You need to use an app like Root Explorer or you can use terminal emulator and type in these commands (all without quotes and press enter after each one):
"su"
"cd /system/media/audio/ui"
"ls" -- this will list all of the files in the directory, find the one that you want to get rid of then type
"rm <filename>" replacing <filename> with the name of the file you want to remove. Hope this helps!

If you don't want to use adb or the terminal, download a program onyour computer called Android Commander. It's a gui that does the command stuff for you.

It's really not that hard and the feeling of accomplishment you will get by doing it yourself will be worth it.
Just do it.
Just used this method and it was super easy! Got rid of that stupid VZW name and replaced it with something cool. Thanks a bunch!!
Dont really wanna mess up my phone so lol.

Wanted to thank MD for starting the thread and Casen for the lnk. Very cool. I now have "android droidX".
MD- how far have you got? Try downloading the android sdk and you can start experimenting with ADB (android debug bridge). If you just google "android sdk" you can go right to google's site and they have instructions there. Or maybe you have all ready messed around with ADB?
anyways, cheers for the good question.
Thanks and idk im trying to look for a easier way first. Theres a app out there it just doesnt support DX yet.

I had that same problem originally. Did you follow the directions on the link exactly? If you push the framework-res.apk back to the phone while it is running "normally"- that is what happens (or it happened to me at least).
But when I booted into recovery, mounted system (it will actually read unmount when it is mounted) and then pushed the apk- I didn't have that problem.
I am not sure if that was the only step that made the difference- but is the only one I can think of.

Thanks. I couldn't get my system to recognize the phone while in recovery. I ended up mounting the system while the phone was in Media Sync Mode, issuing the "stop" command, replacing the files and rebooting. Worked like a charm. :-D

That sounds easier. I am no ADB wizard. Could you type it out for me?
Code:
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
etc.
Or whatever commands you issued?
Thanks.
It's much easier to use Android Terminal Emulator on the phone instead of the cable/ADB method.

A couple of things...
1. This is in no way meant as a "come back". Just my view.
2. Whether it is easier to use terminal or not - I still need the commands.
3. And for me it is easier to use a full size key board. The USB cable is less of a hassle to me then the mini touch screen keyboard.
Again- that's just me.

push and pull apk from/to phone

I can't remember what the program was called but though it was called adb shell.
What it does is that when I installed on my pc i can connect my phone and see a list of apks on the program. And when I goto different tab on the program, i can remove and push apk to and from phone.
does anybody know where i can download it?
Thanks
you mean this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9248406&postcount=1

Thanks gil2001xp
its something similar to the one you posted but with different interface.
the one that i used has all the apks on the phone listed on the left side and i can click on the one that i want to remove and just remove it.
for example, when i want to remove the stock launcher or camera i can just remove it and push the new launcher/camera of choice to the phone. this way i will not have two launcher/camera on my phone.
I will give X10 Mod Tool a try now.
Thanks again.

to do it from your computer you need to have adb set up. there are hundreds of guides for that on xda.
what do you mean it "won't work" though? be more specific?

The last step in the command line, the renaming "su" to "mu." I can't rename it because it's a read only file.

I typed character for character correctly, still "failed on '/system/bin/su' - Read-only file system".
Didn't work for me sadly I still get the playback not supported. I'm on the T-Mobile G2x
Edit: Also tried unrooting via super one click and still got the same result after reboot.
well, it says potential. it doesn't say it will work. it's an idea.

Full Screen?

Hi,
I have root,is there anyway we can make use of this great screen easily by getting rid of the navigation on the bottom and the google search bar then use a pie app for navigation?
Cheers.
PS I did search the forum but did not see this question come up.

FYI this has been covered in at least a few threads here.
But this is what I did-
Install this app (it's what I use) or a similar one of your choosing- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tk.eatheat.pie&hl=en
And add this line to your build.pro to get rid of your navbar- qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
Reboot after editing your build.prop.
That's all you gotta do.

Did you edit anything else in your build.prop? All that does is trick the phone into thinking you've got hardware keys, thus eliminating the need for a navbar. There's no reason why that mod alone would cause your phone to not boot. Can you get into fastboot or recovery?

Well you can try using adb to push an unedited build.prop back to /system and that should get you running again.

Just download the stock ROM and pull it out of /system. There should be one over in the dev section.
If you're not familiar with adb, you should probably be able to copy the build.prop over with the file manager in TWRP. Just put it on your SD and use TWRP to move it to /system.
If you have trouble finding the build.prop just let me know and I'll pull mine and post it for you.

Stereo Speaker Mod

Hey guys, just got my Pixel today. I was wondering if there is a mod that turns the earpiece into a loud speaker like the mod for the XL? Thanks.
I am using this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/themes/mod-enabling-dual-speaker-audio-playback-t3492257
However, do note that the earpiece speaker is too soft and negligible to work together for Stereo. My goal is to get the speaker to be louder and it does that.
It's all explained in the thread

Does this work for the non-XL pixel? The reason I ask is because I thought that was only for the XL. I'll give it a try tomorrow though.

I just tried to do the mod and it hasn't worked for me. When I try to use the adb commands, it always says no such file or directory. I even tried the older method of dowloading the mixer_paths file but I can't change permissions for that. How did you manage to do it?

Well, there are 3 steps.
For first step, I simply copied the gz file into the /data/local/tmp folder using root explorer. I found this method easier than ADB.
For 2nd/3rd step, you need to execute the commands in root shell. (type su, enter) to grant root access before doing the 2 commands.
