Ok so I have notice that the sync icon keeps popping up and I have went into the settings and disable the sync for gmail but kept the contacts and same with FB just have contacts but every like 3-5 mins it pops up again has anyone had this issue and know how to fix this? I am rooted not roms just root.
I don't remember seeing it that often but it didn't stop until I turned off auto sync and background data on my completely stock Inspire.

Well so far everything seems ok after I took off g calendar but still not sure but what does disabling the data and auto sync data do anyways

Turning them off keeps you in control of syncing your accounts. If an app needs background data, it will tell you. When you want to update go into accounts and sync under settings and click sync all.

I see.. was not 100% sure lol and I also noticed that the mock location was un checked if I remembered it was checked so I checked and its almost 24 hrs can I have not seen it starting to auto sync.

The sync bar has been on more than off in my status bar and I cannot figure out why. I've tried clearing the data from gmail, yet still nothing.
My iPhone and iPad both alert me to new mail, I check the Sensation and it just has that stupid sync logo in the status bar.
Any ideas how to get the google sync to be more reliable. I'm generally on WiFi or sitting at my desk at work with 3-4 bars 4G.
that means its syncing with something, not necessarily google. could be htc sync, facebook, twitter, weather, qik video chat, google maps/latitude, etc

go to the gmail apps settings and make sure you have the notification on, then go to accounts/sync and make sure that gmail box is checked to sync
It's likely caused by the HTC Sense sync client. It takes a long time to sync as it makes a backup of your Sense configuration settings.
I personally disabled it as I started noticing that I've used a lot of data the first week that I bought this phone.
i have noticed the same and i think i will do what carlo said and disable it too.. to see if that works... i will just sync manually before i go to bed or every other day

I also found put that it syncs your contacts and texts. I wish there was a way to disable that. Oh well, started using Cerberus instead to track my phone.

Try clearing the cache and data from the applications>All>Gmail settings screen. Then open up gmail again and it'll re-sync. That should work.

Thanks I tried it and it seems to work but when Im on my tablet It seems to only get pushed just to the tablet not the phone as well. Is that normal?
Do you have the "Mobile data always-on" checked?

Lol yea. Unless it goes into power saving mode
Go into settings > Accounts and Sync > select the account that is not syncing > Then make sure that the Sync Gmail checkbox is checked.
It is it does sync but it doesn't sync as in pushed notifications I can have an email and I won't know unless its refreshed
Bump.
Having the same problem. Gmail push isn't working reliably. Sometimes it works, but mostly not. I've verified all settings for syncing. If I go into a Gmail account and select Refresh it downloads the new emails, but auto notification is just flaky as heck, and mostly not working.
I'm running pure stock, not rooted. Anyone else seeing this, or have suggestions for fixing?
Thanks.

This is what messed up my sync a while back:
Settings > Power > Enable power efficiency
If it's on it will turn off auto sync based on what when idle. That fixed my gmail issues, dunno if it's the same for you.

I did have that setting turned on, so will leave it off and see if that's the issue.
Thanks.
Try reinstalling gmail through the market.
I have just recieved my Sensation yesterday and it is an awsome phone. So far I have tried the stock rom and a couple of custom roms.
One issue I have noticed is on the home screen it looses the weather frequently. It keeps my location with out any problems but I have to keep going to the weather widget and update again. This seems to happen randomly. The phone was in standby for 2 hours came back and it had gone again.
I use option use wireles networks to get location over wifi / data. Any ideas?
Any idea why this is happening? It is very odd.
Thats really strange...I'd be curious to know a solution. What are your current settings for HTC accounts/sync? I have found that there are two settings for the weather sync - one via the widget the other in the accounts/sync. What is your update schedule for weather? Also, might be that your location is changing to pick up different wifi signals but if you dont connect just refreshes your location and not the actual weather?
You know that could be it. I have sync set to manual so maybe that is it. I am stting in the house but my signal can change rapidly. So I might change everything to automatic and see what happens. So far I have:
Account and sync
Background data on
Auto sync off
Weather sync to update when opened.
I am wondering if I change auto sync to on should it pull through when it needs to rather than relying on the schedule? At the minute I only have a 500mb data plan that I cant change until April so I am keeping an eye on my data. I will then be changing to giffgaff which is truly unlimited so wont have to worry about that!
Does anyone else is having problems with auto sync? If I turn auto sync on the damn thing seems to run all the time even if there us no internet connection. Yesterday when I went to sleep I had 58% battery and just to test my theory I enabled auto sync,my network connections are set to be disabled from 11pm to 5:40am. After 6 hours of sleep my phone had onl 8% battery left. That is f**** unbelivable. Is there any service that I can remove from phone to stop this. I am using rooted sens rom with most of bloatware and sens stuff removed. Pleas advise me what can I do,beside thr obivous thing that is disabling auto sync.

When syncing the phone will turn the connection (wifi/3g) back on. Therefore turning wifi off will hardly help at all.
I would recommend using some app to control the phone connection. Personally i use Juicedefender.
When rooted, JuiceDefender can use advanced features.
Like putting your phone in flightmode from midnight till morning or disabling autosync after workhours (i use the cheapes paid version -JD plus-. I have no idea about other JD versions or other apps).
I am using CleverConectivity but it doesn't seem to affect the auto sync:/. Another thing when I have auto sync on the icon in statusbar is always present, this is very strange.

Try 2X Battery. Works for me.
I might found the root of my problems with auto sync. I will report it later, when some time passes. But for now it seems to run fine. I just had to disable Facbook Sync Live Feeds.
Now I can say that disabling Facebook Sync Live feeds has sloved my battery problems, and I can use Auto sync without too much battery drain. :good:
Anyone else having problems with the G3 syncing up to things? Mine will start syncing, but it won't finish.
While its syncing, I won't be able to do anything with data at all until I toggle airplane mode on and off. As soon as I turn off airplane mode, I get all my notifications. I have seen this happening the most with Gmail sync, google wallet sync (turned this off), twitter (turned this off), and haxsync (deleted this after it took forever and would refuse to finish syncing).
NOTE: This happens to me on both ART and Dalvic runtimes.... Not sure what the issue is here.
EDIT: Happens on wifi, LTE, and HSPA for me.
EDIT2: I am on stock/not rooted.
I've been having issues with my Google account, but I think it's Google and not my G3.

Inside of Gmail app, you have to enable the sync last 30 days in your primary box or which ever box.
You click on the three dots on the upper right hand corner and go to label settings and enable sync for last 30 days.
Hope that helps.
Thanks for that! I just switched it to 15 days. Maybe that will help...
