Hi guys... I have a samsung infuse 4g.. Im running on the stock rom with no root.. But im using the community vooodoo kernel.. So im wondering, whats the best rom to flash to by just flashing from the voodoo red recovery without problems? I have no root so i dont wana go thru the trouble to root... So i just wana flash using the voodoo kernel menu. Tjanks guys
im very fond of infused 1.5.3. there should be no issues using red cwm to flash. the loopy smoothness mod and voodoo make a really good combo and the phone fells very good. i also like h8rifts rom for the theme, he also includes the infusion oc/uv kernel. the loopy smoothness mod and camera mod can be added to this rom afterwards if h8rift hasn't added them.
infused includes tw launcher. the roms from h8rift and nopcodex90 use the gingerbread launcher for a more aosp look.
Last time i flashed infuse using the voodoo recovery... I got stuck on the samsung screen and when voodoo tried to convert to ext4 it said system not found..

hmm. did you already have voodoo installed when you did this? i wonder if it is wiping the voodoo logs and the kernel is assuming that voodoo is not enabled? maybe disable voodoo and reboot allowing the conversion back to rfs first then flash would be better.
this is the first i have seen his reported but i know there were problems with permissions on the first voodoo test kernels. i have flashed with voodoo enabled from kernel to kernel and rom to rom a few times but maybe not your particular combination.
I have flashed from stock with voodoo kernel and voodoo enabled to infused. Follow the "already on a custom rom" instructions in my post. Those instructions will work for whichever ROM you choose.
I flashed your rom from stock when i had voodoo disabled.. But ill try it enabled..

Hey guys, I have a Mesmerize and I don't know a whole lot about how the complicated stuff that is done frequently on XDA works.
However, I really wanted Froyo for my Mesmerize so I could use flash. When the EA11 Froyo kernel leaked, I flashed it. I was able to do so because the instructions were very simple, I just downloaded Odin, ran the adb program and entered a command that put the phone in download mode, and then flashed. It all just worked.
Since I don't know about the more complicated stuff, I didn't go with any pick and pack or modified ROM with different recovery and such, just the stock EA11 ROM with stock recovery. It all worked great and was very easy.
Then EB16 leaked and I did the same procedure, just using the totally stock ROM. Then did the same with EC10. I also have Titanium backup and had to use it for EA11 because that ROM wiped all the installed apps, unlike the next two.
Currently, I am on EC10 with stock recovery and I am rooted with SuperOneClick.
I really want to flash the EC10 voodoo kernel for the speed and sound improvements and save battery life because it is undervolted. Is this the latest EC10 voodoo kernel? If so, can it be flashed with Odin? If so, how? Will it wipe out any of my apps or settings? Do I need to worry about recovery or cwm (what do those even mean)?
I always see people mention the voodoo lagfix as well. If I understand correctly, that is built into the kernel right?
I know I have a lot of questions, many thanks to whoever wants to help me out

You won't be able to flash any custom kernel's or ROM's via ODIN, these are all packaged in flash-able .zip files that are installed through Clockworkmod Recovery (CWM) it is a bios like interface that loads prior to booting of the OS which allows you access to the system files, and also allows flashing (installing) of custom rom's. Basically you'd just need to go back and odin the EC10 rom with CWM recovery located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=997359. Once you have flashed that in ODIN, you will be able to boot into the red clockwork recovery using the three button method or using the Quick Boot application from the market. From there, you can "install .zip from sd card" to flash the voodoo kernel of your choice (the one you linked is correct, download and place on the root of your SD card.) And no, flashing a kernel typically does not require any sort of wipe, nor does it affect your current applications/data when flashed. Lagfix is built in but must be enabled through the voodoo option within CWM.
and FYI - this needs to be posted in the general forum as that is reserved for Q & A, the development forum is for releases only. Hopefully a MOD will move this for you.
I came to understand that Dr. Honk's original version of Bali was not working on the new update to the SK4G, so I took a break from my Lockscreen project and ported our kernel up to the new update. This is the same Bali kernel, but for KG2, rather than the old KD1.
THIS WILL ONLY WORK ON KG2, NOT KD1
For features and details on the tweaks included in Bali, visit Dr. Honk's thread.
Credits:
Supercurio for all his work on the Voodoo project
Dr. Honk for the original Bali kernel - This is just a port of Dr. Honk's earlier Bali kernel, posted Here
This is a flashable zip, so just place it on your sdcard and reboot into clockwork, and flash the zip.
Download V1.2 here: http://www.multiupload.com/RD1VBE3GV9
Changes in V1.1: Edited default.prop to enable root user in ADB, checked for init.d
Changes in V1.2: Found my failure, readded link to voodoo scripts in init.rc, and readded init.d support.
This has been tested by myself and ayoteddy, if there are issues, let me know and I'll work on getting it fixed for you whenever I get a chance.
Licensing/use for other roms/ports/stuff: http://sam.zoy.org/wtfpl/
So this has voodoo

Yes, this is the same kernel as Bali by Dr. Honk, just ported to KG2.
I don't know why you keep me out of these project's

I just flashed this zip and now the phone is stuck at the Samsung boot screen with one long vibrate and two short. I think I may have to Odin to get out of this state.

Thanks a bunch for making this work. I'm still running the stock ROM and this has made it a lot nicer to use. Even Firefox loads quickly now.
i flashed this on my stock kg2, said the install was successful. looked at About Phone, Kernel version is 2.6.32.9....is that correct?
Sduvick did not change the kernel name when he was compiling it , it's Bali-V2.2 though .

this didnt work for both times i tried
system mounted
or system unmounted
i didnt work .. please help cause nothing wont install on my phone. d
You don't need to check mounts for a kernel install, that won't make a difference.
What do you mean it didn't work? what symptoms?

Then there's a problem with your cwm
Does this have init.d support?
I flashed the debloated 2.3.4 EP1W leak yesterday and all was going good. Today I flashed imoseyon's (voodoo) kernel at h ttp://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php?3953-KERNEL-GB-imoseyon-kernel-(stock-repacked-v2.4.0voodoo-10-2-11) because it supports voodoo (I was on RFS before this). I did a nandroid backup right before I flashed through CWM. After rebooting, I am stuck on the SAMSUNG screen. I am thinking that this might be the system converting to EXT4, but I did not hear any female voice.
If the issue does not fix itself in 30 minutes, I will reboot. How should I get out of this problem?
I'm not sure, but you might be able to Odin something like Humblecomb 4.0, which will give you root, Vooodoo kernel (Imoseyon Kernel 2.06, I believe), Recovery, and EXT4 (conversion on reboot from Odin). From there you may be able to CWM to the EP1W debloated.
Gummycharged and Humble Gingerbread ROMs are both great ROMs and should work perfectly with that kernel you want.
The time that I bootlooped was easily amended by reverting to one of the stock ROMs via Odin.
I just flashed imoseyon's non-voodoo kernel (which I luckily downloaded to my SD on accident) and it booted up. Does anyone know of any other voodoo kernels for EP1W?

Link? There is none on the web page
OK I flashed imosayon's 2.3.4 instead of the latest 2.4.0 (it was the only other download link available) and it booted with voodoo on. Holy crap this is fast getting like 2200s on quadrant.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

I would really like to know if this is possible. having issues and thinking of going back to stock. can anyone tell me how to specifically install voodoo on stock kj2 firmware?
I found a post in the dev section that has a flashable kernel with voodoo. possible to flash that kernel to stock rooted firmware?
I went back to stock, rooted, installed clockworkmod, flashed the bali kernel, and now i have voodoo and it is awesome! had i known all about voodoo and known i could have it just by flashing a kernel, I never would have flashed a custom rom.
I've had my share of issues with all of the PBJ FP1 kernels and just want to install the stock. I've converted my system from EXT back to RFS. I'm currently on PBJ 0504, but can't flash back. I tried flashing the stock kernel "FP1_Stock_kernel.tar.md5" in Odin, but it hangs on the boot animation. I've tried flashing "FP1HKernelStock.zip" in CWR and it hangs at the boot animation. Is there a stock EPD4 I can flash? I haven't been able too find one. Also, when I flash a lower kernel, the new FP1 doesn't display in the updates section in Settings.
Can someone help me out here?
Thanks!

When it hang, did you try to pull the battery then put it back and reboot the second time?
Yes I've tried that, it doesn't work.
Try running fix permissions in CWM. I've heard that as a fix. You can also reflash your rom (without wiping) as well.
Reflash the ROM that you're on and the boot animation issue will go away.

I flashed the stock FP1H kernel, then reflashed Tweaked 2.0 all in CWR. Hmm, that just gets me stuck on the Samsung logo.
Go into recovery and mount everything.
Data / systems / extra.
Then go to advanced and run fix permission ...

Well I was able to get my phone back by reflashing the ROM. I still can't get to the stock FP1. I read the best way was to have the auto update from EP4D to FP1. Where can I get the stock EP4D so I can try this? Can I still do it using Tweaked 2.0, a ROM that was compiled on FP1 ?

Thanks, but I need that without the ROM. I don't want to reflash the stock EP4D ROM too. Just the kernel and/or modem. Does that exist?
U cant keep an fp1 rom and flash ep4d. U have to go back to ep4 kernel and rom, then get the fp1 update, then flash tweaked

Ah OK, that makes sense. No flashing back to EP4D for me.
So I went and flashed the Stock FP1 in CWR, but I don't think it stuck, I think it's still PBJ. In Settings under "Kernel version" it says 2.6.35.7-FP1, but I still have voodoo sound available. I wouldn't think the stock kernel would support voodoo enhancement.

The stock kernel supports Voodoo Sound (bass boost non-functional) if you are using the paid version of Voodoo Sound and load the kernel module.
The surefire way to tell is to open terminal emulator and run the command 'uname -a'. If the timestamp is in May, you're on PBJ.
Most likely, you didn't mount /system prior to flashing the kernel.

I actually do have the paid version of VS, so I guess that would explain it. i checked the date in terminal and it says "Sat Feb 25". So it looks like I have stock FP1. Thanks for the help!
