[Q] SD Card Reader - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am considering buying a transformer and had a question about the sd card reader. I have heard that it doesn't work properly? I was hoping to put a 32gb sdhc card in this to store movies/music and the like, will I be able to?

It works fine.. just remember that unlike older version of android, Honeycomb does not let you move apps to sd card (but hey they tend to be really small) but you can use your SD card to store your music, photo, movies, comics stuff like that.

Hard Disk for PDA - intermediate solution

I have been grappling with the problem of storage for a while. When I had a XDA II I was thinking of getting a CF USB Host card/Sleeve/Portable HD but stuck to SD cards. I had to return a 2GB SD card a while back and was going to replace it with a 4GB card when they became cheaper but I came across an interesting device that I think has solved my storage problem (until PDA's come with high-capacity HDs). It's a Vosonic VP 6230 http://www.vosonic.com/index.php?php_mode=spec&php_itemid=36 . It works like an image-tank but unlike other image tanks you can copy from the HD to a SD card. So if you are going on a trip you can copy say movies to the SD card when you want to watch them rather than having to bring along a laptop. It also plays music/videos/photos itself but's it's not a great media player. Also you can charge it through the USB cable. ~£240 for 80GB model.

[Q] just a quick question before I purchase mine

hey there, hoping for a quick answer.. basically I read in a review that I won't be able to use an external SD card to store media.. like music on and use it, what I read was this:
'the microSD slot works out of the box. It supports up to 32GB and shows up as a notification giving you two-press access to it. This is both good and bad. The way Asus implemented microSD support is to label it as removable storage. Android will ignore it and consider the internal memory the SD card. This is not too much of a problem. However, if you think you are going to run your music off of a microSD, you are mistaken. The Transformer will not look to the microSD for media files. Some apps will let you add folders from the microSD card into their libraries. Yet many will not.'
could anyone who has one confirm if this is true or not please?, as I plan on buying one soon as but if this is the case I won't be buying one . thank you for any answers
Craig
Maybe see this thread.
The stock music player by Asus (already installed on the transformer) see the contents of the microSD just like if it was on the internal..you have only a little notification in the bar..
For the SD in the dock I don't know..maybe someone else has tried..
If you want to use only a microSD go and buy the transformer !
EDIT: maybe not all the music player will see files on external SD but for me the stock player is good enough..
thanks for the replies guys , I also heard 3.2 supports media from external sd cards natively so maybe this addresses that issue
ordering it this evening

[Q] special SD micro clone???

I have muve music on my huawei mercury phone from cricket... the muve program requires a special SD card... this SD card is 4g... 1g for my personals and 3g for music.... the 1g is not big enough for all my personals. I have a 32g sd micro that i was using before and i was wondering... How do i make my 32g replicate the compatibility of the special SD card so that it can be used with Muve Music program?
I really need to know because i have alot of important things on my phone but cant use them due to no space on special sd card. please help me...

(Q) SD card uses?

I purchased the 8GB Tab 2 7.0 because of the expandable storage but now I'm questioning whether the 16GB on the Nexus 7 would suit my needs better.
I know that apps cannot be moved to the SD card but I was wondering about rented Playstore movies? I downloaded a Play movie and it went right to the internal storage and I couldn't find a way to move it. I mainly use my tablet for DroidTV (which will not download to the SD card - they say Samsung doesn't allow it) and rented movies when I travel. And with just a few tv shows and my apps downloaded I'm down to 2GB of the internal storage left which isn't enough to download one Playstore movie.
I've thought about rooting but I've never done that before and I'm a big chicken so if anyone has any other way for me to utilize the 32GB storage card I bought I would really appreciate it!
I think you could use app called directory bind, have not tried it personally, but i think it allows to bind directories of external sd card as if they are in the internal sd
Sent from my GT-P5100 using xda app-developers app
Thanks. I can't find it on Google Play but when I searched for it online I found a thread here on XDA that says ROOT is required.
Any other solutions out there? I love my Tab 2 but I definitely need more storage .

Digital copies of movies & android

I've got quite a few DVDs/Blu Rays that contain digital copies and would like them on my SD card as my phone only has 16GB of storage. To the best of my knowledge if I download them via the PlaysEverywhere app, I can't transfer them to my SD card? (my Z3 isn't rooted or anything like that). Is there anyway of downloading it and getting it on my SD card? From what I can see on Sony MediaGo, there's no way of importing the film using that
