manual fw update instruction? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know where the instruction will that be? I downloaded the FW from Asus support site, and looking for update my TF to the FW I jus downloaded from Asus. I remember I saw some screenshot instruction but couldn't find it anymore. (The reason I want to update my TF because there was an update on 16th or 17th from Asus messing up the TF charging 2hr for 1% charged...that's crazy!)
thx,

The firmware I find on their website was released 6/10/11 and is 8.4.4.5 US. This is not the FW released this past weekend 8.4.4.11. The manual update instructions are also available on the website as WW SKU_Firmware Update SOP.
Or...... you could read the no less than 5 threads regarding how to do this...

Dude, for some reason, this weekend fw update caused my tablet won't be charging at all or very very slow on charging like 1%/2hr and it even doesn't show charging when the tablet is on - I had to leave it off and knowing it being charged now - I'm going to leave this for 24hr and let see how much juice it will be charged - otherwise I will get another tablet via my "accidental damage insurance" by Walmart..
Lesson learned ...if the device works as you expected/wanted to - DO NOT UPDATE FW or anything from the manufacturer!

I am not sure if backdating is possible without issues, that may be a question for one of our gurus... I haven't heard of this issue from other members. I read your other post and I don't think the 8.4.4.11 update did anything to the battery dock as others have posted. Might be worth a battery widget to see an actual graph and mA charging and temperatures. There are a bunch of dual battery widgets available. Search dual battery widget in the Market or on the forum. Good luck!

Problems with Mobile Dock

Hi!
I just got my TF700 and i have some problems using the Keyboard Dock.
The Tablet only reccognizes the Dock when i have the AC-Adapter connected to it.
And even though the USB Port and SD Slot are not working.
Neither reboot nor cold boot does help with any of those issues.
Is it the TF700 or TF201 keyboard dock? If it's the TF201, make sure you have the newest firmware installed for it.
Hi!
Thanks for the fast response!
It is the TF201 Dock.
Where to get and how to update the Firmware for it?

Where did you get this dock? Was it included in the purchase of your TF700T? I'd think all TF201 docks (I have one as well -- and that's a good thing, since they carry a slightly more capacitous battery ) have been shipped with the required firmware (version 207). Could you please check for us what the last entry under "Settings" > "About tablet" says? On mine, it's "TF201-DOCK-0207) -- as far as I know, 207 is the latest version. (Hopefully, that'll change soon. )

Well firmware was my first thought...it's possible it was shipped with an older firmware. But that's where I usually start with everything lol.
The Dock was included and has the 207 Firmware.
Hmmm sounds like a hardware issue. Anyone have any better ideas?
I justgot my TF700 yesterday with dock from amazon. Dockwas working fine for a while then just stopped and hasworked twice since but only for a while. When connected its saying dock connected but 0% battery even when charged. Dont know what to do.. cleared tablet and did a complete software wipe/reset and still acting up..

[Q] Serious Battery Problem , or wrong percentage

Hi there!
I know I'm new on Xda-Developers, but I've been here more than once for reading great topics about Android, rooting, etc etc.
For the first time, I haven't found a solution to my problem... So I'm requesting some help here! :good:
So, my problem is quite simple : there is a serious problem with the battery of my TF300.
When I use the tablet (without the dock), the tablet ALWAYS shut down between 40% and 70% battery left, without any reason. Impossible to reboot the tablet : like if the battery was empty. I'm forced to plug her to the charger to boot it back.
She is new (only 2 months), but no more on warranty because I rooted it (I hate myself :crying
So, I don't know if it's hardware or software, but anyway, it's borring.
Here is the things I've already done :
Wipe battery stats with ClockWork
Battery Calibration with some apps on the store
Factory reset
Re-install the android system with a .zip with ClockWork
Trying to install Cyanogen mod (But I failed, I'm so bad )
Wiping cache and Data on CWM
So, as you can see, it's really annoying. Can't stand on my tablet without the dock more than one hour...
So, If someone has a solution, just help me :crying:
If you find THE solution, I'll reward you with 5€ (about 6,40$) on paypal. I will be so happy than It doesn't mattter me ^^ And I'm serious.
Sorry for my bad english, I'm trying to do my best
If we can help, we will help.
You can't use money to "buy" the help in this forum.
And if you only rooted, did not unlock, your warranty is still there.

Actually he's unlocked since he mentioned CWM...
Anyways masterowl, how long does your battery last in terms of hours?
Although you are unlocked there has been some ppl in Europe that have been able to exchange or fix their tablets by taking them to the ASUS certified service centers, even with unlocked devices. If you are getting less than 7-8 hours of light use (screen on time) you might want to try contacting your nearest ASUS service center, it might that you get lucky and they won't charge anything.
Damn, I'm so stupid. I've unlocked the bootloader yesterday, thinking this could resolve the problem. ( I rooted the tablet without bootloader before).
Ive just killed the warranty. That was very stupid of mine...
About the hours, it's very very short. If I let the tablet (without dock) with the Tegra 3's game Dead Trigger, let's count 30 or 45 minutes before shutting down (with still 70-75% battery!)
If I do things a bit softer like reading a PDF with EzPdf, I can reach 2 to 4 hours, but still shutting down with 45-50% battery left.
About the money, I'm sorry. It's just that this tablet was so expensive that If I could find a solution for saving repair costs, It wont bother me to spend a little percentage of the repair costs with my "hero" ˆˆ Of course, It could motivate people to help me, too.
I think you should try getting it to an asus service center, here is the number for the ASUS's Belgium Call Center
- Belgium 0032-78150231 09:00-17:00 Mon-Fri
Just tell them what is wrong with the battery and see what they tell you. They won't charge you any money unless you accept their offer, as far as I know. So just don't tell them it is unlock. Remember to wipe data and return tablet to stock firmware before sending it.

Thanks for the number, but If I don't say that my tablet is unlocked, they will obvisouly say that I have to return it to them :/
And if I return it, they will see that she's unlocked ("This device is unlocked", at the boot screen), that's unavoidable :/
I'll have to pay for the repair, or pay for they bring it back to me...
Additional informations : the LED light of the tablet never get GREEN! Always orange. Isn't there a magic way to restore the battery? :/ I'm quite sure there is a problem on the battery driver, kernel or something like this...

Don't be so sure that your warranty is void entirely. If you return the tablet with stock ROM and the problem is still present, they should diagnose it as a hardware issue and fix it under warranty. I've read more than a few posts on XDA of people getting ASUS to honor the hardware warranty on unlocked tablets (see here).
Good luck.

Dock dead after .18 firmware upgrade

Hi,
I have a TF700T completly stock without root and upgraded the firmware to the most recent one .18 with the dock attached and it went successfully.
After this the dock does not appear as connected on asus notifications, keyboard does not work, neither does battery get recognized on battery widgets.
When connected to the AC adapter there is no light indicating charging on the dock and also does not appear on the tablet if connected to the dock.
The AC adapter shouldn't be the problem as it charges correctly the tablet and another similar dock.
Also tried to reinstall the download firmware through MicroSD and several cold boots and data wipes, with the dock attached, but got no resolution to the problem.
Tried to exchange it on the supplier, FNAC, since it has less than 30 days but they didn't exchange as they invoke it has scratches (2 or 3 millimeters very lightly).
Now I was trying to avoid sending it to warranty as it is brand new and wouldn't like to be deprived of it.
Can anyone help?

Have you tried to factory reset then downgrade back to .30 see if the dock is working?
Is it possible to downgrade without unlocking/rooting?

In that case, since the tablet has less than one month, I believe the sensible option is to send it back to Asus..
Sorry, I misread your quote.
Is the procedure the same as to reinstall the firmware through recovery?

You probably did not understand my suggestion; you DON'T NEED to UNLOCK or ROOT to downgrade. You CAN downgrade your device to .30
Here is the instruction:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1925230
Only take you about 20min.

Downgraded to .16 and no dock, after that downgraded to .30 and still no dock.
I don't know what else to try, maybe it really needs to be checked by Asus.
Thanks for the help anyway.

I assumed you probably tried to reseat the tablet and the dock already, at this time, I believe you should give Asus tech support a call and if they can't help you they are going to give you RMA to send in for repair. Good luck.
I already called them this morning and they are going to pick it up tomorrow at my place.
Was just trying one last shot in order to avoid sending it back.
I reset the tablet with the dock attached, is there another method just to reset the dock?

any hope fixing battery drain in first gen keyboard/dock?

Scored a free keyboard/dock from a friend and I must say It has brought new life to my transformer.
Problem is it is one of the first serials off the line and the battery drains about 10% every 3 hours even when the tablet is off. Needless to say I doubt Asus is going to help me out.
So I'm stuck living with it or fixing it myself. Has anyone researched what Asus actually did to fix the first units when they were RMA'd? Any other options?
-J
Undocking when powered off works for me, although I remember having this problem before, I don't seem to have it running the latest KatKiss ROMs
Which is weird, I wouldn't have thought a ROM would have any effect on a powered off unit, unless they are not 100% powering off when you shutdown
I am running release 29 of katkiss. Problem is I have no other rom to base from... just got the dock and installed latest katkiss at the same time. The dock is running the latest firmware as confirmed from a different pad.
-J
Try undocking when powered off then, see if it is a dock fault or not
yep... dock drains even when undocked.
Faulty dock / dock firmware / dock battery then Id say
You say the dock firmware is fully updated using the stock ROM > Check for updates ?
I can't remember what the latest update was unfortunately, Ive been away from stock for too long
yep. fully updated. That's why I wanted to know if anyone knew exactly what ASUS did to fix the hardware in these first run of docks.
I vaguely remember hearing that they replaced a small daughter board in the faulty units, not sure which one it was, USB seems to ring a bell but could be wrong
http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Disassemble-the-ASUS-Transformer-TF101-Keyb/step4/The-boards/
I guess you could try unplugging them one by one and see which one cures the drain

VZ Note 5 painfully slow charging

I've bought a note 5 a couple weeks ago and it always take somewhere around 5 hours to charge to full from 1-8%. I got suspicious last night when I bought an anker qc3.0 car charger and a Samsung adaptive fast charger car charger and they didnt charge any faster. I've ran ampere and accubattery to see what the current was and it's not getting above 460mA no matter the charger. It's not the cable, I have a few good cables that all push 3A+ on other devices. I have deleted the cache partition and tried charging in safe mode and with the phone off but doesn't get any faster. Please someone help me figure this out. It's stock firmware on android 5.1.1. Thanks

Where did you buy the phone from? Are you sure you didn't purchase a fake phone? Can you go into settings then about phone and tell me what the baseband is? And if possible include a picture of the front of the phone while the screen is off.
Bought it from a guy that had upgraded his and his wife's phones. Baseband version is N920VVRU2A0J3.

The phone looks fine and it's real but with the way it's charging I suspect it needs a new internal battery.
You don't suspect the charging circuit? AccuBattery does say estimated capacity is only around 2700mAh. How hard is it to replace the battery in these?

It requires you to heat the back up with a heat gun and I've done it many times but I would say in all honesty I've broken the damn glass back a few times because I consider them fragile pos! But have you gone into settings and then battery and checked to see if "Fast cable charging" is ticked on?

I can give you a program called odin that's made to flash firmware updates to the phone but you have to download the firmware and the odin program and enable OEM unlock in developer options.. Click this link below and read my instructions . Just substitute the N920VVRU2AOJ3 firmware for the second link below.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve.../downgrade-to-lollipop-5-1-1-verizon-t3368250
And I would recommend that you try this firmware but do not go any higher or you will NEVER EVER be able to downgrade back to Lollipop.. The firmware version in this link below is for upgrading to Marshmallow 6.0 and you can downgrade back to lollipop if you don't like Marshmallow but don't flash nothing higher than this one or you will only be able to use Marshmallow or Nougat and nothing else... Link to the Marshmallow firmware below .. Make sure you extract it ONE time after you download it so you see .tar.md5 at the end of the file name and then you can put the phone in download mode and flash the firmware with odin.

Well you just figured out why it's not working right then.. Now you're definitely going to have to remove the back of the glass and replace the charging port I could do it but you'd have to send the phone otherwise you need to buy something to heat the back up but don't heat it so much that it burns it and destroys it! There's charging ports available to buy on Amazon and Ebay.. You need to be really careful with it because the ribbons will tear like they're wet paper that's how easy it is to break it!
It looks like this.
replacement usb port Amazon
Also try using a magnifying glass to look at the pins inside your usb port and if they're bent try to straighten them.

Sigh.... sure wish it was just some screws, damn you samsung LOL. I've replaced motherboards and screens on other phones but that was easy take the back off and remove some screws lol. I'll see if I can get it done reasonably around here, how much should this repair cost me so I know what to expect and if I should just look for another phone. Thanks again for the help, I'll see if I can find a magnifying glass to look at the port too.
Also, might as well replace the battery while I'm in there, any brands that you would recommend? I see 50 million brands and don't want to get a crap one.

I would recommend that you find a seller that sells brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 5 batteries and get the SAME 3000 mah simply because there's so many people selling fake batteries that are like 2000mah and only last for like 2 hours versus Samsungs 6 to 8 hours.. What the fake sellers do is put a piece of plastic inside with a 2000mah battery and then wrap it with a real Samsung battery logo so you think it's real but it's not you should watch this YouTube video and get the battery from this guy
YouTube video link Fake VS real Samsung battery
Samsung battery from here Samsung parts
Paying a store around you to do it expect to pay anywhere between 175 to 250. If you can do it yourself it's less than 50.
