[Kernel][KG2][Port]Baliv1.2 for KG2 Update Voodoo Lagfix + Sound [8/6/11] - T-Mobile Sidekick 4G

I came to understand that Dr. Honk's original version of Bali was not working on the new update to the SK4G, so I took a break from my Lockscreen project and ported our kernel up to the new update. This is the same Bali kernel, but for KG2, rather than the old KD1.
THIS WILL ONLY WORK ON KG2, NOT KD1
For features and details on the tweaks included in Bali, visit Dr. Honk's thread.

Dr. Honk for the original Bali kernel - This is just a port of Dr. Honk's earlier Bali kernel, posted Here
This is a flashable zip, so just place it on your sdcard and reboot into clockwork, and flash the zip.
Download V1.2 here: http://www.multiupload.com/RD1VBE3GV9
Changes in V1.1: Edited default.prop to enable root user in ADB, checked for init.d
Changes in V1.2: Found my failure, readded link to voodoo scripts in init.rc, and readded init.d support.
This has been tested by myself and ayoteddy, if there are issues, let me know and I'll work on getting it fixed for you whenever I get a chance.

Thanks a bunch for making this work. I'm still running the stock ROM and this has made it a lot nicer to use. Even Firefox loads quickly now.

i flashed this on my stock kg2, said the install was successful. looked at About Phone, Kernel version is 2.6.32.9....is that correct?

Sduvick did not change the kernel name when he was compiling it , it's Bali-V2.2 though .

You don't need to check mounts for a kernel install, that won't make a difference.
What do you mean it didn't work? what symptoms?

Best rom coming from stock.

Hi guys... I have a samsung infuse 4g.. Im running on the stock rom with no root.. But im using the community vooodoo kernel.. So im wondering, whats the best rom to flash to by just flashing from the voodoo red recovery without problems? I have no root so i dont wana go thru the trouble to root... So i just wana flash using the voodoo kernel menu. Tjanks guys
im very fond of infused 1.5.3. there should be no issues using red cwm to flash. the loopy smoothness mod and voodoo make a really good combo and the phone fells very good. i also like h8rifts rom for the theme, he also includes the infusion oc/uv kernel. the loopy smoothness mod and camera mod can be added to this rom afterwards if h8rift hasn't added them.
infused includes tw launcher. the roms from h8rift and nopcodex90 use the gingerbread launcher for a more aosp look.
Last time i flashed infuse using the voodoo recovery... I got stuck on the samsung screen and when voodoo tried to convert to ext4 it said system not found..

hmm. did you already have voodoo installed when you did this? i wonder if it is wiping the voodoo logs and the kernel is assuming that voodoo is not enabled? maybe disable voodoo and reboot allowing the conversion back to rfs first then flash would be better.
this is the first i have seen his reported but i know there were problems with permissions on the first voodoo test kernels. i have flashed with voodoo enabled from kernel to kernel and rom to rom a few times but maybe not your particular combination.
I have flashed from stock with voodoo kernel and voodoo enabled to infused. Follow the "already on a custom rom" instructions in my post. Those instructions will work for whichever ROM you choose.
I flashed your rom from stock when i had voodoo disabled.. But ill try it enabled..

[Odin][ROM] Whitehawkx's KC1 with CWM recovery

I've made an Odin flashable KC1 ROM with CWM already built in. It even boots up to CWM right after flashing to speed up your recovery! Now you can flash your favorite ROM and restore your nandroid backup and be ready to go!
FEATURES
Stock deodexed KC1 ROM (Whitehawkx)
* Root
* Busybox
* Quickboot
Bali 3.3 UV
* Voodoo lagfix enabled by default
* CWM recovery
NOTES
1) CWM will try to enable the Voodoo lagfix since it's the default option, so the first boot might take longer than you want it to if you wind up booting into the phone at all.
2) I noticed a glitch in the boot startup animation. It flashed back and forth between the T-Mobile pink bootup animation and the default Android boot animation.
3) This WILL delete all your data, so make a backup to your SD card, then back up your SD card to your PC.
INSTRUCTIONS
1) Download the file to your Windows PC
2) Extract the 7-Zip file using a compatible program, such as 7-Zip
3) Load up the file in Odin
4) Flash
5) Success!

Excellent rom !!! Thank you so much for creating this easy to use rooted and dedoxed rom :O) It has become the base rom I Odin whenever I want to test new rom on my phone. It also allow me to push hebrew to the phone (Only after installing another rom on top of that like Redux 1.3.X), And It deals automatically with some EXT4 mixed partitions I created from other roms which got messy prior to this rom. You have done a GREAT service to our community by creating this rom. Job AMAZINGLY DONE !

[KERNEL][EL30][Updated 2012-01-27] Stock EL30 kernel with minimal changes

I've gotten my EL30 kernel tree up and figured I'd share. The initramfs is my EI22 initramfs from my CleanGB kernel, plus the updated modules from the stock EI30 kernel's initramfs. I made some tweaks to the initramfs so that it will (confirmed) properly root a stock system during boot. The only modification to the kernel tree is LOOSE_VERMAGIC module and the CleanGB bml config, which just has the custom version string in it, so it's pretty much just a stock + root kernel.
The LOOSE_VERMAGIC and and main build script are from Rodderik's EI22 tree.
The MTD build scripts (this kernel doesn't have MTD support ATM!) are based on nubecoder's.
UPDATE (2012-01-27):
I missed an important patch required for the back LED to work properly. Flashlight apps and the camera will not work properly without it. I've updated the kernel and created a separate branch just for it. I also removed some tweaks from init.rc and added the stock el30 initramfs for reference. The updated kernel and link to the new branch is below.

Before you go making videos featuring my kernel, you guys should verify that it actually roots a stock EL30 phone.
As I alluded to in the OP, I had a little trouble with the kernel not installing Superuser properly. At first, the kernel only installed busybox and su, but failed to install superuser.apk. I fixed the superuser.apk part, but by that time su was already installed so I enver had the kernel do the whole process at once.
I'm 99.99% sure it will work fine, but it would be nice for someone to test out. I don't have time to flash back to stock to try right now.
I am running it right now and all is good! Thanks!!!

Yeah I just flashed back to stock EL30 and installed the kernel and it rooted me just fine, so it's safe to use this kernel.
Right now I uploading a stock ei30 heimdal package. After that, I'll put together an ODIN tar and after that an update.zip.
I also going to make another stock + root kernel that doesn't have any modifications to it except for root. It's kind of tacky to post a generic root kernel with a version string tatooed with "CleanGB".

[Q] Install stock FP1 kernel?

I've had my share of issues with all of the PBJ FP1 kernels and just want to install the stock. I've converted my system from EXT back to RFS. I'm currently on PBJ 0504, but can't flash back. I tried flashing the stock kernel "FP1_Stock_kernel.tar.md5" in Odin, but it hangs on the boot animation. I've tried flashing "FP1HKernelStock.zip" in CWR and it hangs at the boot animation. Is there a stock EPD4 I can flash? I haven't been able too find one. Also, when I flash a lower kernel, the new FP1 doesn't display in the updates section in Settings.
Can someone help me out here?
Thanks!

Yes I've tried that, it doesn't work.
Try running fix permissions in CWM. I've heard that as a fix. You can also reflash your rom (without wiping) as well.
Reflash the ROM that you're on and the boot animation issue will go away.

I flashed the stock FP1H kernel, then reflashed Tweaked 2.0 all in CWR. Hmm, that just gets me stuck on the Samsung logo.
Go into recovery and mount everything.

Well I was able to get my phone back by reflashing the ROM. I still can't get to the stock FP1. I read the best way was to have the auto update from EP4D to FP1. Where can I get the stock EP4D so I can try this? Can I still do it using Tweaked 2.0, a ROM that was compiled on FP1 ?

Ah OK, that makes sense. No flashing back to EP4D for me.
So I went and flashed the Stock FP1 in CWR, but I don't think it stuck, I think it's still PBJ. In Settings under "Kernel version" it says 2.6.35.7-FP1, but I still have voodoo sound available. I wouldn't think the stock kernel would support voodoo enhancement.

The stock kernel supports Voodoo Sound (bass boost non-functional) if you are using the paid version of Voodoo Sound and load the kernel module.
The surefire way to tell is to open terminal emulator and run the command 'uname -a'. If the timestamp is in May, you're on PBJ.
Most likely, you didn't mount /system prior to flashing the kernel.

I actually do have the paid version of VS, so I guess that would explain it. i checked the date in terminal and it says "Sat Feb 25". So it looks like I have stock FP1. Thanks for the help!

It pays to read. Lets hope the one click I have in my sig will fix you up.
Bali kernel is for Froyo (2.2) & you say you are on GB (2.3.6). So flashing it will cause a bootloop due to unexpected bootloaders. I suggest you either flash AntonX's basic with a twist or Bhundven's Blast kernel. Both of them are made for GB and have advanced CWM version where backup & restore work.
