2 New Htc phones on their way..? - General Topics

Found this on the mighty internet
http://www.phonehouse.nl/verwachte-telefoons/
Htc Prime & Htc Ignite are listed there and i googled them and it seems they are only wp7 phones..
Just wanted to share the news

Eh, this is old news. Htcs phones are always a big disappointment to me though, the battery life lasts all of 15 minutes and they pretty much just release the same phone over and over. Even with an OS that doesn't have terrible power management the batteries leave A LOT to be desired.

I am sure they are just refashioned phones that have already been released outside the USA.

Refashioned with a better OS is about as far as the refashioning goes on there.

I've had the inverse results, to me HTC has much better battery life than Samsung does for example. Even watching my 3D movies on my Evo 3D, I get pretty good battery life. However, because these are open source operating systems, and not designed for the phones that they're being used on, all Android phones with the exception of the Nexus Series will have dumpy battery life. iPhones, Nexus, Blackberries, Nokia Symbians, all have great battery life cause they're running what they're designed to run. Hardware/software sympatico.

HTC
I don't have HTC!

Seems every top end smartphone sucks power. That should be the priority development issue.

htc have an ugly habit to realease same design phone over and over again.. **** .. evo..evo 3d.. desirehd..desire... sensation .. just every few slight changes.. where is the quitely brilliant in this?
and sense ..omg.. is pretty damn ugly..
but still i have a desire hd myself
but i love the xda support for these phones though

Personally I'm grateful that they keep to the winning formula started with the HD2.
I'd probably be lumbered with a SGS2 if it weren't for the DHD or Sensation.
As for sense, it's the only reason I get on with android, the default gui sucks, sense makes it user friendly for me.
I've just installed a Sense3 ROM on my HD2 and I'm really loving it so can't wait to upgrade to the Sensation.
That's one of the good things about android, customers have options.

What company does not do what you stated? Apple does it, Motorola for sure, Samsung..yep.., Nokia..doing it for years..what you label a brand specific should be stated industry wide. Oh yea..blackberry..they also are quilty.

miss your blackjack 2 battery life? I know I do, I used to emulate final fantasy for 2 days without a charge. Then I switched to the HTC dash thanks to a change in carrier... Well... I could play for 4-5 hours brand new I guess...

It all makes sense though. Bigger and better screens. Updates and new OS's to hog up more battery. I just find it annoying how they haven't made leaps and bounds in battery development like they have in other areas. Dual core processors in phones? 4G LTE? Well thats all fantastic, but how about making the batteries better so devices like the HTC Thunderbolt can last more than half a day on the 4G LTE network it was so heavily advertised with. It makes me wonder if they've hit a barrier in battery development. I have a cousin that is a software/hardware engineer and told me all about the issues they are facing with putting more life into smaller batteries.

that's why I'm looking forward to that new screen they're working on that also acts as a solar panel to charge your battery during daytime usage.

I'm happy because of its operation system but i love to buy a WP7 device with 4 inch LCD and good LCD quality.

I can't tell if you're trolling or being serious. Sounds cool, but I don't think that many of us use our phones outside. Also, I think that most of us would have the phone inside of our pockets when outside so the screen wouldn't even have direct contact to the rays.

Nope I am not aggree with you in term of battery life.i have now galaxy s and I had seen full 720p movie named Megamind with50% brighness and only with 30% remaining battery.and with my surprise I watched full movie with 5% battery left.when I had my desire hd it just shuts off even I had 50% from the begining.so my conclusion is htc had good battery life but not as samsung.shocking but it's true:-(

[Q] Extended Battery?

So I sold my Inspire because the battery is garbage and can't last a day with heavy usage. So is there an extended battery that could make this phone last at least a day???? This phone is a big downgrade from the Atrix with that tiny battery
I saw a nice boost rooting and going with CM7 notmassive but better. Other then that consider trying a undervolted kernel, it worked for me. With some moderate to heavy usage im around 20 hours

Ill go get my brothers and try it. The only thing is that I like the full 1ghz. My Atrix can run the Tegra 2 with heavy usage for up to a solid 22hours.... I got to 26 once.

Well, if you already sold it and you consider it a downgrade from the Atrix, why would you still want an extended battery?
If battery is all that matters, then go with the atrix. You won't find much of a dev section for it though.
In any case, there isn't an extended battery available that will match the atrix, and any aftermarket ones with a listed capacity greater than the existing stock battery most likely won't perform at their advertised capacity anyhow.
There are tradeoffs with any phone. The inspire has to be micromanaged to optimize its battery, which admittedly, isn't the greatest.
Still wouldn't trade mine for an atrix, though.

Even rooted and running something like CM7 with, say, LorDmod's undervolted kernel he's still not going to get more than a day out of the phone with "heavy usage" unless it's underclocked as well. One of the biggest killers is the screen and backlight simply due to its sheer size.
I was able to pull 2days 14 hours out of an Inspire with LorDmod's -25mV undervolt but I'm pretty light on the usage.

I agree. The screen is what kills it for sure. No way around that, aside from reducing screen brightness and minimizing/optimizing all the other non-screen functions of the phone, to leave more juice for the screen to consume.
2 days 14 hrs is pretty good, but knowing what your screen-on time for that period was would put in better context.

Couldn't agree with you more. I started with the Inspire for a few days hated the battery and volume so I went with the Atrix. After 26+ days and the lack of development and the fact the phone got crazy hot after playing games for not long I decided to come back to Inspire. Haven't even thought about the Atrix since! The choice of REAL ROMs and the fact it's an overall much nicer feeling phone (not cheap feeling) sold me on the Inspire. Not to mention the fact that the screen on the Atrix, qHD and all, IMO sucks color wise compared to the Inspire. The "THD" games I bought weren't all that impressive IMO and cost more money as well. I am yet to have the Inspire run dead on me while I was out and if I know I'm going to be out for a while it's simple to bring a charger in the car and give it extra juice to last. Screw the Atrix and it's locked bootloader thanks to garbage Motorola!
*off rant* lol
Is keeping a spare batt on you feasible with this phone? I mean, is switching the battery a real pain in the butt on it? I'd be afraid of the door wearing out and not wanting to stay in place.

Pretty minimal. I get a lot of emails so it's on to check/reply to those and refresh a twitter feed. In that particular screenshot I had to reflash CM and the LorDmod kernel (it's the big drop around 60%).

Depends on where you open it. It's insanely easy to pull off if you put your nail under the volume buttons instead of the edge. Like this video shows.
Or you can hold off a few and grab one of these.

Lol. I actually *wanted* the atrix, aka Olympus, before it was released.
I guess it depends on what kind of impression your previous phone left you with, as well.
For me, I had a captivate, so just having a phone that I didn't have to worry about finding out it turned off on its own, or that gps actually works, set the bar pretty low in terms of what a better phone is.
That's not to minimize the inspire -- it really is a great phone in its own right, but still... Someone who's expecting an iPhone or feature phone in terms of battery performance is going to be in for a bit of readjustment going to an inspire.

Somehow I missed your screenshot before.
I'be been used to just looking at the actual numbers, too, so...
For me I can get about 5 hrs total screen time in between about 14-16 hrs between charges, with no CPU tweaks. There's room for improvement on that, as time goes on.

Yeah I came from an iPhone 4 before Android and I wasn't impressed with its battery. My battery was LOW at end of day but I also used the living hell out of it. I use the Inspire a bit less but I've been pretty busy since I got it. The battery could be better sure but it lasts me a full day so far.

IPhone 4S

Thoughts?
In my option
Tegra 2 > apple A5
8mp camera with 1080p support (welcome to 3-5 months ago. Although the iPhone probably will have the best camera the IMO the iPhone 4 did. It was the fastest camera and produced the best pictures and video)
Support for Att 4g HSPA+ network (welcome to 6+ months ago and tmobiles hspa+ network >>> then att's)
64gb (cool but for $400 with 2year contract no thanks)
IOS 5 ( this will be cool. Although I like Android better I still think iOS is very nice and well developed and now that apple has copied all the advantages Android has I'm sure it will be awesome.... let the Patten law suits continue)
I think I got all the new things in the 4s.

I lol'd so hard at their announcement of the 4S. It is now obvious why Appple sued Samsung for the Galaxy S2. The S2 is more advanced and came out early 2011. Just wait until the Galaxy S3 is released with a 16megpix camera, hd amoled screen, and quadcore cpu.
I definitely do not want a rehashed iPhone4. But really, Tegra2 > A5? A5 destroys it in every benchmark I've seen since the iPad 2 dropped. They're not even in the same league. I love my G2x's build quality, but thats it.... after owning multiple dual core devices (including iPad2) Tegra2 is definitely the bottom of the dual core barrel.

I was keeping up on it too. I lol'd too. These ifans were totally dishing Android devices saying the iFone 5 will destroy any android phone... lmao and then it dropped. I heard the hearts hit their stomachs from my desk chair.
Basically they are releasing what the iPhone 4 should have been last year. Releasing it now is a joke.

Not really. When the iPhone 4 came out it was top of the line. There were no dualcore phone and the phone competing with it also had 1ghz processors (galaxy s evo Droid x Droid incredible etc).
Competing phones also had 5mp cameras with only 720p recording. And the iPhone had the best screen when it launched.

I like android and the Tegra is a lot better then the a5 but I don't think the iPhone 4s needs to be specced high because it goes perfect with the os. Just giving my opinion
I wanna see how the camera is on it. Should be amazing

Just another Apple piece of shart IMHO. I switched from AT&T and Apple when the G2x came out. Best choice I have made in a phone in years. Even with all of the issues at start up I still would NEVER go back to the Apple product.

ONLY thing I 'm jealous about iOS is there battery life... we all wake up around the same time work jobs where we cant charge are phones or be on them much, and we meet up at the bar and my two of my buddies with iPhones have about 75% left where me and my friend (she has a droid X) have around 40% she actually has to charge her phone mid day cause she isn't rooted. My friends are a little jealous of me cause of what I can do with my android device with root and what not... That's the only thing though. Now that the iPhone's iOS 5 is announced and has a lot of android underneath it.... I might be a little jealous of them lol... just being honest here. I don't get how they have such great battery life compared to Android.

Underclocked processors. False multitasking. Software specifically optimized for specific hardware from top to bottom. Unicorn (or Unicron) blood. Absorbing millions of souls of innocent children. Gimping the hardware a bit to make the battery take up a more than significant chunk of the guts of the phone. Seriously, the iPhone 4 battery takes up around 2/3 of the inside space, or at least seemed that way when I opened one up for the fun of it.

ya all agreed with but there phone is still as fast as my g2x overclocked with a dual core processor, at least able to keep up with it so I can't really tell a noticeable difference... except in data speeds holy hell I'd kill myself with what they get on at&t... but in all seriousness I loves my android still. might not get 36+ hours but at least I'm not the rest of the pretentious douches (not all are but most I encounter). The friends that have it of mine only got it cause I told them it is a simple smart phone that is fast and takes good pictures, that's all they needed to hear, lol.

well my three close friends with iPhones always have over 70% especially the one with the 3gs after a 10 hour day, by the time we get to the bar they say they aren't charging it at all mid-day. I will have about 40%.
Either 2.3.3 Weapon's 2.5 best I was getting 15 hours with no games but everything else I used pretty heavy on the way to work and back from work, hour commute each way. Right now I'm on MIUI and since 8:30 this morning(its now 7:30pm for me) I'm at 50%, dont know why but I always get great battery life with MIUI just not stable enough for me. Either way I don't want an iPhone at all, haha.

I dont agree with any of that.
The camera comaprison you posted they all looked like crap and not one looked better then the other.
PLUS they didnt even shoot the same subject in each picture. That comparison has no credibility in my option.
I still think the iPhone 4 had the best camera. My Samsung Infuse camera is pretty good. But i think the 4S will be the best camera.
I dont believe the Tegra 2 is slowest. But i couldnt find a lot of info reguarding the newer cores. Only the older cores.
Dosnt really matter though because we will have the iPhone 4S for at LEAST a year. Where Q1 of 2012 the Kal-Ei quad-core chips will be out and Dual Core will be yesterdays news.
In the end though. The Tegra 2. Snap Dragon, Apple A8, and Exynos are MORE then enough CPU/GPU power for todays Smartphones.

Why can't Samsung/HTC be like Nokia? Why does Android still somewhat sucks?

I dropped Nokia after being soured by their N97 fiasco. Used Android exclusively since then, but for the most part, hardware was crap - sure processors were blazing fast but cameras sucked, such simple features as FM transmitter weren't available and the most important thing - battery life was horrible (sorry, coming from the other brand, getting 16 hours of battery life is horrible). So I decided to give Nokia N8 a chance... sure, the latest iteration of Symbian does feel outdated, but not too bad, I don't have 2342343 fart apps and finding apps is a pain. Now the good stuff - I get 2.5 days where with Android I'd get less than 24 hours, camera is superb, build quality is awesome (all aluminum), reception is WAY better than on any HTC/Samsung mobile that I had, actually useful features, phone is very snappy.
So the question begs... Why, why can't Android (which is the superior OS at this time) can't get such a battery life? Why do manufacturers insist on putting so-so cameras in their handsets? Why use all plastic in the construction? Why.. why..
Sad to say, but I'm way more satisfied with a device running a somewhat outdated OS.
And where exactly are you purchasing these Android brand cell phones?
What brand? The HTCs and Samsungs? Well, one came from Ebay, few came from the carriers. See, I didn't specify any specific models because every single ones that I used lacked in few important things, such as battery life. Either way, let's hope Android survives its retarded fragmentation and becomes just as stable (but not as stale) as Symbian has.

You should consider WP7. Nokia is doing some hardware with WP7 in mind. They currently have the Lumia 800 (N9) and the Lumia 710. There isn't anything better than WP7 in my experience. It's even better than iOS. The battery life isn't too good right now, but Nokia's hardware may have that resolved.
Give WP7 a nod and check it out.

My camera is great. And as much as I use my phone...a day is pretty good for battery life..my. phone is a beast..
sent...ah whatever its on there now..
Well no OS is perfect, but all are satisfactory. Battery life is more or less due to Android inefficiency at handling resources. Camera, well that depends on the maunfacturers. To be honest, we all don't need or atleast I don't even need a N8 camera on my phone. I'm not the best photographer or do I expect to be, hence why my average 8MP is good enough for me. Nor do I always want to zoom into a photo to see the little details I captured. I like it exactly 8"x11".

It's perfectly understandable. This was more of personal rant for me - I'm kinda pissed that what I think is a superior OS doesn't do it for me, nothing more.
P.S. I disagree that all are satisfactory... Symbian S60v5 was something truly out of a horror movie.
Well I can't really say for symbian since I have never extensively used it. But judging from what I read about symbian, I will retract my statement of all are satisfactory.
I have to say, although Im an avid Android user, I feel its unfinished and lacks the polish both WP7 and iOS have. Whether ICS attempts to rectify this I'm not sure yet. The only thing thats stopping jump onto WP7 is lack of lastest gen hardware.
Give my a 720p with a dual-core proccessor and I'll be first in line!
I think the deal with battery life isn't always the battery or OS, but WHAT the phone can do and how often you use it. My old N95 8gb which I LOVED and hung onto for many years (and claimed a high price when recycled), that thing had many functions and that battery could last for hours or days, things like GPS/Maps (with the 3G loading more map squares as you move). The only time my Nexus S hasn't lasted a day unexpectedly was when I found the Facebook chat talking away in the background !! (quickly removed after that incident) I like the battery monitor graph so I can identify if there's a specific battery hog, but otherwise I always think if your phone is awesome and has many apps then the battery won't last long because you'll want to use it all the time. I imagine blackberry's last for a long time because they don't do anything fun afaik. :3
Also I find my OS very good ("pure Android"), and it gets frequent updates.

I agree, Nokia is just superb in overall quality. Samsung focuses on great screens, HTC caters to gimmicks and openness and is pretty much favored largely by members here because they push the openness... Horrid build quality though. Nokia is just superb in quality. I'm so glad that they now utilize an OS that can keep up.

hmmm.. the camera on my evo 3D works amazingly. it is exceptional in my opinion. just because the the default "auto settings" aren't amazing, doesn't make it terrible. adjust the exposure, sharpness (all available in settings) bam, amazing pictures.
i'm not quite sure why the battery life is so bad on most android phones? the only thing i can think of (theory obviously, but logical) is that a lot of the top end android phones like mine for example have big processors and bigger screens... that display CHEWS through my battery life like you would not believe. it is rarely less than 50 percent of the battery consumption.
needless to say, another thing i enjoy about android is the fact that there are always expandable battery options. the one in my phone is currently the 4,000 mah from seido... i charge my phone once a week.
i have said it once, and again, i will never own a smartphone that cannot be rooted/jailbroken... there is too much spying going on from carriers and phone companies. they know what apps you use, how often you use them, and when you uninstall them. if you think i am making this up, you are a fool. they do this to market to you every time you log into the app store/market so they know what to throw at you - things you like...
i personally like to have all of that stuff NOT on my phone. for me, android provides freedom to choose what i put on my phone and who gets to see it... not the other way around. plus all of the customization that comes with android platforms. i would take a dream machine phone to move me in a different direction.
either way, here is a screen shot of my last battery cycle, this a modest example as there was very heavy use this past weekend. usually i charge it on a monday and it lasts till saturday/sunday...
oh and cool story bro
EDIT*** oh and z33, i totally agree with you about build quality. the build quality on the evo 3D seems rugged and archaic. i wish it was a little more "sexy" looking. i just love the utter performance of the thing. it is astounding the things this phone is capable of.
i think of it like.... apple products and a select few of other phones are like ferraris to me... and my phone is like a 67 camaro with a chevy big block and blower.... doesn't look to nice, but eats up anything in performance.
the lumia 800 is said to get over 27 hours heavy usage on 1450 mh, and that's immensely heavy use. I'll be testing this once I have it in my possession but it's another testament to Nokia optimization.
that would be expected out of a single core phone with a 3.7 inch low resolution display. not surprising.
and i shouldn't say low resolution, i guess the appropriate observation would be "lower" resolution than many others out there. most are pushing HD pixels.... 800x480 or whatever it is, is pretty bare minimum by today's standards. but on a smaller screen i suppose it will still look pretty slick and sharp.

The apps are atrocious, I have been using an HD7 for about a week and I am quite reaady to switch back. Moving to a Nexus One by the end of the week.
i tried the n9 yesterday, and i must say that the UI i far ahead of both android and ios. however, it has almost no apps compared to android/ios, and it is probably going to stay that way since nokia has dropped meamo.

HTC meh

This is offtopic i know but felt like discussing about HTC. Lately HTC been doing a lot of stupid things and making bad decisions imo anyways. Non-removable battery, taking away external sdcard support(some phones) opting for thinner phones over better battery life, and now this.. http://androidandme.com/2012/04/smartphones-2/htc-is-moving-away-from-qwerty-keyboard-phones/
My first phone was the OG T-mobile G1 and i still consider it one of the best phones ever made not just because it was a solid phone that HTC built and T-mobile released but because XDA made it into so much more of a useful phone then it could ever have been without devs. There will always be room for Keyboard phones, I was really really hoping/begging HTC would make the G3 with some killer specs and it's awesome keyboard combo, but it looks like HTC wants nothing to do with it anymore.
Really HTC if they wanna impress us they need to quit making phones that have horrible battery life, thinner is not gonna be better. Hell were talking a difference of maybe 1 or 2 less mm in a phone when all we care about is a better battery life, quit giving us 1500-1800mah batteries and dish out some 2500-3000+ battery that will last at least throughout the day or two.
HTC "Thin is not in B**** i like my girls with a little bit of meat on their bones lol
/end rant
I had the same reaction. HTC has always made the best qwerty phones, my vision is a great phone and my Rhodium is still one of the best phones ever released.
This is almost as bad at AT&T mangling the one X by reducing the number of cores and the onboard memory just to shove LTE on board. LTE is nice but personally 90% of my data usage is on wifi and the rest is just email and light browsing when I travel so its not a real selling point for me.
Give me a phone that is buttery smooth and last a day or more, if you can also throw a keyboard on there then I'll take two.

I remember my first HTC phone, it was the HTC HD2 which had android on it. I spent $350 US for it. It stopped working on me 1 month after the 1year warranty expired. The touch screen stopped working because they placed the ribbon cable under the "end" button. Apparently is a common issue with the phone.
I swore never to buy another HTC phone again.
Removing the sd card and put in an non exchangeable battery...Iphone much?
Thats one of the reason Im using android. My G2X can last me all day. With the 1550MAh battery I had to charge twice but with my 3500Mah battery from 9am to 12am on mid usage i would have 20% left
Anyway, I don't care what HTC does anymore.
I too am a hard keyboard lover. My first experience with HTC was probably the vougue. Although it had no keyboard I fell in love with the little bit of sense that was incorporated on it. Then I went to touch pro and touch pro2. I absolutely loved the keyboards. From then i went to EVO 4G and now evo3d. Although I like the keyboards I think HTC is still a solid phone and can do without the keyboard if I have to.
The new EVO LTE coming to Sprint once again has no keyboard but they are making it with a removable battery and micro SD card acceptable. Don't think the gsm models are the same. I am disappointed that they didn't leave the quad core in it but it is what it is

I'm sorry zoppp but that is like saying "we just need a cure for cancer, somebody get to work."
The problem with technology is that yesterdays big breakthrough is today's outdated technology. Mobile phones have become more personal than the personal computer so there will never be a one size fits all solution. If there were we would all be stuck with iOS.
I like my Samsung focus, its slim, has a nice screen, it's light and the battery last all day. Its also made of cheap, creaky plastic that I despise at the same time.
Personally I think a little more heft is ok when the phone has a 'quality' feel to it. I also think its ok when I get a nice physical keyboard. If the phone weighed a little more but lasted 2 days that would be phenomenal too, it just can't weigh 5 lbs if it wants to be in my pocket...

2,150mAh battery.....come on....
Although you make a valid point. Have you seen the battery life of the Nexus 5x on 6.0? It has a 2700mah battery and one guy testing it said that after a full day of use he had 76% phone batty left. Now I know this isn't the same phone, but we need to hold out and see what M is going to do for battery life. Also supposedly with quick charge 3.0 the phone will by 0-90% charged in 15 minutes. I know that Android hasn't had the best track record for battery life, but maybe it will all change with M!

I compare from Hardware device to device, not from Android version to version. If M gives extra battery life to A9, it might give even longer batt life to some other phone.
On each new version they get something right but mess with things that were working.
If they moved the fingerprint sensor in the power button like sony did and placed boomsound speakers bam!!! I would buy the phone instantly.
Modaco Paul Obrien just tweeted "Actual numbers to follow in my review, but One A9 battery life from a 2150mAh battery is nothing short of miraculous for my usage."

Really hope HTC gets it right...This phone could be my next.....Have to wait and see.
Actually its more like they moved back on battery size. The M8 and M9 both had fairly large batteries (between 2600-2800mAh if I'm not mistaken).
So hard to understand what they're thinking. I can't see in which direction they're going.
Hope next phone will be something serious!
HTC sometimes resemble 14 year old teenagers going from one extremum to the other. I really don't understand what they did here. They put 2150mha battery in a phone sized exactly the same as M9. My oh my. Why htc? The only reason I could think of is that they wanted to advertise quick charging and put 80% in 15mins instead of 60% because it will look better!
They finally released a decent midrange device for a decent prize but once again they f... up!
The funniest thing is that they always put so much emphasis on the camera (since htc one x) and they were always mediocre at best because the software controlling the image sensor was garbage.
I just hope some sane people will do some good with M10. I really wanna try another HTC.
It can be that the 2200 mA are enough for the stock OS without any 3th Party Apps.
For example the iPhone 6: If I have restore the device as a new one without download any Apps or connected Mail Services the device run for a week. But if I install WhatsApp, Facebook, an IMAP or Exchange Server the battery is go dead after 7 - 8h.
Not the device is the big issue here, its the software and the user. Nobody test his device with 3th Party Apps. A real field test is that what the manufacturer need.
I think the A9 has a great battery runtime - but only out of the box.
I have the Nexus 5X, uses 30% in a day. Amazing.

This is complete BS. You know damn well phone companies need to spec out phones for the real world. Now, their claims for a certain number of hours on a single charge, of course are when tested with stock software and nothing else. But they know damn well that in the real world, they need at least 50% more juice.
2100 mAh.... disgusting. How is any company releasing a phone without at least 2800 is beyond me. I have a Droid Turbo at 3900, and it's still as slim and sexy as any phone out there.

Hey dbornack,
this is wrong. Apple only tests with stock ROM without any Apps.
Testing conducted by Apple in August 2015 using preproduction iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus units and software, on both GSM and CDMA carrier networks. All settings were default except: Wi-Fi was associated with a network; the Wi-Fi feature Ask to Join Networks was turned off. Hey Siri was not enabled.

If i have more threads running on a device it is normal that the battery is draining quickly then with less. You can try it by yourself: restore the device as a new one and compare it with a lot of Apps installed. You will feel the difference :good:

You are right that "phone companies need to spec out phones for the real world". At the same time, it is early to say anything about HTC's 2100 mAh approach. Because, show me a phone company (Android) that has the specs in the real world (not on papers) to have the best battery/performance/display. eg. -we know when HTC released HTC One X, it was blazing fast and now its not! Same with the other series/brands. Now the question is what is going wrong - The newly released IPhone 6s plus lags, with top specs Samsung Edge plus lags (Sammies might be afraid to talk on this), almost all of them, because everyone is in the spec race. At one point Apple got it right and they made the balanced processor which consumes less RAM and battery. Now we need to look for such a balanced device, which doesn't boast with SOC SD820, QHD display for which 3,000 MaH/3GB RAM is not sufficient. We need a device which has amazing screen (QHD - no need for human eyes in 5 inch screen), great design, great performance, awesome camera and good memory. I think SD617 is best at handling these tasks quietly, at least from what I am hearing from testers.
When we get the phone on our hands, we will really know the truth. If HTC made that balanced device, it's a new revolution in the android industry. It seems HTC trusts its efforts and that is the reason they are offering free return after a month use (on the phone we bought on special price of $399). And we really don't have a reason to complain at this point of time, as we have all opportunity to test it and change the mind later too.
I welcome this new revolution of HTC, hopefully the the phone turns out to be the best! and the marketing strategy to repair the damages made in the past is very good too. It needs guts to take challenge in such a competitive market, and I am really happy to see HTC doing it again.
The price point - I think it is going to be $699 off contract after the discount ends. That sounds reasonable because of its after sale service, which includes following:
1. Replacing damaged device for free
2. Free switch from one service provider to other one
3. +15 days Android update
4. Warranty even after unlocking bootloader (not sure if it is only for unlocked devices)
Please don't compare this with Oppo, huawei, Micromax and other phones.. This phone has premium hardwares inside and after sale service is awesome. I need not worry much on dropping my phone every time I hold in my hand. I have Micromax device with top specs and processor lagging every time my friend used it.
PS - I don't care on the slogan of people - HTC copied Apple. Being a customer I am not affected. After signing 10 year no sue agreement Apple stole HTC's design (immediately after signing) and today if HTC's phone looks like Apple it's not their problem. Anyway both can't sue each other and not waste millions of $. IPhone 6 design is most liked design (by maximum phone users in the world - sales history says that) and today if HTC has the same design, I have no reason to hate.

2100 is fine with the display and cpu combo. And some reports bad life from even the 6p with 3500 and the moto style where no battery life campion with even 3500.

Finally someone who sums it up perfectly. I'm looking forward to buy this phone and to be honest I really don't care about the battery size. I don't think it would be worse than my nexus 5 and btw I don't understand the problems some people had with the nexus. It all depends on how you use a phone.
The only thing I don't understand is htc's price politics. Here in Germany it's gonna cost 580€, but in the US it's only at 399$ PLUS here we only get 16GB internal storage not 32 and 2GB RAM and not 3.
if iphone 6s users are fine with sub 2000mah then im sure the a9 will do fine to get through most of the day.

you must be in the minority because most are saying the battery life is terrible.
