[Q] my nexus s is flashed to boost, need some help with mms - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

my nexus s is flashed to boost and i need to do a factory reset but don't want to lose the mms
the guy who flashed my phone gave me a paper with the instructions on how to set mms in case i want to reset but i lost it
can somebody tell me how to do it ?
thanks

If you're rooted, use titanium to do a batch backup of all user apps & system data. Do a nandroid backup, too. After you reset, restore [SMS/MMS/APN] Dialer Storage 2.3.4. Then reboot.

What setting to restore JUST messages in titanium?

I have a full backup and If I select restore missing apps+system data I get FC after FC. If I just do restore all user apps and data all is fine. now the only thing I'm really missing is my sms/texts backups. Anybody know how to restore JUST those in titanium backup ? Our even just a forum and not a WIKI for TB ?
Thanks
Restoring your user apps plus data is fine but restoring system apps is never a good idea the only data I ever restore from the system is memo and bookmarks but ill give you a simple solution restore your user apps and data then if you want to use gosms to backup and restore your text messages I've been doing that for a long time
But if you must use titanium backup only backup the system data you need aka bookmarks memo and texts then just restore them
All you do to restore individual things is scroll through the list and tap on whatever u want then hit restore

to retrieve the sms you have to restore data for [sms/mms/apn] dialer storage and reboot your phone
Get sms backup and restore its much easier to manage them

Titanium Backup Question

I (finally) flashed v2.0 touchmiuiwiz, someone suggested that since nandroid restores cause fc's, that i should flash the rom, reboot, let it load, then go back into cwm and restore data.
i did that, and the music player/camera/gallery/etc still dont work. i guess i'm being forced into titanium backup. question is - does it work if i make a backup ON THIS ROM then restore? or do i have to flash a different rom that doesn't fc said apps, THEN backup, then flash v2.0 and restore?
also, how does tit backup work? after flashing, where do i go to restore data? thanks bros.
anyone? =|
when you make a backup and restore you have to wipe data/factory ereset and it will work from any rom!
titanium backup makes a backup file of all your apps on the sd card and you can backup whenever you want.
so after the data wipe, i re-download titanium backup and restore from there?
Yeah, pretty much. TB Pro you don't have to confirm each app install when restoring. It was expensive but since I flash often it really speeds up the recovery process.
You can back up settings as well as apps. But I would only restore settings if on the same rom, no matter the version, unless significant. But all else, apps you can restore from any rom no problem. However, if you get a FC in an app (sometimes I'd get it for Gmail) you can just wipe the data for that app. It usually resolves the problem.

[Q] Titanium Backup Advise

Hi.
I am looking for advise on Titanium Backup. Currently I backup all apps and data and when I install a new ROM I just do a full restore back over the top.
My question is - Does this potentially cause issues with the ROM and the apps?
The main items I am not keen to lose when restoring are contacts and SMS/MMS.
If it's possible to keep all account settings as well then that would be a bonus.
Yup. Your contact sms/mms will remain intact. Try performing batch restore.
So if I just do a batch restore of system data then that will pull in stuff like that?
Yes, but make sure to reboot after restore, n voila! everything is back to normal.
thank i will take a try,,, got the same issue......

Help ... Titanium Backup Restore Problem (Contacts, SMS, Call Log etc...)

lately i bought a new samsung note II to replace my spoiled LG 2X mobile phone.
i had backup all system data and app from my 2X to the sd card using titanium backup.
i installed titanium backup app to the new note II phone and tried to restore contacts , SMS , and call log to the new hand phone.
after restored and restarted, the following error kept appearing on the hand phone.
android.process.acore
message stopped
obviouly can't get into the phone interface, contacts, or message screen from my note II...
tried to restore "data only" or "data+app" in TB ... both wouldn't work as well.
tried to enable "migration data " in the TB and it was still same after restore.
have anyone encountered same problem before? i tried to google as well as searched this forum but couldn't find any solution so far.
any suggestion are much appreciated.
You can't use system data from another phone unless it's the exact same phone on the exact same Rom. You're going to have to restore the phone to stock and then only restore your apps and contacts.

i understand. can't TB restore data for 2 different model of phones? i only restored the data (contacts, sms, call log) only which were indicated green in TB.
You said you backed up your system data too, which you don't need and can't use on a different model of phone. Just make sure you don't restore that this time.

Move to new phone using TWRP Backup & Restore

So this is quite a hard question before trying it myself.
I would like to move from phone but don`t want the hassel of reinstalling all apps ect, I have currently rooted my device and plan on rooting my next one.
My question: Can I backup phone 1 then restore the backup on phone 2? (not same model)
And will all settings and configs like whatsapp ect be the same?

Use Google to backup your photos, videos and contacts.
Try helium for your apps and app data.
Use something like SMS backup to backup text messages there is also a way to backup and restore text messages via Google.
But, you will only be able to backup and restore user data and data partition, you will not be able to do this with any of your system apps or system app data or system data or system settings, these will not restore and work properly on the new device.
