I've had my share of issues with all of the PBJ FP1 kernels and just want to install the stock. I've converted my system from EXT back to RFS. I'm currently on PBJ 0504, but can't flash back. I tried flashing the stock kernel "FP1_Stock_kernel.tar.md5" in Odin, but it hangs on the boot animation. I've tried flashing "FP1HKernelStock.zip" in CWR and it hangs at the boot animation. Is there a stock EPD4 I can flash? I haven't been able too find one. Also, when I flash a lower kernel, the new FP1 doesn't display in the updates section in Settings.
Can someone help me out here?
Thanks!

When it hang, did you try to pull the battery then put it back and reboot the second time?
Yes I've tried that, it doesn't work.
Try running fix permissions in CWM. I've heard that as a fix. You can also reflash your rom (without wiping) as well.
Reflash the ROM that you're on and the boot animation issue will go away.

I flashed the stock FP1H kernel, then reflashed Tweaked 2.0 all in CWR. Hmm, that just gets me stuck on the Samsung logo.
Go into recovery and mount everything.
Data / systems / extra.
Then go to advanced and run fix permission ...

Well I was able to get my phone back by reflashing the ROM. I still can't get to the stock FP1. I read the best way was to have the auto update from EP4D to FP1. Where can I get the stock EP4D so I can try this? Can I still do it using Tweaked 2.0, a ROM that was compiled on FP1 ?

Thanks, but I need that without the ROM. I don't want to reflash the stock EP4D ROM too. Just the kernel and/or modem. Does that exist?

Ah OK, that makes sense. No flashing back to EP4D for me.
So I went and flashed the Stock FP1 in CWR, but I don't think it stuck, I think it's still PBJ. In Settings under "Kernel version" it says 2.6.35.7-FP1, but I still have voodoo sound available. I wouldn't think the stock kernel would support voodoo enhancement.

The stock kernel supports Voodoo Sound (bass boost non-functional) if you are using the paid version of Voodoo Sound and load the kernel module.
The surefire way to tell is to open terminal emulator and run the command 'uname -a'. If the timestamp is in May, you're on PBJ.
Most likely, you didn't mount /system prior to flashing the kernel.

I actually do have the paid version of VS, so I guess that would explain it. i checked the date in terminal and it says "Sat Feb 25". So it looks like I have stock FP1. Thanks for the help!

I came to understand that Dr. Honk's original version of Bali was not working on the new update to the SK4G, so I took a break from my Lockscreen project and ported our kernel up to the new update. This is the same Bali kernel, but for KG2, rather than the old KD1.
THIS WILL ONLY WORK ON KG2, NOT KD1
For features and details on the tweaks included in Bali, visit Dr. Honk's thread.

Changes in V1.1: Edited default.prop to enable root user in ADB, checked for init.d
Changes in V1.2: Found my failure, readded link to voodoo scripts in init.rc, and readded init.d support.
This has been tested by myself and ayoteddy, if there are issues, let me know and I'll work on getting it fixed for you whenever I get a chance.

Sduvick did not change the kernel name when he was compiling it , it's Bali-V2.2 though .

I flashed the debloated 2.3.4 EP1W leak yesterday and all was going good. Today I flashed imoseyon's (voodoo) kernel at h ttp://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php?3953-KERNEL-GB-imoseyon-kernel-(stock-repacked-v2.4.0voodoo-10-2-11) because it supports voodoo (I was on RFS before this). I did a nandroid backup right before I flashed through CWM. After rebooting, I am stuck on the SAMSUNG screen. I am thinking that this might be the system converting to EXT4, but I did not hear any female voice.
If the issue does not fix itself in 30 minutes, I will reboot. How should I get out of this problem?
I'm not sure, but you might be able to Odin something like Humblecomb 4.0, which will give you root, Vooodoo kernel (Imoseyon Kernel 2.06, I believe), Recovery, and EXT4 (conversion on reboot from Odin). From there you may be able to CWM to the EP1W debloated.
Gummycharged and Humble Gingerbread ROMs are both great ROMs and should work perfectly with that kernel you want.
The time that I bootlooped was easily amended by reverting to one of the stock ROMs via Odin.
I just flashed imoseyon's non-voodoo kernel (which I luckily downloaded to my SD on accident) and it booted up. Does anyone know of any other voodoo kernels for EP1W?

If you flash a full stock Odin, it will replace everything, kernel included. If you follow the instructions in the Fix Your Phone thread, it will even repartition everything clean as well, though that's probably not necessary unless you're having boot issues.

I want to keep all in one place to make them more convenience to everyone. because it's hard to trace back where they are!
SOMETHING EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT FP1 (information collected from reading many posts, credit goes to OP):
*** Stock EP4D (Factory rom/kernel/radio) flash with ODIN:
http://www.imnuts.org/odin-packages/ - ODIN
look for this " EP4 (Android 2.3) CI510_VZW_EP4_ALL_ONE-LTE-CP_REV03_user_CL706183_ship.tar.md5 "
1. Issue with FP1 rom using custom kernel - If you are on FP1 and using custom kernel like PBJ, Tweakstock, Imoseyon 4.0, your wifi will not work. Currently there is no solution, some suggested methods, but didn't work. We just have to wait for a new/mod custom Kernel to support the Fp1 wifi. If wifi is critical to you and you want to stay on Fp1, you have no choice but use FP1 stock kernel.
2. Custom rom upgrade to FP1 deodexed/debloated/rooted rom (NO FP1 kernel) - If you are on custom rom with CWM installed and want upgrade to Nitro's deodexed/debloated/root or deodexed/bloated/root, "Easiest thing to do is take Nitro's stock deodexed/rooted/debloated or bloated rom and place it on your sdcard. Then use clockworkmod to flash this rom. Nitro has removed the script that overwrites the stock recovery in this rom so you do not need to worry about it coming back.
3. Custom rom upgrade to factory FP1 with root and cwm (with FP1 kernel) - If you are on Tweakstock/Eclipse and would like to move to FP1, first you have to ODIN back to stock EP4D, then download the Factory FP1 package (http://www.mediafire.com/?zxnfxmmcoky81sz), rename the this package to update.zip, place it on your SD card, then use STOCK recovery to flash this update.zip. Reboot phone then shut it back down then Odin cwm (0302 blue latest version- http://imnuts.net/zU2jkn) with "reboot" option unchecked, after completed, pull the battery, reinstall battery, hold down volume up+home+power to boot into cwm, flash Super user package zip (Superuser-3.0.7-efgh-signed.zip - http://www.mediafire.com/?dowo6gy34oclutq ). Reboot phone. Use root explore go to /system/ect/install-recovery.sh script, tab on mount R/W button (upper top). long press on the script and in the popup menu, select permission, unchecked all permission. Shutdown phone, re-Odin cwm again, once done reboot, now cwm should stick. If some how you lost root permission, download superuser fix from the market and run it.(no reboot required).
4. Cutom rom upgrade to FP1 radio only (NO FP1 kernel) - If you are on Tweakstock/Eclipse and just want to update the new FP1 radio, simply just download (http://bit.ly/GE6IVa) and flash it using cwm. Make sure mount /system before flashing (wipe cache/davik cache are recommended). The key here you must already on EP4D radio for this patch to work. You can update your modem to EP4D (EP4 modem can be found here -( http://bit.ly/uZljNM ) . Unzip and Odin this EP4D modem file before you flash FP1 radio with cwm.You can be on custom rom or kernel while flashing this. It should work fine.
5. How to root a pure stock FP1 and make CWM stick after reboot - Turn off your phone, use ODIN to flash CWM (0302 blue latest version - http://imnuts.net/zU2jkn) with "reboot" option unchecked,
After completed, disconnect the usb cable, pull the battery, reinstall battery, hold down volume up+home+power to boot into cwm,
(if you failed to boot into cwm and your phone boot up you have to redo the process). Now flash Super user package zip (Superuser-3.0.7-efgh-signed.zip - and su-bin-3.0.3.2-efghi-signed.zip (both can be download from here (look for Gingerbread) : http://androidsu.com/superuser/
Reboot phone. Use Root explore (or Root browser lite or ES file explorer) go to /system/ect/install-recovery.sh script, tab on mount R/W button (upper top). Long press on the script and in the popup menu, select permission, unchecked all permission then save the file.
Shutdown phone, re-Odin cwm again, once done reboot, now cwm should stick. Once phone came up, to verify root on your phone, you can download "root checker basic" from the Market. If you have issue, download "superuser update fixer" app from the market and run it.(no reboot required). That's it.
*** There is a quicker way to root, is just flash cwm, without reboot phone, boot straight into cwm then flash rom from item C (bloated/rooted) or D (debloated/rooted).. Once rooted, just remove permission from file "install-recovery.sh" with root explorer or something similar, turn off phone, then Odin cwm again. Reboot and you're done.
6. Stop OTA notification fix - by RWnube
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/21207-stop-ota-notification/page__p__571859#entry571859
Basically, just change the word EP4 to FP1 in this line (in the build.prop file):
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/SCH-I510/SCH-I510:2.3.6/GINGERBREAD/EP4:user/release-keys
change to:
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/SCH-I510/SCH-I510:2.3.6/GINGERBREAD/FP1:user/release-keys
7. Upgrade from rooted pure stock EP4D to FP1 - Most of ppl mistaken that they have a pure factory rooted EP4D, when they tried the OTA update they ended up with boot loop. OTA upgrade will work with pure factory stock rom with root, meaning factory rooted stock EP4D kernel, stock EP4D rom and stock EP4D radio. After the upgrade you will lose root, just follow the instruction #5 to get root and cwm back. If you don't have what I listed above, you should follow instruction #3 to first get back to stock EP4D then upgrade to FP1, (the following FP1 rom already have root build in - Item C,D,E).
8. ***A better way to upgrade since the release of stock FP1 kernel by shrike1978 (http://www.mediafire.com/?ns38atiw1d7er5x - Odin version) and Dwitherell (http://goo.gl/pGgxT - cwm version) - If you have custom EP4 rom with custom kernel or stock rooted EP4 rom, you can:
1. Flash item C,D,E or FP1 Eclipse 2.0 (your choice, pick one that you like).
2. Flash FP1 kernel with either Odin or cwm
3. Flash FP1 radio (you must have EP4D radio already installed in order to flash this radio).

If you want FP1 kernel you have to odin back to stock ep4d then use factory recovery to flash FP1. This included FP1 kernel and radio. Currently this is the ONLY way to update to FP1 kernel. All other packages (bloated/debloated/deodexed), they don't have the FP1 kernel. If you follow step 3, you will have FP1 kernel, radio, cwm and rooted.

I don't have cracks and pops with my radio, so can't speak for that. However, I found that the FP1 kernel is bit smoother and faster compared to old stock, and wifi increased 1 bar on my phone (this varies depend on your router manufacture), 4g + wifi locking super fast when turn on. I would think the new radio is better for sure. I would recommend to install the new radio at least then running anything else you want on top of that. Currently I'm checking the battery life with this FP1 rom. Will post update.

Anecdotally, and with an egregiously small sample size, I seem to be getting (very) slightly better signal at my workplace, which has notoriously bad signal in the building. I'm looking at -98 to -95 dBm now, versus -100 dBm or worse before, however the difference could be small enough to be statistically irrelevant.
This is on 3G, as I work in a non-4G area.
Thanks for the credit but I didnt make that radio flashing patch.

Yes, you have a wrong kernel for Nitro Eclipse. Instruction #2 said if you have a custom rom and want to update to Nitro's Eclipse. But since you flashed stock FP1, you now have FP1 kernel and this won't work with Eclispe.
Thanks for the info. I guess I am just stuck with the horrid color scheme until someone updates a custom ROM to FP1/kernel with a better theme.
I was also wondering if some of the devs might be able to get rid of the Verizon customer service app. I don't trust them (Verizon) and I am sure it also involves a ton more logging, i.e. tethering logging, etc.

It is in the boot.img. So far all Infuse cm9 is based of jt or entropy branching off jt. If you want just the kernel, after you f flash the ROM, you can dump the kernel from bml 7 using dd commamd.
Jt recover ics is such a kernel. Check my thread for the heimdall packed.
Jscott also extracted entropies kernel and i packed into a heimdall 1 click also. I haven't had a chance to test it yet. Pm me if you want a shot at it.
I think having these kernel in a heimdall makes flashing and recovery from cm9 simple.
Dl mode. Flash. factory reset. And it's ready for cm9 ROM.

I've used your heimdal package of the ics kernel multiple times as I constantly brick my phone trying to port and have to go back to stock...I then flash the ics kernel and I'm back up and running ready for ics...I just wish I could only flash the kernel...always gotta go back to stock first...but with your heimdal I'm back up and running in no time

As for the kernel...as far as I know it isn't a full on ics kernel...it is a gingerbread kernel that has been heavily modified to run ics however it will not work with gingerbread any longer...
So its an ics kernel created from a gingerbread kernel...insane development going on there...got tons of respect for jt and entropy getting that done...

I don't think you need to go back to stock with system files that you will overwrite anyway.
Flash just the kernel. Wipe.
And flash the ics.
Maybe use entropy kernel flash then a jt kernel if you can't recover with only jt.

What do you mean by an entropy kernel flash then a jt? I've tried just flashing the jt one you have and no matter what rom I flash...when I hit that reboot button it will always boot back to recovery...
Anyways im back up and running in under 10 minutes...so its nothing to complain about...

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same thing but:
Let say you tried a port or build and got into a boot loop. Or lost recovery, you don't necessarily have to flash the whole stock package.
In my kernel root thread, post #3. Flash the Jt kernel in download mode. That should bring you n back to recovery from boot loop or lost recovery with the three finger combo.
I've noted that since Jt kernel has the cwm 5.xxx sometimes it doesn't do the trick. If that was the case, I would flash the entropy in download mode..post #2..in the uclb3 thread.
That will also give you cwm recovery without having to flash the whole stock base.
Boot into recovery, wipe and/or mount and you are set to flash the next experimental build. Just be sure to have a couple of different builds to test on your sdcard.
Once you flash what ever build or ROM, it had it's own kernel and system file to write over your current. In this case, it would not matter, as you are not working with a system file...only the recovery.
Edit: it would also make sense of you created a mg_lite ROM for debug if you needed to have the phone system. Make a ROM with minimal stuff. Turn off boot ani. Have only minimal apps..no email or gmail or bt fb or any crap that would allow down the boot and dalvik process. Only a few system files and libs are needed. That way you can save some time instead of going back to the whole stock process
