eMMC chip - HTC Desire S

I saw that on DS are 2 chips. I have the faulty one but in 2 months of use I didn`t had any error. So if you don`t pull battery out you cant brick your phone right?

[Q] Do I now have a £300 brick?

Turning on my phone today and it was stuck on the HTC logo. After 20 mins, I pulled the battery (all I could do) now when I try and start it, it just vibrates 5-8 times and refuses to start.
Is there anyway to sort this, or should I return? The phone is only 6 weeks old, so I can get my money back on it.
If you haven't modified the phone (S-Off, root etc) then I would just take it back to the shop and ask for a replacement. After only 6 weeks they should still take responsibility for it and not make you go via the network provider for a replacement.
Yep, as long as you haven't voided the warranty (root etc)
They'll be more than happy to replace it.
Good luck with that.
The quality of these phones is really quite bad. Mine was also one with a gap at the top of the screen..
That, as well as the emmc problem means I wont be buying another Desire S, or HTC phone.
even if u voided the warranty, the emmc cip is broken and they canot know anything you done on it...
think in a positive way..when you bricked your phone accidentally, with working recovery, but you cannot do anything, you can jsut try your best to fry the emmc chips by keep on pulling battery,so that it'll be covered under warranty

[Q] Screen Corruption

Hi. Today, when I unlocked the screen, I got something like this (see attachements).
Is this a software problem or is it the gpu failing? I didn't even touch the transormer, it was on my desk all night, and in the morning when I wanted to use it.. you can see what happened. It looks like it was displaying only 256 colors.
Should I send it back to asus or is it fixable? help
Juist flash another rom and see what happens.
If it was overclocked that may have done it and if it was recently droped or bumped it could be the digitizer cable is out of place

I don't remember bumping it or shaking it like crazy, but this thing happens even in recovery mode and during reboot, so it's gotta be hardware.
Now I remember having similiar problem years ago, with an old CRT monitor and faulty VGA cable, so maybe the cable is really out of place.
It's crazy how sensitive this hardware is.
edit: it was overclocked to 1.3 ghz, but not when when the screen was locked. And I remember clearly it was ok when I was locking it. Can this still be a reason?
I saw this once or twice a long time ago when using kernels which overclocked the GPU and RAM...

will getting back to stock kernel/rom fix this issue? or is the damage permanent?
Looks similar to the pics of the cable being loose problem. The thread is probably buried...try finding it and I bet that the pics you find are similar to yours.
yes it was the cable problem. I hit the back of the tablet a few times and the screen went back to normal. Wondering how long it will last before it happens again.

[Q] Phone bricked.Dont know what happened.

Ok guys i have helped a lot of you out there but i need help this time.
Few days ago i accidently dropped my phone down but nothing happened that time.
Next day everything was fine until the day after when my phone suddenly switched off.i switched it on but after few minutes it became off again.then i tried to switch it on but nothing happened.
i tried removing battery and charging again but nothing happened.
but one strange thing was my battery was getting hot even when the phone was off.
i thought smth is wrong with battery and i bought a new one but nothing happened.
no download mode no recovery nothing....i mean nothing..........
So know i dont know whats wrong and its not even in warranty as i dont have bill and other things.
i went to a local shop but they said give it to us a we will find the problem but i am scared that there may be only minute problem for which they will charge like rs.500 to rs.1500 and may still not fix it.so i dont trust them.
so pls. help by telling me what could have happened and has this happened to anyone else??
and yeah i have not flashed clockwork mod.....i had chocobread 3.2........
maybe the battery leaked inside the phone and thats why it wouldnt on
thats why the battery was hot due to the chemical reactions taking place inside the battery.
try putting the new battery in and charging it for like 10 min and then on and see if it works.
try shaking the phone also to see if any part inside the phone is lose or broken
last option is give it for repair
PS: if u do know a lot about ur phone hardware try opening it and see whats wrong inside even though i got no idea what will happen coz ive never tried
best of luck
may be the screens cable broken..
It looks something that samsung care can fix...be ready to shell out some cash...
I would advise against unofficial service, atleast for smartphones...

Well its really f***in trouble man...
I'm guessing that your phones hardware are down, because of the impact... maybe the display flexible or the power supply that's going bad and that's why you're phone can't turned on again..
Battery shouldn't be problem, coz it charge and getting hot...
My advise is just go and repair it to the Samsung Service Center..
Just my little opinion..

Thanks guys but how much expense can I expect like from just damaged power supply to damaged chips?
I don't want to spend much as I am looking to buy s3 very soon.

My friend which is a phone technician told me that your problem is the IC Power (power supply)..
Just replace it with the new one ...
I'll guest its about 5 to 10 USD..

It should not cost too much. While i doubt that it would have anything to do with the battery (as ive dropped my phone several times over the past one yr ) id agree that you take it to the samsung service ctr. It may cost a little, but the fit is worth every penny

It seems the Power IC, however check the pins that connect battery with motherboard.

Sudden Sensation Bricked?

Hi All,
I wanna start this thread to see how many people had a sudden bricked with their sensations. This thread will help us in defining what "might" caused our phones to suddenly brick itself.
Here are my symptoms.
-No LED
-No LED on charge
-Doesnt show any sign of life
Whats my phone has before it bricked.
-s-off with wire trick no htcdev unlock
-3.33x
-viper rom
-sebastianfm kernel
If bricked users can share this little.information or more, maybe we can compare and trace where it all began.
Thanks!

The computer is detecting your phone?
Try remove battery for about hour.
Thanks for wanting to put a thread like this together but others as well as myself have tried to do threads like this. But the problem is that the issue is so random that when other users experience the issue the thread is pushed way back. Or the user is vainly thinking that their device is not suffering the same issue and is recoverable. The truth is it is a hardware defect of some kind. Exactly what defect I do not know as know one with the knowledge has ever taken apart on of the faulty devices to investigate it. My best guess is something happens to the CPU and it becomes unusable. I say this because all the devices I have read users post about that this happens to all report the same as you. They get no led when connected to a charger, phone sudently became unusable without warning, and they usually get QHSDQualcomm as the device if connected to a computer, but some have reported nothing when connected to a computer. If you click on the link to the thread I started you will read what happen to my device and also I have a link to another thread with people that have had it happen. If you still have warranty on your device make HTC replace or repair your device. And so you know if they repair it that means they replaced the main PCB board as that is the only fix for it. Do not waste your time or money on JTAG cause like I said this is a hardware issue.

Thanks for your concern in helping me Radolex, but I had this problem and has been fixed by replacing the motherboard.

Thanks for the reply and info, So lets just assume now that sensation has some freaky ways to die. I agree with the CPU being not stable, I was on 1.5ghz with Vipers and looks like there are some "processors" like mine cant handle that **** or also maybe Im in Asia which we have a hot weather. hot weather + OC made the cpu die.

Bricked OFW nexus S

Hello all, android noob here
I'm an iphone user for years and quite unfamiliar with rooting, android cfws and bootloaders so please bear with me.
Last year i went to serve the army and i was borrowed a nexus S from a friend that wasn't using it.
I think it had the latest version of jelly bean installed 4.x.x and was never modded/rooted/no cfw installed.
The power button wasn't working so i was removing/re-inserting the battery to open it every time.
One day It froze, one of the numerous times it did actually, so i removed the battery to reinsert it but when i did and felt the vibrating sound
i had it upside down and battery fell off while it was booting.
The phone became completely unresponsive (power button doesn't work).. when i plug it to ac screen will start flashing randomly but it won't turn on/boot. It will heat up after some time though. Same through usb data cable. I remember it was once recognized by my windows 7 (?) laptop but as an unknown device and i couldn't do anything on it.
I really really REALLY need those photos in there Is there anything i can do now?
From reading these forums and correct me if i'm wrong i'm thinking doing some of the following:
a) jig / j-tag? but will i be able to save my photos this way or everythings gonna get wiped?
b) take it to a forensics company so that maybe somehow they can exctract data from the NAND inside?
c) remove (!) the nand buy a cheap used working nexus s remove that one's too and switch? lol?
Please help!
Hello.. You will definitely lose your photos if the bootloader is locked... Coz unlocking the bootloader erases your phone completely... I am really sad for your photos...

Thank you for the reply! Will a jig work for me? Is it worth it to purchase one? Or you have to have your bl unlocked?
Also if everything else fails i will desolder the surface mount nand SD chip buy a used i9023 nexus and solder it on that one. Since that whole process is a bit expensive though I want to be sure there is no other way to revive the phone AND keep the photos.
Also has anyone on here has the knowledge to tell me what odds approx do i have of succeding doing so? I dont want the phone just my pics.

and what if the nand is corrupt ? Who knows... If u have an smd station and u can afford another motherboard then go for it. Or u can desolder the nand and send it to a company to recover the photos ? :/
ps. i don't understand why u wer removing and reinserting the battery if the power button doesn't work ?
