[Q] So has anyone been put off?

So has anyone been put off by this device and the initial (lack of) reviews and comments from other posters?
I was 100% sure to get it, but held out a few days and now kind of feel 75% sure and wondering now whether to wait for the Evo 3D or even wait a few more months and see what else HTC will bring to the table.
I'm no Samsung fanboy and personally hate my gf's galaxy but i still think HTC haven't shouted enough about this device to persuade me that it's their flagship device like the Desire was last year.
I know it's early days and there is still time for sense to be updated but i'm just not feeling any hype about it.
I wish people with the device would make more threads about their experiences with it. At the moment it seems there are just a few threads floating about.
I've yet to see a good battery thread with praise or complaints....This..to me is the big deciding factor. Since my Desire, with heavy usage, can barely got 4 hours I know pretty much anything can beat it, but it'd be nice to have a device where i can have all my widgets and syncing going on without the worry of needing to charge it at lunch time.

Chances of it coming to UK is minimal though

Elaborate on the battery please, it's my biggest deal breaker

Its a bit too early too comment, a few cycles in is the perfect time to comment... out of the box battery will obviously be a lot different to what it will be like in a couple of weeks of usage.

personally, i'm still not convinced by that argument. I've had my fair share of phones and never seen a difference....I think the fact that the user stops using it as much as when in the honeymoon period, thus seems like the battery is better...

Yeh, that is one way of looking at it, but you also find the settings that are best for you and your own usage of the phone, thus making it easier to manage the battery usage... such as brightness of the screen... what apps you use etc and etc. There is unfortunately, a million and one ways to look at the argument
The biggest and best question i would ask people, is are they HAPPY with the phone? if not, why? and if so, why?

I am happy with this phone.
battery, if you don't play lots of game or browse website, it can last 1 day. battery is always the big issue with smart phones.

Root it and you never stop using it

Looks like those HTC's won't be coming to the UK...for AT&T and LTE.

Also nobody knows when the Holiday and Lead are coming out. Nor when the GSM version of the Evo 3D are coming out. If you need a new phone there's not much point in waiting for an unspecified future date in the hopes of something better as something better is always coming (don't forget the rumours that Samsung will release a new flagship every 6 months). If you just want a new cell phone and can handle to wait then sure, go ahead.
As for the reviews... I get the impression that HTC was pressed for time. Not exactly rushed, but close to it. If you recall the ROMs on some of the preliminary models shown in hands-ons were only using one core and they supposedly had a firmware upgrade just before releasing. Add to that the bad press over the preliminary benchmarks which were worse than the Nexus One and maybe HTC didn't want to hand out review units until it was completely ready (which I get the impression was the actual launch of the device). We know Slashgear is getting a review ready and I think it's safe to assume GSMArena is too so I just wait a bit more. If you aren't convinced then go with another phone which does convince you. The important thing is that you be happy with whatever decision you make.

I have . . . paused. I really wanted it, but the lack of praise on this forum has made me wonder. But I really I cant see myself with the galaxy II. My gf has the Galaxy s and whilst its quick, i miss the heft of my HD2 when i hold it.
So it feels alot like the Sensation, with or without shortcomings, is the only other path right now. Does anyone else feel that way?

The quality of the device is fantastic. It feels really nice, the screen is amazing. The new qHD display is nice, bit different from the WVGA, and I think I already prefer it.
Missing root but I hope (really hope) this will come

Just waiting for root and I'll be jumping to buy one. I need a front facing camera and as I'm completely happy with the Desire HD this is a step up of the same plus the added speed. Keep looking at the SGSII but that plastic is sooooooo off putting

...been intending on signing up and posting a few bits but have been too lazy recently, but I shall do so now.
The above is what I was going to say. The phone hasn't been launched properly yet, it's effectively just Vodafone customers getting a bit of a pre-release taster. I wouldn't be surprised if we're also being used as a bit of a test group so that they can see what we like/don't like and what needs fixing/ramping up in future releases. I also expect the ROM that's shipped with the general release phones to be updated from what we've got, considering that they have a month of user testing to look at.
As for the phone, I haven't transferred my number over yet and I can't use my T-Mobile SIM as although allows me to text and call, it doesn't seem to want to allow Internet on my phone. So although I've played with it, I haven't really 'used' it yet. It seems really, really nice though. Screen is lovely and going back to using my Hero today feels like going back to some lo-res toy!
Couple of things I'll say aren't too good:
The LED notification is really hard to see compared to the full blown 100 megawatt light on my hero.
The browser, although really good, doesn't seem to like full flash sites. I was trying to watch a few highlights videos from ehlhockey.tv and it was really struggling, but that may just be me or the dire, dire design of the site as full flash sites are made by the devil himself!!
Battery will need a bit more time, but I took the phone off charge at about 6pm last night and checked it at 7am this morning and it was still on 100% with WiFi on. I think HTC have somehow discovered perpetual energy. If it's on 100% when I get back tonight then I'm going to be hooking it up to the mains in the house and living off of the free HTC electricity!

Haha good stuff. But don't stop there. notify the power companies and hook it up to the national grid before another Sensation user does it HTC might be on to a real winner with the battery

First impressions
As you can see from my signature, I've had a broad range of OSs and devices in my hand, and must admit, going from a much played-with HD2 to this Sensation is the biggest jump advancing jump I've made.
The HD2 made upgrading a hard choice, we were spoilt with that, so on doing my research, playing with many Samsungs, Motorolas, Nokias etc (much to the annoyance of shop staff) none of them made any impression above 'meh' in a lot of my criteria other than the Sensation.
I've been bullying this poor thing for 48 hours now, and there has only been one glitch - HTC sync decided not to play for about 20 mins, but after Win7 forced a driver upon it, it was very fluid. The same as the rest of my experiences of this device.
I've got an overlap of contracts this month so i've been testing real-world 3g usage on both O2 and Vodafone, and must say, this battery life is like a backpack worth of battery compared to the HD2, on a par with the large-ish one in the X1.

I believe that we have a truly amazing device in our hands. If you love your oneS then the least you could do is to write a good review about somewhere like on amazon or something especially since now we have some saboteurs trying to ruin our devices name and drop its rating to zero. But in actuality if our device gets horrible reviews no new developers will come here to work with our phones. I don't believe that is fair and so I am starting my own campaign called goodreview-Aday where I will give positive feedback on our device and rate it high on several major websites that sell our phone such as amazon eBay etc. Everybody can join me to keep development alive for our phone! If everybody not experiencing the alleged issue wrote one good review on one site their evil little "campaign" will have no chance!

Regarding the first post, developers won't go by "user reviews" on shop sites, they will look into all the hardware detail and kernel source/drivers/software stuff etc. and if they like what they see then they will buy it.

Not any more, HTC have reworked the One S to use the Snapdragon S3, and for most regions outside the US at least all newly manufactured units will be the revised spec.

Agreed, and now that they seem to have done something about the metal arc oxidation issues its build quality is great.

Yes, yes and yes, the Beats gimmick aside the regular audio output is of very good quality as GSMArena's measurements show. Camera is a delight to use, although the S3 version has a small buffer lag between shots. Battery life, surprisingly, seems to be very similar between the S3 and S4 models.

Yes, Sense 4 is really good, better than TouchWiz although I suspect most people on XDA prefer stock Android if it means faster updates
Personally, I think the One S was a really good phone when it launched, but the change to the S3 processor has changed my view of the model significantly; it is still a good phone for what it is but the price is too high for a phone using a 2010 chip.

I agree this device is amazing-but Htc needs to step up their game and provide S-Off and in general be more developer friendly -Htc Dev has done more harm then good it seems to me and recovery is a mess some use twrp others prefer cmw - If Htc would show better support It would be one the best phones to date Just my 2c

And the UK still has quite a lot of S4's. Although S3's are being sold here as well, but not sure which places are selling only those versions. I think amazon are only supplying the S3 versions now. AFAIK the network shops still have supplies of the S4 version.

Completely agree about that with regards to the S3 version.
Regarding the battery and speed, I thought it was the other way round (in real world usage), battery much worse and performance isn't as good but for standard usage like games etc. there isn't a huge difference.
Doesn't help when no one has posted any info. on the battery of the S3 though i.e. screen shots and detailed info..........

^Absolutely agree with this. Recovery really is a mess.
The rest of the device is overall good, but there are some cons to go with the pros.
+ Nice display, accurate colors. PenTile didn't bother me a bit. Great viewing angles and black is truly black, unlike on the Samsung devices where black appears blotchy. 4.3 for me seems the sweet spot for screen size and overall phone size.
+ Slimness of device is nearly unparalleled.
+ Speed (based on S4) is best-in-class
+ Battery life (on Sense ROMs) is excellent
+ Camera and Video capabilities are excellent
- Overall call quality on the latest two radios is awful. Crackling and full of static. This is subjective, and I'm in Los Angeles, which isn't known for amazing AT&T voice quality. This leads me to
- Inconsistent data speeds. Again subjective, but my Lumia 800 seems to pull down faster and more consistent speeds on the ATT HSPA network.
- SIM Cover starts to creak if you remove it more than the first time you install your SIM.
- Placement of the power button at top right for this tall a device is not ergonomic. AOSP/CM10-based ROMs enable wake via volume rocker, which is useful, but inconsistent.
- Saving the biggest for last, is the keyboard accuracy. The stock Sense keyboard is terrible, but the replacements in the market aren't much better. I consistently make ridiculous typing mistakes on Android's keyboards even after calibrating them. How many times do I have to type out 'The quick brown fox jumps over a lazy dog' in order to have it make a difference? This is, again, subjective, but with my large hands on a large device with plenty of screen real-estate, the keyboard should just work. And unfortunately on this device, it doesn't.

Recoveries come from our local friendly developers if your recovery is a mess contact them it is no way htcs fault. I love this phone despite no s-off. And that's okay for me lol we will steal it from the Onex one day lol.
For the new radios and your crackling problem, most unlocked android devices have this issue when you unlock them I have a sidekick 4g on att right now and this on tmob and there is a compareable difference

I absolutely love this device. I had the choice between the one s and the s3 and chose this one and am really pleased. It fits my hands perfectly and outperforms most devices. The battery life is unparalleled. I average 4 to 6 hours on screen time while some friends with s3's only get 2 hours with power saving on. The lack of s off is little annoying but not that big of a deal for me since my hboot is so low. As for the people spreading negative reviews in hopes to "teach HTC a lessons" this is a horrible approach. Operation rolling thunder should be stopped!!

Just wanted to mention that on Tuesday 11/09/2012 i received my nice new htc one s from talktalk.co.uk ( run on vodafone network) and it is a Z560e model (Ville C aka S3) version, personally i am not to bothered but figured worth mention for anyone who maybe intrested in UK

My One S
My S one is about 5 months old. After years as a Nokia fan-boy I finally gave in and reluctantly jumped ship. So I was presented with a problem: Which phone do I get. I won't be taking up a place in a queue for the new iPhone 5 with the iSheep - as a Ubuntu user getting an android was a no-brainer. I chose the One S because 1/ it wasn't Samsung (my personal prejudice) 2/ the One X was slightly too big for my taste.
I know Nokia missed a very big boat by sticking with Symbian for so long, but on a personal level I was happy because I know them inside out I can mod them easily and enjoyed playing about with them despite the limitations. In fact the limitations made it more of a challenge and more interesting.Eventually the lack of progress Symbian was making, combined with the fact that Nokia jumped in to bed with Micros*#t forced my hand. So to be honest, I waited for T-Mobile to deliver my One S with very little enthusiasm. That's changed. I love my One S.
So as it's my first Android I can't say its any better or worse than a Galaxy III, a WildFire or a Nexus. I do know that I am very happy with it. On the hardware side I am happy about the lovely big screen, the slim casing and the nice finish. I am very happy with the processor speed and flawless screen refresh. Battery life could be better, but I will never be happy with battery life. Software wise, I am happy that there are people out there making ROMs which while flawed are keeping me very busy and making me feel like I have a new phone every week or so. I am happy that I have a JB based ROM while HTC has yet to release the "official" JB for the One S.
Which is all a long winded way of saying I love it.

Firstly lets have a look at performance, shall we?
Have a look at these benchmarks of the X (s4 version) compared to the GS 3:

Notice how any test, which relies solely on the CPU is better on the S/X (S4)? Take it that isn't enough? Here have another benchmark comparison by another expert site:

Once again, notice the CPU dependant tests?
Heck even the one S and XL holds it own very well in the other tests that are reliant on the GPU etc.
So much better performance per core (which is much better rather than having an extra 2 cores considering nearly every android app still doesn't fully utilise dual core let alone quad, therefore the much better performance for one core is better!).
However, that is just benchmarks, which only shows the potential power and doesn't really relate to real world usage. Have you actually used the mobiles yourself and compared tasks to see which is quicker?
I have (along with many others phones) and the S is the quickest/snappiest android device there is, quicker than the GS 3 especially in launching/loading apps, game levels, installing apps/games, loading thumbnails in the gallery etc.
Now onto battery life/power efficiency:
Lets take the XL for this test as it is more fair since it has the 720P res. and bigger screen, although it does have a much smaller battery compared to the GS 3, but have a look here anyway:

Although I always take benchmarks for battery life with a pinch of salt as they aren't exactly a great representative when it comes to real world usage.
But reading through many posts, XL users are able to get up 6 hours on screen time (auto brightness) spread across 1-2 days, where as the best that GS 3 users seem to get is around 5 hours spread across 1-2 days, on average the XL users are getting 4-5 hours on screen time with 1-3 days usage and on average the GS 3 users are getting 3-4 hours on screen time spread across 1-2 days.
Can you read the graphs ok?
Also nothing wrong with the battery life on my stock S and same goes for many other people. Like to see GS 3 users get the same as me with my usage......

Now onto the heat that the chips generate, well there simply is no contest in this area, here is a video comparing the S4 to the exynos dual core chip used in the GS 2 and some other CPU, which is used in one of Motorola's phones:
And the exynos quad won't run any cooler than the S4.
Oh and yup the adreno 225 combined with the S4 is real xxxxx, oh wait..........

I personally find the typing is very good even with the sense keyboard.
With swiftkey it is even better!

Once again, notice the CPU dependant tests?
Heck even the one S and XL holds it own very well in the other tests that are reliant on the GPU etc.
So much better performance per core (which is much better rather than having an extra 2 cores considering nearly every android app still doesn't fully utilise dual core let alone quad, therefore the much better performance for one core is better!).
However, that is just benchmarks, which only shows the potential power and doesn't really relate to real world usage. Have you actually used the mobiles yourself and compared tasks to see which is quicker?
I have (along with many others phones) and the S is the quickest/snappiest android device there is, quicker than the GS 3 especially in launching/loading apps, game levels, installing apps/games, loading thumbnails in the gallery etc.
Now onto battery life/power efficiency:
Lets take the XL for this test as it is more fair since it has the 720P res. and bigger screen, although it does have a much smaller battery compared to the GS 3, but have a look here anyway:

Although I always take benchmarks for battery life with a pinch of salt as they aren't exactly a great representative when it comes to real world usage.
But reading through many posts, XL users are able to get up 6 hours on screen time (auto brightness) spread across 1-2 days, where as the best that GS 3 users seem to get is around 5 hours spread across 1-2 days, on average the XL users are getting 4-5 hours on screen time with 1-3 days usage and on average the GS 3 users are getting 3-4 hours on screen time spread across 1-2 days.
Can you read the graphs ok?
Also nothing wrong with the battery life on my stock S and same goes for many other people. Like to see GS 3 users get the same as me with my usage......

Now onto the heat that the chips generate, well there simply is no contest in this area, here is a video comparing the S4 to the exynos dual core chip used in the GS 2 and some other CPU, which is used in one of Motorola's phones:
And the exynos quad won't run any cooler than the S4.

Just because I dont own it doesnt mean I havent used it. I work for a phone shop and my co-worker has this phone. I think it's "interesting" to see HTC uses the S3 in the version sold in all regions in Asian Pacific, and yet charges the same price as the S4 version. Not sure how amazing Sense 4.1 will be once it comes but from what I've seen out of the box it's laggy. But I guess it's gonna really a big injustice since no-one asks for it anyway. Everyone buys either Samsung or Apple or (rarely) One X.

Biased? lol yeah right I dont even own those phones. And to say that sense 4.0 is smoother than Touchcrap 4.0 and iOS5 is just outright lying. Yes it's smoother than sense 3.0 but it's still laggy and I have been following the One X long enough to know that A LOT OF people complain about how laggy sense 4.0 was.
And FYI people dont ask about HTC not because HTC doesnt advertise enough. As a matter of fact a lot people know about them. They just dont buy them because HTC has the reputation of making buggy phones. And as a former owner of 2 HTC phones I cant say I disagree.

You got an S3, didn't you? I'm sorry about that and have been quite out-spoken about HTC's idiotic behavior regarding other countries, but the S4 One S is a great piece of machinery.

I have never had on hands experience with the S3 version so can't comment on it, however, when I have had my S4 one S side by side with the GS 3 (quad) and the 4s, the one S has been quicker/snappier/instant smartphone and the GS 3 appears smoother overall, although this is largely down to the animations and the animation scaling used, when JB arrives on both phones there should be no difference at all then really, in terms of smoothness.
I have found the 4s/4 to be laggy in quite a few places personally and not as silky smooth as what many people make it out to be.
Also, the one X hardware (tegra 3) was very poorly optimized with sense/ICS, when the mobile was first released, it was so laggy and nowhere as instant as the one S (S4), since the last update it has improved somewhat, however, still not as good as the S (S4) and GS 3, with JB it should be much better as the nexus 7 has the exact same hardware and it is smoother and faster than both the GS 3 and S, of course assuming HTC don't **** up with driver optimisation on sense Vxx whatever it will be with JB.
Regarding why people don't get HTC handsets, yes for some reason people seem to think they're an awful company with poor phones, I would have agreed with some of their phones (largely the desire HD, IMO their worst phone), however, most of their phones (especially the one series) are actually very good and out of the people I know who have a HTC android device have been very happy with theirs and not had any problems (a lot of people absolutely love sense, the homescreen and widgets impresses the "average joes" a lot). And it does largely come down to marketing/brand in the end, as in the UK here, the majority of ads that I see on TV, posters on bus stops etc. is for the GS 3, iphone, GS 2, galaxy ACE & Ace 2 (the Ace mobiles are bundled with very good network deals though, the ads aren't actually for the phones themselves) along with a few for the one X and virtually no ads at all for the one S (still have not seen a single ad on TV for the one S), people automatically recognise the GS 3 and iphones where as with the likes of HTC phones people aren't sure about them and automatically think they aren't good since they never heard of them.
It is a shame because HTC did start the "empire" of android with the hero, desire and nexus one, dread to think where android would be now if it weren't for them.

The things I want:
- Good battery Life

okay if you get lucky you will get a great oneplusone. but like my people they have problems.
maybe some have the problem but don't mind
but on the french side of the oneplusforum, one guy made a poll and lets say that 6/20 people have touchscreen/hardware problems.
so or you gonna have a great phone or you gonna have to email etc oneplus to get e new full working phone.
and still the oneplus one is a great phone. but its hard to love. i wanted it. but now i don't, i don't want to take the chance to have a sh!t phone that makes me mad 'again!' it's a cool nice phone, but the quality control is not always the same. one phone works other one is sh!t, so if you have the money to buy a other phone do it.
if i don't try a other 300€/400 phone there alot out there. xiaomi, oppo, zte.
all new cpu s801 and full hd from 5" - 5.5" if one day oneplus will get there sh!t totether and make the phone 100% working. with maybe 1or 2 /20 that have problems would help

I don't have any problems. If I did, its fixed or workarounded. Some of the problems I encounter,
- Touch screen bugs: Fixed via kernel update. It is eliminated fully in the next OTA. Not a problem of Oneplus or cyanogen, its a fault of Synaptics, the company who does the touch screen.
- Yellow on the bottom.... I use screen filter to workaround it, although there has been reports that the newest revisions don't have this problem anymore and it is rarely visible.
... Overall the phone is great and is a great budget phone with the top of the line specs.

this is my concern also. it is why i am strongly considering getting the note 4. the 3 and 2 series have been exceptional.
However, the upgrade from 3 to 4 is negligible. Hence why im looking at the opo its these comments im reading here about its quality control which is making me hesitant. I hope we both enjoy our new phones but if you are debating then i would recommend you consider the note 4.

The thing is I has Touch Sensor issues with my LG G2, and spend a hell lot to change the whole display set. Now i want to get rid of it.
At this moment I am not sure if its worthy to spend $575 for HTC M8 or $450 for One Plus One 64GB. Those are the price at which these phone are sold in my country, so no arguments there.
I happen to use HTC M7 for 3 days which i borrowed from my friend and I loved its experience. But M7 has Camera Pink Tint issues and also USB connection port issues.
So you get that I am in a really confused situation. I dont want to spend so much money then worry about the reliability of the phone.
PS. Warranties are not available in my country other than Nokia and Samsung as other phones dont officially distribute in my country. And Samsung sold from the official dealers a really expensive. Like S5 costs around $700 with warranty

i aint spending 300+ € on a phone that's my thing more just would make it nan. that's much.
so at the end i always come back at the oneplus, or last week found the xiaomi mi3. other phone are not aviable for a good price in europe. and i don't want to pay extra for import tax ect. cause that will be like 50-80euro more for a phone that i bought for 300€ and i aint paying more than what i decided that i want to pay

If you're lucky you might get a great OnePlus One? Come on, that's bs. The truth is, if you're really unlucky you might get a bad one.
All these posts claiming that there are such high numbers of faulty devices are just wrong. You can run all the polls you like but it isn't going to give you an accurate figure at all. Not even close. All you're doing is measuring the percentage of the amount of devices from people who could be bothered taking a poll, or who stumbled upon the poll in a small forum.
I know a whole bunch of people who own this device, we're talking dozens, and only one of them has had any issues with it. The fact is that the small number of people who do have a problem are always the ones who shout the loudest. You don't see anybody creating threads and causing commotion when their device is behaving like it should, do you? No, you don't.
Just because there are some faulty devices out there in the world, and people are making a completely half-assed attempt at measuring the percentage of faulty devices (people with zero actual data gathering experience or knowledge), does not mean there's a real problem with the One. All the loud-mouths with their whining only create an illusion that there's a problem, and all the gullible people soak it up like a sponge.
@in_core, buy the phone, you won't regret it.

That's not a problem with oneplus. They're a start up company and for their first year, they're doing quite a good job. Sure it's not perfect with the invite system but that's due to their production.
The same could be said about the nexus devices, it's only cheap in selective markets. It's not just the oneplus one.
I'm not saying that removable battery and remove storage is not needed. Sure it's nice to have but let's take a step back.
Removable storage: you're given 64GB of internal storage. The other edition is 16GB which isn't really produced as oneplus is producing 64gb due to a popular demand. $299 vs $349. That's a difference of $50. Take a look at other companies and see how they would charge for a extra internal storage for 16 to 64. Oneplus could have cheap out and gave us 32gb for 349 and 64gb for $449. Anyways to get to the point, the phone has 64gb of internal storage, storage is not a problem what so ever. Would it be nice to have a sdcard? Sure but it's not a deal breaker.
Oneplus is already selling the phone cheap as it is, they're barely making a profit and you want them to put more features after they gave you 64gb? Come on now.
Removable battery: technically any phone has a removable battery if you just take it out. Oneplus had swapstyle covers that shows you that. The back of the phone isn't the easiest thing to take off but it's possible to do. From a design perspective, it'd be pretty difficult to have the sand stone black and back design that the oneplus already have to include a removable back that is easy.
The same idea of removable storage can be applied to the battery. Would it be nice to have? Yes. But if it doesn't have it, it's not a deal breaker as we're already given 64gb of internal storage and 3100 mah battery. Oneplus one has the best battery life on the phone market right now. At its given price point of $349 the oneplus one is a steal if you received a invite. Given some effort, you can get a invite within hours on various social networks / forums.

if you are on a budget I will say the OnePlus is the best bang for your buck. Honestly like others have mentioned you will only hear about the bad and not enough good stories but I will be honest with you. I am nowhere disappointed in my purchase of this phone and hopefully neither will your if you purchase it.
Alot of things are overrated in my opinion. No need to remove a battery if the one you havve last you all day. No need to have extra storage if you have a good data plan and use the cloud. I am coming from a 16gb N4 that I placed all my music in Google Music and my apps in dropbox, drive and other various cloud storage.
Dont fill your phone up with crap and believe me this phone with camera, storage and best battery in the game will make you a happy individual

I think it depends which of the phones you can get your hands on. After my Nexus 5 has been replaced 3 times under warranty I am starting to care more and more about that kind of support as well.

i know you are right. but it's that i have ben talking to a developer. and he didnt recomande me the phone. (guess he had a bad one) and asked him again 1month later how its going he sayed don' buy u aint gonna love it....
that the thing. i know he knows what he says but yeah, xiaomi mi3 is a bit boring. i mean 5" no lte. and only miui or a AOSP rom. noting more. cause no kernel sources yet...
and the oneplus is almost the same size as the xiaomi (xiaomi mi3 is as big as a xperia z1. just a bit smaller)
so yeah. the thing is. okay maybe i will get lucky but i dont like to know that maybe im gonna get a phone with touchscreen isues.. i hate that. thats going to make me smash the phone.... i already had problems with touchscreen and i almost trew the phone on the ground.
so if i get one i want to be sure i will have a touchscreeen that works. and doesn't make me mad!

Don't tell people not to buy the phone off the back of one guy's bad experience. If you do some research you'll find that touchscreen issues have been solved with a ts driver update (for those very few people that had problems).

My contract is coming up for renewal in late February and I'm thinking of replacing my phone with a new Android device. I realize this might be the wrong forum section to post in, but who better to ask than my fellow Shield lovers.
I had a Galaxy Note (original) and a Galaxy S2 prior, and they weren't bad. For the time Touchwiz, and a poor email client really put me off of Android as a phone primarily for me is a communication device, but I still like to have fun with it.
I ended up going back to Blackberry and have been rocking a Z10 for a long time. But won an iphone 5s through work and have been using that for about the past year. I bought a Z30 recently as it was being sold at a stupidly low price new in box from factory and I am sick and tired of the small screens and piss poor battery life of the iphone.
I also have a first gen Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, and I've been complaining about it for the past 6-10 months because of it's size and weight and now that apps are being optimized for newer OS versions it's getting really slow. So my wife bought me a Shield for Christmas and I absoltuley love it!
I love how the UI is on this tablet and now know what all the fuss is about for Andorid. Touchwiz ruins the experience in my opinion. So I'm thinking for my new phone I'm going to get a Lollipop device for sure...the question is which one?
I don't want a Nexus as I don't like the idea of non-expandable memory and my 64gb card in my Sheild is getting pretty full, no way I could survive with a device that isn't at least 64gb (my iphone is 64gb and is usually between 50-60gb loaded up with music and media.)
So which device has a UI that is as close to the Shield as possible with expandable memory and isn't the size of a house. 5" is about my max screen size. There is no need to go larger as I already have the Sheild, and I want it to be pocketable. I got rid of my Note because I just kept leaving it on my desk. I would also love to get a 16-20 hour day with heavy use. FWIW my iphone 5s is completley dead by the time 2:00pm rolls around when it comes off the charger at 5:30am. I'm usually not near a charger again until 6:30-7:00pm on average. It's going to be a lot to ask but a 5:30am to 10:00pm battery life would be fantastic...

If you want a stock OS look and MicroSD, get the HTC M8 Google Play Edition. Stock Android, front speakers, and MicroSD support just like the ST.

Not going to be a popular opinion around here but the iPhone 6 gets much much better battery life than the older ones, if you are already invested into iTunes that may be a valid option for you. For me I have the 6 plus and it is cool because I get awesome battery life and then I get completely different games then the ones that are available on my shield tab so I have pretty much the best of both worlds.
Also my reason for going to the iPhone is because I have ATT and needed a carrier subsidized phone, tried the Nexus 6 it is utter crap build quality and the Note 4 is not even rootable, there is not much else that is really modern on ATT.

As far as gaming ready devices, all Qualcomm Snapdragon devices fall into a mediocre range. None of them are really "smooth" at gaming and all of them work hard to provide perpetual fluidity. Bad video drivers and non-existent high clock efficiency mean those devices scale vey poorly, and gaming takes a monstrous drain on the battery for even simple 2D games. If you are looking for a device which can handle gaming in a manner similar to the shield (and aren't too concerned with what you might lose) then tegra phones and iPhones are your best option objectively. It's impossible to recommend a Qualcomm device as better for gaming. If you are just looking for a simple phone with light gaming, then something like the upcoming HTC M9 or a likewise lollipop based device would be fine. But if gaming is your concern (which you don't seem to mention) then my above statements hold very true.

All "stock" suggestions should definitely fly with "but shall include excessive Google bloatware that wouldn't be accepted from Samsung or any other OEM." That much said, crap like Drive Earth Docs Sheets Slides Newsstand Books Music Movies Plus Fit Now Wallet Keyboard Chrome and the ever constant location stalker CAN be disabled quite easily.
Preliminary reports say the S5 is shaping up to perform amazingly on Lollipop. A simple comparison of this tablet and the Nexus 7 and the iPad-Mini-esque Nexus 9, has shown me that it's all about the implementation of lollipop, not comparing who has the biggest version number, that is essential in determining which device is best.

Google Play Edition phones like HTC One M8 or Galaxy S4.
The Moto G and X phones also offer nearly stock OS.

Gaming is not a concern for me with a phone, thats what the Tablet is for. a Pretty stock non-bloated with manufacture crud OS is whats most important I think. Touchwiz was just annoying when I was test driving a Note 3 and on my S2 when I had it. Just didn't enjoy it. I also don't like how big the S5 and such has gotten.
I'll take a closer look at the Google Play edition phones. I wanted to get something direct from carrier to get the subsidy and save some cash... I'm on Rogers in Canada... No Moto X is avaialble, and it doesn't appear to have a micro SD. However the Sony Z3 seems to have a pretty stock version of Android... what are peoples opinions on that device?

Well I wouldn't say it's stock by any means. It's actually fairly heavy on skinning, but it does look nice. Updates will be very slow for Sony phones. But the battery life is fantastic, and the overall hardware is nice. Sony phones can be problematic, but since it's a carrier device you can always yell at Rogers.

Yea, I'm reading more on the Z3 forums and seeing stuff I'm not overly happy with.
One thing that is ever important to me is the speed and quality of the camera, something I'm addicted to on my iphone. I'm a part-time professional photographer along with my day job. So I got a camera for manual control and taking beautiful shot. I love my iphone for the quick burst that I can do within a couple of seconds on the fly (and thats about it that I've found as a pro over Android). I don't know if there is an Android phone out there that can compete, which is very unfortunate. When I was test driving the Note 3, one of the few major reasons I returned it was due to the crappy camera speed/AF. (The others were size and touchwiz)

Moto X, Moto G, Nexus 5, Nexus 6 or the Google Play Edition phones from the play store. Thats about it. I guess the OnePlus One fits the bill also.
I can't recommend the Moto X enough. Mine is absolutely amazing and I've owned QUITE a few different phones over the past few years including Samsung, HTC, Sony, Nexus, ZTE. The Motorola lineup of the past year or so has been nothing short of phenomenal.

I disagree on the basis that the battery life is pretty bad. Like iPhone levels of battery life frankly. I'm surprised people just glaze over that. 2300mah battery with lollipop+amoled is battery hell.

Do you own one? Because I do. And I routinely hit 18-19 hours with 2.5-3 hours of screen time. Everyone I see complaining about battery life doesn't own one, and are just parroting FUD.

I'd also have to agree. I was hesitant about the phone when it was first announced because of the battery and held off buying one until the Cyber Monday coupon deal. Since then, I've added a wireless charging module (thread in the accessories sub-forum for the phone) and I couldn't be happier. Not saying you need a wireless mod, I just missed that from the Nexus 5. But even so, the battery has been above and beyond what I expected, the phone's performance is top notch, Active Display or whatever its called has no second best and Motorola's adherence to near stock Android is the cherry on top.
Like icase said, unless you have one and have something to back up your comment, you're just blowing FUD. My go to devices today are my 2014 Moto X and my Nvidia Shield Tablet.

Hi, just my two cents, IMHO the Nvidia Shield is a great tablet but to play PC games you have to stream to Nvidia, so if I want to recommend to you a similar device, the closest phone you can get is the Sony Experia Z3, Android 5 Lollipop, battery levels are very good, beautiful design and you can connect it to a playstation and play the games wireless on your phone with the PS controller. You even get the sound from your controller by connecting the headphones to it.

I have a couple of ideas.
If you can wait, the HTC Hima promises to be a beast. A Snapdragon 810 with a 1080p screen means that it will probably crush every other phone in terms of performace, thanks to every other phone jumping on the pointless 4K train. Look it up. It looks pretty nice. *drool*
If you need something now, then....I know you want a smaller phone, but....I can't recommend the Oneplus One enough.
-It is actually thinner than and not as wide as the Note, dispite its slightly larger screen.
-Even though it has no expandable storage, 64 gigs of internal storage has actually proven more useful to me. I never have to worry about limited storage for application data.
-The battery life on this thing is nuts. I'm a heavy user and I only need to charge it every other day.
-1080p screen. This is a plus because it it uses less resources than a 4k display. And honestly, most, if not all people, cannot tell the difference.
-Snapdragon 801 with 3 gigs of RAM. This thing flies, and multitasks like a champ. I remember a time not too long ago when more than 2gb RAM was considered excessive for most DESKTOP computers. I think its more than the specs that make this thing fly, though. Something in the hardware implementation must be special, because people have been reporting some pretty unbelievable benchmarks. Oh, and Sonic Adventure 2 runs smoothly in Reicast.
-The XDA scene is HUGE for this device. Its the most popular device on the forums. There are, like, 73 billion ROMs for it and maybe 2.5 billion kernels. I've never owned such a popular device. This is my favorite feature.
Its also the one of the only devices I have right now that isn't defective in some way. I tend to have horrible luck when purchasing electronics.

I went into my Rogers store and manhandled what they had on display as well as a few open box units. I also took at look at Telus, but they can't meet me on my plan so no point in switching over. But the Moto X seemed like the best device.
I found the Z3 to be the best value for me right now. As I originally mentioned I'm not looking at the phone for gaming, but to be a workhorse and get me through a very heavy use work day. Not having Touch-Wiz was a huge plus for me, and I really enjoyed some of the things they changed in the skin. The camera performed a lot better than the other phones I tried in store. the HTC M8 was a very close contender, but the camera just sucks so horribly it got kicked out of the running faster than I could blink. I honestly think that Nokia/Windows Phone has the best camera interface after playing around with phones the past week, but the Z3 does a pretty good job.
For me it was the battery power, the UI, and the pretty impressive spec sheet that (hopefuly) will not force me to upgrade in the next 18 months that caused me to go with the Z3 overall. Rogers has a pretty limited offering right now which is annoying. I almost went with the Samsung S5, but remembered how much Touch-Wiz pozioned me the first time.
If they had a Nexus 5 32gb in stock I would have probably gone with that instead...and dealt with the size limitiation...but none left for corporate customers.
So my Black Z3 is in the mail and I'm really looking forward to it. Especially since my time frame for getting a new device really escallated with an unexpected smashy smashy of my iphone (dropped it and ran it over with a stroller by complete accident. One of the only times it wasn't cased!) now I need a case for my Z3

My Personal Complaints/Review of the Huawei Mate 20 X

MY PERSONAL COMPLAINTS & REVIEW OF THE HUAWEI MATE 20 X
This is my personal take of the huawei mate 20X which I provide as a cautionary note to potential buyers. This is an honest critique of a phone I owned for little over a month. For comparison sake I own the samsung a70 and used that to gauge the phone's overall value. Last month I bought it going in with the mindset that the big screen and its features would be cool as hell. I was wrong.
Online I purchased it for $590. My first impression when I unboxed it was I felt horrified. The phone is monster big. It made me a bit uneasy to think that the heavy weight coupled with its sheer size would make for a perfect shattered screen in time. As I handled it I was on edge that it would fall which made me feel somewhat insecure. But after a while I got used to the size and it fit my pockets although the top protrudes out a bit. After toying with it I felt I had to always be aware that it might fall so I used extra precaution while it was on my person, but it was no biggie.
BATTERY
The first thing that constantly bothered me about the phone was the battery which is 5000 mah. The first thing I made sure to do was to put this baby into airplane mode, turn off bt and location and just keep wifi on. Also, I made sure of turning off background activity in the settings on the grand majority of apps not to mention uninstalling unwanted apps.
You might at first glance think, "wow 5000 mah, amazing I'll buy it right away!" Hold your horses buddy. Just because a phone has a big battery doesnt necessarily mean it will perform like a big battery champ. An example of this is when I charged the phone to 100% one morning. I read email, went on youtube for 10 minutes, surfed the net and made one call that lasted 2 minutes. This whole session lasted 20 minutes. The battery drained to 87%, I kid you not! Another example is when I charged it to 100% one night. After 3 hours of idleness, not picking it up or doing anything to it, the battery read a disconcerting 96%. How in god's name is that possible on 5000 mah after I disabled many apps and killed many more running in the background?? By comparison my samsung a70 which has a 4500 mah battery beats the mate 20X big time in battery. After I put the a70 through the ringer with the above same session in the same amount of time the battery showed a pleasing 97%. A user on xda commented that his mate 20x's battery is slightly (keyword, slightly) better than his samsung s9 which has a 4100 mah battery. Now youre seeing the bigger picture.
UI
The UI is the 2nd worst thing about this phone. It looks like Ice Cream - heavily outdated and disappointing. Though it navigates fast through menus, the app drawer cant be accessed by swiping from the bottom as in most phones today with Pie which is installed on this phone out the box. Even though you have an option for that feature its clumsy and not pretty.
SCREEN RESOLUTION & COLOR
Another bone of contention is the screen resolution. It looks good. But when compared to modern phones like my a70 which is very sharp it falls short. Of course the screen is large which "thins out" pixel density making it less crisp. Thats understandable. But it disappoints when juxtaposing it with sharper phones.
Color is not well calibrated even though it's set to vivid by default. Red apparently dominates the other colors which makes the reds stand out too much. Perhaps a tweak in the settings would do the trick? But with a phone debuted at $1000 you would think huawei would have the experience by now to fix that. Completely inexcusable. The samsung a70's vivid color depth blows the mate 20x out of the water.
SOUND
The sound volume and quality are quite loud and amazing respectively. The best I've ever heard in any smartphone. Huawei did a good job in this dept. But there's no way to toggle dolby atmos off unfortunately. Battery charging is fast, no complaints. Stereo is a huge plus!
GAMES AND VIDEO
For some unknown twisted reason, given the above complaints, playing games on this phone lasted a long time in battery. Playing asphalt 9 for 15 minutes drained only 4 - 5%. Same thing with playing videos. An hour of youtube drained only 6%. Very good but strange given its battery drains in other areas.
OVERALL & MY ADVICE
My great question in all this is, why the hell arent people complaining about these issues?? Battery is not efficient, the UI looks ugly and feels way outdated, the colors are off, resolution isnt as sharp as on other phones and its a bit heavy. To be perfectly honest, with all these faults the phone is worth $460, not $650 which is the lowest price as a new item selling on amazon at the time of this writing. Without any of these issues the phone would be perfect.
For those considering buying this phone take great heed of the aforementioned before you fork over 7 tall bills for it that later on you might regret. Dont be easily fooled by rave reviews of owners of the phone on xda either. Many will exaggerate it because theyre blinded by its large size. Likewise, dont be easily fooled by tech reviews elsewhere like those found on zdnet. Some of them are actually written by paid reviewers who will intentionally gloss over a product, ignoring its faults to satisfy ad revenue.

I like your post. Although I am only a senior member too. I don't think that means I am anywhere near qualified to do anything more than pontificate and slander. Basically, all that means is that I have been lucky enough to experience help from other waaaay more knowledgeable people than myself.

I haven't owned a Samsung since the S8+ - I loved it, but the battery was nowhere near what they said it was for me. I wonder if it was because I have to use a VPN 80% of the time to access Google services. (in China - Lucky/unlucky me). How do I know that you are not some sort of Samsung plant? A70 can't be as awesome as this phone, can it?

ok - I have no idea why this is the way it is for you. I have NEVER experienced a battery experience like this in sooooo ****ing many phones. So many times that famous African American on youtube - you know who - would tell me that 'this' phone's battery life was the best. And so many times I'd get let down (never more so than the Huawei Nexus 6P. Damn I loved that phone, but damn that battery sucked). I have NEVER been more impressed by a smart phone. I get a day and a bit an dI am a HEAVY user. Not sure why your phone life is ****, but I wish I knew why.

I actually really like EMUI despite my bashing in numerous threads. I especially like the gestures. I am even unsure if I could go back to Nova ... but the fact I can't, ****s me off more than anything. The worst and second-worst and third-worst thing about this phone is the lack of accessibility to a launcher. Damn -that is frustrating and I want to elbow all the EVR dudes right in the GD nose for their insistence that the phone is awesome!

Of course the screen is large which "thins out" pixel density making it less crisp. Thats understandable. But it disappoints when juxtaposing it to sharper phones.

The sound volume and quality are quite loud and amazing respectively. The best I've ever come across in any smartphone. Huawei did a good job in this dept. But there's no way to toggle dolby atmos off unfortunately. Battery charging is fast, no complaints. Stereo is a huge plus!
You're probably right, but I couldn't give a toss about this as I mostly use Bluetooth ear. Speakers have been handy once ort twice, but essentially, I have never used the jack. Also I have no clue what the **** is Atmos - I am a philistine when it comes to musique.
GAMES AND VIDEO
For some unknown twisted reason, given the above complaints, playing games on this phone lasted a long time. Playing asphalt 9 for 15 minutes drained only 4 - 5%. Same thing with playing videos. An hour of youtube drained only 6%. Very good but strange given its battery drains in other areas.
Think you are right with this. I seem to be able to set my son up on math prodigy and t4each your monster how to read and it lasts a zillion times longer than when I use the old huawei 6P.

My great question in all this is, why the hell arent people complaining about these issues?? Battery is not efficient, the UI looks ugly and feels way outdated, resolution isnt as sharp as on other phones and its a bit heavy. To be perfectly honest, with all these faults the phone is worth $460, not $650 which is the lowest price as a new item on amazon at the time of this writing. Without any of these issues the phone would be perfect.
It is worth it, in my opinion if you live outside of China and can get the EVA version and you don't need heaps of mem or a dual sim. I need a dual sim, heaps of mem, and I live in China. Therefore it has completely sucked owning the most amazing phone EVER.
For those considering buying this phone take great heed of the aforementioned before you fork over 7 tall bills for it that later on you might regret. Dont be easily fooled by rave reviews of owners of the phone on xda. Many will exaggerate it because theyre blinded by its large size. Likewise, dont be easily fooled by tech reviews elsewhere like those found on zdnet. Some of them are actually written by paid reviewers who will intentionally gloss over a product, ignoring its faults to satisfy ad revenue.

That was me who mentioned about the battery drain being slightly better on the mate 20X , it was in relation to my s10+.
The S10+ screen is smaller at 6.4", screen on time battery drain would be greater with a larger panel regardless of battery capacity as we all know. It's all relative.
My ideal goal is 0.9 - 0.4% per hour idle drain or less. Which I get on the Mate 20X , similar to my s10+. The mate 20X larger battery provides greater in between charges when device is in idle and screen off and a slightly better SOT time with screen on than my S10+.
As we all know battery drain % has nothing to do with battery capacity. Drain is drain, regardless. I use GSAM and Accubattery Pro on all my devices to measure SOT and idle drain amongst other things. One other important point is that battery drain on same given device can be completely different to someone elses same device. There are many variables that come into play in regards to battery drain. Hence why there are users of s10+ devices that complain their battery drains faster whereby others post 10 hours plus screen on time. The S10 plus is a mere example, change the device name and it's the same scenario on other device forums on XDA.
As for YouTube reviews for phones in general, I've came to find out a while ago that most are fake. YouTube influencers are given the device for free for favourable reviews.

What would I or samsung gain from a phone made for the asian market if I were a secret samsung agent based in USA on an english-based website? The samsung a70 is the only phone at my disposal with which to compare the mate 20x.

So many times that famous African American on youtube - you know who - would tell me that 'this' phone's battery life was the best. And so many times I'd get let down (never more so than the Huawei Nexus 6P. Damn I loved that phone, but damn that battery sucked). Anyway, Now-a-days I can accidentally leave my camera or torch on and it DOES NOT MATTER.

Did you actually read or just scan through the battery paragraph? I specifically explained how I set up my phone. Battery life again compared to the a70 leaves much to be desired. Why it went from 100% to 96% in 3 hours with everything turned off is completely inexcusable. As for the black guy in youtube, we dont know how HE set up his phone. Keep in mind that the mate 20x mustve been his 1st 5000 mah battery phone which came out last year at the time of his review when very few phones within that same period had the same mah capacity. This is why you cant judge a phone without comparing it to other phones. I actually tested the phone with the a70 on several occasions, being careful to take notes of observed changes in battery. Just to let you know, two phones from different companies with the same battery capacity will ALWAYS perform differently in terms of battery. This is irrefutable fact.
I actually really like EMUI despite my bashing in numerous threads. I especially like the gestures. I am even unsure if I could go back to Nova ... but the fact I can't, ****s me off more than anything.

I cant qualify your response as to the UI since you prefer a 1971 chevy when we're driving 2018 ferraris. What I can comment on is that I think the L29 version can install launchers. But I'm not 100% sure on that so dont quote me for assurance.

Never said it wasnt a solid phone. Its just not a perfectly solid 10 out of 10. Its plagued with issues serious companies arent foolish enough to make which should have been ironed out before huawei released it. Premium should be premium especially at premium price, no excuses.
Chinese phone makers are not in the habit of being keen on quality control and are slow to correct mistakes. They think they can just slap together a phone with high end specs through cheap labor as their corp revenue goal, throw it in the consumer's face like a doggy treat and expect them to bite. Thats not how you make customers happy. You keep them satisfied through constant and consistent quality control which the chinese have historically lacked for a long time in their product cycles. But admittingly they are getting better at it; in that sense I give them credit where credit is due. But china is still no korea at least not yet. The mate 20x issues are to the mate 20x what chinese companies are to customers. If china would have made a strong effort to make phones amazing in all respects they could have single-handedly put a major dent in apple, lg and samsung by now.

Thats exactly what I surmised in my review. Battery capacity means nothing. It doesnt matter how big a battery is; its how efficiently the phone utilizes the voltage and how the software is able to tie in everything together, hardware and software wise.

Yes you are correct. It is very unfortunate that we still cant get unfiltered honest reviews despite the "free" internet environment.

Isn't it strange that we have experiences with the phone, and yet we are both ultimately unhappy with the outcome. I am frustrated, you are disappointed.

COMPLAINTS & REVIEW OF THE HUAWEI MATE 20 X
This is my personal take of the huawei mate 20X which I provide as a cautionary note to potential buyers. This is an honest critique of a phone I owned for little over a month. For comparison sake I own the samsung a70 and used that to gauge the phone's overall value. Last month I bought it going in with the mindset that the big screen and its features would be cool as hell. I was wrong.

I wonder if it was because I have to use a VPN 80% of the time to access Google services. (in China - Lucky/unlucky me). How do I know that you are not some sort of Samsung plant? Online I purchased it for $590. My first impression when I unboxed it was I felt horrified. The phone is monster big. It made me a bit uneasy to think that the heavy weight coupled with its sheer size would make for a perfect shattered screen in time. As I handled it I was on edge that it would fall which made me feel somewhat insecure. But after a while I got used to the size and it fit my pockets although the top protrudes out a bit. After toying with it I felt I had to always be aware that it might fall so I used extra precaution while it was on my person, but it was no biggie.

BATTERY
The first thing that constantly bothered me about the phone was the battery which is 5000 mah. The first thing I made sure to do was to put this baby into airplane mode, turn off bt and location and just keep wifi on. Also, I made sure of turning off background activity in the settings on the grand majority of apps not to mention uninstalling unwanted apps.

You might at first glance think, "wow 5000 mah, amazing I'll buy it right away!" Hold your horses buddy. Just because a phone has a big battery doesnt necessarily mean it will perform like a big battery. An example of this is when I charged the phone to 100% one morning. I read email, went on youtube for 10 minutes, surfed the net and made one call that lasted 2 minutes. This whole session lasted 20 minutes. The battery drained to 87%, I kid you not! Another example is when I charged it to 100% one night. After 3 hours of idleness, not picking it up or doing anything to it, the battery read a disconcerting 96%. How in god's name is that possible on 5000 mah after I disabled many apps and killed many more running in the background?? My samsung a70 which has a 4500 mah battery beats the mate 20X big time in battery. After I put the a70 through the ringer with the above same session in the same amount of time the battery showed 97%. A user on xda commented that his mate 20x's battery is slightly (keyword, slightly) better than his samsung s9 which has a 4100 mah battery. Now youre seeing the bigger picture.
I have NEVER been more impressed by a smart phone. I get a day and a bit an dI am a HEAVY user. Not sure why your phone life is ****, but I wish I knew why.
UI
The UI is the 2nd worst thing about this phone. It looks heavily outdated like Ice Cream or Kit Kat. Very disappointing. Though it navigates fast through menus, the app drawer cant be accessed by swiping from the bottom. Even though you have an option for that feature its

I'm both frustrated and disappointed. Honestly I wanted to make the mate 20x my main driver that I planned to replace my a70. But huawei decided for me to keep my a70.
The honor 8x max is a good big screened phone. But problems with installed google services like the playstore keep me from considering buying it.
Looks like I'll stick to my a70 until I see a better contender with a bigger screen, hopefully one with no issues that would otherwise prompt me to open a thread to complain about.
Wouldnt say we're the 'odd couple' since we're both not as frustrated with each other as with that one thing bothering us, the mate 20x. We're more like Frasier and Niles.

Max version hasn't got any USA T-Mobile LTE bands.
The none Max version has some T-Mobile LTE bands though.

Very sad to hear that. Another example of huawei disappointing potential consumers. The fact that this will hurt them in revenue makes me happy. If they dont take this as a lesson I dont know what will.

You mustve picked up a defective phone. I didnt have any issues with bt. Hate saying this but try a factory reset.

My bluetooth works brilliantly. Did the factory reset work?
