My Sensation will only connect to my BMW as a headset meaning that I cannot use the car's internal system to show/select phone contacts, etc. By contrast my Vibrant works perfectly.
Does anyone know what causes this problem and can it be fixed?
I have a May 2009 BMW 330d Touring and I get the full Sensation address book downloaded into my car, no problems. I can then choose a contact from the car's system list and make it dial out on the Sensation handset. Also, when a call comes in from a contact stored in the list, the caller's name comes up on the car's display.
Maybe your car is older or has an older Bluetooth firmware, ask your dealer and they may be able to help. Otherwise, there are plenty of BMW user forums on the web and they often know a lot more about the car than your dealership!

I have an 07 530i and a 09 X5. They both will not load the contacts. I previously had a G2 and Mytouch4g rooted CM7 and they both load the contacts. The HTC Sensation does not use the vanilla Bluetooth stack from android. HTC left out a few instructions in the stacks and also they customized a contacts to link other info, thus doesn't really upload the contacts to the car. If anyone knows a work around, I'd love to know...other than rooting. Fingers crossed, unlock bootloader is coming in Aug from HTC or if the awesome dev guys here can do it before then that's even better!

My Nexus One running CM7 works fine with my 2006 BMW 325i, I am able to see my contacts, make phone calls...
With my HTC Sensation, I see no phonebook on my BMW; however, I am able to make and receive phone calls through bluetooth.
Seems to agree with your theory that HTC made tweaks to the bluetooth contacts, which is why Sense ROMS have problems, yet AOSP roms do not.
Has there been any progress in getting the Sensation to sync contacts on the BMW?
For what i know, bmw bluetooth connectivety only works full with bmw phones, I mean full function. There is a list on the internet, with the specify models and kind of phones they will support (full support)

I have exactly the same problem on my 2007 335i. Bluetooth works as a headset only on all Sense ROMs (stock, Leedroid, Android Revolution HD) but works perfectly with full contacts sync on AOSP ROMs (which is what has me currently using CM7.)
It does seem to be a Sense issue -- and I've tried Sense 3.0 and 3.5, on Android 2.3.5 and 4.0.3, with no success on any of them. Even a Sense ROM with the Bricked or Faux kernels doesn't work, while an AOSP ROM with the same kernels does. I don't know what Sense does to Bluetooth, but I do wish it would stop it.

Ok.... Firstly if i have this wrong I apologise in advance... I have read the Q&A's going back a good time and searched the forums for HTC touch2 threads but cant find this subject anywhere... I hope i havent just missed or misunderstood the jargon !!
I have just been issued a HTC touch2 phone and i am having compatability problems setting it up to use via bluetooth with my VW UHV PREM in car system. I have read tons of forum pieces on similar problems with HTC Phones but dont fully understand the solution and the touch2 isn't specifically mentioned... VW say the phone should be rSAP complatible... what is rSAP and how do i make this thing work... I have enabled SAP and the car has found and paired the phone but refuses to connect at all ... HEEELLLPPPP ...
you need a combination of ROM and kernel that support that. gingerbread had some roms and kernels which were able to connect via rsap to you vw uhv.
but to be honest, i dont know much about htc roms or kernels, which means you need to try for yourself.
this app is afaik the only solution for recent ICS versions and runs as form of an addon to your rom / kernel. just search for bluetooth sim access profile in the market
note, that this app will not guarantee you a succesful rsap connection, but with my sgs2 it is recently the only solution to get it working somehow.+
for an explanation about rsap i suggest google
in short terms it provides the sim to another device (like your radio), which includes the possibility to call, read sms, use contacts directly through your car.
which leaves your phone in kind of airplane mode.
combinations of android build + kernel for bluetooth SIM access profile
Hello
Can anyone provide a list of suitable combinations of android build + kernel for bluetooth SIM access profile (e. g. rSAP)?
I have Slim ROM with android 4.3.1, there it does not work.
Thanks.
I've seen a couple of these posts for other phones, but I am having trouble getting the phonebook to work with bluetooth devices, specifically my car. I had a mytouch 3g that worked, but was rooted, and an iphone3g that works. This phone has been fantastic but I am wondering if there is a work around for this? It seems some sense users have also had this issue. I can use the genius button in the car but the phonebook would still be nice.
I flashed my HTC Hero with the Elelinux rom, which is based on the CyanogenMod. One of the reasons for me to root and flash a new rom was to get a Bluetooth keyboard to work with my phone. Sadly, I dont get my bluetooth HID keyboard to work, even trough Cyanogen supposedly supports Bluetooth HID. I tried the app Blueimput in order to help things, but this doesn't seem to work either.
I really would like to have this on my HTC Hero, so therefore my question is:
Does anyone know a rom, radio, app or a combination of the latter to make my bluetooth keyboard interact successfully with my HTC Hero?
just wondering if its possible to change the code on device to allow pairing with non palm handets?
Wondering the same. I tried Bluetooth to no avail.
+1 been trying to get some of the more talented guys on this because I would love this on my evo
Same here, my crappy TomTom can do it so why not tpad?

Yes it can.
I have a se X10a rooted android 2.3.3 and I got it to connect. I may not have gotten the full features since I missed the pariing code and my phone must have sent a 0000 pair which was accepted.
Anyway, my phone says that there are two options, Connect and Phone audio. Incoming calls show up on the TP with the dialer interface including caller id right down to the state and country. Audio transferred properly, so the TP becomes a huge speaker phone. Outgoing calls can be dialed and my phone asks if it should use skype or the dialer (as its' set up that way), but this doesn't seem to be working totally as there is a fail message that shows up on the TP saying 'unable to connect' or 'dial directly from your phone' when using contacts. I was able to dial my Google Voice mailbox.
I had to go from WebOS to Other a few times to get it find the phone. Just selecting Scan wasn't enough. I have Uberkernal (the latest as of this date 9/10/11).
I was also able to connect my SE D980 stereo bt headset but it only recognized it as headset not a phone device. The unit has music track controls on it and they work fine with the standard Music app and don't work with the AudiophileHD app. Track forward and back, stop/start.
hello,
it doesn't work with my DHD 2.3.4
when looking for a device on my phone the TP isn't found...
& neither when looking for a device from the TP the DHD isn't found.
There's a precentral thread devoted to it: http://forums.precentral.net/hp-touchpad/295862-first-non-webos-phone-fully-tetherd-hp-touchpad.html
I was able to pair it with my Droid, but can only use the TouchPad as a bluetooth headset. I can also dial with the TouchPad, but I have to use the phone to activate the TouchPad as a headset.

I've got a DHD as well but running MIUI V4. I wasn't expecting it to work but just messing around, I thought I'd pair it in WebOS and it worked without a problem. I can even make calls from the touchpad without touching my phone. It should pair as a headset normally. It didn't work with my LG KC910 though.
*EDIT*
My mistake. It paired and made calls with my LG, no problem at all. Nothing worked under Android though, just file transfers.

Hi, I'm not able to transfert the phonebook from the phone to the Bluetooth car kit. It seems to start transfert but never end. Whit the Sensation and the same car kit no problem.
Any idea to risolve?
Do you click and allow the prompt on the phone to allow the phonebook connection to start, you only get this prompt the first time the devices connect after pairing. You may need to delete the pairing information and start again to see this prompt again!
Yes, I allow the transfer of phone book just after pairing and I see the indication "phone book transfer" on display of car systems but it never ends and no contact is transfered to systems car. With same procedure the sensation works perfectly. Probably there is something on bluetooh 4.0 that is different from 3.0 implemented on Sensation. Very strange because BT 4.0 is mainly focused on energy saving and should be compatibile with previous release.
Anyone has the same issue?
Same ty[e of problem with BT Car stereo
I can't even get my One to see my Sony BT car stereo- HTC diesre was fine and streamed music and calls perfectly.
Have googled aroudn this issue but can't seem to find a good answer.

Interesting cause I have Sony DSX-S300BTX myself. if Bluetooth doesn't work on this, I will buy Galaxy Nexus instead. I stream music in my car most of the time.
I had a quite similar issue with a Seat Altea car. It was starting the sync, and arriving at 160 contacts it just hang.
I solved it by making some cleanup and by selecting only the required address book in thé htc contact list...

Me too with the built in bluetooth system in my Mitsubishi. Old HTC legend worked without any issues.
Any further solutions?
Thanks.
