That was the first thing I´ve tried, it only writes a lot of ñ!
Maybe it works on the onscreen kb, but I bought the kb dock for use it
On the dock you have to type the ~ then the N key

nope, still not working, it first wrires the ~an then the naked "n" (~n)
Works here. It even highlights the "~", like it's waiting for me to push the "n" to make it "ñ".
You sure you've selected the Asus keyboard as active input method? Dock keyboard can still be used (with limited functionality) even when a different keyboard is selected.
Does the dock has an alt key? Can you try alt + 164
alt (hold) 164 (release)

So yeah, I spend the whole day searching for a better phonepad keyboard. But everything that pops out is for qwerty. Texting is a major communication tool in our country and yeah, english is not the norm so I can't use Swype even though I'm dying too use it. So a better phonepad keyboard is the solution.
I wanna change it since the Optimus 1 keyboard is too cramped for me, I'm looking for one with bigger keys.
Thanks in advance!!
What exactly are you looking for? A number pad style keyboard? Blackberry style keyboard (2 letters per key)? Or just a better QWERTY?
I'm not sure but I think the HTC_IME keyboard allows various styles to choose from (all of the above 3 I mentioned). There is also Swype which eliminates the need for large keys (because you don't press the keys, you use motion gestures).
Me, I personally love the stock Android keyboard. It seems pretty good at knowing what I'm pounding out.
A number pad keyboard. The ones that you see from older phones
Search for the IME mod keyboard. It's got a phone keypad style keyboard.

WOW!!!!!! It works! Thank you so much~!!! This is exactly what I'm looking for! You can even edit the smileys! Perfect! Thanks!
Oh no. Wait, I had a bit of a problem.
I don't know what is the setting called but I'm pretty sure it's present in tis app.
When I use the phonepad keyboard, for example I press "2" so the 1st letter that will come out is "A" I noticed that the time that "A" is highlighted is quite long compared to the native android keyboard, thus slowing my typing down. It does not only affect the phonepad keyboard but also the compact qwerty. How do I edit this setting? Thanks!!
Please I really need help!
Sorry, you cannot edit that setting.
Try instead Better keyboard. It also has a keypad-like one.
Hello! Colemak typist here.
Can you change the layout of the keyboard? I don't mind about the physical layout, just the software mapping. I have no idea how he keyboard is handled so could someone kindly work out if this is possible? And if Colemak is available?
Thanks!
Nobody with a keyboard who can quickly check this out for me?
If you don't get a reply shout me tonight and ill give it a go.
hmmmm. cant see anything that allows keyboard remapping in the settings.... which is a shame as my @ and " are not as per the layout ... which is odd .....
Could always try button remapper beta off the market. I don't know if it will work on the dock keyboard but I could remap some of the keys using a usb keyboard on my viewsonic g tab. Something to try at least.

One way to do it is go to this website to get a general idea about remapping. Then download the KeyTest.apk from the author.
When you start the app you can see which scancodes are created. Now go to /system/usr/keylayout (most likely requires root) and change the keyboard layout that is associated with your keyboard. If you don't know, download aLogCat from the market. When you connect a keyboard it will show up in the log. For special characters and shortcuts modify the appropriate keychar table in /system/usr/keychars.
Hope that helps. It worked on my XOOM for a generic BT keyboard that had lots of Apple keys.
Wonderful. Thankyou all for your helpful posts! Very glad to know there is a way to do this, even if it is not an official option.
Thanks again.

You need to change the software keyboard to the ASUS one in order to get correct layout on dock keyboard.
As a follow up post - I got a transformer with dock. Downgraded to 8.2.3.9, rooted and found the keyboard layout in /usr/xt9/keylayout/qwerty-en_GB.kl. I edited by hand (thankfully it's a lovely human readable text file) and now am enjoying colemak! Woot!
I might write a little how-to so that anyone can do it quickly and easily.
Hello everyone,
I want to buy a TF + dock, but first I need to know some things.
I live in Greece and I need the Greek keyboard. I know that there is not an official honeycomb Greek IME, but Asus has a Greek keyboard.
Can I use the dock with input other than Asus IME?? In Greek there are accents like ή, ά,έ, etc. In windows PC, if you press the button next to L, and then press the letter η, it becomes ή. But when I played with a TF in a shop, the dock keyboard could not input accents.
Also, after a lot of search in my HTC Desire's market, I only found SlideIT keyboard that has a dedicated soft button for accent input, neither GB keyboard nor HTC IME has it (one of the few things that make me jealous of iPhone's greek IME), instead, you have to press η for some time and then swype to ή that pops up.
Is there any solution in this problem?? I really need a hard button to input accents, in order to use it in Document editing and Presentations.
Thank you in advance,
Thanos
Not sure about the greek characters on the keyboard dock being an option, but I've seen keyboard character stickers - you can just place the sticker on the correct key.

Thanx for the help, but it is not the characters that i need on the keyboard, but the actual ability of the keyboard to use accents over the letters.
This is what I mean: in greek, if you press ' before a letter like α,η,ε,ι, and then press the letters, they appear like this: ά,ή,έ,ί. It is greek grammar. I want to know if somehow i can do that with the keayboard dock.
I know that some keyboard apps from market like SlideIT keyboard have a soft button for that, but I havent found it on keyboard dock, hence why I am asking if it is possible,or if I can use the keyboard dock in combination with a keyboard app from market.
Best regards,
Thanos

Ah I see, in that case Android 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2 support greek locales. Source: http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-3.0.html , http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-3.1.html ,

So I don't see why the keyboard dock wouldn't default to whatever language you have set in Language & input in settings.
Edit: I just tested this with my keyboard dock, and I can confirm that it works with whatever language you have selected in Language & Input in Settings.
It does work with greek locale, but the problem is with accents..
Anyway, thanx for your help, I already contacted asus greek support over the phone, the guy didnt know the answer and he told me to send an email for them to search it thoroughly and they will reply soon,i hope!

Accented Greek characters appear just fine on my eee pad with android 3.1 by pressing ; key and then the relevant letter. So probably the version you tested in the store had android 3.0 which if I remember correctly didn't even had Greek input support.

Hey mate,
Are you from GR??
The tablet I tested had 3.1, yet there were no accents..The truth is though that there must have been something wrong with the tablet as well, because when I chose between EN-GR on the soft keyboard, sometimes Chinese input appeared. I showed this to the salesman and he told me that they would make a factory reset. Tomorrow I will go by the shop to see if the problem is fixed and check again the keyboard dock accent input.

Thanos

Hey guys, about two weeks ago I downgraded from Jellybean back down to ICS because of a problem I was having with JB I just got the OTA notification again, so I was hoping someone who is using JB and has the keyboard dock could test something for me.
I use the Asus Greek Keyboard IME a lot because I'm taking a lot of classes with Greek The problem I was having with JB was after the update I could no longer use the keyboard to input accent marks over vowels For instance: ά έ ώ. To do this once you've activated the Greek keyboard IME you just have to press the semi-colon key, followed by the vowel. Could someone with the latest firmware test this for me and tell me if it works now or not? What it was doing before was putting that little apostrophe looking accent in front of the letter, instead of over it when the letter was typed.
Thanks!

I tried with both Asus Greek and Android Greek keyboards, they ARE NOT working with Greek. I'm running latest .18 JB.
Thanks buhohitr, I guess I'll hold off on updating then. A related question, if I do hold up, is there a way to dismiss the update notification but have it come back the -next- time the firmware is updated?
I send the question to Gary, wolfman87. Thanks, hopefully he can provide some insight or bring it up with people who might be able to do something.
Hello again. Could someone who is up to date with their Asus firmware test this for me again please? Need to know if the accent marks are working correctly in Greek.

Yes, it's working, I typed a and hit the semi key I have a'. But you need to check it out yourself to verify for real.

Ack, maybe it isn't working then. Was that accent mark over the a or just beside it?

That's a shame. Thanks for checking for me. If you wouldn't mind, could you check one more thing? I've just read that JB finally added Greek to the stock keyboard. You've been testing with the ASUS keyboard for me, right? Could you check the stock keyboard as well, as a final resort? I appreciate it!

Hey guys, quick question and I hope it will be easy to answer:
Asus messed up the keyboard layout on the Jelly Bean update (it was fine in ICS) and its practically impossible to type in greek using the dock. Has this been fixed in CROMI? Is it even a known issue? Apart from a couple of unanswered posts there seems to be no information on this.
I 'm kinda desperate over here, any help will be appreciated.
thnx

Don't know if this helps you but I had a similar problem when going from English Canada to French Canada. I've had it for 2 weeks now and it wouldn't type French accents over the vowel. They would be before or after. Today I started looking at the settings to figure this out and notice a choice "choose system language". I ticked that box. I also chose French Canada and English Canada in the lower "asus" keyboard and android keyboard. Now if I want to type in French I change the system language and the keyboard automatically switches to the French keyboard and types the accents properly over the next letter. Type the accent and the cursor changes to a blue box and the next letter types in the box under the accent.
