verizon or sprint. Anything but at&t they always drop calls.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
The network will actually be stronger because of the takeover but what I do foresee is a lack of our current freedom that T-Mobile provides us with its data plan, AT&T clearly likes to limit its customers' options to 2GB and furthermore AT&T seems to going the way Verizon has and invested heavily in LTE technology as opposed to T-Mobile's HSPA+ which leaves us MT4G users dead in the water. I have heard that AT&T was seeking to expand its current HSPA+ network but I'm not exactly sure by how much and whether it runs off of the same bands as the T-Mobile HSPA+ network since their current 3G networks are on different bands.
I am interested to see if they will change their outlook on the way they handle business. BUT IT LOOKS LIKE I MIGHT GO BACK TO SPRINT
Yeah this most likely means sprint for me.
So what's the best android phone coming out soon for Sprint?

Yes, I'd like an order of 5 year contracts and a side of carrier specific manufacturers. And a medium "iPhone to T-Mobile" to drink, with extra irony.

Well, I am absolutely not in shock. I work corporate so i had knowledge of talks..but i was under impression we were doing spectrum agreements. Not this bullsh*t. I am NOT happy as I DO work for AT&T but...I know our strictness when it comes to Data Tiering and deposit structuring, etc.
On the network side it will be an advantage as far as coverage goes..but this is bad news for pricing and customer retention..
I anticipate a customer drop the 1st 3 months this is finalized.

AT&T is not that bad....in fact in my hometown it's great! I get HSPA/3G speeds all day long while my wife (a T-Mobile user) can't get anything but Edge/2g on her so called Galaxy S "4G"...lol hehe.......about 45 minutes out of town she can though. Which goes to show, although T-Mobile has the fastest down/up speeds, they do not have the range of service satellites they need to cover these small, lost, and forgotten towns out here.
But with the combined power of almighty AT&T, the impossible becomes possible, thus conquering little guys like Sprint, Verizon who forcefully bully their way on to consumers with promising and emasculate devices that carry overpriced, heart ripping contracts that leave people dam near pulling the lint out of their pocket to pay bills
The only way this will be good is if they don't jake up my bill and get rid of my unlimited. I have great coverage where I live but when I go on a little trip and I mean little I lose recwptionrecwption

I predict a few things happening.
1 ) All the prices will be jacked up by at least $20 to $30 & for no good reason but to pad the paychecks of the executives.
2) Customer Service will be ****-tastic for what ever is left standing.
3) What ever phones come out under this new arrangement will be chit-locked like the iPhone & we will have to resort back to exotic tricks to get the devices rooted / unlocked.
It will happen, just wait for it... Make sure you have an unbrella for when it does.
/rant
AT&T has a problem with it's customers. Their problem is that they are being provided a service. Their solution to this problem is to take people's money and not provide any service.
/end-rant
Speculation is that AT&T will likely have to divest itself of 40 to 50 percent
of T-Mobile USA customer base and the likely winner of that will be Sprint.
So if you stay with TMO to see what the outcome is you might not
end up with AT&T, but with Sprint.

One of my paintball buddies says he has an out of state friend that works for AT&T
and he is in Florida right now working on T-Mobile towers.
I was hoping this nightmare would go away but apparently AT&T has greased
some palms at the FCC and DOJ and are sure this is a done deal.

Well just read radioshack is kicking T-Mobile out and bringing in Verizon to all stores. I see the end is near i don't understand why people choose the other carriers when T-Mobile gives you the Best bang for the buck handdown. Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
How will we be left hanging? Even with the buyout, AT&T will be forced to grandfather all of us and our existing contracts. If we are forced to change anything (plan, device, etc) it would be a violation of contract and we would have an out without penalty. Those of us without a contract have the potential to get screwed sooner. But if that happens, just leave since you don't have a contract anyways.

I just jumped ship from TMO. I was on flex pay with no contract with two lines. Sprint gave me $125 credit for each line just for porting my numbers to them. Then on top of that I said I worked at costco and got 23% off my monthly bill. Plus they will give me a free home airwave which is a signal booster/free wifi calling AP. and with the GV integration any call you make is considered mobile to mobile and doesnt deduct from your minutes(if not on unlimited plan)
Sprint's 4g coverage in my area is pretty strong as well.
so for $120(after the 23% rebate) I get 1500 anytime minutes, unlimited texting and 4g on both lines nights and weekends (nights start at 7) truly unlimited data, free mobile to mobile calling on any carrier plus the GV intergration which every call is like mobile to mobile and the free airwave for my house. I couldnt resist I just got the evo 3d but have 30 days and might return it if the GS2 comes out by then and if it's any good

I agree! I Never had any service problem whatsoever. Even if the buyout doesn't happen and T-mobile decided to close their doors, it would not happen for at least 2-3 years as they have binding agreements to provide service to millions of customers. Even that scenario is unlikely considering T-mobile stands to gain $6 billion and a percentage of atat spectrum in the event negotiations go south. There is also reason to doubt what some call ''the inevitable'' based on T-mobile's recent swarm of high end devices, price plan adjustments and advertising. T-mobile has never made as much noise throughout its lifetime in the U.S. as it has within the last 7 months.
Have fun with the dropped calls.

Who shops at Radio Shack? only old people looking for rare batteries for their cordless phone from 1994. This move doesn't affect T-Mobile in the slightest just shows that Radio Shack is struggling. T-Mobile by far has the best signal strength in my area. Sprint sucks you will get dropped calls several times a day. Not to mention you can't talk on the phone and surf the web at the same time....
T-mobile's been solid for me and i can honestly say I have had every major carrier available in the Chicago area in the past few years. Sprint is a close second but their 4G was spotty and while traveling it was almost at 3g speeds.
Were fine, were in contracts (most of us) and if AT&T takes over and tries to change it, itll be an easy way for us to get another new shiny phone from another carrier
AT&T does have the ****test service though, I had a 3GS for 6 months never had so many damn dropped calls. There was 2 city blocks by me I had to avoid when I was on the phone cause it was a dead zone lol while every other carrier had signal there fine
Back when I had my HD2, my tmobile connection was questionable. But since getting and HTC Sensation 4G I haven't dropped a single call yet. The Antenna Design in the Sensation is definitely above the rest. The only thing I don't like is the new data caps on high speed access. I am on 5 GB plan. I called tmobile to ask what do they mean by reduced data speed after I used up my quota and they basically said I would be on edge til the end of the month. Not very cool, but better than paying overages.
Well It's nice to have more than one spot to buy your phone local. Considering where i live best buy mobile don't carry T-Mobile now radioshack won't . I'm down to two places the mall where it's impossible to get a phone before they sell out or walmart. So to some radioshack ain't a big deal but too me it is, i got several phones from them and if it wasn't for them i wouldn't have got this sensation when it released. The mall sold out in a hour and so did walmart.

I have never had any problems with bad phones from ebay.
These days sellers are pretty honest if there is a problem.
Sensations are going for about $400 each now on Ebay
Many of the phones on Ebay are New in Box too.
I still don't understand why people still think they need to purchase from a retail store. You are better off especially with the Tmobile merger coming up, to buy a phone outright, then get a month to month plan. That way if the network goes to ****, you can switch with no termination fees.

If you cant pay you cant play...... Seriously if you cant afford another 10 dollars you shouldn't have bought the phone.
Ok asshole. Instead, I'm a high schooler who wants a dev phone (relying on just the sdk emulator is a *****), and has to pay for it by myself because the nexus s isn't on Verizon, which is what my parents have. I can't sign a contract for another 10 months because I'm not old enough. And I can't afford to wait until the prime, because I have work I want to finish right now.
I'm not using the medianet plan. I'm using the $50 unlimited plan. They work the same, because at&t scans for imeis of known smartphones that they sell, like the atrix. I was just wondering if the canadian nexus s worked because recently best buy USA started selling an att version.
My nexus one never worked on it (only text and calls), so I was just wondering about the s. I can get a new white one for cheap.
Edit: but seriously dude why would you come to a random person and say stuff like that? I guarantee you wouldn't say it to my face. I bet you wont even call me and say it. Why do you think you're so much better because you can sign a contract and pay extra money?
AT&T Crack Down
AT&T will eventually find out that you are using an excessive amount of data throughput via "medianet". I know there was an iPhone 2g trick that would fool AT&T into allowing the $15 plan; however the access in which your smart phone "dials out" to AT&T would expose your phone as being a smart phone. I had an N1 on AT&T and they knew the IMEI number... I bought it via Google too. AT&T has their ways...
The only thing you could do is get the NS, w/ or w/o a 2yr plan and use the DataPlus plan for $15. (If cost is an issue.)
Cost isn't the issue, its the contract. I can't sign one. I'm on an incredible s right now from Canada on the dumb phone plan with ATT and I was just wondering if the nexus would know or not. They knew about my n1 but not my inc s.

I bought one prior to it releasing on AT&T (through Best Buy mobile) and it worked fine on the $10/$15 MEdiaNet Data plan. Decided to sell it as soon as AT&T released it as their own. I've been wondering the same question lately seeing it's one of the best android phones for the price (I can get a used Rogers one for about $300 unsubsidized.) I'm currently using the Desire Z from Bell Canada on the MEdiaNet plan.
P.S. Would you be willing to sell your Incredible S for around $300?
No thanks, I'm looking for closer to 400 on it. But OK cool the nexus worked

First off kid, grow up. Then when you do take a deep breath and realize the stupid reply you actually took the time to write. I would have no problem saying it to your face, while smiling of course. You are like every other kid I deal with daily. In fact I bet you are the type that will start crying thinking it will stop me from writing you a ticket.

i looked through your other posts, you never have anything constructive or productive to write, so im not gonna worry about you. youre an asshole, the kind that give cops a bad name.
You obviously didn't look too hard. I guess that is to be expected. You are right, I am an asshole because I thought it is lame to try to cheat the system for 10 dollars. Good day kid.

the unlocked t-mobile version isn't seen as a smartphone by at&t and the poor soul who had the nexus one that was spotted as a smartphone, if yours had the t-mobile frequencies then you were just unlucky.
if its built with t-mobile 3g then it will only connect to the EDGE network and i don't think at&t really cares.
Rem3dy,
The OP asked a specific question. If you can't answer it, don't post.

What you said was unhelpful and insulting. Step down from the high-horse and be helpful or fellate your service weapon.

Thanks for chiming in 17 days late. So I'm on a high horse because I think trying to cheat a company out of 10 bucks was stupid? Are you going to support him when he comes back and asks how to download paid apps for free? Where are you going to draw the line? You say to leave my morals out and to either help the kid or say nothing? So what exactly did your post do to help him?

Everyone should just stop. I figured it all out, I'm now on straight talk for unlimited everything + 2gb data for $45 a month, and it uses AT&T towers (mvno carrier). This plan worked better, but it requires a $100 fee to start up, but I paid the price because I can't sign contracts.
I wanted to use the medianet plan because I can't sign a contract while I'm under 18. I never wanted to get free apps, or do anything like that. I've been around XDA for a bit, dabbled in devving for a few phones, and I'm pretty sure some of my threads are even stickied. I know the rules etc.
All that said, PLENTY of threads are on XDA about taking advantage of the medianet loophole. It saves $20+ a month, and data is unlimited (not available to other plans) and unthrottled. Many people have no problem sticking it to a corporation that they hate like AT&T, and IMO unlimited data should be unlimited.. smartphone or not, so I had no problem with the idea of it.

I bought a rogers nexus s (french+english text on box) and they changed my data plan
I got a white i9020a (canadian?) and they changed my dataplan from medianet to a smartphone They can't have the IME number though.. and I tethered all the time on my Nokia E71 w/ medianet so I don't think it was data usage that tipped them off.
How could they know I got an i9020a Nexus S? Maybe a heuristic like if you download from Google's market servers you're on a smartphone?
