[Q] attatchment issues on email - Eee Pad Transformer Themes and Apps

anyone having a problem with attatchin a file to an email , i grab one from my micro sd and it goes on the email but wont send with the mail. any ideas?????

hi, yes noticed the same with the gmail app.

Same here, cant attatch in Gmail App... any ideias?

Yeah, it's pervasive. You have to be careful because some apps will have you send a file in an email for licensing. You'll never get the reply because it never sends the file. :-(

Make sure the file is on the internal storage of the xformer then it will send. Had this problem with some work emails a while back.

Are you using a third-party app to select the attachment? I send attachments all the time and I remember having problems with them not working when I used certain third-party apps.

I haven't been able to send pictures from my phone or TF...both Gmail.
A pic on the SD Card in the camera folder should be able to be sent but it's not working.
I thought it was just me.

[Resolved] Router reboot sending gmail?

I have a strange error. When ever l try and send an email on my android threw gmail with more than one photo [ie I send multiple from gallery] my comcast cable modem reboots and gmail will not send the email after that. [Q] Email Attachments

When I receive emails on my Inspire, any jpeg attachment is automatically downloaded. I have searched and cannot find any settings that changes this behavior. The attachments download to the phone even if I do not open the email.
Any help appreciated.
What email app are u using?
I use Gmail, K9 mail and Secure-9 mail, and none of them download to sd card/phone unless I tell them to.
K9 and Secure-9 do download full emails with all attachments with total size upto 2 MB cos of my settings but that's stored within the mail app itself.
I posted a couple of times about this and could not find a solution. Regardless what email app you use, the stock inspire email app always downloads the pic and sends it into your photos and SD card. I think its a flaw in the OS.
Now since I am rooted and running a custom ROM, I don't have this issue but for some reason it use to bother me to know end.....
Never tried before I rooted but with Gmail, I have to click download before it stores it. It doesn't even store it when I preview. In K9, I have to click save.

Stock Email App with Comcast
We are using the stock email app configured with Comcast. Nice to know this is not just happening to me and there is no fix. I am new to the Android team and have not considered Rooting the phone. May be an option if this is the only fix.

Use a different email app dude. Why do u want to stick to stock email. There are better choices like K9 mail, etc.

Gmail & ebay app issues

I cannot send a new email with an attachment from the Gmail app but I can forward one which was received with an attachment! (I can receive new emails with attachments ok). Sending new text only emails are fine.
The HTC mail widget seems ok when i've set it up to Gmail and sends new mails with attachments so it must be the Gmail app itself at fault and not my settings, maybe they screwed something up with the move to ICS?
Anyone else with this problem?
Also in the ebay app i cant view any messages, keep getting a "messages not retrieved, socket error......" when i try open the inbox, sent items etc.
Is this an ICS issue?
Phone is a HTC One S (ICS 4.0.3) on Giffgaff UK phone network.
clearly app cache and data?

Yep, even uninstalled.
Got home and on my wifi it seems fine, both ebay messages and sending new mails with attachments via Gmail.
Tried Pocket Auctions and i can get the ebay messages up ok in that when on mobile internet.

ZIP fiel support for email app

I am not able to open zip files in my nexus 5's email app. When i try to open it gives an error saying"Unfortunately, you can't save or open this type of attachment.. Anybody has a solution for this. i have sent feedback to google through that app several times. But no response. I am surprised to know that a smartphone by a stalwart software company like google is facing problem like this. this is not an end to it. Problems like contacts sharing through SMS,native 3G video calling, contact copy to clipboard are also persisting. Isn't google bothered about all these small basic facilities to the users !!! If not then what & how different is it from any other device. in Moto phones some of these features are also lacking, but moto phones are able to open zip files. "
This is the default email client?

Yes it is the default email client. For using company email ID via outlook i can only configure the inbuilt email app. but this problem is not evident in Gmail app. In gmail app it opens the zip attachment and then gets redirected to the respective app installed on the phone for handling zip files

Yes I can reproduce the issue. I don't think there is a workaround.

SMS Sync?

So I regularly switch between the OPO and S6, I'm looking for an app that syncs my SMS between the two. Right now I'm backing the texts up, uploading it to Google drive, then downloading and restoring the file. This is very time consuming as I don't delete my texts very often and have over 15k texts stored.
The only app I've found to do this is mysms but it's a paid service, I'm looking for a free app or much cheaper than what mysms charges... Any suggestions?

Try MightyText. Also lets you read/send texts from your PC.
I also think you can get the same using PushBullet.

Hmmm PushBullet looks promising... I installed mightytext a while ago but could only see it on a PC, not 2 phones. I'll look at it again tho.

I was using "Super Backup SMS + Contacts". It creates a backup file on your phone or you can upload it to GDrive/Dropbox/whatever. Than simply restore this file on your second phone.
