What setting to restore JUST messages in titanium? - General Questions and Answers

I have a full backup and If I select restore missing apps+system data I get FC after FC. If I just do restore all user apps and data all is fine. now the only thing I'm really missing is my sms/texts backups. Anybody know how to restore JUST those in titanium backup ? Our even just a forum and not a WIKI for TB ?
Thanks

Restoring your user apps plus data is fine but restoring system apps is never a good idea the only data I ever restore from the system is memo and bookmarks but ill give you a simple solution restore your user apps and data then if you want to use gosms to backup and restore your text messages I've been doing that for a long time
But if you must use titanium backup only backup the system data you need aka bookmarks memo and texts then just restore them
All you do to restore individual things is scroll through the list and tap on whatever u want then hit restore

to retrieve the sms you have to restore data for [sms/mms/apn] dialer storage and reboot your phone

Get sms backup and restore its much easier to manage them

[Resolved] [Q] contacts restore with Titanium Backup?

i've looked ...cannot find the answer.
MyBackup Pro is easy to just restore contacts specifically, but i cannot find anywhere in Titanium Backup that lets you restore contacts without doing a full system restore ....at least there is no obvious option .....and i cannot figure out which part of the backup contains the contacts.
Anyone know?

[Q] Titanium Backup Advise

Hi.
I am looking for advise on Titanium Backup. Currently I backup all apps and data and when I install a new ROM I just do a full restore back over the top.
My question is - Does this potentially cause issues with the ROM and the apps?
The main items I am not keen to lose when restoring are contacts and SMS/MMS.
If it's possible to keep all account settings as well then that would be a bonus.
Yup. Your contact sms/mms will remain intact. Try performing batch restore.
So if I just do a batch restore of system data then that will pull in stuff like that?
Yes, but make sure to reboot after restore, n voila! everything is back to normal.
thank i will take a try,,, got the same issue......

[Q] Backing up App Settings

What is the easiest / best way to backup my app settings so I can restore them after I install a new rom. Google seems to take care of all my wifi settings, etc fine, and reinstalls all my apps from the google marketplace, but I have to manually log back into all of my apps, and re-setup all of my apps which is a pain.
I tried installing Titanium backup, but I'm not sure what to select to backup. I don't want to backup the apps since those reinstall automatically fine, I just want the settings for the apps backed app.
Any recommendations?
Titanium allows you to back up system data without backing up the apps. Just launch titanium, hit the menu button, select batch, and run backup all system data

Titanium backup can backup any app including its settings and restore just the settings or the whole app. As was stated above it can also backup settings only for system data.
yes ... but when you restore app + data ,you will feel so bad , specially when you have more than 100 apps ...

Save Data / backing up?

Okay so i have multiple games or had multiple games that require to be backed up and installed new roms and factory reset etc.. Is there a way to save data such as login information stored for netflex or simple savedata on angry birds or ckzombies? (prefer not to use titanium backup because for some reason it wont find root).

You should be able to do a nandroid backup for this , go to CWM and go to backup and restore , advance , choose how you want to backup and proceed from there (you should be able to backup data only)
I have been using titanium backup so I haven't tried "my backup root" but it would be my next option I think they pretty much do the same thing, I know it at least backs up the data with the apps unlike other "backup apps. Also I wanted to mention if you do just go the nandroid way there's an app called nandroid browser that works good. You can restore individual apps with it instead of having to restore the whole nandroid backup image, it actually opens up the image & you can browse all of the files on it & restore what you want. I haven't tried it on my tablet yet but it ended up working on my phone it just took a while the first time or two when I started it I didn't think it was gonna work but I got patient & realized it worked.
Here are the links if you want to check them out-

Thank you ill give it a try i didnt see any type of nandroid backup in the recovery(unless your talking bout a regular standard backup in recovery? Id like to do a backup to restore all the system apps and data it was before backing up).... Will the backup also backup how my desktop is arrnged i just never grasped what system data collects besides the data from some apps
Edit: recovery didnt give me any type of option to just backup data....

Message Restore, Titanium & TWRP backups

Hi everyone!
On previous phones I've been able to use the extract from nandroid backup feature in Titanium to restore my messages by restoring data only to 'phone/message storage' app. When I look on the app list on the S8+ I can't seem to find 'phone/message storage' anywhere.
I can use the restore from xml, but its super slow and restores 1 text message per min and I have thousands of messages. Where as extracting and restoring data only via nandroid back up takes about a min because it moves the messages 'file' from the backup to the phone rather than restoring texts one by one.
Thank you ?
