Push Notifications - Intermittent - HTC Sensation

I'm experiencing an annoying problem. Every so often I'll launch an app such as Gmail or Whatsapp, and suddenly receive multiple queued messages even though sync service is on and they should have pushed in the background. This has happened occasionally since I bought the phone but I have noticed it more lately. It seems like this phone has very unreliable packet performance. Anyone else notice the same?

I am having this issue on TmoUSA with google plus and my Gmail.

I guess we'll have to live with this until we can flash a cleaner ROM...

Clear data in your gmail app. It will sync normally again.

Once had similar trouble with my exchange account. Deleted the account and reinstalled it. Worked perfect after that.
The deleting data from the app is probably a better idea though...

Auto Sync wont stop syncing.. any help

Ok so I have notice that the sync icon keeps popping up and I have went into the settings and disable the sync for gmail but kept the contacts and same with FB just have contacts but every like 3-5 mins it pops up again has anyone had this issue and know how to fix this? I am rooted not roms just root.
I don't remember seeing it that often but it didn't stop until I turned off auto sync and background data on my completely stock Inspire.

Well so far everything seems ok after I took off g calendar but still not sure but what does disabling the data and auto sync data do anyways

Turning them off keeps you in control of syncing your accounts. If an app needs background data, it will tell you. When you want to update go into accounts and sync under settings and click sync all.

I see.. was not 100% sure lol and I also noticed that the mock location was un checked if I remembered it was checked so I checked and its almost 24 hrs can I have not seen it starting to auto sync.

GPS continually starting multiple times

Like title says. Today my GPS began randomly starting every few minutes. I have not installed any new apps or made any other changes, so I can't figure out what is causing this.
Any suggestions?

What rom, any kernel changed, dropped the phone?
Sorry, its totally stock other than a handle full of apps. No drops, and has been in an Otterbox Defender from day 1.

Depending on what you are doing on the phone, and your location settings, it is normal for gps to start automatically. Ie doing a Google search when you have GPS enabled and have allowed Google to access your location as they say "to provide better search results"
Or it could be your wife logging into your htcsense account and using the locate phone feature to find you
LOL. Sitting here with the wife and watching GPS activating. Also, have location access disabled on Google.
This is really strange. I've had the phone a while now, and this is new behavior. It happens even after I have force closed all the apps that might happen to use GPS.

For anyone interested by monitoring the GPS events while watching running apps, I was able to find the culprit. It was the AT&T Mark The Spot App causing GPS to keep activating. Even after doing an FC of the app, within minutes it would start itself again and then GPS would start firing up again. Uninstalled the AT&T app: problem solved. I had the app for a good while, and this was a fairly recent bug.

Android "email" app - connection problems to Gmail

This problem seems to have been around for 2 years now, but I haven't found any resolution online.
Using the "email" app on my Motorola Photon (the one with a @ inside an envelope)...I constantly get a "connection error". This is configured for gmail.
Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't. It seems to be a problem regardless of whether I'm on wifi or 3G. I have Sprint, if that matters.
I don't know what's going on. The email app is configured to use iMap push.
Should I set it for pop email server instead, and just tell it to poll the server every hour?
Thanks.

I''ve had a similar issue with my boyfriend's phone. All I did was uninstall all the updates for the app, reset the phone, and then redownload the updates for the app. Seems to keep it working at least for a while.

Google Music FC

I've tried all the versions released and I still can't stream. This only happens when I'm connected to WiFi. I can stream over "4G" just fine.
I'm running Ginger Beast.
I have cleared cache, data, uninstalled, rebooted, etc over and over.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Does anyone have a solution?

How many devices are registered on your music account? Happened to me once when I could not stream... had 8 devices registered to my account.
8 is the limit.
2 devices - my Inspire and a Thrive tablet.
I also had AdFree blocking ads, but I reverted the host files.
Also, I can stream from the same account on my tablet without an issue. It's the phone. Can't figure this out.

Nothing is syncing

For the last 3 days my Gmail account is not being updated on my Nexus 5 i.e. I am not getting any new mail. In addition to it my Google cards are not being displayed and neither can I connect to play store. It says no connection whereas I am connected to Internet. So basically all my Google account services are offline. How can I get them back?

It's a long shot, but make sure date and time are correct, I had that issue a while back and fixing the date and time fixed it
Date and time are good

I tried removing the account from settings but now I am unable to add it back. It says"can't establish a reliable connection with the server. It may be a temporary problem or your device may not be provisioned for data service "
Please somebody suggest what can I do as now all my contacts are also gone

BUMP!
Just came here to hopefully find an answer, I had to change my gmail password on PC but after I signed out on my N5 I cannot log back in, it keeps saying:
"Can't establish a reliable connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your Android device may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call Customer Care."
N5 all stock, no root, browsing works fine, everything is fine just that I cannot add a Google account now.
