Nothing is syncing - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For the last 3 days my Gmail account is not being updated on my Nexus 5 i.e. I am not getting any new mail. In addition to it my Google cards are not being displayed and neither can I connect to play store. It says no connection whereas I am connected to Internet. So basically all my Google account services are offline. How can I get them back?

It's a long shot, but make sure date and time are correct, I had that issue a while back and fixing the date and time fixed it

Date and time are good

I tried removing the account from settings but now I am unable to add it back. It says"can't establish a reliable connection with the server. It may be a temporary problem or your device may not be provisioned for data service "
Please somebody suggest what can I do as now all my contacts are also gone

BUMP!
Just came here to hopefully find an answer, I had to change my gmail password on PC but after I signed out on my N5 I cannot log back in, it keeps saying:
"Can't establish a reliable connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your Android device may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call Customer Care."
N5 all stock, no root, browsing works fine, everything is fine just that I cannot add a Google account now.

Accessing Market via Wifi

Guys,
Why I cannot access Market via wifi connection. Browsing, Email or Gtalk works fine but when i accessing Market or Blakpmarket there's return error with "Network Error Occurs" ?
I can only access those via Network Operator.
Any explanation regarding this problem? Is it a bugs with CM 5.0.6 that i've updated last night?

market verifies yiu via google talk over the network. so if you dont have cell service it wont authenticate you which means no entry...

How long did this issue take place? Did you bother turning wifi off and back on? I'm not calling you stupid, but a lot of people get the problem once hit retry, doesn't work, and flock here for help when help isn't even needed. I get this now and again. No idea why, but it never sticks.

Push Notifications - Intermittent

I'm experiencing an annoying problem. Every so often I'll launch an app such as Gmail or Whatsapp, and suddenly receive multiple queued messages even though sync service is on and they should have pushed in the background. This has happened occasionally since I bought the phone but I have noticed it more lately. It seems like this phone has very unreliable packet performance. Anyone else notice the same?
I am having this issue on TmoUSA with google plus and my Gmail.
I guess we'll have to live with this until we can flash a cleaner ROM...
Clear data in your gmail app. It will sync normally again.

Once had similar trouble with my exchange account. Deleted the account and reinstalled it. Worked perfect after that.
The deleting data from the app is probably a better idea though...

GPS continually starting multiple times

Like title says. Today my GPS began randomly starting every few minutes. I have not installed any new apps or made any other changes, so I can't figure out what is causing this.
Any suggestions?

What rom, any kernel changed, dropped the phone?
Sorry, its totally stock other than a handle full of apps. No drops, and has been in an Otterbox Defender from day 1.

Depending on what you are doing on the phone, and your location settings, it is normal for gps to start automatically. Ie doing a Google search when you have GPS enabled and have allowed Google to access your location as they say "to provide better search results"
Or it could be your wife logging into your htcsense account and using the locate phone feature to find you
LOL. Sitting here with the wife and watching GPS activating. Also, have location access disabled on Google.
This is really strange. I've had the phone a while now, and this is new behavior. It happens even after I have force closed all the apps that might happen to use GPS.

For anyone interested by monitoring the GPS events while watching running apps, I was able to find the culprit. It was the AT&T Mark The Spot App causing GPS to keep activating. Even after doing an FC of the app, within minutes it would start itself again and then GPS would start firing up again. Uninstalled the AT&T app: problem solved. I had the app for a good while, and this was a fairly recent bug.

[Q] Google location services

Just got my nexus 5 yesterday, been tinkering with it ever since
But one thing I just could not get to work, and that's Google now.
When I go to turn it on, it says it requires location services which are not available, when I go to location settings to turn the Google location reporting (location is on, tried on all modes, high accuracy etc.), location reporting and history is disabled and grayed out.
Could this have something to do with me having a family email domain, which is the email I use on this device (some Google services thing on the admin settings or something) because I've tried googling this a lot to no avail.
I've put here as much information as I can so you can help me, and I'm attaching screen caps as well.
Cheers

Is there a way to force the GPS on from Google Device Manager remotely?

Hey all, unfortunately I lost my OPO last night. I was able to get to the Google Device Manager on my PC and lock it with a message, but I didn't have my GPS on so I can't locate it. I didn't see the option, so I guess this is a last attempt at having hope, but is there a way to force it on?
I dont see any to do it if gps wasnt on , maybe if you had a local hotspot in your wifi list but youd have to know that address , i dont know if it can be down from there either
